exec tag in Ant buildfile returns error=1....HELP!!!

HI all
I have a build.xml file that has a "deploy" target to deploy WAR file so Sun's Java Server PE v8...
I am on Windows XP and I cannot get the <exec to work ..here is my target description
     <target name="deploy" depends="">
          <echo message="Deploying WAR ${war_file.name}..."/>
          <exec executable="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\cmd.exe /c">
               <arg line=" ${s1as_admin.cmd}"/>
          <arg line=" deploy"/>
               <arg line=" --echo"/>
          <arg line=" --user ${s1as_admin.user}"/>
          <arg line=" --password ${s1as_admin.pass}"/>
          <arg line=" --host ${s1as_admin.host}"/>
          <arg line=" --port ${s1as_admin.port}"/>
          <arg line=" --force=true"/>
          <arg line=" --name ${app.name}"/>
          <arg line=" --upload=true"/>
               <arg line=" --contextroot=${s1as_app.context}"/>
          <arg line="${dist.home}/${war_file.name}"/>
          </exec>
     </target>
Now if I copy and paste the output into a shell window it works fine...I tried several variations including a simple
          <exec executable="cmd.exe /c cls">
and the same thing happens. Works with cut n' paste but not from within ant script....
Can someone help me please
Thanks
Amir

I got it......exec command must be by itself even if the arg is integral part of it...so here is a working target....
wow....I played with this for an hour...decided to post a question and then as soon as I did I figured it out...funny :)))))
     <target name="deploy" depends="">
          <echo message="Deploying WAR ${war_file.name}..."/>
          <exec executable="cmd.exe">
          <arg line="/c ${s1as_admin.cmd}"/>
          <arg line=" deploy"/>
          <arg line=" --echo"/>
          <arg line=" --user ${s1as_admin.user}"/>
          <arg line=" --password ${s1as_admin.pass}"/>
          <arg line=" --host ${s1as_admin.host}"/>
          <arg line=" --port ${s1as_admin.port}"/>
          <arg line=" --force=true"/>
          <arg line=" --name ${app.name}"/>
          <arg line=" --upload=true"/>
               <arg line=" --contextroot=${s1as_app.context}"/>
          <arg line="${dist.home}/${war_file.name}"/>
          </exec>
     </target>

  • Jdev EA1 return error in running an already tested war file (imported war )

    Hi
    Thank you for reading my post.
    I have an Odd problem with Jdev EA1
    I have a war file , I import it into Jdev (new /project/projects from war file)
    I should mention that this war file developed in Rational application developer (Struts based ,database, higly use of other Taglibs)
    Now when i try to run my imported application , it does not run at all, it stops with some errors :
    for example in compiler log it return error for following line :
         <logic:redirect page="<%=session.getAttribute("LastPage").toString() %>" />
    [/Code]
    the  error is :
         Error(29): Attribute: LastPage").toString() is not a valid attribute name
            Error(29): Attribute: % is not a valid attribute name
            Error(30): Encountered end tag </logic:present> without corresponding start tag.
    Also it returns :
         Error(32): Tag attempted to define a bean which already exists: currentModel
            Error(33): Tag attempted to define a bean which already exists: currentName
    for the following code :
    [CODE]
    <logic:equal name="Language" value="en">

         <SCRIPT SRC="ctst.js"></SCRIPT>               ////line 33
    </logic:equal>I import it into netbeans and it run correctly on tomcat, i deploy it inot sun Java apps and it works ok.
    Even i tried Jboss , geronimo to test my application corectness
    Can you tell me what is wrong ?

    Hi
    I think its serious , Jdev Does not works correctly with a correct war file ,
    some one from Jdev team should think about it.

