exec tag in Ant buildfile returns error=1....HELP!!!

HI all
I have a build.xml file that has a "deploy" target to deploy WAR file so Sun's Java Server PE v8...
I am on Windows XP and I cannot get the <exec to work ..here is my target description
     <target name="deploy" depends="">
          <echo message="Deploying WAR ${war_file.name}..."/>
          <exec executable="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\cmd.exe /c">
               <arg line=" ${s1as_admin.cmd}"/>
          <arg line=" deploy"/>
               <arg line=" --echo"/>
          <arg line=" --user ${s1as_admin.user}"/>
          <arg line=" --password ${s1as_admin.pass}"/>
          <arg line=" --host ${s1as_admin.host}"/>
          <arg line=" --port ${s1as_admin.port}"/>
          <arg line=" --force=true"/>
          <arg line=" --name ${app.name}"/>
          <arg line=" --upload=true"/>
               <arg line=" --contextroot=${s1as_app.context}"/>
          <arg line="${dist.home}/${war_file.name}"/>     
          </exec>
     </target>
Now if I copy and paste the output into a shell window it works fine...I tried several variations including a simple
          <exec executable="cmd.exe /c cls">
and the same thing happens. Works with cut n' paste but not from within ant script....
Can someone help me please

I got it......exec command must be by itself even if the arg is integral part of it...so here is a working target....
wow....I played with this for an hour...decided to post a question and then as soon as I did I figured it out...funny :)))))
