Reinstallation of SCSM Portal 2012 -Self Servcie Portal

Hi Team,
I had to re-install SCSM 2012 Portal – Self Service Portal. I Uninstalled it by following the blog -
http://schadda.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-uninstall-scsm-web-portal-from.html
I also deleted the websites and application pools, manually from IIS 7.0 . After all these, when I tried to install the Self Service Portal, The installation failed.
Installation O/P:
Web content server is configured and can be accessed
Service Manager Portal is not configured
Sharepoint_SMPortal Content is not there in the Database.
In RegeditàHKLM\Software\Microsoft\System Center\2010\Service Manager\setup . Whenever I reinstall , Portal__ Values keep changing but SharePoint___
values  are not changed.
What are Regedit keys/values updated by SCSM 2012?
I also tried with different
SharePoint Foundation – Stand-alone and Farm configurations.
Ports
Certificates with and without SSL
Different Admin accounts,
But I still get the same error.
When I checked logs I found 4 typical errors, repeating.
          1. “Drives are at

  • What to see and what not to see in SCSM Portal

    Hello every body
    I wonder about below:
In my SCSM Portal (based on SCSM 2012 R2) I have many Service Requests and Incident Requests, some of the Services request should not be seen for all users /departments.
so my doubt, is where and how to configure this privilege?

    Hi,
To configure which service offerings and request show on the web portal you need to create a catalog group containing all the Service Offerings and Requests that you want a specific group to see. After you have the catalog group you need to create a User
Role to assign the users and groups that you want to see the set of Service Offerings and Requests in the catalog group.
More details, please refer to the link below:

  • SCSM 2012 - Self Service Portal installation Error

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to update SCSM 2010 with 2012. So far I have successfully installed Database Server and Warehouse server, and now I am trying to install the self service portal but it is giving me an error saying "Setup has failed because of an unexpected
error. Please review C:\..\SCSMSertupWizard01.log for more details.
Here are some extra information in relation to this upgrade.
I have got 3 separate servers for my SCSM 2010 application. One act as a warehouse database server. second server holds the Service Manger Database and the third one has got Self-service portal on it.
Now as I said earlier, I did not face any issue upgrading the first two servers (warehouse and Database) but the last one is proving very difficult to just even start with.
Here is some interesting thing that is happening while I am trying to install my self service portal.
When I run the SCSM 2012 setup on my web portal server (Server 3) I get a setup screen with following option
and as I said earlier when I click this Upgrade option it starts the "requirements check" and fails just there with an error message.
Now here is the interesting thing, when I run the SCSM 2012 setup on my server 2 ( which has now got Database Server 2012 installed in it) gives me following option screen.
So when I select this option it starts to install Web content server and Sharepoint site server on my Database server. I do not want that. I want to have my web content server on Server 3 which already has  SSP 2010 on it. I have also installed Sharepoint
    2010 on my third server.
    What is the solution here?
Do I have to merge my Database and Web content server? is it some sort of untold requirement of SCSM 2012 upgrade?
    Please help me here.
    Svapnil

    Hi there,
    thanks for the reply..
here is the screenshots of the log files.
Sorry all my 3 servers are on DMZ environment so it is bit hard for me to move files from virtual to live servers (Do not have enough permission level to do so!!)

  • Reinstallation of NW portal without deleting DB

What are the rules related to reinstalling an instance of portal without deleting the Oracle DB. I have installed NW Portal 7.0 but decided to reinstall it. The SID is still the same. Are there issue with simply reinstalled the SAP instance (SAP application) and leaving the DB. This is all on one server.
    Thanks
    Mikie

    Hai,
Since you are going to keep the SID the same there are no issues in re-installing.
    Go ahead, Good luck.

  • Where can i find and download Siebel 8.1.1 self-servcie Software ?

i found the download software of siebel in edelivery ,but i can't find the siebel 8.1.1 self-service. pls tell me where i can download 8.1.1 version?
    Thanks.

