  • 'exception thrown but not caught' error on the url iview

    Hi,
EP6, we have url iview that is working fine for displaying a web application. but the problem is some of the link on the web application throws 'exception thrown but not caught' error. it happens to some of the users though.

    Hi Mokone
    I agree with Raghvendranath statement.
This is not portal side problem.U just using URL of that application
    Also do this
Open the URLiView editor and check the Fetch Mode property value.
Launch the same URL in a new browser window (not in the portal).
Change the URLiView Fetch Mode property from Server-Side to Client-Side.
The iView is using the Server-side fetching mode but no proxy is defined for the portal
    Hope this info help you

  • Exceptions from nested includes not thrown to errorPage

In our application a central dispatcher servlet includes JSPs.

    Hi
I am having a stateless session bean(SLBean) which uses a singleton
class(Single1). Both the SLBean and the Single1 are in the same jar
file. Single1 contains a static method called getInstance() which
returns the instance of the Single1(if not already existing).
The probelm is that when I try to do the "Single1.getInstance()" from
the stateless bean, then some exception( java.rmi.RemoteException:
EJBException: ;nested Exception is: Java.lang.NullPointerException) is
thrown.and getInstance() method of Single1 class in never invoked.
What might be the problem? why am I not able to call my singleton
    class from the staless bean.
    Thanks in advance.

    Patrick,
Thanks my session verify function was causing the problem and I have removed it temporarily from my authentication scheme.
I am using the "check_timeout" function that was developed a number of years ago as part of a "How To" section in the old HTMLdb days. I knew there was an issue with this routine as the newer versions of the browsers handle cookies differently and I was going to redevelop it at some point. Do you know which part of the function causes the issue?
    Many Thanks,

  • NO EXCEPTION IS THROWN FROM THE PERSIST

We are using Glassfish and MySQL. When we do a persist with a bad object/query, internal DB errors are NOT being reported back to the caller in any way, but Glassfish knows that the error occurred. Here is a schematic of the situation:
Glassfish starts a CMP transaction and calls our bean
Inside the bean we have code like this:
obj = (a new object that will cause a DB error when persisted)
                   try {
                        entityManager.persist(obj)
                   } catch (Throwable t) {
report to the user that the throwable happened
              bean returns
         Glassfish manages CMP transaction
What we see is the following:
         - The persist has an internal failure and generates error messages in the Glassfish system.log file.
         - NO EXCEPTION IS THROWN FROM THE PERSIST, so the application code thinks that the persist completed correctly
         - At the end of the bean operation, Glassfish (correctly) rolls back the transaction.
At the user level the result is that the request succeeds but nothing is put into the Database!
We are not asking about the cause of the DB error. From reading the system log we know what happened and can fix it. Our problem is that problems in our field-deployed systems cannot be detected by the application code so failures cannot be reported to the user.
    The critical question is:
Is there a way for the application code in the bean to see that an error occurred?
By the way, we also have a secondary question: Why is the erroneous persist tried 6 times before deciding it won't work? Is there an option somewhere that says to try 6 times?
The Exception as reported in the system log (only one copy of it) is included below.

This is because the persistent context is not synchronized with the database until the commit is being executed.
You might 'force' this by calling entityManager.flush() right after the call to persist(...).
Or you register a transaction synchronizer and check the transaction status on afeterCompletion().

  • Web Service: Response has null value and no exception is thrown

    Hi
I have generated a Web Service Proxy in JDeveloper 11gR1 against a web service.
My problem is that if I try to invoke the web service programmatically the only property on the response object has the null value. I can inspect the response in the Http Analyzer and it seems to understand and display content of the response properly.
I have debugged the service proxy and discovered that the set-method on the property is never called. No exceptions are thrown, so it is very hard to see where to start solving this issue!
    Any ideas?

When a webservice provides a response that is not valid according to its wsdl, a webservice proxy in 10g will give useful error messages such as "Missing element 'xxx'."
In 11g the web service proxy simply sets non-valid values to null, quietly accepting the invalid response. Is this the intended behavior?
Is it possible to enter a debug mode, where the webservice response is validated against the wsdl as in 10g?
I appreciate any help on this question.
    Thanks!

  • Exception is thrown but exception.getMessage() is null

    Hi,
I am wirting a code in which an exception is thrown, I catch this exception in the catch block, but when I display e.getMessage() it displays null.....Can any body help in telling why....
    Thanks
    Rajnish Verma

getMessage() is just about useless. If you use the no-arg constructor for a Throwable, you'll get a null message. Much, much better for displaying information about Throwables is toString() which will include the class name of the Throwable and the message if it's not null. Out shop never uses getMessage()

  • Exception is thrown only while executing the jar file

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/mail/Address Exception is thrown only while executing the jar file. But the program compiles and executes good when executed for command prompt through the class files.
I used javamail API in my program. Classpath and every others are set to the right one's. Executed fine when used java Random.class. But the problem is only with the jar file.
Please help me out in this regard. Why the exception is thrown only in jar but not at class level.

Assuming you're running your program using "java -jar", your jar file needs a Class-Path entry
in the manifest file that references mail.jar.

    Hi,
I seems like you don't have any active transaction. Try start or get transaction before execute your required operations.
After it, commit (or rollback, if something wrong happens) the transaction.
    Hope it helps.

  • No exception is thrown when my server socket dies

I have a server application running on sunOS 5.7.
To this I have both Windows and SunOS clients connected via TCP/IP. (Server built with jdk 1.2.2 and client with 1.3.0)
If the Server socket dies an exception is thrown in the windows clients but not in the sunOS client.
I need the exception to be thrown in the sunOS as well.
Is there anybody who knows how to get this done?
    Thanks in advance.
    /Henrik

You could poll the connection to see if its there.
If you want the client to register the event then have your client create a sort of listener of your own when it connects. By 'sort of listener' I mean extend the thread class and have it check the connection is not null every n seconds. If it is null then raise the exception yourself.
    Would this do it?
    Rob.
