    Hi...
    Please let me know..how to evoke event handling in iviews..thru sap netweaver in ep.

    Hi,
    For iview event handling you can use EPCF (<b>Enterprise Portal Client Framework (EPCF) provides an infrastructure for scripting used in iViews and by the portal</b>.)

  • How to write an JavaScript Event Handler for Portal Form?

    I have created an form in Portal builder.
    There are two column, R04 and R05.
    I need to use Javascript Event Handler to check if R04 value is smaller than R05 value.
    Can I be able to build up this function?
    Can anyone give me a hint? or steps?
    Thanks

    Here are some suggestions.
    1. do what we did, and write your own protocol server that understands whatever custom commands you need, and then write a custom thin client which will send commands to and receive responses from this protocol server. you can use any language for the client software. the protocol server should be written in java so that it can receive commands from the client and then use the 9iFS API to execute the requests or retrieve the data that the client wants to display.
    2. write a custom fat client, in java, that accesses the 9iFS API directly. this means that each client will be accessing the iFS schema on the database machine directly. if you configure the iFS service on the client to use the THIN driver, then you won't need to install the Oracle client software on the client machine. You'll just need all the iFS .jar files and the database's JDBC driver (classes12.zip). Note that using the THIN driver is not supported because of bugs and performance problems. If you use the OCI8 driver, which is supported, then you'll have to install the whole Oracle client software package on the client machine.
    3. write a thin client that uses the WebDAV protocol, and communicate with our built-in DAV server. this approach will allow you to execute any command that DAV understands. you may be able to find some free HTTP or DAV client software on the net, or you can try writing it yourself. this is probably a better solution than number 1 unless you really need to send custom commands that are not in our DAV server's vocabulary.

  • Event Handling in portal application

    Hi friends,
      In portal application i have defined two methods called "docontent" and "docompute".here iam giving the code.
    package com.seal;
    import com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.*;
    public class abstract1 extends AbstractPortalComponent
    public void doContent(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response)
    response.setContentType(PortalComponentContentType.HTML);
    IPortalComponentURI uri = equest.createPortalComponentURI);
    uri.setPortalRequestEventrequest.createRequestEven"compute"));response.write("<form action=\"" + uri.toString() +
    "\" method=\"post\">" + "<table>" + "<tr><td>" + "Enter your name" + "</td>" +"<td>" + "<input type=\"text\" me=\"expression\" value=\"" +name + "\">" + "</td></tr>" + "<tr><td></td><td>" +     "<input type=\"submit\" value = \"Tell" + "\">" +"</td></tr>" + "</table>" + "</form>");
    public void doCompute(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalRequestEvent event)
    System.out.println("doCompute");
    try {
    name = event.getData().getAttribute("expression");
    state = WELCOME_STATE;
    } catch (NullPointerException npe) {
    For the doCompute method am getting the following the
    error: no other errors am getting xcept this.
    IportalRequestEvent cannt be resolved(or is not valid type) for the argument of the method docompute.
    Can anybody please help me how to solve it.
    Thanks and regards
    sireesha

    hi sireesha,
    glad to know that I have been of some help to you .
    When you do source->Organise Imports the NWDS automatically calls all the imports that are necessary for your code provided that these import packages are on your build path . Hope this answers your question.

  • How to trigger navigation to a portal iView from server side event handler

    Hi,
    I am modifying the workset map application. I have created custom URL links under each iView which should navigate to different iViews depending on some business logic. So I had to provide a custom event handler for these iVIew links and the path to the next iview is dynamically created by the code in the event handler. Once the new PCD path is generated, the event handler should trigger a navigation to that PCD object. Which APIs can I use to trigger this navigation from the server side event handler? I have done this before in webdynpro where we used WDPortalNavigation (.absoluteNavigation or .relativeNavigation). Is there something similar that i can use in this case (i.e. when developing a simple Portal Application from an AbstractPortalComponent)?

