"Excel found unreadable content in xlsm excel 2010 do you want to recover"

I have upgraded the Excel 2003 .xls (which has macro) file to Excel 2010 by save as .xlsm. But when i try to open with this in MS Excel 2010. Its showing
"Excel
found unreadable content in 'test.xlsm'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook,"
Please suggest the solution.

>>I have upgraded the Excel 2003 .xls (which has macro) file to Excel 2010 by save as .xlsm<<
Did you mean you open Excel 2003 file with Excel 2010 Appcliation and save it to .xlsm file?
I found a similar issue with you in thread below, there is a fix:
Install the Visual Basic component in Office 2010. We haven't had the error since!
Control Panel > Programs > select Microsoft Office 2010 and click on Change > Add or Remove Programs > at the bottom of the list click on the plus next to Office Shared Features > select Visual Basic for Applications > I right clicked
and chose Run from My computer > Continue. Reboot when it has finished
You can find more information from threads below:

    Hi,
    I have such problem when I open in Excel 2010 14.0.7128.5000 (32 bit) a xlsx-file containing pivot tables and slicers connected to SSAS 2008 R2 cube:

    Hi,
    The whole error message like this:
    "Excel found unreadable content in '<<var>File name></var>.xls'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook?
    If you click Yes in the error message, the file cannot be opened as expected."
    Please try the following methods and check they are helpful:
    1. Install the hotfix for Excel 2010.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2544025/en-us
    2. Installing the 'Visual Basic' component of MS Office 2010
    'Navigate to 'Control Panel >> Programs' -> select Microsoft Office 2010, and then click 'Change >> Add or Remove Programs' -> at the bottom of this list, click the 'plus' sign provided next to Office Shared Features -> click Visual
    Basic for Applications -> After that, right-click and choose Run from My Computer ->  click Continue'.
    3. Run as administrator
    4. Go the file in Windows Explorer, right-click on the file, select Properties and at the bottom there's an area called Security, click on Unblock.

  • Excel 2013: Lost VBA Code From Excel 2010

    Just upgraded from Office 2010 to Office 2013.
    Tried to open several of my Excel spreadsheets created in 2010 with Excel 2013. I have spreadsheets that have VBA to perform several functions and routines.
    None of the .xlsm spreadsheets from 2010 work in 2013. I get the following messages:
    "The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros in this workbook are corrupted and have been deleted. The macro corruption most likely exists in the current file. To recover the macros, open a backup copy of this file if you have one."
    OR ...
    "We found a problem with some content in '*******.xlsm'. Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."
    Clicking Yes does not help. It removes or tries to fix the issue. Under the developer tab, the "Visual Basic" and "Macros" button is disabled.
    I tried 3 of my different workbooks. They all get the same error. I went back to an Office 2010 installation and all the workbooks open file - without error, and the code executes.
    Advice?

    I'm getting the same problem, but with Excel 2010.
    I've created a workbook with macros in Excel 2010 and couldn't run it in two computers with office 2010. The same problem as above occurs:
    "The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros in this workbook are corrupted and have been deleted. The macro corruption
    most likely exists in the current file. To recover the macros, open a backup copy of this file if you have one."
    This problem happened with other 2 workbooks with macro. It's curious too that another workbook with macro created by
    me is working on these two computers without errors. And, of course, all of the workbooks mentioned works well in the other computers. This problem started when I downgrade the office os this two computers from 2013 to 2010.
    None of the solutions proposed above has worked.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to read the contents of an Excel cell in DIAdem and assign its value to a variable in a VBS script.

    Hi All,
    Initially I thought this little problem would be relatively straight forward but now I’m not so sure. I am familiar with the mechanism by which DIAdem communicates with Excel and how to change the contents of a cell via a VBS script. In my task the contents of the cell in the first row, first column of MyProblem.xls contains the text “DIAdem”. I would like to be able to read this value and assign it to the variable MyString. I originally thought of doing something simple like this:
    Dim MyString
    Dim Excel, ExcelSheet
    Set Excel = CreateObject(“Excel.Application”)
    Excel.Workbooks.Open(“C\MyProblem.xls”)
    Set ExcelSheet = Excel.Workbooks(“MyProblem.xls”).Sheets(“Sheet1”)
    MyString = ExcelSheet.Cells(1,1)
    At this point I would have hoped that MyString would have been set equal to “DIAdem” and I could have used MyString to change the name of a channel in the data portal if I desired using the following code:
    Data.Root.ChannelGroups(1).Channels(1).Name = MyString
    Doesn’t seem to work though. I’m guessing it is because MyString has not picked up the value of the contents of the cell? Can anybody propose a solution to my problem or indeed confirm whether what I am proposing to do is technically feasible.
    Thanks in advance for any responses.
    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,
    Just staring at your ActiveX code, it looks fine to me.  My first thought is that this should work as you outlined it, and I've done this sort of thing many times, so I know it can work.  My second thought though, is that what you probably really want is a DataPlugin and not a VBScript.  Then you could just drag&drop the Excel file into the Data Portal and load all the properties and channels you want from the Excel file.  If you have DIAdem 2010 or later you can use the SpreadSheet reader object in the DataPlugin to avoid the Excel ActiveX functions (and Excel's jealously with other applications trying to read a file it has open already).
    Feel free to send me a few sample Excel files and describe what you want to load from the various cells, and I'd be happy to help you get a DataPlugin written to load your data.  You can also email me at [email protected]

