/etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf': No such file or directory

Hi,
First, sorry if this isn't the right section. I was quite hesitant on which one to post in.
I was using OpenVPN a few months ago, it was working great. I left it aside during a moment because I didn't need it.
Recently, I tried to connect to the VPN server I used to use (a friend's server, which is still up and running, I can connect with no problem on my Windows session with openvpn-gui), but I was getting this error each time I tried to connect.
Here's my command line with the error:
[brendan@Archisen openvpn]$ openvpn --config client.conf
Options error: --up script fails with '/etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf': No such file or directory
Options error: Please correct this error.
Use --help for more information.
[brendan@Archisen openvpn]$

up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf
If I remove the "up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf" line, OpenVPN doesn't output any error, but I can barely resolve any domain name.
Do you have an idea on how to fix this?
Thanks.

I "solved" by installing the package 'pcmanfm' and running the following commands:
    mkdir -p /usr/share/lxde/pcmanfm
    cp -a /etc/xdg/pcmanfm/default/pcmanfm.conf /usr/share/lxde/pcmanfm/pcmanfm.conf

I had to create a symbollic link to get my wallpaper to show up.
    ln -s ~/.config/pcmanfm/defaut/pcmanfm.conf ~/.config/pcmanfm/pcmanfm.conf
Since both of the problems seem to me to be confined to archlinux (neither of the problems occur in a gentoo installation,) I would think that the bug should be reported to archlinux and not upstream.

  • [Solved] -bash: /etc/profile.d/bash_completion.sh: No such file or ...

    Hi all.
Did a pacman -Syu yesterday, havn't done this for a while. After this, whenever starting a login shell, I'm getting the following:
-bash: /etc/profile.d/bash_completion.sh: No such file or directory
It seems to be caused by sourcing /etc/profile. Now, my /etc/profile hasn't been changed.
    [ndlarsen@slave ~]$ . /etc/profile
-bash: /etc/profile.d/bash_completion.sh: No such file or directory
    [ndlarsen@slave ~]$ pacman -Qo /etc/profile

    [ndlarsen@slave ~]$ pacman -Qk bash-completion

Now, I'm wondering if this is a bug or feature and what to do about it.
    Cheers.

Correct, seems to be caused by /etc/profile.bash, which I neither have messed with, though difers for some reason.

  • /var/db/BootCaches.playlist 2:no such file or directory appeared after Mavericks update

    Hi all,
I have tried to upgrade my iMac 2009 running 10.6.8, 3.06GHZ, 4GB ram machine and hit upon a grey load up screen and nothing more after the update. I have worked back through everything I could find in these forums as the bellow:
    1. Completed all of the grey screen advice from Apple bar a full wipe and rebuild, but have left this as the last resort
    2. Launched again from back up and reloaded Mavericks only to get the same problem
    3. Tried to launch in Safe mode and the computer quits half way through the status bar and will not launch into Safe mode
    4. Corrected all disk permissions in Disk Utility
    5. Checked my EFI update and am running the latest version
    6. Tried resetting the NVRAM but computer will not work from the keyboard shortcuts
    7. Run Verbose mode where I could see the problem with loading Bootcache which produces the following script /var/db/BootCaches.playlist 2:no such file or directory
    8. Created a carbon copy backup also and am now considering a full wipe
I have updated to Mac Book Airs in the last few weeks, and after the computer auto restarts the program then moves to a new processing screen where it finalises writing script, this point never happened on my iMac and after it restarted it just hung on the grey screen with the Apple logo. It is definitely in the Bootcache problem as this is one of te last processes and matches the amount of time the computer starts working before it heads into the grey hanging screen of death. This is definitely something that mavericks script alters, moves or deletes as I have seen this problem littered across the forums as well as the in ability for Safe mode now to work.
I am back up and running 10.6.8 at current and downloading a new version of Mavericks (more fool me). It could be a drive corruption but am unsure, but the computer s working well on 10.6.8 and has done for a very long time. Has anyone solved this yet, as t s driving me crazy!!!
Any Jedi's out there, I would be most indebted to you!

