Essbase load from Excel error

I haven't done an Excel load of data since training, but now that I need one I can't remember some of the issues. I get a "\\ Invalid number in data column" error from my load. Anyone know what might be the problem here?

Hello, Check your load rule by following the steps belowIn the data prep editor, the dimension fields must be placed before the data fields 1. Go to the DATA PREP EDITOR window within Hyperion Essbase Application Manager 2. Select any dimensions fields that are placed after the data fields 3. From the FIELD menu, choose MOVE and re-arrange the fields, so that the data fields come after all the dimension fields. 4. Save the data load rules file by selecting the DISK icon 5. The data load should run without further issues. Let me know if you need any additional information. Ricky [email protected]

The loaded data looks like this:
The data for store C2 is loaded also on store C1 so everything is messed up.
I also have a question regarding dimensions.  I have a model in PAS which has data from different data sources (BW and excel). In excel I have dimensions which are not loaded from BW (they don't exist there). How to create such dimenison?
Thank you a lot in advance.
    Best regards,
    Petra

    Petra,
The Forum isn't really designed as a training system but rather where people can share questions or get a separate pair of eyes to look afresh at issues that aren't working for some reason. This is particularly the case for something which is as important as creating dimensions.
The idea of the SSM Cube Builder/Model Designer was to enable people to build models with their relevant dimensions and metrics for demos and simple initial systems using manual data entry. If you are getting into building dimensions that will be outside BW then you are moving into the implementation arena rather than demo creation and need to work carefully so that things tie up.
I doubt people would expect to be able to set up/implement BW without training and SSM is the same.
If you would like training or would like to collaborate on a first project to enable skills transfer then my colleague Pedro and I would be happy to discuss this. We have done this with other people and it has worked well.
    Regards
    Colin

  • Import from Excel error.

When I try to import updates on activites from Excel I get "est_wt is null for TASK ActivityID" in the error log.  I take an export from my schedule, update the dates, and then this error keeps popping up.

We submitted a bug report about this in May, 2009.
Bug.7381401--- DATA'S NOT GETTING UPDATED AFTER IMPORT WDEF FROM EXCEL 2007.
After updating from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3, the issue has been resolved. I would assume the bug detail is unpublished, which is unfortunate as this info would pop up in a search of the Oracle Support KB and help out others with the same issue.

  • Web Form Import From Excel Error

    Hi all,
I've an issue regarding the import from Excel function in HFM (9.3.1) web forms.
First of all I export in Excel a form, I input data in yellow cells and then I save the file (I don't change the file extencion that remains xls).
Finally I try to import the modified form by using Import from Excel function.
Once the system finish to load shows me a windows saying that "The data have been saved to the DB" (or something similar) but when I open the web form there are no data.
I've checked carefully the POV and it's the same and I'm using an administrative user.
What can I try to do to fix this issue?? Am i doing something wrong?
    Thanks in advance
    Giacomo

  • Essbase Load - Abort on Error

Is there a way in FDM to configure the load to Essase to continue loading after it encounters an error? Right now our loads abort on error.

What kind of error do you mean exactly?
In my case when a member is not in the outline it gives an error after the export but still uploads all the other data.
When an error occurs during the export action (clearing the data for example) then it doesn't load the data because the process is stopped in the Eport action of the adapter.

  • Load from file error with Tomcat

I get the same error when attempting to upload a file for bulk resource actions. I've tried playing with the Tomcat disableUploadTimeout parameter with no luck. Are there any other Tomcat parameters that could affect the upload of these files? When I use the same files with a limited number of lines, the uploads of the csv files work fine. I'm using the following setup:
    Solaris 10 118833_17
Sun System Identity Manager 7.1 (20070523)
    Tomcat Servlet/JSP Container 4.0.5
    MySQL 5.0.60

Your error will be the same as this posting
    Jobs Credentials Problem
What it needs is the Windows User and it needs to have the Local Security privilege 'Log on as a batch job' . This will be probably already assigned to the ORA_DBA group. So enure that the user you use to logon to Windows is in the ORA_DBA group.

  • Difference b/w Loading a Flat File made from EXCEL and NOTEPAD

    Hi
Is there any difference in Loading a flat file made from MS-Excel and Note Pad. Imean performance or errors etc....
    GSR

    S R G,
Theres no much difference only that when loading from excel we store excel in CSV format.  In notepad we use seperators like comma aand write one row at a time, then next....
    Rest everything is same...
thats y it is preferable to load from excel as it is easier to represent and create...

  • How to call a labview dll from excel-VBA?

How to call a simple Labview DLL from Excel VBA?
I have seen examples of DLL calls from VB but does it work the same way for VBA? I have 2000 excel and Labview 8.5. I created the DLL and tried to call it from VBA using the same type of code as in NI's website example(ofcourse its a bit diff with 8.5)
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/...
BUT it errors out when called from excel
ERROR: The object invoked has disconnected from its client

You would need to provide more details about the LabVIEW DLL, such as the prototypes of the functions (VIs) that you're trying to call, and your actual VBA code. Specifically, what object you're trying to create. You should also make sure the Run-Time Enginer is installed, as well as any required libraries such as the VISA Run-Time if you're using VISA. Have you made sure to enable the ActiveX server for the DLL?

  • Error while loading the data from excel to database.

    Hi,
I am using PL/SQL developer to load the data from excel to database. I will set the data source in the control panel and will proceed through ODBC importer in pl/sql developer to import the data.
What exactly the error is when i click the filename to view the result preview it shows an error as:
The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data.
    Kindly help with solution.
    Thanks/Regards
    Sakthivarman J.

    Hello;
That error message comes from Microsoft, so something in you Excel sheet is the cause.
Its a pain but I would check properties of each column in case Excel decided to add something, a comma for example.
Do you have a column over 255 characters? Look there first. If any length is greater than 255 it will crash and burn.
Or convert it to a CSV and create an external table.
    Best Regards
    mseberg
Might also throw an 3163 as an error where you cannot see it.

Maybe you can consider save excel as .csv files and then you can load them as flatfiles to external table in OWB.
