Excel Add-in connections not refreshed

I am using Essbase 9.3.1.4. I have created a new planning application and set up the security / provisioning in shared services and syncronized to EAS. The security for the user works correctly in the planning application but when we try to connect via the Excel Add-in, the new planning application does not appear on list of available applications/database in the connection box. It does list existing planning applications available to the user, but not the new one. Does anyone know in v9.3.1.4 what file the Essbase add-in connection box is reading to present the available application/databases to the user for selection? For some reason it seems this file is either not being updated or it is ready an old version of the file. We have the same issue when using SmartView ad-hoc, any non-admin userid cannot access this new application. SmartView Planning does work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

TDMS Excel Add-in Does not support new Excel 2007 Row Limit

First off I would like to say the TDM/TMDS format is really useful. It allows you to do all kinds of things that would be a real pain if you tried to do it with tab delimited spreadsheets. You can format data into excel sheets for analysis with seperate tabs and channel names over the columns and the whole nine yards. You can even throw error messages into the properties that show up on the first tab.
The problem occurs when the user is working with really large files. Excel 2003 and all previous versions of Excel have limits of 65,536 rows by 256 columns. Until the latest version of the TDM Excel Add-in if you tried to import files larger than this it would throw an error and wouldn't create any file at all. Now it imports a file and you specify the index, which is so much better.
Excel 2007 supports 1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns! This is really useful. But the current version of the TDM Excel Add-In does not support the new row limit. Is there any way we can get a version of this for 2007 that supports the new row limits? It would be cool if the Add-in could auto-detect the version and change the import limits accordingly but that may be too much to ask. Has anyone else run into these problems?
My client would like to record hour long files at 200Hz all day long. Thats 720,000 rows of data per file. Yes, thats a lot but excel can handle it. The TDMS importer cannot. Of course there are work arounds and we will have to use one if a new version of the TDM Excel Add-in is not made soon. Is there a new version coming? Please say yes.

I redownloaded the file. I couldnt figure out how to completely uninstall the verison of the TDM importer already installed, so I just tried to install the one i downloaded. The installer said "no software will be installed or removed" and I had to click cancel because there was no next option.
I tried to import the data again with the importer and got the same 'selective import' dialog box again, limiting me to the 65,535 rows.
Here is what I am getting.
How do I uninstall the add-in so that I may reinstall it?

A little more information about the tdms file
The data is 14 columns of single precision float and is about 720k rows. There are four sections (sheets in the same excel document) with the data converted differently in each tab/section. The data is the same amount in each section as well. There are also a couple sections listing the constants and scalars used to convert the data, as well as the typical first page of tdms information about the data.

Studio Drill-Through Works in Excel Add-In but not Smart View

So I have a drill-through defined that works fine in the Excel Add-In. But, when I try to drill on the same intersection in Smart View, I get "No drill-through reports found at this location." I used the same member combinations for both, so I know the intersection is correct. Am I missing something simple?

There are some limitations on drill through:
These are two ports >>transport.port and server.httpPort.used to communicate with Essbase Spreadsheet Add-in and Hyperion Smart View.
In Hyperion Smart View, drill-through will not work properly. You must refresh the port number stored in the cube by following the instructions in "Updating Cube Linkage" See the Essbase Studio Online Help or Essbase Studio User's Guide.
Change the HTTP Port Number:
If you add an entry for the server.httpPort property in the server.properties file to change it from the default setting of 9080, the following is the state of drill-through connectivity on cubes built prior to the port adjustment.
Note: Cubes built after the port adjustment will work properly. In Smart View, drill-through will work properly.
PS:
With shared connections, Smart View always connects first with the EPM Workspace Web application to authenticate the user and then connects to each provider using the EPM SSO token. With private connections, SmartView authenticates with the provider

Essbase Excel Add-In - Connect doesn't pop up the sign in dialague box....

Hi,
Successfully installed the Excel Add-In 32bit client and configured the Add-In. When we goto sign into our application and select Essbase->Connect, nothing happens. No sign in box or anything pops up.... Any ideas?