    Hi,
    On my understanding of your requirement.
    the best solution what i think is use Object Based Navigation(OBN).
    Is much suitable to your requirement.
    Moreover you can use
    1.Relative navigation
    2.Absolute navigation.
    In the same way how you used in web dynpro.
    Same thing can be done in abstract portal component also.
    Try using that.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Lokesh

  • Event Handler Exception

    Hi Friends,
    I am trying to call a BAPI from a webdynpro application when a user
    hits a button in a table. The table will have a button for each entry.
    There is an iView that has the table, a custom controller that executes
    the BAPI (model).
    I am setting the value of the custom controller context at the onAction event handler of the iView and calling the method executeBAPI once the user hits the button. The problem is it works fine for the first time. If the user hits another button of the table on the same screen it throws a nullPointer exception. ie all the subsequent calls fail.
    What could be wrong?

  • Event Handling in Abstract Portal Component

    Hi Friends,
    I am using HTMLB Classlib in an Abstract Portal Component to develop a Dropdownlistbox. Now I want to handle the event of change of selection in this dropdown. However, this event is not getting captured. Sample code is as follows:
    public class dropdownsimple extends AbstractPortalComponent
                           public void onClick(Event event)
                           public void doContent(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response)
                                                    IPageContext myContext1 = PageContextFactory.createPageContext(request, response);
              Form myForm = myContext1.createFormDocument("CRMForm");
              GridLayout myGrid = new GridLayout();
              DropdownListBox drp = new DropdownListBox("drp");
              drp.addItem("Key 1","Item 1");
              drp.addItem("Key 2","Item 2");
              drp.setOnSelect("onClick");
                                                     myGrid.addComponent(1, 1, drp);
              myForm.addComponent(myGrid);
              myContext1.render();
    I am able to see the dropdown box along with values when I preview the PAR iView created from this component. Please let me know how to capture the event of change of selection in the dropdown?
    Edited by: Shetul Chothani on Jun 21, 2011 6:37 AM

    Hi,
    Change this line
    drp.setOnSelect("onClick");
    to
    drp.setOnSelect("click");
    and leave the line
    public void onClick(Event event)
    as it is, and it should work just fine.
    I.e., if you name your event "fooBar", the event handler should be named "onFooBar"
    Cheers,

  • Portal Eventing between WDP Java iView & non-WDP iView

    Dear Experts,
    I have 1 Web DynPro Java iView and 1 non-Web DynPro (using JSPDynPage and JSP) iView, both attached to a page. When Web DynPro Java iView fire a portal raise event, the portal iView did not execute the javascript function tied to the event subscribed.
    Here is the code snippet which reside in the Web DynPro Java iView that is used to fire the event
    String param = "test";
    WPortalEventing.fire("urn:com.company.Test1", "TestEvent", param);
    This the code snippet that is in the jsp page
    function notifyTest(param){
          // code to print param value is here
    EPCM.subscribeEvent("urn:com.company.Test1", "TestEvent", notifyTest);
    Note:
    1. When Web DynPro Java iView fire the portal event the entire page is refreshed, including the non-WDP iView.
    2. When EPCM is replaced with window.top.EPCM, the page is refreshed, it is totally hanged with progress bar.
    Can anyone help to solve this problem?
    Edited by: CloudSOmnislash on Apr 8, 2009 6:06 PM

    Kumar, Rui,
    I have all my code inside a web dynpro component. All that I have in dynpro to work with (or that's what I know so far) is a WDPortalEventing object that I can use to access the fire, subscribeEvent and unsubscribeEvent methods. I still haven't found a way to get to the actual EPCM object that the Portal runtime gives you through javascript. And even if I get there, how am I supposed to write javascript in my dynpro code and later pass the value stored in the client data bag to the web dynpro context ?
    Simon,
    I had tried a small app yesterday and it didn't work when the iViews were not assigned to the same page. I will see if I can change my code anymore and get it working. I will make fresh posts to this thread as and when I find anything that works. In the mean time, if you have webdynpro iViews that talk to each other across pages, do let me know how you are doing it!
    Thanks for your replies...