Uhh, I doubt you'll ever be able to download an Oracle product from Microsoft.
If you need 8.1.5 client bits (the 8.1.5 client has been desupported), you probably need to contact Metalink. They may have an archival FTP site they can point you at.
If you're trying to connect to an 8.1.5 server from an 8.1.7 or higher client, the OLE DB provider that's installed on the client should have no problems.

there is no honda without racing

    Hi Pavel,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you set up Service Manager 2012 SP1 running on SharePoint 2013.
Please check whether you have configured SCSM and SharePoint 2013 correctly. You can check as the following link:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/thomase/archive/2013/08/19/how-to-get-service-manager-2012-self-service-portal-running-on-sharepoint-2013.aspx
Please make sure you used the same account to instal SharePoint and Service manager.
If this issue still exists, please do as the followings:
Open Central Administration\Monitoring\Review job defintions, select the servers in the farm one-by-one , then click Application Server Administration Service Timer Job, click Disable.
Restart "Sharepoint 2010 Timer " in services.msc on all servers in the farm.
Try to install the SCSM portal.
Click Central Administration\Monitoring\Review job defintions\Application Server Administration Service Timer Job, click Enable.
Restart "Sharepoint 2010 Timer " in services.msc on all servers in the farm

  • SCSM 2012 Portal silverlight to work on non dom

Non domain computers – the sharpoint parts load (the silverlight does not
load). Domain computers can access the portal with no problem. I have also installed SCSM Portal certificate on non-domain machine added site in trusted site but no luck so far
    Hiren Tataria

This is usually because the WebContentServer (IIS site that loads the silverlight content) is not set to use the FQDN but rather just the hostname. Domain joined machines query DNS and will receive a reply with an address just based on the hostname. Non-joined
machines do not query any DNS when just a hostname is presented, therefore no address is returned. With that said, the SharePoint parts likely load because you either have a host file or are typing in the full URL in the browser which is hitting either public
DNS or a proxy. You will need to add an entry for the web content server the same way that you did for the SharePoint site
    and perform the following.
    1. In IIS Manager, where the Service Manager Portal site is deployed, click on the Service Manager Portal site and select "Application Settings".
    2. Make sure the SMPortal_WebContentServer_URL includes the FQDN of the web content server (can be the same server as SP or not).
    3. Navigate to C:\inetpub\wwroot\System Center Service Manager Portal\ContentHost on the server that the WebContentServer site is deployed in IIS and open the web.config file.
NOTE: ALWAYS make a copy of the web config before you edit it! This will allow you to rollback if necessary.
    4. Near the bottom of the file, check the key "ContentHostAbsoluteUri" and ensure the FQDN is being used there as well.
    5. Once these changes are made, reset IIS.
    6. You may need to add both URLs (portal and web content server) to your trusted sites on the non-domain joined machine.
    Hopefully that helps. :)

  • SCSM 2012 - Portal - Is it possible to exclude Closed Requests and Incidents from the My Requests view

Some users have complained that they see to many in the My requests view and there isn't a requirement to see closed requests.
Ideally I would like them to be Listed by Status as default rather than Type and then be able to order the status as I wish - i.e. I want active alerts first, In Progress next, then resolved and lastly closed.

As far as I know this is not possible with the built-in SCSM portal. Neither the Silverlight webpart can be modified nor are there any settings to configure the webpart for requirements like you described.

  • 3rd Party End User Portal Offerings

Just wondering if anyone is aware of any 3rd party end user portal offerings.
The out of the box one does not provide the look & feel we are after (too "industrial" & IT-like) for our clients, so I was interested in any 3rd party off the shelf offerings that may available. We are a small, non-Sharepoint IT environment,
so customising the out-of-box version would not be the preferred option. We would be greatly interested in a more "client friendly" offering as delivered by many of the other service management tool vendors. We would also prefer to have a non-Sharepoint
    version if one exists.
Another key feature that we would be after is for the incident/service logging to be integrated with the knowledgebase so suggestions are presented as the client enters the title of their issue. I've seen this in the client portal offering of a number of
other service management products and it is a great feature. Effectively can provide an answer to the client without them having to log a ticket.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The master pages of the SharePoint are locked by Microsoft, so I kind of doubt anyone has any custom portals for you.
However you can obviously easilly change the colours, title and image logo etc via Site Actions \ Site Settings. I'm not a SharePoint expert but this is very little effort and any IT person can manage that. But if you say wanted to move the menu
to a top frame menu, you cant.
To remove that Need Help bit and replace it, refer to this easy to follow blog post by the SCSM engineering team:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2012/02/06/customizing-the-scsm-2012-self-service-portal-how-do-i-change-the-need-help-or-description-text.aspx
I think your entering Title functionality with Help Article suggestions would be a great future, same as here on the Technet forums, but I cannot see that anyone would have been able to create that functionality in SCSM with the portal. Maybe in future versions,
but I wouldnt hold my breath.
SCSM 2012 is not a quick out of the box product that you just install and off you go in a day, it takes a fair bit of configuring for the portal, ROs, SLAs etc. If you are a small IT counsultancy with small to medium businesses as your market, I might go
so far as to say this is not the product for you. But that is just my personal opinion.