  • New option to open custom Excel content type in Excel Web Access

    Hi,
    This question is specifically for Sharepoint Online if that affects the possible solution.
    I would like a custom content type with Excel template to open up in Excel Web Access when a library's New>"My Content Type" option is chosen.  I have configured the content type (deriving from "Document"), pointed it to the spreadsheet
    template I've uploaded, added the content type to the library and set the library to "Open documents in the browser".
    However when I choose the new option for the content type it always opens it in the Excel desktop client.  If I then save the document to the library, then it does view and edit in Excel Web App after that.
    Is there any way for the initial "New" Excel document to start editing in Excel Web App?
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Make sure Office 2011 is fully updated. It shouldn't have a problem opening those documents.
    When I open a 97 - 2004 workbook, it states that it needs to be converted. That may be what is crashing on your copy of Office.
    Have you tried creating a new account and see if you can open them there.

  • Download "Content-Disposition" to Excel

    I have a user who was having trouble getting an Excel file to download properly. When she clicked on the web link created by my procedure, her Excel file would download all the columns into one field. For myself, and most other users, it downloads normally with all the columns and fields where they should be. She was also missing the prompt asking if you wanted to open or save the file. It was just downloading to Excel right away.
    Now, the user said she did not have this problem with all her Excel downloads, just this one. So I looked at the program that had the Excel download that worked for her and compared it to the one that didn't.
    And there was a difference.
    The download that did NOT work for her had this line of code: htp.print('Content-Disposition: inline; filename='||v_file_name1);
    The download that DID work for her had this code: htp.print('Content-Disposition:attachment; filename='||v_file_name1);
    In the program that wasn't working for her I replaced the part of Content-Disposition with "attachment" instead of "inline". That seemed to do it. Nothing more needs to be done, but I dont' really know why it worked. I can't seem to find a definintion of what an "inline" Content-Disposition means vs. "attachment". Anyone know? Thanks!
    Oh, and here's the surrounding owa_util code in case that helps make it more clear where it was coming from:
    owa_util.MIME_HEADER('text/comma-delimited', FALSE);
    htp.print('Content-Disposition:attachment; filename='||v_file_name1);
    owa_util.HTTP_HEADER_CLOSE;

  • Ibot delivery content - not available Excel

    Hi everyone,
    We are trying to find a way to provide our customer a way of downloading a whole dashboard page in Excel Format.
    We've looked for solutions throught the forum and have found out that is not possible throught "Printer friendly" located at the bottom of the page, as it only provides HTML or PDF format. We've tried also to save it as .mht file and open it in Excel, but the graphics dont appear and the layout of the tables is a bit messed up.
    Thus, we are trying to do it through an iBot, but again, we cant find a way to deliver the dashboard page in excel format (the options provideda are again HTML or PDF). However, single reports can be sent as an excel attachment.
    So, we are wondering if there is really a way to download a whole dashboard page in excel format (the version we are using is Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.3.2), because we need to give a "serious" answer about this to our customer.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards

    Hi,
    there is no out-of-the-box functionality to download a dashboard to excel, also not by using an iBot.
    If you really want this, than there is no other option to create a custom-made script.
    I have seen this solution once, for downloadin a dashboard to PowerPoint, but I don't know the details on how it was made.

  • BEX Analyzer 7.0 - Use the content of an excel cell as an input value

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to use the content of an excel cell as an input value for a bex variavel?
    Iu2019m using bex analyzer 7.0.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cátia Coelho Silva

    Hi Catia,
    Yes it is possible to import values from exel. But this will gives you "INCORRECT INPUT PARAMATERS"..
    So it is still best to use "Notepad" as your import file type.
    Just copy your input parameters on the notepad then upload it via 'import text file'.
    Please be sure to use Multiple selection type variable.

    Hi All,
    I created an excel using jsp by setting content type as excel, the size of the excel is coming nearly around 5MB. If copy the content of that 5MB excel content and paste it and created another excel directly. The size of the new excel is coming around 1 MB.
    It will be great if any body reply me as soon as possible.

    HBhagya wrote:
    I created an excel using jsp by setting content type as excelYou don't create an Excel file that way. You're just fooling the web browser that it is an Excel file so that it will try to use the associated application for that which on its turn is too forgiving that it accepts HTML.
    Look for a Java Excel API to create a real Excel file. Examples: Apache POI HSSF, JExcelAPI, OpenXML4J. Or just use the CSV file format, although you can write it yourself easily, there are API's out as well. Examples: CSV4J, JavaCSV, OpenCSV.

    No, it is not possible to import Excel files with either the xlsx or the the xlsm file extension.  This is simply a limitation of the Import/Export Wizard.  Sorry.  Hope this helps.