    Hi all,
Well I thought I would re-post as have found a solution.
I created a bootable USB version of Mavericks using this article here which was very informative: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/apple-in-the-enterprise/how-to-create-a-bootabl e-usb-to-install-os-x-mavericks/
I then rebooted via it, this again caused the grey screen of death as I thought it would, from reboot to reach this screen I held the Option Button. Before I did this I took a cloned copy of the hard drive and also backed-up again to Time Machine. Have over 470GB of music, photos and films, so yes was being a little over precautious.
I then rebooted and went into recovery mode (Cmd and R) and erased my hard drive.
I then rebooted once again but booted from my Mavericks USB version now with a clean hard drive, and set-up completed as expected with no problems. Its working beautifully at current but am yet to migrate files using the migration assistant, but once I have the new Mavericks version of my machine backed-up I will complete the migration, fingers crossed!
A few days of pain, but was a good learning experience. It was more difficult than it should be to created a bootable USB, but luckily I had another mac to work on and a decent back-up drive.
    Hopefully helpful to others!

  • Sound gone after update - no such file or directory

I updated my mythtv machine tonight, sound is gone.  I get an arts informational message that "device: default can't be opened for  playback (no such file or directory)
Sound was working fine before the upgrade.
I got some alsa errors right after upgrade, just before the logon screen, but couldn't locate them in any log.  I reran alsaconf and it seemed to set up fine.  Running alsamixer gives me just one column, (playback) rather than the multiple mixer columns I had previously.  alsactl store does not save the setting I put in here.
The upgrades included ivtv-utils; there was something about using jack as a control; I'm still trying to figure out exactly what jack is and how it might fit into all of this, but I downloaded and ran qjackctl, it failed with error messages.

Do you get sound in any other applications besides myth?

  • What does it mean?? /etc/master.passwd:No such file or directory fou

So I finally got the Mac after 7 years of savings and when I installed FinalCut turned it off and then turned it back on this screen shows up stating
/etc/master.passwd:No such file or directory found
    -sh-2.05b# CSRHIDTransitionDriver::stop
    IOBluetoothHCIController:: start Idle Timer Stopped
I tried restarting I tried the PRAM and those don't work. What do I do to fix this situation. I am so sad that when I am ready to get to work on my computer this problem arises. Experts Please Help!!

That is an odd error. I assume you are running OS 10.5. Pease open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. Paste this command into Terminal:
    <pre style='font-family: Monaco;width: 90%; margin: auto; padding: 5px; border: 1px solid #B1B5B9; background: #EEEFF1;'>ls /etc/master.passwd</pre>
then press "return". You should see something like this:
    -rw------- 1 root wheel 3088 Sep 23 15:37 /etc/master.passwd
If you do not, then the file has somehow gone missing. If the file looks OK, it's possible your permissions need repairing, or that some daemon is not running.

  • Please Help!! /etc/master.passwd: no such file or directory.

:( after I had restored my iMac with mount -uw /....
I had lost everything even my etc and var folder, and after I had finished restore I started up my iMac with a black screen saying /etc/master.passwd: no such file or directory. -sh-2.05b. I had tried all everything I could do and nothing seem to happen, and also I don't have my install disk or any disc, would you please help me I won't to use my computer again.

Boot to the Recovery HD partition, Command + r keys at startup, or the Online Internet recovery system, Command + Option/Alt + r keys at startup and hold them down until you see a globe on the screen and from the resulting Mac OS X Utilities screen that comes up with either select Reinstall Mac OS X.
Not sure what you were trying to do, you aren't making that clear with the terminal command you supposedly used, but whatever it was fouled up your system and you will need to reinstall OS X or restore from a Time Machine backup.

  • Sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: No such file or directory sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting

I am trying to empty my trash but it wouldn't . so I ran this command sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash/* in the terminal
    I got an error message
"sudo: unable to stat /etc/sudoers: No such file or directory
sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting"
does anyone have a clue? thanks

First, never use the shell (Terminal) to empty the Trash. It's dangerous and unnecessary, and it usually doesn't work.
A necessary system file is missing. If you know how that happened, restore it from a backup. Otherwise, see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Macbook pro says /etc/master.passwd: no such file or directory

macbook pro says /etc/master.passwd: no such file or directory

A quick search seems to point to the same answer:
Your master password file is corrupt. You must reinstall OS X to fix it.
I realise that doesn't help, but its the only answer I found.