    Please, whenever you post a question stating "the code return error", then post the complete error stack you get. How can we help if we do not know what error?
    Your syntax for accessing other databases looks like MS/SQL syntax to me? That will not work in Oracle. You need a [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/statements_5005.htm#i2061505]database link.
    When you have the database link, you access data from the other database using something like:
    select column_names from schema_name.table_name@dblink_name;(I assume it is two Oracle databases you wish to get data from - otherwise you need to look into heterogenous gateway ;-) )

    The workaround is to change the complex data types
    to have more than one level package names.
    for eg: change ....
    package foo;
    class Data{}
    to :
    package foo.bar;
    class Data{}
    -manoj

  • System Exec error message help

    I have a piece of code as shown in the attached jpg.  And I have it deployed just as shown, without the error cluster being wired.  I use this piece of code to ping a server to see if it's there, meaning to see if it responds with a correct ping response.  If so, I then move forward with writing a data file to that server that I write every half hour for days or weeks at a time.  If the ping response is not correct, I simply go on and return one half hour later with even a larger (appended) data file to write.  My main intent is to not have my code sit and wait, trying to write a file to a server that might not be there...
    I've used this same code and technique for years without fail.  Until recently.  When it did finally fail, I got the worst of all possible outcomes where the ping command itself caused my code to hang with error messages I will provide shortly.  And I'm hoping someone can tell me what would even cause a message like those below in the first place...  The entire goal of using this ping of the server was to avoid having the "write file" command get held hostage by the server not being there...  But if the ping command itself causes the code to put up error messages (and no one is there to monitor this typically) then that constitutes a situation where my cure became my problem.
    See in the jpg where I use
    ping -w 200 -n 1
    followed by the name or IP address of the server.  (that's what comes out of the "ping" control you see in the jpg).
    The -w 200 modifier is a 200 ms timeout to wait.
    The -n 1 is the number (1) of echo requests to send.
    When this code fails, it puts up, in sequence, four messages like the one below.  Note that this code is running from an executable that would be found on this Windows XP machine at
    C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxuser\My Documents\my_executables\
    The first of the four messages, each of which you have to click OK to to see the next one, is as follows.
    The file C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxuser\My Documents\my_executables\-w could not be opened.  No application was found to open that type of file
    The second message is identical to the above except the "-w" is replaced by "200" (without the quotes).
    Same with the third message except the "200" is now replaced by "1" (without the quotes).
    Same again with the fourth message except the "1" is now replaced by the full name of the server, eg., "myserver.abc.com" (without the quotes).
    Clearly the System Exec.vi (see that in jpg) is parsing up the ping command, but skipping over the "-n" component(???), and it thinks it's supposed to try to open some non-existent file at the same file location as the executable that is executing my code.
    I get this result rarely so it's hard to figure out what's going on.  Anyone have any ideas what might cause such an error and any hints on how to prevent this show stopping error from occurring???  Do I perhaps just need to practice better programming and wire the error cluster on System Exec.vi???
    Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated...  thanks.. bob..

    It appears to me that your ping command is getting mangled on its way to the command shell, like something is interrupting it or trying to run at the same time.
    When it says the executable cannot be opened, I believe that is because it's trying to process that character or string as its own separate command, instead of as a flag of your ping command.
    I don't know why that would happen or what outside program could be interfering with your call to the command shell.
    I do think that Wart's suggestion is a good one: the cmd /c part should send the command through a slightly different channel that may preven this interference.

  • BUG in 10.1.3.1? invalid Ant buildfile

    Hi,
    just wondering if there's a bug in jdev 10.1.3.1 when:
    1/select a project
    2/properties->ant
    3/browse and select build.xml on the base project dir
    4/ide does not recognise buildfile and displays error dialog "a valid ant buildfile must be specified", and the target list is still empty, though i have many targets defined..
    Regards,
    vienzo

    The structure window then shows normally, all paths, targets and so on, and i can run them, but the problem is that i cannot run it from the main toolbar, because as i go into "manage ant settings", i cannot in any way make JDev to see my targets..
    Thanks, Duncan, for sharing your experience with this issue. I'm more and more persuaded that it is some kind of bug, probably because of a ?system config?
    Btw, i'm using JDev build 3984 of version 10.1.3.1.0

  • Process returns error code = 2

    Hi,
    I have in my code
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmdArray , envArray);
    p.waitFor() returns me 2. What does it mean.
    Any help ?

    I think i was not very clear on what I asked....I know that my process exited with an error.
    I want to know what exactly is the error.
    I am actually trying to run a Oracle SQL Loader . The error stream does not return anything.
    Is there anyway to find the exact cause of this error and the error .

