Essbase: Api for Rules File

Hi all,Is there any Api available (In Java, C or VB) to find out the SQL that was given as the data source input to a Data Load Rules File.I want know any workaround available to obtain the SQL from Rules file.Any help will be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

Thanks for giving reply. I already checked that no lock are available for rule file. I don't know what's the problem. It is working fine without the Rule file, but throwing error only when using rule file.

DIM: how to load metadata to Essbase without using rule files

Hi,
The Essbase adapter has been installed in the informatica PowerCenter (v8.1.1). We want to create a Essbase target definition to load metadata. In the Table Creation Wizard, we select Table Type: Dynamic dimension building (Type 3), but it needs to specify Rules file in the Column Creation Wizard.
Any method to load metadata into Essbase without using Rules file?

You could load the data into Essbase without Rule file by means of free form loading which the Datasource would be a file.

Hi,
you can try the org.apache.xml.serialize.XMLSerializer which is included in the Apache Xerces Package (http://xml.apache.org/xerces). This Class allows you to serialize a org.w3c.dom.Document to a OutputStream which can be a FileOutputStream.
Check out this code:

format.setDoctype("mapping","mapping.dtd");
format.setEncoding("ISO-8859-1");

HFM 933, error executing vb script %0 (for rules file)

i have a HFM rules file that is error-free, but sometimes, when i run a consolidation via SmartView, it is aborted and the error is "Error Executing VB Script %0".
Does anyone know why this occurs?

The error message you shared may not have anything to do with HFM rules. There are a number of things that can generate a VBScript error: HFM rules, HFM custom member lists, or permissions problems/configuration problems with IIS. Smart View uses IIS, so maybe this is a configuration issue there. If you log out and log back in again, perform the very same activity successfully, it could mean you have load balance problem, or some other network related error. If it's a permission problem on the server, it will affect all users in the same way. An HFM member list problem would reveal itself any time the member list is called: whether through HFM's forms, grids, smart view, or Reports.

Open Source API for Flat Files?

I did some searches on SourceForge for a flat-file serializer and deserializer. I know flat files are simple, but I did want to find something that allowed schema-like validations to be declared and enforced. The projects I saw were either abandoned or too simple. Does anyone know of a good open source flat file API? Thanks!

Ok. That one is nice, especially in terms of defining header and trailer records. I also found this one http://sourceforge.net/projects/flatworm/ which allows for multi-line flat-files, which is also nice.
The problem is both only deal with parsing. Granted, writing a serializer even via reflection would not be all that tough. But a few Dukes for you!

Oracle IBR : API for converting files in PDF

IBR and WCC Version : 11.1.1.6.0
Currently We have configured IBR with UCM for converting documents to PDF format. Is there ant IBR API available so that without checking in the document in WCC , we can call the IBR API and get the document converted to PDF and it would be done through synchronous call.

Without having the content in WCC server you can convert it to PDF using the OIT Modules which is the actual engine that does the processing in WCC as well . For doing this you will need to have the PDFExport module deployed on your client machine and then with that conversion can be done .

Infact all the modules of content processing / conversion can be done as an independent stand alone application using OIT . Each of those modules are available from the above link.

Using Jakarta HttpClient API for HTTPS file upload

Any code sample on how to upload a file via the Jakarta HttpClient API?
I tried the PostMethod, not sure I used it right, got response msg from the server response code 301, which indicated the file had been permanently moved. What did that mean? Besides, I didn't see PutMethod have a way to specify the target uploaded file filename, it only take a File object.
Tried the PutMethod as well, but the method I though I can use was "depreciated".
Any idea?

I did. The sample code use the PutMethod and specify the file object. But when I use the similar code, I got 301, which means "File permanently moved". Not sure what that mean.

ODI vs rule file load

Hi all,
I would like to know the difference between loading data to essbase directly using rule files from a rdbms or flat file and loading it with the help of ODI.
And using rule files in ODI interface to load data, what kind of performance and efficiency one can attain with it.

Using a load rule is definitely the best and fastest way to load data when using a ODI data load interface, the load rule method is native to essbase so is optimised for loading and you also get the added functionality which a load rule provides.
If you don't use a load rule then ODI will use a different Java API method which is not as quick as a load rule especially if there are errors in the source data.

In EIS
1) You have to define the Logical OLAP Model connecting to the relational source.It defines the joins between fact table and dimension tables.
2) Based on the OLAP Model You have to create meta outline which defines the rules for loading members and data into essbase.

Error while opening SQL source for a Data Load Rules File

Hi ,I have created Data Laod rules file.When I try to open a SQL source for this rules file (File->Open SQL) , I get an error saying "Your server does not have a SQL connection Option, Please check with your system administrator"Further I get a message "There are no data sources defined. PLease create one to continue.".I have created DSN on my Essbase server.What is the problem.What needs to done to open SQL files.Thanks.