Excel Pivot (molap) will not refresh from an SSAS box that is not part of the Farm

I have spent hours trying to get this working going through many links. One of the best ones is this.

excel is working with this and refreshed just fine. I can ceate and excel report and save it to sharepoint but when I open it I get the famous error.

The first article is checking to make sure power pivot is installed and local ssas is running. This could not be an issue since like I mentioned I can create a Excel report to the local farm version of ssas and it opens and refreshed fine. That
would mean that power pivot is installed and the services are running right:)?
The second article I have done over and over and I am pretty sure this works. Again I can export to excel and it works just fine meaning my Data source is valid right? yes I have chosen "none" as well.
The third article talks about the different viewers. Mine is using
xlviewer.aspx so I would assume this is not the issue.

Wsdl connection not refreshed in QA and Prod

We have developed a offline
interactive adobe from based on a WSDL Data connection.
The form works fine in development. We moved the form to QA system. But
in the XML source code in the form which is based on the WSDL still
contains the Development host.
Although dynamically Hostname and Port are captured in the
Java script and made a soap connect , it still also use the Values in
the WSDL to connect to development system webservice.

The WSDL is getting refreshed in the QA system only if create a New
data connection based on the WSDL downloaded from QA system.
We cannot do this in our QA system or Production system as the System
settings will not allow for modifications.

I do not want to remove office 2010 and go back to office 2007.

Not able to install Essabse Excel Add in

I've installed and configured the Hyperion 11.1.2.1 on my Server Window 208 Rs 64 bit server. The Essbase Excel add in was not installed. So am trying to install ti manually. But am not able to do that. Am getting an error saying that the path that is given is not correct. Please help me out of this

You say that you are not able to install the add-in and you get an issue in installing the Excel Add-in. Do you get the error mentioned when you try to install it?
Once the Excel add-in is installed you need to register it. Hence Register the Spreadsheet Add-in.
If you are getting error while opening Excel try the following --
1. Close Excel
2. Unregister Spreadsheet Add-in, select Start, then Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Essbase, then Essbase Client, and then Unregister Spreadsheet Add-in.
3. Register Spreadsheet Add-in, select Start, then Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Essbase, then Essbase Client, and then Register Spreadsheet Add-in.
4. Launch Excel and then check.

Essbase connection w.r.t Smartview and Excel add-in

donno if this is the right place for this thread, I thought planning experts are experienced with both smartview and excel add-ins
what is the protocol used behind the scene in both ways (HTTP, RMI, TCO/IP) and which one takes less resources and works faster
to serve better interms of performance while connected to essbase? that I know we add URL for conneceting to essbase thru aps for a
smartview essbase connection and we directly connect to essbase in essbase excel add-in connection.
any help is much appreciated!

I think Essbase Excel add-in connects through TCP/IP whereas Smartview connects via web services (http).
Excel add-in should be faster as it speaks directly with Essbase as opposed to Smartview which connects Essbase through another service (APS). But Smartview comes with its own advantages (i.e. better integration, smoother user experience etc.)

Excel Add-In and Macros

Hi Guys,
I am using the Excel Add-in to build some reports from PAS. I have followed the help even to the point of cutting and pasting the code in the samples.
By default my Excel Add-In connects to my use database in read mode even though both my model connection user and the database are defined as having exclusive as their default. This mean I can't save a view. When I run an Excel macro to save a view there I see the existing views and there is no error. However the view does not save.
The help file recommends I issue a Model command to allow me to save my view to the SMReport database. I cut the code from the help file but as soon as I issue the command I get an error "Checkpoint Freeze in Effect; Can not detach".
If I go into PAS I see that my user is already attached to SMReport in share mode. This would seem to make the Model command superfluous.
This seems so basic, but I've spent over a day on it. Surely I can't be the first person to use the VBA in the Excel Add-In? Can someone help please?