  • WS 3.2.1 - export ant buildfiles - no file produced

    I'm using WS 3.2.1 and am attempting to create a build file using the options "export > ant buildfiles".
    This brings up a "Generate Ant Buildfiles" dialog where the name of the file can be entered.
    There is a "next" button which is disabled and a "finish" button.
    When I click the "finish" button a pop-up windows is displayed for just a millisecond (to fast to read what it says) and no build file is created.
    Does this option actually work in WS 3.2.1?
    thanks for your assistance!

    There is no "Error Log" option under Window > Show View - but I guess that's another issue.
    In the log file we have the following:
    !ENTRY org.eclipse.ant.ui 4 120 2006-12-01 11:07:58.765

  • Returning Errors from a webservice using XMLBeans

    I have a webservice that accepts XML as input and output parameters, and I'm using XMLBeans to handle this. I'm trying to work out how I can return error information from the webservice, so I created an Exception.xsd schema and 'include' it in the output XML Schema, so an exception xml element is valid in the output schema. The problem is, the XMLBean class generated from the output XML schema has no methods that allow me to create an Exception element. Is there some other way of handling the return of exceptions from webservices using XML?

    The answer is just throw a SoapFaultException and put the exception.xsd XMLBean in the FaultDetail section of the SoapFaultException.

  • Bug Report - DB toolkit returns error when calling the DefaultDatabase property with SQLite

    There's an old bug in the DB toolkit where calling the DefaultDatabase property returns error -2147217887 if you're using certain DBs (such as SQLite or PostgreSQL and I believe MySQL as well).
    The problem is that this property is called by a VI which is used in some of the commonly used VIs (such as the insert VI),
    causing them to fail. Whoever wrote the code was aware of this issue,
    since they added a comment about it, as you can see below.
    The immediate fix for this is pretty easy -  add code to ignore the error or don't call the property at all. It's not used anywhere in the toolkit and unless you're using the VI yourself to get the property, this won't break any code. The problem with this is that you need to do this in every PC.
    NI already has a CAR for this (CAR 232063) and should hopefully fix it, so there's no need to take further action at the moment. This post is for people searching for this in the future.
    Try to take over the world!

    Interesting. I have seen this before but it returned a different error code. (Error -2147352567)

  • After upgrading to Lion the bookmarks in Preview returns error message.

    After upgrading to Lion the bookmarks in Preview returns error message : The File "****" couldn't be opened because you don't have permission to view it. To change the perimssion, select the item in finder and Choose File info.  I have bookmarked plenty of files in Preview.  How to overcome this error message???

    Doesn't work Steve. I think it is an issue with Preview being sandboxed (check the sandbox column in Activity Monitor: Preview = Yes). Sandboxed apps restrict file access to those the user has explicitly selected. My theory is that this causes the unfortunate side effect of bookmarked or linked PDFs not working. A simple test: open a file with bookmarks, manually open the bookmarked file and then select the bookmark in the first file - it should open with no complaints about permissions (which leads to a weak workaround: open all the PDFs you intend to work with!).

  • SSRS expression returns #error value in some cells

    Hello,
    What do you think below expression sometimes return #error value in ssrs.
    =SUM(Fields!X.Value / 100 * DateDiff(DateInterval.Day,Fields!s_date.Value,Fields!e_date.Value)) /
    IIF( SUM(DateDiff(DateInterval.Day,Fields!s_date.Value,Fields!e_date.Value)) = 0
    ,nothing
    ,SUM(DateDiff(DateInterval.Day,Fields!s_date.Value,Fields!e_date.Value))

    Hi,
    Use below expression to overcome the issue:
    =
    IIF( SUM(DateDiff(DateInterval.Day,Fields!s_date.Value,Fields!e_date.Value)) = 0
    , 0
    , SUM(   Fields!X.Value / 100
    * DateDiff(DateInterval.Day,Fields!s_date.Value,Fields!e_date.Value)
      SUM(DateDiff(DateInterval.Day,Fields!s_date.Value,Fields!e_date.Value))
