    You need the Oracle JDBC driver jar (ojdbc14.jar) which you can download from Oracle or somewhere I believe....I can't remember where I got it. Anyway, google for the Oracle JDBC driver and you should find it.
    You will probably need to read up on JDBC as I can't believe you even did that before you realised you needed a driver to connect. Good luck.

  • "UnknownHost" exception while connecting to mysql from web dynpro

    Hi
    I am trying to connect to Mysql 5.0 database from web dynpro application.I am using NWDS 7.1.
    I have followed this blog and created the datasource in NWA.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/8675
    I have written the following code in my web dynpro application.
    InitialContext ctx;
           try{
                ctx=new InitialContext();
                DataSource ds=(DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/dbconnect");
                Connection conn=ds.getConnection();
                wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("connected");
                Statement stmt=conn.createStatement();
                   String query="select Col from TestTable";
                   ResultSet res=stmt.executeQuery(query);
                   while(res.next())
                        String str1=res.getString(1);
                        wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(str1);
              }catch (Exception e) {
                   wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(e.getMessage());
                   // TODO: handle exception
    But I m getting the following error as "UnknownHost exception"
    I checked with the datasource created in NWA.Here in the Driver status it is showing the driver as unknown.
    I have added the following driver.
    mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar
    Any idea on how to solve this problem?
    Do I need to add the driver in my application also.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sumangala

    Hi,
    Have you created a datasource in Visualadmin?
    Was that tested and was it success full?
    If you havent done this this could be your issue
    make sure the following code is using the correct datasource
    DataSource ds=(DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/dbconnect");

  • Connecting to SAP from Web Dynpro

    Hi,
    I am new to web dynpro, but have downloaded the java sneak preview edition and worked through it a bit. I understand that we have to use JCo to connect to SAP from Java Web dynpro, . Is it true?
    What about web dynpro for ABAP? Can we use normal select statements to connect to SAP? How is it exactly done in that case?
    Thanks in advance

    Ok. I found out why it is happening.
    If I follow the section 3.1.2 and setup the site studio connection then everything is fine
    3.1.2 Creating a Content Server Connection
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/doc.1111/e13650/ssxa_creatingsites.htm#CIHJGHFC
    If I try to create a content server connection from file->new->content server connection then I get a null pointer exception.
    I am sure someone from Oracle will fix it soon. For now all is well with Site Studio.

    the schema element for this field is having different datatype than what you are receiving the data. Can you check logs and see on which column it is failing? If we know the exact xsd datatype used for the element and and value that is stored in table then we can correct the xsd accordingly. Are you using dynamic sql query or select options to get values from DB.

  • Help needed in Connecting to SAP From Eclipse

    Hi All,
    Currently, we have a requirement where we need to retrieve data from SAP System and need to upload the same in a Third Party Application (Java based system).
    We are able to create an account in Java Application using Eclipse IDE by hard coding the Account details. We are stuck up in establishing the SAP connection and retrieving the details and then creating the extracted account details in Java application from Eclipse.
    Any pointers on this will be of great help.
    Regards,
    Eureka

    Hi Eureka,
    Please refrain from creating cross-posts in parallel forums, moreover this question is JCo-related and is not directly connected with Java EE 5. The Help needed in Connecting to SAP From Eclipse in the Java Programming forum would be enough. Please continue the discussion there.

  • How to connect to SAP AS JAVA?

    Hi,
    I am developing an JAVA application, which will connect to SAP AS Java dataSource. My environment don't have ABAP installed. So, I believe use of JCo connector is not an option.
    Is ther any other connector API jar available to connect to SAP AS JAVA Datasource?
    Could anyone please help me with a detail guide to connect to SAP AS Java Datasource using any APIs provided by SAP?
    Thanks
    Alingan

    Hi Aligan,
    Thant's correct, you have to develop a service on your EP and then you can change the UME persistence (user creation etc).
    Now you can write a J2EE app which will call your service to cater your requirement.
    Please go through the below links which will help you to achieve the same

  • Connecting to SAP from VB. Is it MUST to have SAP installed in the machine?

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to connect to SAP from VB. I did it by creating an RFC and a Bapi for that. Now, I could execute the SAP function from VB based application. I have no issues so far.
    But, when I try to execute the same from the system which doesn't have SAP installed in it, it couldn't execute. Is it MUST to have SAP installed in the machine to execute the SAP function from VB..? or is there any otherway to avoid this problem. Is there any way to execute the SAP function from VB from the machine which doesn't have SAP installed in it.
    Please give me your valuable inputs. Thanks in advance,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pradeep.

    Hi,
    No need of SAP environment to execute, but you should provide all the necessary parameters in your application in order to execute the RFC function module like: target host, m/c no, and etc of the SAP server.
    best regards

  • What User authorization objects needed for connecting to SAP from xMII?

    We eneter a SAP user and password for connecting to SAP from xMII to retrieve the metadata of the incoming IDocs.
    When I specify a user with SAP_ALL user profiles, the IDocs are received properly in xMII. If I specify a user with privileges to run only certain transactions, IDocs are not received in xMII.
    What user authorization objects are needed for this user to connect to SAP from xMII?
    Thanks,

    Sam,
    I turned on the SAP System trace for this user and figured out the following auth. objects are required for receiving IDocs in xMII:
    C_TCLA_BKA
    S_RFC
    S_CTS_ADMI
    B_ALE_MAST
    S_IDOCDEFT
    The following auth. object is required for making JCO call to SAP from xMII:
