Essbase Report writer Command

How do i turn on Heading for Row dimensions like Account, Unit and Product.

There is no command to turn on row headings. This has bothered people for as long as I know. The way I got around it was to create a file with a single row that had all readers. I turn off headers in the report script and concatinate the one row file with the output from the report script using a batch command after it runs

  • Essbase Report Writer IPARENT

    I have a report that displays level 0. I want to also show the immediate parent of the level 0 member. I have been playing with the "IParent" command, but can't get it to work. It looks like it may work on a single member. This is what I have at the moment.
    <Link (((<LEV("Entities", "Lev0,Entities")) AND ( <IDESC("Total Center")))
    Any ideas how to get the level 0 entities along with the immediate parent?
    Thanks

    Thanks Tim for the response. The code works except that it puts the parent information on a separate line, however I would like to have both the parent and child on a the same line in different columns.You won't be able to do that in an Essbase report script as the Essbase engine will not understand with member you want for the row dimension when it does the retrieve.. You could do this in Excel if you limit the number of range that is retrieved to only include the 'child' column in the row header section of the retrieve.
    Within the same project, I was trying to incorporate "REPMBRALIAS". It works, but I cannot seem to get the member name and alias in two separate columns. Report writer dumps both in the same column, which makes it hard to parse.My guess is that it would be impossible to parse if you have spaces in any member names. Again, if you use Excel to do this functionality, you can turn off 'use both members and aliases' and they will be returned in separate columns.

  • How can I calculate column percentage in Essbase report writer?

    If you think about sample:basic, I have Q1 and Q2 on my columns and PkgType, Bottle and Can on my rows. i want to create a new column "%" and show the quarterly values as a percent of PkgType for the respective quarter. Essbase Analytical Services Technical Reference has this example but it doesn't work on my report, I don't if it's because I have attribute dimension on my rows:
    // This report performs column calculations based on values in a
    // report row.
    <PAGE (Scenario, Product, Market)
    Actual
    <COLUMN (Year)
    Qtr1 Qtr2
    { DECIMAL 2 3 4 }
    { NAMEWIDTH 22 WIDTH 7 3 4 }
    { ORDER 0 1 3 2 4 5 }
    <ROW (Accounts)
    { SAVEROW } Sales
    { CALCULATE COLUMN "%" = 1 % "Sales" 1 }
    { CALCULATE COLUMN "% " = 2 % "Sales" 2 }
    { CALCULATE COLUMN "Avg" = 1 + 2 / 2. }
    <DESCENDANTS Accounts
    Any help will be much appreciated!

    sorry that example was based on Demo:Basic and it does work but when apply that logic to what I try to do, it doesn't work.
    Please see the PkgType example I sent and I am trying to get this result in Sample:Basic.
         Sales     New York     Product     Actual
         Qtr1     %     Qtr2     %
    Pkg Type     7,705     100     9,085     100
    Bottle     5,707     74.07     6,727     74.04512933
    Can     1,998     25.93     2,358     25.95487067
    I tried this script but didn't work:
    <PAGE("Measures","Market","Product","Scenario")
    <COLUMN("Year")
    <ROW("Pkg Type")
    "Sales"
    "New York"
    "Product"
    "Actual"
    "Qtr1"
    "Qtr2"
    "Pkg Type"
    "Bottle"
    "Can"
    { CALCULATE COLUMN "%" = 1% "Pkg Type" 1 }
    { CALCULATE COLUMN "% " = 3 % "Pkg Type" 3 }

  • Essbase report script match pattern on alias

    report scriptHi,
    I need some help on essbase report script.  I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to use the essbase report script command "<MATCH" so that I can match for a pattern on the alias name as opposed to the member name. I have searched the Internet with no luck. Maybe someone in this community knows how to do this.  If you can reply with a specific example that would help me out as I am very visual.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can use <REPALIAS, e.g., for Sample.Basic:
    <REPALIAS "Product"
    <ROW ("Product")
    <MATCH("Product", "Diet*"
    Diet Cola
    (24,761)
    Diet Root Beer   25,185,158,741
    Diet Cream
    23,703,677,612
    Diet Cola
    (24,761)
    Diet Root Beer   25,185,158,741
    Diet Cream
    23,703,677,612
      Diet Drinks
    48,888,811,592
    Using <OUTALT on its own (confusingly, at least as I read the documentation) continues selecting by alias, but displays member name:
    <OUTALT
    <ROW ("Product")
    <MATCH("Product", "Diet*"
    100-20
    (24,761)
    200-20
    25,185,158,741
    300-30
    23,703,677,612
    100-20
    (24,761)
    200-20
    25,185,158,741
    300-30
    23,703,677,612
      Diet
    48,888,811,592
    Without either, the MATCH only looks at member names:
    <ROW ("Product")
    <MATCH("Product", "Diet*"
    Diet
    48,888,811,592

