I want to use an exception statement, something along the lines of
exception when no_data_found then

Powershell - SQL statement for WMI query
Need to input / update sql database, two main tables: server and diskDrive
The Primary key for server table is server_id which is also a foreign key in diskDrive table.
There is no primary key set in the diskDrive table.
I am able to insert all of the basic data in the server table no problem.
What I need help creating/understanding is how to account for the servers with multiple drives.
Here is my command for accounting for all drive information:
$diskDrive = gwmi -query "select * from Win32_Volume where DriveType='3' AND DriveLetter IS NOT NULL" | Select @{Name="Device";Expression={$_.DriveLetter}},`
@{Name="Capacity";Expression={[math]::round(($($_.Capacity)/1GB),2)}},`
@{Name="FreeSpace";Expression={[math]::round(($($_.FreeSpace)/1GB),2)}},`
@{Name="UsedSpace";Expression={[math]::round((($_.Capacity - $_.FreeSpace)/1GB),2)}},`
@{Name="PercentFree";Expression={[math]::round(($($_.FreeSpace)/$($_.Capacity)*100),2)}}
My thought is to create an exist statement to determine if I need to insert or update the Database:
$ServerExist = "Select server_id from server where server_name = '$ServerInfo.csname'"
if ($ServerExist) {
update statement
} else {
#Create SQL Insert Statement with your values
$insert_stmt = "INSERT INTO Server(server_name, domain_name, Manufacturer, Model, Memory)
VALUES ('$($Output.Name)','$($Output.Domain)','$($Output.Manufacturer)','$($Output.Model)','$($Output.TotalPhysicalMemory)')" -replace "\s+"," "
$cmd.CommandText = $insert_stmt
## Invoke the Insert statement
$cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
I have tested the insert statement and that works fine. However I have not implemented the $diskDrive aspect of the insert.
Although there will be a slight difference between the insert and update statement for the diskDrive table, still need to work out the iteration aspect for sql statement.
Items that will need to be inserted/updated per drive:
Server_id
DriverLetter
Capacity
FreeSpace
UsedSpace
PercentFree
Given my $diskDrive query, I think there needs to be While($diskDrive) statement that will iterate through the drive info and then insert/update until While is finished.
However I’m not sure how that is accomplished and hoping to get some help.
Please let me know if any other information is needed.
Thanks,
Jr. AdminHello jrv,
The problem is my limited experience in powershell and how to iterate through the $diskDrive variable and pull the specific drive information including the server_id and inserting or updating the diskDrive table accordingly.
I was able to figure out how to do the insert for one specific wmi entry but in regards to the disk drive, i'm not sure how to work the scripting to run through each drive, insert/update and continue until all drives have been accounted for.
Please let me know if you need any other information. I will consider posting later on SQL forum.
Thanks,
Jr. Admin -
Index out of Bounds Exception in for loop.
Occasionaly with the code below, i get an index out of bounds error, index 1, size 1, however the for loop should ensure that it never calls the getActorLocation method if the index is the same size as the arrayList size.
Im having one of those days, and i just cant see what error i have made.
Perhaps i need coffee? lol
Cheers

private void checkMemoryIntegrity(){

if (inRangeList.size() != 0){

if (!actorList.contains(actor)){
brainState.actorLocations.remove(i);
public ArrayList <Integer> getActorsInMemoryRange(Actor actor, int range){

compActor = brainState.getActorLocation(i);
int xDist = x - compActor.getX();

int yDist = y - compActor.getY();
if ( (yDist >= (-1) * range) && (yDist <= range) ){
inRangeList.add(i);
i++;
return inRangeList;
}I was thinking it might be easier to do it this way:
Iterator<Actor> i = actorLocations.iterator();
while(i.hasNext())
if (!actorList.contains(i.next())) {
i.remove();
}It sounds like you have an equals() method which compares the x and y locations of the actor. If not then you will have to enclose the remove in an if block which compares the actor location. Does that make sense?
Edit: contains uses the equals method.
Returns true if this list contains the specified element. More formally, returns true if and only if this list contains at least one element e such that

Currently my loop code is

END LOOP;
{code]
What I need to do is raise an exception if vt_record(5) is greater than sysdate.
If any line has a date greater than sysdate then the loop should fail and not carry on.

