Exchange 2013 Daily Health Check Script

Hi All,
I recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. Prior to the migration the daily health check was being used daily to send my team and I the HTML report.
I have downloaded the new v1.07 script and followed the same rules and settings I used for Exchange 2010 when setting up the script.
The script only runs now via Exchange shell and does not send the HTML report and I am unable to run the script via a batch file that called the ./ps1 file in a windows command prompt and am also unable to as a result, use the task scheduler to schedule
this task.
I am desperately in need of getting this morning report as its been so useful, I cant do without it now.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much
Alton

So, could you please check this link, it provide the solution to check the daily health of exchange 2013 :

  • Powershell - Daily Health Check

    Hi all,
I have a number of different w8k and w12k servers in different sites and I wanted create a daily health check to check services are up. For instance I can write a ps script to check run at 6am daily and check various services on a windows server and then
generate a html report and mail it to a distribution list. However on some of my servers I only have one service that needs to be checked I wanted a was to check the services and collate all the reports into one place and output just one html report?
So for example could I output the results to a text file, run an ftp job to send the result to a central location and then run a ps to scrap all the results and output to html, or could the text files be scrapped from an email, this method makes better sense
for me as some of these servers will have ACLs between then and getting send via smtp will be easier then ftp.
Would like to know if anyone has any ideas or experience with doing something like this?

Are the servers on the same domain? If so use "Enter-PSSession" or if your just checking if a service is running use the "-Computer" switch to execute it on the remote server.
You could also use WMI "Get-WMIObject"
Using the above methods will let you run it from a central location.
My suggestion for performing your health checks is to define in a csv file: Server Name, IP, Heath Check Level
So have an initial Ping for the host name, if that fails then use the IP as DNS might have an issue (record results into file)
Heath Ckeck level determines if your just checking full server health or just checking for a specif service is running (ie Full, Service, ect... you define it for your requirements)
I would use WMI as there could be different versions of powershell installed and take the compatibility issues away when writing the script.
Below is a good starting script for you to use where it queries via WMI and generates a html report that is emailed out.

  • Daily Health Check MESSAGE

I'm a simple user.  Here is what I get.  ---   Daily Health Check "Could not read the language folder for the Installation Monitor"  1) Is this serious?  2) How do I fix it?  Thanks.

    >
    > please
    thanksAs you said,
query you wrote above would give details about users sessions wait time and state,
and that info by itself would inform you about just one small piece of the overall database health state,
so by that query alone you can't be 100% sure that your db is not sick.
I guess you should also at least check: backup status, datafiles space availability, alert.log and istener.log for errors ,db objects status, oracle memory structures utilization...
and so on... + any similar checks or those ones specific to your company needs..
AWR report is mostly self-explanatory and ways how to analyze it was already many times eplained on www,you should search for those instructions
and come here with more concrete question regarding the AWR report.

  • Health check script suggestions...

I used the health check script from metalink and it gave me few suggestion regarding my replication environment. One of them is ...
+ SUGGESTION: One or more propagation processes contain rule sets.
+ If a Propagation process will unconditionally forward all incoming
+ messages to its destination queue, and no rule-based transformations are
+ performed by the Propagation process, you should consider removing
+ the rule set for the Propagation process via dbms_propagation_adm.alter_propagation.
+ This will improve Propagation performance.
What is get from this is since i have same rule defined in propagation also as the one in capture, So suggestion from orcale is remove the propagation rule and let everything propagted through...anyhow since i want everything a capture process captures to be replicated on destenation.. so i removed the propagation rule. ..
But now the replication has stoped performing after that.....
can any one suggest me if my undersanding for above healthcheck suggestion is wrong then wht does it mean?
    Kapil

Did you remove both the rule AND the rule set, or did you remove only the rule?
If it was a positive rule set and you removed only the rule, you left an empty rule set as a positive rule set for the propagation. This will cause it to discard all messages.
An empty positive rule set is not the same as no (null) positive rule set. A null rule set means "forward all messages, since there is not filter rule", but an empty rule set means "there is a rule: that no message will be forwarded".

  • DB Health Check Scripts

    Hi all,
    Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g
Can you share me your "health check" scripts which you have used in your PROD database and is proven to help you in carrying out your desired tasks being a good DBA :)
Does AWR be able to generate health check report?
    Thanks a lot,

Wow this one site is complete, But it will take years for me to read all these. And I dont know if this is for 8i, 9i, 10g, or 11g.
Can you tell me which of these scripts will list the Top 10 most resource consumers queries? in terms (CPU,Memory,I/O).If you enable SQL_TRACE prior to launching AWR report, then you capture EVERY SQL statement to build the report.
You could easily observe the answer to your question if you were only willing to actually did some lilttle work instead of asking to be spoon fed.

  • Powershell script for Exchange Server 2010 health check

    People,
Can anyone here please share the Powershell to check the Exchange Server health and functionality after patching and Service Pack update?
I need to test multiple servers in my AD environment.
    Thanks
    /* Server Support Specialist */

    Hi,
In Exchange 2010, you can use the Test-ServiceHealth cmdlet to test whether all the Microsoft Windows services that Exchange requires on a server have started.
A related article about this command.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998852(v=exchg.150).aspx
You can also use the EXBPA tool to do Exchange server health check. You can look at the blog below.

  • Exchange 2013 Install Readiness check problem

We have a test environment which was 2008R2 AD.  We properly went through the migration path and are currently at 2012R2 Active Directory functional level.
I'm installing Exchange 2013 with Sp1 into the domain.  I have successfully prepared the domain as outlined on technet, and verified its success with the logs and looking in ADSI edit.  No errors.  All seems to have ran correctly.
When I attempt to install the first exchange mailbox server, the Readiness check fails saying "the local domain needs to be prepared using Setup /PrepareDomain before server roles can be installed"...  1 forest, 1 root domain, 1 child domain.
The account I'm using is a member of Schema Admins, Enterprise Admins, Domain admins etc.
Has anyone else come across this or have any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies.  Yes, replication has occurred.  We have 2 DC's in the root, and 2 DC's in the child.  After each prepare I ran "repadmin /syncall", each time completing successfully.  I also verified the settings in
ADSI edit, and all match up correctly to the chart.  The exchangesetup logs indicate each prepare runs successfully.
I have also rebooted all 4 DC's and the Exchange server I'm trying to install.  I have verified the record in DNS.  Where is the script that the Readiness check is running?  I may look into taking that check out of the script!
Also, looking at the exchangesetup log, it is showing different information in it than before (same error on the GUI screen).

  • Unable to connect to Exchange 2013 by the PS Script from Win 8.1

    Good day to all
There is the  corporate Exchange 2013 server in main office  and  local Windows 8 (and 8.1 too) and Windows 7 Enterprise workstations in regional office in one AD domain.
I am local admin in this regional office and one of my duty is work with my part of Exchange accounts. So I do it with PowerShell Win ISE environment .
I make initial connect to Exchange server by this script (running in Win ISE with admin rights)
    $UserCredential = Get-Credential
    $Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri http://exchange.server/PowerShell/ -Authentication Kerberos -Credential $UserCredential
    Import-PSSession $Session
On Windows 8 WS it issued an error with a such strange message :
New-PSSession : [exchange.server] Connecting to remote server exchange.server  failed with the following error message : The WinRM client sent a request to an HTTP server and got a response saying the requested HTTP URL was not available. This is usually
returned by a HTTP server that does not support the WS-Management protocol.
But if I try to run this script on Windows 7 Ent workstation in a same environment (Win ISE) I  havent got any errors and I can to connect with corporate server.
All of these workstations (Win 8, Win 7 ), have got  same versions of PS (4.0) .  There is no firewalls between server ans workstations . Local firewall on Win 8 WS disabled .
Because I am local admin  I can't  rule by the  Exchange Server console, accordingly to corporate policy. I cant reach it anymore . But I think that problem is deep in Win 8 settings.
So why I can't connect to ES from Win8 ? Any help would be appreciated .
    Thanks again.

    Hi,
Since it works fine with same command in Windows 7, this issue may be caused by Windows 8.1 client side.
According to the error message, I find an blog for Exchange server side. For your reference:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2010/02/04/3409289.aspx
Just in case, please open IIS manager and switch to Default Web Site. Right-click Default Web Site, and then click Edit Bindings to double check the configuration for HTTP:
    1. Make sure the value of Hostname is empty.
    2. Ensure the port is 80.
For your question, I have test this command in Windows 8, it works fine.
Is there any extra software installed on it? please try to run Windows with clean boot, also we can try this within a new Windows.
Besides, please try to telnet port 5985 and manually open this port in firewall ports.
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 readiness check failing

Trying to install our first Exchange 2013 SP1 server on Windows 2012 R2 in our datacentre, the readiness check fails with:
    Error:
The Active Directory schema isn't up-to-date, and this user account isn't a member of the 'Schema Admins' and/or 'Enterprise Admins' groups.
    For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.SchemaUpdateRequired.aspx
There are many more errors relating to Enterprise admin rights etc.
    Please note that:
My account is Domain admin, Schema admin and Enterprise admin member, it always has been.
I tried the built-in AD Administrator which of course is part of the groups as well, no difference.
Active Directory is at 2008 R2 for domain and forest functional levels.
I tried rejoining the new Exchange designated server to the domain
I've installed RSAT-ADDS, the Managed API 4.0 and all the other windows roles via powershell
There is a local domain controller that is a global catalog server on the new Exchange server subnet
I tried running the Exchange Setup on a different server on the same subnet as where the active 2010 Exchange server resides as well as the FSMO AD role holder resides, this works fine. I even did the AD prep from there no problem, that made no difference
    on the datacentre server
AD replicates fine between the FSMO role holder and the Datacentre (no errors in dcdiag or repadmin /showrepl)
This error is in the event log:

So I decided to re-install the OS, worked perfectly now. Only difference from before would be:
SCCM hasn't pushed SCEP 2012 to the new build of the same server yet
The original server was installed in a different AD site and then it was physically mode and reassigned to an new AD site and subnet
I might have installed the pre-reqs in a slightly different order (RSAT-ADDS, all the IIS etc things via powershell
and then the UCM API 4.0. (saw few comments that the order of how you install them matters in other forums).
10 or so Microsoft Windows updates haven't installed on the new OS build yet.
Other than that, its identical. But if its not broken don't fix it, perhaps the above can help someone else though.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 Readiness Checks: No Exchange 2007 server detected

    Hi there,
We are planning to upgrade our current Exchange 2007 server with the new Exchange 2013 SP1. I have been following Exchange Server Deployment Assistant to assist me with this task. Only schema update (setup /PrepareSchema) had been done so
far. I didn’t run setup /PrepareAD command manually because I wasn’t sure if I need to provide ‘Organisation Name’ with it or not?! I have installed all of the prerequisites as noted in the Microsoft documentation.
Now, I am a bit confuse with the ‘Readiness Checks’ page during graphical user installation of Exchange 2013 SP1 setup on Windows 2012 R2. Windows 2012 R2 server has all available updates applied.
    ===
    Warning:
Setup will prepare the organization for Exchange 2013 by using 'Setup /PrepareAD'. No Exchange 2010 server roles have been detected in this topology. After this operation, you will not be able to install any Exchange 2010 servers.
    For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.NoE14ServerWarning.aspx
    ===
I get the message why setup wants to run preparation for the Ex2013 with the ‘Setup /PrepareAD’. But, why ‘No Exchange 2010 server role have been detected in this topology’?! Ok, in my case setup doesn’t detect Exchange 2007 server. Is that ok to proceed
with the installation or something else needs to be done first?
    Thanks in advance.

I need Exchange guru advice here please. Since we already have Exchange 2007 SP3 RU 10 in our Windows 2008R2 Active Directory domain here I need to be 100% confident that pushing Exchange 2013 SP1 “Install” will not override our existing Ex2007 environment.
That would be a huge disaster!
Microsoft is saying that: “Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Setup displayed this warning because
no Exchange Server 2010 or Exchange Server 2007 server roles exist in the organization.”
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.NoE14ServerWarning.aspx
Ok, I get the message about if I continue with Exchange Server 2013 installation, I won’t be able to add Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2007 servers to the organization at a future date..., and why would I need to do that anyway?!
Microsoft wording about “some solutions may require the use...” are very confusing since we will require to consider “Coexistence or migration requirements"
Perhaps, before running Exchange 2013 SP1 setup I need to run setup for preparing AD without “Organisation Name” parameter?! Something like this:
    setup /PrepareAD  /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 Health mailbox generating 4724 event on AD servers

I rebooted one of our Mailbox servers yesterday and ever since on our AD servers I'm getting an Event 4724- "An
attempt was made to reset an account's password" every three minutes."
I did find I had some health mailboxes corrupted and removed those from the OU in AD and restarted the health service again. The problem persisted. I then deleted the health mailbox causing the issue (which is on the rebooted server)- and restarted
the  Health Serice- and the issue started again from the recreated health mailbox.
The mailbox in question is for the DAG active copy on that server. The other two passive copies of that Database have health mailboxes with no issue
Exchange reports full health- no issues whatsover. Any idea what is causing this?

    Hi Tony
Try these suggestion too and i think you would be able to find the problem
First step is to run command "Get-MailboxServer | Get-Mailbox -Monitoring | FT Alias,ServerName" to see if there are any warnings related to health mailboxes.
Also, you may want to check Managed availability with commands like :
Get-HealthReport, Get-ServerHealth, Get-ServerComponentState and check Crimson logs found under Applications and Services Log\Microsoft\Exchange\ActiveMonitoring\ and
      Applications and Services Log\Microsoft\Exchange\ManagedAvailability\
And I would suggest to check password policy configured in your domain, values of attributes like Minimum/Maximum Password Length, Minimum/ Maximum Password Age. If
one mailbox server affected maybe you might need to run a gpupdate /force on that server
I think in your case the password policy is causing this trouble
Let us know after  you check all the above

  • Exchange 2010 Org Health check telling me I need Enterprise CALs, bug?

My new install of Exchange 2010 Enterprise organizational health check  is telling me I also need Enterprise CALs for all of my test users. This does not seem right since I have not enabled any features listed as ecal features at http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/en-us/licensing-exchange-server-email.aspx#Exchange2010CAL
in fact the setup is a very basic one. The test users were migrated from an existing exchange 2007 server but again no enterprise features were enabled there. Is there a way to tell what it thinks I need enterprise CALs for? Is this a bug? I saw a notice that
the RTM version had counted the default exchange active sync policy as an ecal requirement but I figured this would have been fixed by now.

looks like it has reared its head in update rollup 8-v2 for sp3. Last year I was playing around with the archive mailbox to see if it was something we may want to implement. At the time our enterprise cal requirements went from 0 to 1 for the test system
I was using. This ended up being something we did not want to pursue at the time so I disabled the option on the account. Happened to run the organizational health link today and now it says that all accounts need enterprise cals. Did not appear to be an issue
    in update 7.