  • Report script command to get all Level 0 members of a given member

    Hi,
    Is there any Report script command to get all Level 0 members of a given member (Parent)? (very similar to @RELATIVE (mbrName, 0) in Calc Scripts).
    <DIMBOTTOM gives all the level 0 members in the dimension.
    There is a command called
    <LEAVES mbrName
    This works only for ASO.
    Is there anything similar for BSO?
    Appreciate your thoughts.
    Thanks,

    from my blog on report scripts at
    http://glennschwartzbergs-essbase-blog.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
    Third, there is a command to stay away from, its DimBottom. [edited] Like @CURRMBR in calc scripts, DimBottom is one of those commands that is very slow. If you use Query designer to create a report, it uses a better way. It uses the link command. In sample.basic to get all level 0 products it uses
    <Link ((<LEV("Product", 0)) AND ( <DESC("Product")))

    you can use the BOE SDK to write a java or .NET program that does this. You can find some examples here:

  • Business Rule variable in Essbase report

    Hi,
    I need to create a report where I will use the variable (created as Business Rules variable e.g.- [BudYear],[CurrVersion] etc) but it is not working. If I use [BudYear] it is just showing the dimension name in report as 'Year'. But when I use any exxbase substitution variable (e.g.- &CurYear etc) it is working fine. So, can it be possible to use business rules variable in essbase reports?
    Can it be possible to save the essbase report in comma delimited format (I am only getting tab delimited option). Please revert back.
    Thanks & Regards.

    As John rightly said, HBR rules are only applicable within HBR. What you want is an Essbase Substitution Variable. So long as the value does not get selected interactively in the HBR, you can use a Substitution Variable instead. An example would be something like current year -- this isn't going to get changed by the users via a Planning form or a prompt.
    HBRs, Calc Scripts, member formulas, load rules, and of course Essbase report scripts can all read substitution variables. See the DBAG for more information. Personally, I only use HBR variables, local or global, for items off the POV or driven by a run-time prompt.
    Unfortunately, a comma delimted file is a pain in a report script -- you have to make your columns fixed length and then use the MASK command to put the commas in -- ugh. However tab delimited files are an option. I've never found an IT group that couldn't handle the latter format.
    You may also go with the the DATAEXPORT calc script command -- a comma delmited output is possible with that command and of course it supports Essbase substitution variables.

  • Write command

    how i can use write in
    event AT SELECTION-SCREEN.

    Hi,
    We can not use the WRITE command in this Event
    The event AT SELECTION-SCREEN is the basic form of a whole series of events that occur while the selection screen is being processed.
    The standard selection screen in an executable program or in the logical database linked to it is automatically called between the INITIALIZATION and START-OF-SELECTION events. When you call the selection screen, and when users interact with it, the ABAP runtime environment generates selection screen events, which occur between INITIALIZATION and START-OF-SELECTION.
    You can define event blocks for these events in your program to change the selection screen or process user input.
    You can use the COMMENT to write the text in the selection screen ..
    To place comments on the selection screen, you use:
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT [/]pos(len) comm [FOR FIELD f]
                                              [MODIF ID key].
    This statement writes the comm comment on the selection screen. For comm, you can specify a text symbol or a field name with a maximum length of eight characters. This character field must not be declared with the DATA statement, but is generated automatically with length len. The field must be filled before the selection screen is called. You must always specify the pos(len) addition. Only if there are several elements in one line can you omit pos.
    The text comm  will be displayed, starting in column pos, for a length of len. If you do not use a slash (/), the comment is written into the current line; otherwise a new line is created.
    You use FOR FIELD f to assign a field label to the comment. f can be the name of a parameter or a selection criterion. As a result, if the user requests help on the comment on the selection screen, the help text for the assigned field f is displayed.
    The MODIF ID keyaddition has the same function as for the PARAMETERS statement. You can use it to modify the comment before the selection screen is called.
    Here is the exampel Program
    REPORT demo_sel_screen_select_comment.
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /2(50) text-001 MODIF ID sc1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN SKIP 2.
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /10(30) comm1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE.
    PARAMETERS: r1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad1,
                r2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad1,
                r3 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE /1(50).
    SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /10(30) comm2.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE.
    PARAMETERS: s1 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad2,
                s2 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad2,
                s3 RADIOBUTTON GROUP rad2.
    SELECTION-SCREEN ULINE /1(50).
    INITIALIZATION.
    COMM1 ='Radio Button Group 1'.
    COMM2 ='Radio Button Group 2'.
      LOOP AT SCREEN.
        IF screen-group1 = 'SC1'.
          screen-intensified = '1'.
          MODIFY SCREEN.

  • Essbase Reports

    Has anyone been able to use the ! operator within essbase reports.Currently I am trying to run a report that extracts data from specific measure and product combinations however the link statement does not work when attempting to extract data from different dimensions.I am now attempting to use the ! operator and split the output of the report as follows:<LINK(<MEMBER("Member1") AND NOT <MEMBER("Member2")!<LINK(<MEMBER("Member2") AND NOT <MEMBER("Member1")!The output is Member1Member1Member2The problem is that Measure1 is repeated within the extract even though I am stating to not extract measure1 after the ! operator.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Using multi-part reports is good for a lot of situations, and may with yours if you re-order the dimensions or selection order, but I'm assuming you have tried:Measure1Measure2Product1Product2!Measure2Product2!The above should work because new selection (subsets) for both dimensions are being made. However, I too have seen cases where multi-part reports have their own peculiar idea of when (or not) to reset selections. Some times it seems to depend on what order the dimensions are listed, or if they are rows or columns. So you could try making sure that the changing selections appear first (before any non-changing selections), so they are not listed contiguously in the report, etc...One alternative approach is to lay the report out with all combinations of the two dimensions in separate columns, then reorder and limit the columns using the order and fixcolumns commands. The sample under fixcolumns will point you in the right direction.