Can I change sql statement for some query runtime?
Hi All!
The problem that I have to implement report with query like this: select * from a where b in (?,?,?). The number of parameters depends on user choice. On the client side it will be a list of check boxes. Is there any way to implement such report? I can see just one way so far - to modify sql statement runtime.
Thanks!hello,
create a user-parameter myListe or myWhere (wee examples below) and change your query to
select ... from ... where b in (&<myList>)
or even better
select ... from ... &<myWhere>
now you can pass in the constructed list or where clause. you can also construct the values in the afterParameterform-Trigger

How do we use if statement in labview?moreover can i use if statement inside for loop?
how do we use if statement in labview?moreover can i use if statement inside for loop?
The if statement in LabVIEW is the Case structure. You can find that on the Structures palette right next to the For Loop. If you're still on the same subject about terminating a for loop early, then what you do is enclose your functions inside the loop with a case statment and make one of the case's empty except for one or more constants that you might have to wire. Hopefully, the attached picture will explain what I mean. Also, as I mentioned in one of your other posts, I think this technique is not as good as using a while loop. The array in the attached example is the same size no matter what and you may have to handle stripping extra or invalid elements.

If statement doesn't affect for loop
I wrote a function within a function to control 2 Tweens.
(the 2nd one isnt in the function, it's called)
My problem is... is that it works for the first time.. the button is hovered over and all the other buttons show themselves and then disappear again, except the one you're over. Then I do it a 2nd time and it doesn't work. why is it only working right one time? and why isn't the if statement I put in the local function affecting the for loop? The 2nd time it takes the button you're hovering over with it and fades it out. (even though the if statement registers according to trace)
this is the code
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
var shortInst:Array = [btn1, btn2, btn3, exit];
var objTween:Tween;
function mouseOff(e:Event):void {
if (e.currentTarget.alpha !== 0) {
objTween = new Tween(e.currentTarget, "alpha", None.easeOut, 1, 0, 0.25, true);
var eTimer:Timer = new Timer(3000, 1); //timer that only runs once (in ms)
function navFX(e:Event):void {
for (var i:Number = 0; i < shortInst.length; i++) {
objTween = new Tween(shortInst[i], "alpha", None.easeOut, 0, 1, 0.25, true);
eTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, local);
eTimer.start();

for (var i:Number = 0; i < shortInst.length; i++) {
if (shortInst[i] !== e.target) {
shortInst[i].dispatchEvent(new Event(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT));is this what you want?
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
var shortInst:Array = [btn1,btn2,btn3,exit];
var objTween:Tween;

if (e.currentTarget.alpha !== 0)
objTween = new Tween(e.currentTarget,"alpha",None.easeOut,1,0,0.25,true);

How to optimize the select query that is executed in a cursor for loop?
Hi Friends,
I have executed the code below and clocked the times for every line of the code using DBMS_PROFILER.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST
AS
p_file_id NUMBER := 151;
v_shipper_ind ah_item.shipper_ind%TYPE;
v_sales_reserve_ind ah_item.special_sales_reserve_ind%TYPE;
v_location_indicator ah_item.exe_location_ind%TYPE;
CURSOR activity_c
IS
SELECT *
FROM ah_activity_internal
WHERE status_id = 30
AND file_id = p_file_id;
BEGIN
DBMS_PROFILER.start_profiler ('TEST');
FOR rec IN activity_c
LOOP
SELECT DISTINCT shipper_ind, special_sales_reserve_ind, exe_location_ind
INTO v_shipper_ind, v_sales_reserve_ind, v_location_indicator
FROM ah_item --464000 rows in this table
WHERE item_id_edw IN (
SELECT item_id_edw
FROM ah_item_xref --700000 rows in this table
WHERE item_code_cust = rec.item_code_cust
AND facility_num IN (
SELECT facility_code
FROM ah_chain_div_facility --17 rows in this table
WHERE chain_id = ah_internal_data_pkg.get_chain_id (p_file_id)
AND div_id = (SELECT div_id
FROM ah_div --8 rows in this table
WHERE division = rec.division)));
END LOOP;
DBMS_PROFILER.stop_profiler;
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND
THEN
NULL;
WHEN TOO_MANY_ROWS
THEN
NULL;
END TEST;The SELECT query inside the cursor FOR LOOP took 773 seconds.
I have tried using BULK COLLECT instead of cursor for loop but it did not help.
When I took out the select query separately and executed with a sample value then it gave the results in a flash of second.
All the tables have primary key indexes.
Any ideas what can be done to make this code perform better?
Thanks,
Raj.As suggested I'd try merging the queries into a single SQL. You could also rewrite your IN clauses as JOINs and see if that helps, e.g.
SELECT DISTINCT ai.shipper_ind, ai.special_sales_reserve_ind, ai.exe_location_ind
INTO v_shipper_ind, v_sales_reserve_ind, v_location_indicator
FROM ah_item ai, ah_item_xref aix, ah_chain_div_facility acdf, ah_div ad
WHERE ai.item_id_edw = aix.item_id_edw
AND aix.item_code_cust = rec.item_code_cust
AND aix.facility_num = acdf.facility_code
AND acdf.chain_id = ah_internal_data_pkg.get_chain_id (p_file_id)
AND acdf.div_id = ad.div_id
AND ad.division = rec.division;ALSO: You are calling ah_internal_data_pkg.get_chain_id (p_file_id) every time. Why not do it outside the loop and just use a variable in the inner query? That will prevent context switching and improve speed.

