Everytime I open a project it indexs all the files again
I just started to use CC after CS6, 5.5,5, 4 ....
What is with the indexing and peak file generating all the time?
Please tell me someone is there a way to stop this?
I just captured 12 hours of tape last night I left it on all night so it could take care of this. Then this morning I had to open a different project and when I went back to this one it started all over again.

Zooropa75, can I ask where you initially had your audio conforms located?
We work in a network environment with about 3 PP seats and initially had very similar troubles to what you describe with CS6 after switching from FCP7. To work around the problem we kept all non-media material on the OS system drive. Over the next few weeks we gradually shifted them back till we found a stable solution.
Our setup (that touch wood has worked well for the past few months) has been the following:
PP projects: NAS
Source media: NAS (Same as project)
Auto-saves: Documents (local OS drive)
Preview renders: Same as project
Capured A/V: Same as project
Media Cache Files: Default (Users/../Library/App Support/Adobe/Common)
Media Cache Database: Default (Users/../Library/App Support/Adobe/Common)
Untick Save Media Cache next to originals
I also time server synced the clocks between our suites and the NAS just for kicks.
We found (presumably) when the conforms and indexes were stored on the shared drive each different user would read the metadata and trick PP into thinking changes had occured to the metadata, causing an endless cycle of reconforming whenever the project bounced around the suites.
I don't want to suggest the above will work in your case, but it solved the very, very frustrating problem for us.

Read all the files in a folder over and over again
I want to develop an application that reads all the files in a folder, and once its done reading those files it reads all the files again.
The purpose for this application is to read all the files in a folder that are continuously being stored in that folder, so that when a new file is created, that file is also read by the application. I then need to compare the date and time in which the file was created to the actual date and time of the system, so that way I can get the most recent file, and then I will do other operations with this file.
The thing is that I know how to read all the files in a directory, but I don't know how to cycle through those files again, in order to look for the most recent one, and I don't know how to make the comparison of the time stamps, because I need a precision of one second in the system time and the time the file was created.
Can someone please help me?

Go to Solution.I think that I just went the wrong direction.
What I wanted to do in the first place, was to rename and overwrite every new file in a directory with the same name and file extension, so that every new file overwrites the old file. The thing is that the list folder only lists the files the first time and then keeps on telling me there are no files to be read even though there are new files.
What I need now is a way to overwrite the old files with the same name, and keep searching for every new file that is going to be stored in the directory.
I will leave the code that I have right now, so that you can tell me what do I need to modify in order to read every new file that's going to be created in that directory.

Thumbnails rebuilt everytime I open a project
Everytime I open a project file, the thumbnails for each asset is rebuilt from scratch. This includes video clips and pictures. I'm currently editing a project with a substantial number of clips and having to wait everytime when I open a bin for all the thumbnails to be rebuilt is definitely time-consuming.
Is there a setting I'm missing? Do I have to structure assets in a certain way? I've tried generating thumbnails using bridge (and having those saved to the folder) but premiere won't read those (I suspected as much but it was worth a try).This is just the way PP works. Those thumbs are not stored on disk, only memory.

You cannot access the content of a file that is not open. Your script can open and close files in the background if it's written that way.

One contains the names of all subdirectories the other the names of all files. If you want to sort them by name use the array sort function. If you want to sort them by another attribute use the File/Directory Info function to get more data. Use a cluster which contains the attribut to sort and the original index of the name. Then sort this array.

For the first time, I'm trying to use adobe premiere elements 10 that came with my pc Windows 8. I created a single project, saved it but cannot open it. My pc shows the file I created but I get an error message that says this type file is not supported or the codex is not installed. As a test, I created another very small project and get the same error message, when I try to open it. Pls give me a simple answer, a refund or a phone

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on? And, what video card/graphics card does that computer use?
Is this the first time you are using Premiere Elements 10 or have you worked with it before successfully? There is no easy solution until we
know the details and troubleshoot to determined what caused the problem.
1. Can you open a new project?
2. After you saved/closed the problem project, did you move, delete, or rename any of the files/folder that were related to the source media
for that project?
3. Please review the Adobe document on troubleshooting damaged projects.

I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing
Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder. -
I am a Windows Vista User. I updated my iTunes Version 10.3. Then, when I re-opened my iTunes, all files were gone! Good thing I consolidated the files and just imported the files again. But, this happens every time I close and open my iTunes. Help?
In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

I have an old version Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium. I uninstalled it from my old computer and was trying to install it on my new computer. It copied all the files but I cant open them and it doesn't ask me for my registration info, which I have. What shall I do to get Adobe up and running?
when you were install your cs3 you should have been prompted for you serial number. were you?
if not, you probably didn't properly install cs3. copying/migrating/moving etc is problematic.
if yes, did you see any error messages during installation?
if yes, attach a screenshot of the error message.
if not, check you install logs, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC -
I'm trying to mix a recording in the latest 2014 version of Garageband, but when I set all the tracks in the latest Garageband to the same volume levels and save, when I open the file again they've changed back to a previous setting? Does anyone know why it changes even after saving the file?

Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.

Your phone is in recovery mode. Did you plug it to the computer running itunes? What happend?

i cant download new application on my Iphone everytime i open app store then searching for the application i want to download when i Tap the FREE sign it become half square and never downloaded.
Sometimes this happens because the app won't run on the iOS version of the device you are trying to install it to. Go to the app store and make sure it will run on iOS 3.1.3 (many only run on iOS 4 or higher).

two things to try: either click the green "zoom" bottom at the topLeft of the window in the title bar, or go to your System Prefs and then Displays, and increase the resolution that is used

Just so we're on the same page you mean when you double click on the domain file that's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder, right?
if we're on the same page try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
launch iWeb and try again.