  • Differences Between Report Painter and Report Writer

    Hi,
    Anyone knows the differences between report painter and report writer?
    Thanks,
    CW

    Hello CW Teo,
    Yes report writer can be used in logistics also. One of the way which I am aware of is described below.
    Flexible analyses allow you to can tailor the way in which key figures are combined and aggregated. This means that it is possible to both provide administrators with detailed information and management with aggregated information.
    Flexible analyses enable easy access to the Report Writer, a user-friendly tool with which you can create reports for various analyses. The Report Writer is integrated in other SAP applications, such as Extended General Ledger and Cost Center Accounting.
    Evaluation structures form the interface to the Report Writer. Evaluation structures consist of characteristics and key figures and are easy to construct.An evaluation structure with the same name exists for each information structure in the standard system.Even the self-defined information structures created in Customizing can be evaluated via the flexible analyses.
    Evaluations:You can create an evaluation on the basis of the evaluation structure.
    To define an evaluation, all you need to do is select the characteristics and key figures you require (pick-up technique).One of the especially useful features here is that you have the option of tailoring the layout of your report to suit your particular requirements. You can also define extra key figures for the reports, which are derived from existing key figures by means of calculation formulas. You can thereby multiply the key figures or divide one key figure by another.
    ============================================================
    In addition to the above you can also edit a report in logistics module with the help of a report writer. below mentioned is the process for it.
    It is now possible to edit your report data using the Report Writer. You can also change the layout of the report. The most important functions of the layout design are summarized below.
    Summation levels:In the report screen, you can use the menu sequence View ->Summation level to specify the number of summation used to calculate total values. All totals that do not lie within the specified interval will be hidden. A summation level corresponds to a hierarchical level (for example, material level). Summation level 1 is the lowest hierarchical level. Summation level 2 is the next level up, and so on. The individual values are on the summation level 0.
    The summation levels can be specified both universally (for the entire report) or locally (for specific blocks of rows). In this case, the local settings overwrite global values.
    Report views:If a report is displayed on the screen, the Report Writer will then set page breaks so that exactly one page fits into the current window. This view will be defined as the standard view. As the Report Writer always processes exactly one page, you can only use the page keys and page icons to page up and down; the scroll bars cannot be used.
    The page view can be determined via Settings-> Page view. The page breaks in the page view correspond to those defined in the report layout.
    Hide and show rows:The function Edit->Hide rows exclude certain preselected areas of your report from the display. You can undo this command with Edit ® Show rows.
    Expanding and collapsing report rows:View-> Hierarchy->Collapse allows you to hide the report rows of the sub-trees that are located underneath. View->Hierarchy ->Expand allows you to undo this command level by level.
    If you want to display all the report rows that were hidden by collapsing the hierarchy or restricting the summation levels, select, View->Hierarchy-> Expand all.
    View->Collapse all allows you to reduced every row block to the highest summation level.
    Texts and Annotations:You can create an annotation for your report.
    Select: Extras->Annotation.
    You branch into the text editor of the Report Writer.
    Via the menu sequence Settings->Texts, you can create and format a title page, the last page, as well as headers and footers using word processing functions.
    For example, you can store variables in the header for the author of the report, the date of the selection or the name of the person who last changed the report.
    Layout parameters:Using the menu sequence Settings->Layout you can specify the page format, display form, rows and columns of the report according to your needs and you can determine the settings for the graphics function. You can make these layout settings with Report->Save settings.
    Hope I had been able to help you to some extent. please assign points as reward.

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
    A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • Serial Write - 8Mb file to write. Write command can only do 256 Bytes at a time. How to split up?

    First, thanks for this resource. I've used this forum quite a bit as a "lurker" and it's gotten me this far. Hoping to learn a bit, so I can contribute
    Anyway, my issue is this:
    I am ultimately trying to write an 8Mb binary file to an 8Mb Serial Flash device via the Total Phase Aardvark. The writes to the flash device I am using are limited to 256 bytes per write command. The vi program attached is capable of writing 256 bytes at a time, but not anything more. I realize I need to incorporate some sort of "For Loop" (and I understand that I'd want to do it =(File Size)/256 interations, but I can't seem to figure out how.
    Does anyone have any quick advice to drive me in the right direction?
    Thank you!

    Well, you seem to have answered your own question, so it's not clear what your specific issue is. Is it how to extract 256 bytes at a time?
    As for the code... umm... I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to accomplish with the whole top half of your code, but it seems to me that almost the whole thing can be replaced by a single call to the Read Binary File function. What is the format of these binary files?