I have the above proc inserting data based on parameters where in @InsertCase is used for case wise execution.
I have written the whole proc with exception handling using try catch block.
I have just added one insert statement here for 1 case now I need to add further insert cases
INSERT INTO TAB4
A,B,C
SELECT
A,BC
FROM XYZ
INSERT INTO TAB3
A,B,C
SELECT
A,BC
FROM XYZ
INSERT INTO TAB2
A,B,C
SELECT
A,BC
FROM XYZ
I will be using following to insert further insert statements
if @InsertCase =1
I just needed to know where will be my next insert statement should be fitting int his code so that i cover exception handling for all the code
MudassarHi Erland & Mudassar, I have attempted to recreate Mudassar's original problem..here is my TABLE script;
USE [MSDNTSQL]
GO
/****** Object: Table [dbo].[TAB1] Script Date: 2/5/2014 7:47:48 AM ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[TAB1](
[COL1] [nvarchar](1) NULL,
[COL2] [nvarchar](1) NULL,
[COL3] [nvarchar](1) NULL,
[START_MONTH] [int] NULL,
[END_MONTH] [int] NULL,
[START_YEAR] [int] NULL,
[END_YEAR] [int] NULL
) ON [PRIMARY]
GO
Then here is a CREATE script for the SPROC..;
USE [MSDNTSQL]
GO

Breaking a single query using for loop to improve performance
Hi,
This is a continuation of my previous post which I marked Answered and few things are were left from my side and I was advised to post a new thread...
[Will it be a good ply|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=880922&tstart=0]
will it be applicable to any query because I took this to simplify the thing to explain my case
which is actually........... pull the data from some tables using joins and insert into some other tables .....
I used few procedures for diff conditions one of them use plain' insert into select' and others use bulk collect technique.
I followed the simple strategy (for DML ) by Tom Kytes ..and Steven Feuerstein
Use single statement whenever it is possible..
if not use PL/SQL with bulk collect to avoid for loop.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks and Regards,
Hesh.A simple test can prove the case

Geting ORA 936 -while building dynamic query in for loop.
HI,
I hav written a SP and its compiled and giving me the results for the data I am quering but giving ORA936 - missing expressin and giving ORA 6512 at 2 lines. Please help me me out where I am going wrong.

Created above SP and its compiled. When I try to execute the SP with below code I am getting--
DECLARE
V_t LIST;
BEGIN
V_t:= LIST();
V_t.EXTEND(10);
V_t(1) := 10;
V_t(2) := 20;
Test(v_t,’25-APR-2012’,’30-APR-2012’,’Y’);
END;
The SP is building correct dynamic querry and its getting executed for id = 10 and 20, giving the correct results but though I defined only 2 ids while executing and written FOR lOOP upto ID.COUNT its building query for third time and that time its not getting id, so for the third time the last part of where clause is built like
SELECT.....
WHERE....
AND id = (its taking blank here)
GROUP BY ...;
and thus its giving me ORA 936 missing expression and ORA 06152 at line of RECORD TYPE declaration and line of OPEN rc for fullstr;
ERROR at line 1
ORA 00936 misssing expresiion
ORA 006152 at line 9
ORA 006512 at line 87
I hav put DBMS_OUTPUT statements @ every build of dynamic wuery and its correct. here I have not copid the code I hav typed hereso not wriiten DBMS_OUTPUT.
I tried lot of ways redefining Andstr := ‘’;
Whstr :=’’; after for endloop but its giving the same error. is this because I am using varray? If am providing 2 ids in anonymous block then how its building query for third blank ID value.
Please help me out here..
Thanks a lot..>

Then you should have posted the one that compiles and gives you results.
The code you posted will not compile without errors. Edit your original post and provide the corrected code.
When you do please add \ tags on the line before and after the code to preserve formatting. See the FAQ for details. -