  • Portal Event Handler

    Hi,
    This is regarding passing portlet parameters to the event handler. Whenever an event is raised, I have been using a javascript function, which constructs the URL to the portal event handler and then submits the form. The url would look like
    http://host:port/portal/event?event_Param=xyz&_eventName_event1=event1
    (The query strings for dad, schema etc are not shown in the url above, but they are aslo passed).
    Is this the only way that one raises an event? Is there a method by which I can pass the the portlet parameters hidden in the request, so that they dont show up in the URL string?
    I tried doing a "POST" form submission, but the portal didnot respond to this action.
    Thanks.
    Jitendra

    Hi,
    As there is no such event for item published, we can detect the level of publication of the corresponding file using the
    SPFile.Level property in the ItemUpdated event, there will be three levels:
    Published, Draft, Checkout.
    Here is a code demo about how to check whether a file is published in ItemUpdated event:
    public override void ItemUpdated(SPItemEventProperties properties)
    base.ItemUpdated(properties);
    SPListItem item = properties.ListItem;
    SPFile file = item.File;
    //if the file is published
    if (file.Level == SPFileLevel.Published)
    Feel free to reply if there are still any questions.

  • Javascript embedded in button pl/sql event handler not being executed

    Javascript calls not working from pl/sql button event handler. What am I missing? Are specific settings needed to execute javascript from pl/sql proceedures?
    Example: Want to toggle target='_blank' off and on in a button pl/sql event handler to open url call in new window & then reset when processing submit is done & the app returns to the form.
    portal form button's pl/sql submit handler:
    begin
    htp.p('<script language=JavaScript>') ;
    htp.p('this.form.target="_blank"') ;
    htp.p('</script>') ;
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target('http://www.oracle.com') ;
    htp.p('<script language=JavaScript>') ;
    htp.p('this.form.target="_blank"') ;
    htp.p('</script>') ;
    end ;
    Putting the following in the button's javascript on_click event handler works great:
    this.form.target='_blank'
    to force opening new window with a call in the button's submit pl/sql code via:
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target('http://www.oracle.com') ;
    but then the target='_blank' is left on when the submit is done & we return to the form.
    putting the above javascript as a function (called fcn_newpage) elsewhere (e.g., after form opens) & calling in the submit pl/sql with
    htp.p('fcn_newpage') ;
    also doesn't work.
    Metalink thought this was an application issue instead of a bug, so thought I'd see if anyone knows what's going wrong here. (Portal 9.0.4.1)