  • Portal Accessibility

     a) Is it possible to publish the SCSM 2012 Sp1 UR2 Portal so that i can be opened from Internet ?
     b) Is it possible to open the SCSM portal site on Windows mobile devices ? (WP8)
    Shahid Roofi

    Hi Shahid,
    a) yep, this can be done, you deal with it as normal SharePoint site. the following link shows the required steps (it's using TMG as reverse proxy)
    http://andrewsprivatecloud.wordpress.com/2012/06/20/the-self-service-portal-for-scsm-2012-forefront-tmg/
    b) SSP requires Silverlight4 (only) & IE8 (or above)
http://technet.microsoft.com/library/jj628196.aspx, so you should be able to access the SM portal as long as these requirements are covered on that device (e.g. WP8)

  • Portal Web parts work fine on server but not Windows 7 Machines

    Hi
I was testing the Service Manager Portal on the server and couldn't get the web parts to load.
I followed the steps here in this blog:
    http://www.code4ward.net/main/Blog/tabid/70/EntryId/139/Service-Manager-2012-Self-Service-Portal-not-working-blank.aspx
Where I added FQDN to the URL.
The webparts appear now when the page is loaded directly on the server.
But from a client Windows 7 machines the Portal is still blank with all the web parts not loading?
    Any ideas?

The most common reason for the silverlight parts not loading is a certificate issue on the web content service.  you might also check

  • Portal Alternative

Someone know an alternative of SCSM portal ? We like Service Manager 2012 but the portal is very poor and the display with Sylverlight do not function correctly. The end users don't want use it.
I have read that the portal with SCSM2012 R2 don't support Sharepoint 2013 and is identical.
    I have found :
SCO end user : http://www.eupsco.com/  (free but not enough functions)
Syliance ITSM : http://www.syliance.com (very expensive)

    Hi Luc,
Something to note is that Eupsco portal is for Orchestrator to surface Runbooks only. This does not tie directly into Service Manager so you will not be able to take advantage of things like data in the CMDB.
Also there is another company called Gridpro. They have a portal called Webfront by Gridpro. This is for the analysts but keep an eye on them. You never know they might make a end user portal in the future. Here is a link to their site:

  • Runbook for decommission vm from service manager end portal

    Hi,
I have created runbook for provision vm in VMware and it is working fine from service manager self service portal...
Now my next requirement is end user should be able delete the vm which he provisioned from the portal....
So, I have created one simple work flow for delete VM and only vm name is the input parameter...
Now when create the request offering user should get the list of vms which he provisioned...How can I get the list of vms in request offering?
Thanks in advance for your help...
    Regards,
    Sudheesh M A

    Hi,
This blog post show you query based list
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/servicemanager/archive/2011/11/08/request-offering-wizard-overview.aspx and this
    http://www.buchatech.com/2013/11/service-manager-request-offering-multiselect-user-prompt/
First you need to make sure you have the machines in Service Manager CMDB. If it is domain joined servers they should be in the CMDB, from the Active Directory connector. Then you need to have a way to filter out which machines to show for a user. When a
end user browse to the SCSM portal you can access the username from the service offering by a varaible named Token Portal User Name. The Token: Portal User Name is in format CONTOSO\leni (DOMAIN\username)
You can use it to filter which servers to show, if you add DOMAIN\username on a attribut on each server. For example if you add the owner of the VM to each server, in format DOMAIN\username you can then configure the query based list to show list all servers
were the notes field or owners field is equal to Token Portal User Name.
Once you have all servers in the CMDB and servers has owner in correct format you can start thinking about new runbooks.
