Ever since I loaded the firefox 3.6.8 update, I can't see the AdBlock Plus icon on my menu bar - which means I can't make exceptions for pages I don't want AdBlock to block.

I've never had any trouble with this add-on before. Only afgter updating Firefox to version 3.6.8 has this happened. Anybody know what's going on here??

Go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, click AdBlock Plus, clip Options, in the ABP Preferences window, click Options, place a check mark next to "Show in toolbar" and/or "Show in Status Bar", click OK in the ABP Preferences window.
The icon will show in the Status Bar. To get the icon on the toolbar, click View > Toolbars > Customize, locate the ABP icon in the Customize Toolbar window, drag it to the position you want it on the toolbar, click Done in the Customize Toolbar window.

Keeping Firefox Icon in my Menu Bar

I use Mac OSX Tiger. I cannot keep the Firefox Icon in my Menu Bar, which means each time I turn on the computer I have to fuss with getting the icon in my menu bar. Can anyone advise?

Typically when you install Firefox you download a .dmg file (disk image file), which if you double-click, will open and show a Firefox icon. To install Firefox, you'd drag that icon to the Applications folder. Then you would close the window that opened when you double-clicked on the .dmg file.
To run Firefox you would double-click on the Firefox icon in the Applications folder, not the dmg window.
To install the Firefox icon in the "dock" (what you call the menu bar), drag the Firefox icon from the Applications folder to the dock.
(My suspicion is that instead you dragged the icon from the dmg window to the dock.)
I'd recommend that you not have Firefox running while you attempt any of the above actions.

It's not specific sites. I can middle-click on the same link 50 times and it will open it in a new tab 45 times and 5 of those times, it will randomly open it in an entirely new window. I don't know what's causing this.

I've been working on this all day!!! I've tried everything I know of and can't get it to load either. Sounds like lots of people are having problems. Here is what I have so far...I have uninstalled EVERYTHING on my pc from apple and reinstalled itunes to no avail. I have tried all sorts of things I've read as fixes online. NOTHING has worked. Here is something interesting that i have noticed though. my main pc (which is the one i have always managed my itunes account with for years) is a 32 bit system running windows 7. Yesterday I installed itunes for the first time on my new netbook which is a 64 bit (windows 7) system and it works just fine. i have three other laptops (all window 7) in my household that are all 64 bit operating systems and ALL have updated to 10.5 and THEY ALL work fine. this is FOUR 64 bit systems ALL updated w/10.5 that work and ONE that is a 32 bit that will not. Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!

Both of these are adware/spyware and cause performance issues in Firefox.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Upgrading to firefox 5 and updating my plug-ins helped a bit. Frog is less 'sticky' now, but it's not solved the problem. Java needs to be up to speed or the frog goes into stasis....