Tables in popups not refreshing

I'm having difficulty with some table refreshes within a popup. Here's my scenario. I have a window that displays a table. The user clicks edit, and the table is shown in an “edit” popup. At this point, if the user makes changes, clicks ok, then the table on the beginning page is refreshed correctly. To do this, I am using the following method to refresh the page fragement, AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(this.getViewTablex());
Here is the issue,
The user chooses to edit the main table, and the edit popup appears. So far so good. The user then wants to add a new record, they click “Add” within the edit popup so I then show a new popup form where the user enters the fields for the new row. When they click ok on the "add" popup form, then the edit popup (from which they called the add popup) does not refresh the table with the newly added row. The row they added then appears as the first row in the edit popup.
What further complicates this is that I have to validate the "edit" popup rows when they click ok, to make sure all the data is valid, so I can not do a commit on the underlying table until after the validation. But, I need the newly added row in the table (or view) in the edit popup as part of my validation.
So, I have a table that makes use of an edit table popup that in turn makes use of an add form popup. But I cannot commit until I validate the edit popup. The problem is I’m not getting the newly added row that was created in the “add” popup to show up in my edit popup.

Seems like a PPR issue. Try have a partialTrigger corresponding to the OK button of add popup on the table in the edit popup.

Essbase Excel Add-in for Excel 2013

I recently upgrade from Excel 2010 to 2013, it seems Essbase Excel Add-in (1.1.2.2) has some issue with Excel 2013, does anybody experience this too, any advice on this?

The excel add-in is not certified to work with Excel 2013 and a matter of fact, the only version of Smart View certified with it is 11.1.2..5 which just came out. The Essbase Add-in has not been updated in a shile and has been susetted by Oracle so there will be no new versions of it

Excel add-in Terminal Service, not connection is made

I have a problem with Excel add-in on Terminal Service. Theinstallation went all right and the add-in is found by Excel. Theproblem is when I try to connect to one of the essbase serversnothing happens. When I check the server no login attempt has beenmade, the funny thing is that when I enter a server name that doesnot exist I get an error message telling me that the servercouldn’t be found (so clearly the add-in is doing something).The versions that I’m using for the add-in is 7.1.5 andI’m trying to connect to a servers with the essbase versions7.1.5 and 7.1.2. I have installed this add-in on several desktopsand then it’s working as expected. Is this a known problem? Have anyone had this problem before? This sounds liek an issue we have seen a number of times. When you first connect you will need write access to the essbase\ folder on the machine where Essbase add-in is installed. It writes the connection information provided to essbase.ini and this is then used the next time you log in. You should be able to narrow the write area down further, can't remember exactly where the write is required - there are other areas as well from memory. From your description, I know when you open excel document and it pops up some error message regarding refresh data for a data connection in a library within SharePoint Foundation 2010.
For Excel workbooks that contain PowerPivot data, Excel Services returns this error if it submits a connection request to a PowerPivot server and the request fails. Excel Services cannot connect to or load the PowerPivot data. You could refer to this article:

If above all don’t work, please check if there are more related error messages (which recorded around the time of error occurring when you open Excel file) from ULS log for help troubleshoot the issue.

Error 109 : MaxL api instance is not Active after installing excel add-in

Hello Gurus
I am getting error Error 109 : MaxL api instance is not Active while expanding essbase server in EAS console.
I am using EPM 11.1.2.1 on Windows server 2008 x64 with MS Office 2007 x32
EAS was working properly before installing Excel Add-in,
What i did is
1. I first installed excel add-in and when I clicked on connect Log-in screen didn't appears.
2. Then I reinstalled excel add-in and it started working properly and EAS was also working fine.
3. But after restarting VM, EAS is not working, it is giving error like "Error 109 : MaxL api instance is not Active"
4. I also searched on OTN for EAS issue and checked following environment variables
ESSBASEPATH : C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin
ESSLANG : English_UnitedStates.Latin1@Binary
5. And also tried reinstalling EAS
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hello,
I had the same problem, after add-in 's installation on epm 11.121
Without solution, I was forced to uninstall all epm and reintsall.
Is there another method to solve this problem ?
