Correct. All sync features are turned off and if is 'manually manage' somewhere, I have checked the box to do so. So basically everything is set for me to manage manually, yet my iPod playlists are still being deleted.

If this is indeed the first time that you have used your Apple ID in the iTunes or App store you do need to have a payment method the first time you set it up:
Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method
If you've already created your Apple ID, you'll need to add a payment method when you first use it to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. But you can optionally remove the payment methodafter you sign in to the store. You won't be asked for a payment method again until you make your first purchase.

My guess would be it has created an entirely new backup of your drive when you upgraded to Mavericks.

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

Every time I click on Safari...I have to reconnect using diagnostics...why can't I just click on Safari and be connected? I was told by a computer tech that it was a Mac problem!

Every time I close my lid to my Macbook Pro, the computer screen goes black and restarts before I can use it again. Any idea how I can fix this?

I think the behaviour of closing the lid has changed between "before Lion" and "since Lion" - which OS version do you have? There is a free utility called InsomniaX that help control this behaviour - see http://semaja2.net/archives/206 for more info.

Safari on my macbook pro keeps closing seconds after i open it

Everytime I open safari on my macbook pro it closes in about 30 seconds and asks me to send a report to apple. I know that my wireless internet is working - I can use facetime or the app store just fine. Any suggestions?

Then restart your Mac.
Try Safari.