    thanks for your discussion of my post.
    Please clarify:
    "htp.p('fcn_newwindow') sends a string":
    What would you suggest the proper syntax for a function fcn_newwindow() call from a pl/sql javascript block that differs from
    htp.p('<script language="Javascript">') ;
    htp.p('fcn_newwindow');
    htp.p('</script>');
    or more simply
    htp.p('fcn_newwindow') ;
    More generally, what I'm trying to figure out is under what conditions javascript is executed, if ever, in the pl/sql of a button (either the submit or custom event handler, depending on the button).
    I've seen lots of posts asking how to do a simple htp.p('alert("THIS IS TROUBLE")') ; in a pl/sql event handler for a button on a form, but no description of how this can be done successfully.
    In addition to alerts, in my case, I'd like to call a javascript fcn from a pl/sql event handle that would pass a URL (e.g., http://www.oracle.com) where the javascript fcn executed
    window.open(URL). The API call to set_target(URL) in pl/sql has no ability to open in a new window, so calling that is inadequate to my needs and I must resort to javascript.
    Its clear in the PL/SQL of a button, you can effect form components since p_session..set_target & p_session.get_target set or get the contents of form components.
    So to see if javascript ever works, I tried to focus on something simple that only had to set what amounts to an enviromental variable when we returned to the form after a post. I chose to try to change the html value of TARGET from javascript in the PL/SQL button because it doesn't need to be implemented until we finish the post and return to the form.
    So I focused on a hack, setting this.form.TARGET='_blank' in the on_click event handler that forced every subsequent URL call or refresh of the form to be a new window. I then wanted to turn off opening new windows once I'd opened the URL call in a new window by setting TARGET='' in the portal form. I can achieve what I want by coding this.form.TARGET='' in the javascript (on_focus, on_change, or on_mousedown, ...) of every form component that might refresh the form. However, that is a ridiculous hack when a simple htp.p('<script>') ; htp.p('this.form.target=""') ; htp.p('</script>') ; at the end of the button's pl/sql event handle should do the same thing reliably if javascript ever works in the pl/sql event handler.
    If we didn't have access to form components through p_session calls, I'd assume it was a scope issue (what is available from the pl/sql event handler). But unless my syntax is just off, when, if ever, can javascript be used in a portal form's pl/sql event handler for a button?
    if I code a javascript funtion in the forms' pl/sql before displaying form:
    htp.p('<script language="JavaScript">') ;
    htp.p('function fcn_new_window(URL)') ;
    htp.p('window.open(URL)' ) ;
    htp.p('</script>') ;
    the function can be called from a button's on_click javascript event handler:
    fcn_new_window('http://www.oracle.com')
    but from the same button's pl/sql submit event handler this call doesn't work: htp.p('fcn_new_window("http://www.oracle.com")')
    So my questions remain: Is there other syntax I need, or does javascript ever work properly from the pl/sql of a form button's event handler? If it doesn't work, isn't this a bug that should be fixed by Oracle?
    I can probably figure out hacks to make things work the way I need, but executing javascript from pl/sql event handlers seems to be the expected way to affect portal html pages (forms, reports, ...) and it seems not to work as expected. I don't feel I should have to implement hacks for something as simple as calling a javascript function from pl/sql when almost every example I've found in metalink or the forums or Oracle Press's "portal bible" suggests using javascript from pl/sql via the utility htp.p() to effect web page components in portal.
    My TAR on the subject, while still open, returned the result basically: "We can reproduce your situation. Everything looks okay to us, but we can't explain how to use javascript where you want or point you to any documentation that would solve your problem or expain why it should not work the way you want it to. We don't feel its a technical issue. Why don't you post the problem on the portal applications forum."
    I'm hoping I'm just missing something fundamental and everything will work if I implement it a little differently. So if anyone sees my error, please let me know.
    by the way, not sure this is germain, but in reference to your comment:
    "redirections in pl/sql procedures give a peculiar result. in a pl/sql procedure, usually, portals give the last redirection statement and ignore anything else coming after it."
    if I try to raise an alert:
    htp.p('alert("you screwed up")');
    return;
    in a pl/sql event handler, it still doesn't raise the alert, even though its the last thing implemented in the event handler. But if I set the value of a text box using p_session..set_value_as_string() at the same spot, it correctly sets the text box value when I return to the form.

  • How to show a message in a form 'PL/SQL Button Event Handler'

    We need validate the sal of an employee, and if it is bigger the value musts
    not be inserted.
    We trying a code like the one shown in the note 134312.1 'HOW TO PASS A
    PARAMETER FROM A PORTAL FORM TO A STORED PROCEDURE' and it works in the insert event of the insert button (using 'PL/SQL Button Event Handler') and it works, but we need to show a message that says the data wasn't inserted. How can we do this?
    The code we used is:
    declare
    v_deptno scott.emp.deptno%type;
    v_empno scott.emp.empno%type;
    v_sal scott.emp.sal%type;
    mySal scott.emp.sal%type;
    v_string varchar2(256);
    blk varchar2(10):='DEFAULT';
    begin
    select sal into mySal from scott.emp where empno=7369;
    v_deptno:=p_session.get_value_as_number(p_block_name=>blk,
    p_attribute_name=>'A_DEPTNO');
    v_empno:=p_session.get_value_as_number(p_block_name=>blk,
    p_attribute_name=>'A_EMPNO');
    v_sal:=p_session.get_value_as_number(p_block_name=>blk,
    p_attribute_name=>'A_SAL');
    v_string:='You just inserted empno: '||to_char(v_empno) ||'to deptno ->
    '||to_char(v_deptno);
    if mySal < v_sal then
    doInsert;
    else
    -- We want to display a message here, when mySal > v_sal
    end if;
    end;
    ----------------------------------

    I did something similar but wasn't using a stored procedure. Couldn't you set a flag variable once you know you're not doing the insert and in the "before displaying the form" section put an IF to check if your flag was set, and if so do an HTP.Print('You are overpaid buddy!');
    Then just reset your flag.