    And the system boots.
I found a thread explaining that there is a sysV runlevel specified in kernel boot line. I am not sure if I am looking at the proper file, but my /boot/grub/grub.cfg does not contain "runlevel".

I ran pacman -S linux, /etc/mkinitcpio.conf does not contain a reference to plymouth: HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block filesystems keyboard fsck"
Just checked with my laptop, both computers run systemd-204-3, neither have /bin/plymouth, but the laptop does not fail with this message

Never mind, I solved the problem by simply putting an absolute path in packaging.conf. Still, I'd like to understand what happened with Tomcat after my restart...

  • Error 0(Native: listNetInterfaces:[3]) and error while loading shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    Hi Gurus,
I'm trying to upgrade my test 9.2.0.8 rac to 10.1 rac. I cannot upgrade to 10.2 because of RAM limitations on my test RAC. 10.1 Clusterware software was successfully installed and the daemons are up with OCR and voting disk created. Then during the installation of RAC software at the end, root.sh needs to be run. When I run root.sh, it gave the error: while loading shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. I have libpthread.so.0 in /lib. I looked up on metalink and found Doc ID: 414163.1 . I unset the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL in vipca (unsetting of LD_ASSUME_KERNEL was not required in srvctl because there was no LD_ASSUME_KERNEL in srvctl). Then I tried to run vipca manually. I receive the following error: Error 0(Native: listNetInterfaces:[3]). I'm able to see xclock and xeyes. So its not a problem with x.

    10.1.1.2 sunny2prv.ezhome.com sunny2prv
    My questions are:
should ping on sunny1vip and sunny2vip be already working? As of now they dont work.
if you look at oifcfg getif, I initially had eth1 10.0.0.0 global cluster_interconnect,eth0 192.168.2.0 global public then I created eth1 10.1.1.0 global cluster_interconnect with setif. Should it be 10.1.1.0 or 10.0.0.0. I looked at the subnet calculator and it says for 10.1.1.1, 10.0.0.0 is the subnet. In metalink they had used 10.10.10.0 and hence I used 10.1.1.0
Any ideas on resolving this issue would be very much appreciated. I had been searching on oracle forums, google, metalink but all of them refer to DOC Id 414163.1 but it does n't seem to work. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Once I execute the add nodeapps command as root on node 1, I was able to get vip exists for config nodeapps on node 2. The above 2 statements resulted me with same values on both nodes. After this I executed root.sh on both nodes, I did not receive any errors. It said CRS resources are already configured.
My questions to the gurus are as follows:
Should ping on vip work? It does not work now.
srvctl status nodeapps -n sunny1pub(same result for sunny2pub)
VIP is not running on node: sunny1pub
GSD is not running on node: sunny1pub

Will crs_stat and srvctl status nodeapps -n sunny1pub work after I upgrade my database or should they be working now already? I just choose to install 10.1.0.3 software and after running root.sh on both nodes, I clicked ok and then the End of installation screen appeared. Under installed products, I see 9i home, 10g home, crs home. Under 10g home and crs home, I see cluster nodes(sunny1pub and sunny2pub) So it looks like the 10g software is installed.

    Hi,
Yes, i was able to fix the issue. The template associated with the bursting process needs to be in a single table. I had 2 separate tables due to which the program was completing with error. When i placed both those tables in a single table the issue was resolved.
    Regards,
    Anand

Here once again a failed attempt after removing pacman-color. I am beginning to think that maybe running yaourt as sudo is probably a bad idea. I think that may have had something to do with it.

Quite confusing statements. Below sHyLoCk recommends http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=37738 on June 2 2010 and on June 27 he declares his recommended package obsolet and ask a TU to delete! The problem with the sHyLoCk package is there is not page setup option. So I installed this package, it has got the page setup menu, but once I click the option, the application dies with the following output (Maybe helpful to debug for the maintainer, I am not an expert):