  • Drop Down List in ALV with Event handler

    Hi All ,
    I have created an ALV grid with a dropdown as one of the columns. This all works fine, except that I want to be able to react to a change in the value of each line's dropdown the next column values should change according to the user selection in the 1st column .
    Is this possible?
    As an example, I have a table of records with one column as a dropdown called " Replace Function Module "   and in 2nd column i have call function of that Replace Function Module , If a  change in " Replace Function Module " should change the call function of in the 2nd column .
    I am using these objects lvc_t_drop , lvc_s_drop and  the method  " set_drop_down_table ",
    Please Can any 1 tel me how to do this with any event handler ar any other way !

    Hi,
    You need to use event handler for this. Check if the below link gives some direction.
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/cda3992d-0e01-0010-90b2-c4e1f899ac01|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/cda3992d-0e01-0010-90b2-c4e1f899ac01]
    I guess you should create a method inside which you call the FM using the FM name from the selected cell in ALV.
    I have not tried it out, but its worth a try.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can any bady send the WDJ application on event handler & plug  parameters?

    Hi,
    Experts,
    I have no idea no WDJ Event handler and plug parameters usage if any bady can send me few WDJ application or scenarios which is based on event handler parameters and plug parameters and method parameters.
    Thans in advance,
    Shaber Ahmed.

    Hi
    Use this pdf(Example) for event handler
    http://www.sappro.com/downloads/WebDynproJava.pdf
    for plug parameters usage

  • Eventing between Web Dynpro iView and regular DynPage iView

    I have seen, done eventing between two dynpage iviews and two webdynpro iviewsHowever, and gone through "How to Use the Portal Eventing for Web Dynpro iViews". However, I have been trying to have a webdynpro iview talk to a dynpage iview but they just won't communicate. Is this even possible?
    Ok basically I have a portal page in a popup window with no masthead and top level navigation. The page has two iviews -  the top one being an iView that points to a webdynpro application on Server A, and the bottom one being a dynpage iview on the Portal Server B.
    In the webdynpro iview, the code for when a button is clicked is
    public onSomeAction(Event event) {
        WDPortalEventing.fire("urn:myUrn","eventName","value");
    In the dynpage iview, the code i have for it is
    myServ = (IEpcfToolbox) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(IEpcfToolbox.KEY);
    myReceiver = myServ.getClientEventReceiver(request, "urn:myUrn", "eventName");
    form.addRawText(myReceiver.getWrappedScript());
    try {
        if (!myReceiver.isReceived()) {
            form.addComponent(createMainScreen());
        } else {
         form.addComponent(new TextView("event received!"));
    } catch (Exception e) {
        form.addComponent(createErrorScreen());
    I tried all the things I could think of but the receiving iView just won't get the event fired.
    Can someone confirm that this should work? and correct me where I've done wrong.
    Please help. this is very urgent. your help will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance
    PS. My environments are EP 6.0 SP2 and WAS 6.40 SP14

    I am no direct access to the boxes so I can't try your suggestion. It really makes sense that eventing won't work if the iViews are on different domains. I know they are in the same domain but different subdomains.
    Anyway, good news I got eventing to work with the mentioned set. I found that that the SAP Java EPCFToolbox API had a bug that kept throwing javascript errors when I tried to have the web dynpro iview fire an event and the SAP one subcribed to it.
    I got around it but using the EPCF Javascript API instead.
    Code:
    response.write("<script>");
    response.write("EPCM.subscribeEvent('urn:dla.telework', 'createPdf', doSomething);");
    response.write("function doSomething() {");
    response.write("window.location = self.location + '&eventReceived=true';");
    response.write("}");
    response.write("</script>");
    So basically just output raw text through the response object and it just works.
    On a similar topic, since eventing can only pass string parameters back and forth, I'm still looking for a way to pass other more complex Java objects between web dynpro and sap iviews. From what I haven't they don't share the same session object (which I thought they did). So basically I can't just stick stuff in the session and pull it down on the other end. I'm clueless right now. If anybody has some tips, plesae share. Thanks
