Execute a query to three DB in parallel
Hi,
I would like to execute a query to three external servers in parallel in order to obtain the result of an SQL query.
The result I want to obtain is a list of objects which pertain to a user. This user may have objects in one, two, or three databases.
The way of doing it should not consume too much memory. I'm using Java mobile and have limitated memory.
Could you please tell me what's the better way of doing this? Can you provide an example?
Thanks in advance
I wouldn't create three queries from the device itself. Create a separate service that does the three queries for you (could be as simple as a java webserver with a servlet) and reference that service in your java mobile application. Far easier to make secure also.
And yeah to do three queries at once, you'd need multithreading I'd say. Or just execute the three consecutively, they shouldn't take much time anyway.

Issue in executing contains Query(Oracle 11g Enterprise E on Linux RHEL 4
Oracle Version: 11.1.0.6.0
We are facing problem in executing contains Query :
1.When length of string inside contains clause goes beyond 4000 it gives error ORA-01704: string literal too long
2.We try to modify query by breaking it into multiple contains clause but it was not giving good performance (performance degrades as number of contains clauses increases.)It seems accessing same index multiple times becoming costly and taking more time. (We can see same domain Index has been accessed 3 times for 3 contains clause ()
3.We used multiple varchar(4000) type bind variable in single contains clause but giving error
ORA-29902: error in executing ODCIIndexStart() routine
ORA-01489: result of string concatenation is too long
4.We used bind variable of type clob but giving error
Error:
ORA-29902: error in executing ODCIIndexStart() routine
ORA-20000: Oracle Text error:
DRG-50857: oracle error in drexrstart_clob
I read from article
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/text/pdf/ot11g_new_features.pdf
That we don’t need to modified query as we had to do with SDATA(as we are doing in above examples) and optimizer will realize that query can be satisfied by the text index and will “push down” the filtering of rows into the text index processor rather than doing table access for filtering on sdata column but when I tried to write that query it was doing table access to filter for filter by column.
My Questions:
a. Is it possible as mentioned in above point(point number 5) that we don’t need to write SDATA query in contains clause and optimizer will use composite index automatically.
b. Is there any workaround for using string literal > 4000 char in contains clause.
c. Why performance degrades lineally when using multiple contains clause.
d. Can we use in clause in SDATA and write query like this:
i. SDATA(queryid in ( 'q1',’q2’))
/* Table */
create table ContentStore (ResourceID raw(16), QueryID VARCHAR2(38),IFID VARCHAR2(38),ISTimeStamp number,ISProtocolName VARCHAR2(100),ismimecontenttype varchar2(100),ISToBeDisplayed number(1),IndexedMetaText CLOB)
/* Index */
create index idxMeta on ContentStore (IndexedMetaText) indextype is ctxsys.context filter by queryid,IFID,istimestamp, isprotocolname, ismimecontenttype, resourceid, istobedisplayed order by istimestamp desc parameters('filter ctxsys.null_filter section group GRP_system2 sync(every "sysdate+1/(24*4)" MEMORY 209715200 PARALLEL 2) storage my_text_storage memory 209715200')parallel 2

How can I execute a query from a BSP application?
How can I execute a query from a BSP application?
I´m trying to execute a Query from intranet. I´ve been looking for examples, but the templates I´ve found doesn´t help me.
does anybody has an example?
Thanks.Hi
Have you designed the BSP application ?
design it first with one page
page will have layout and Event handlers
Design the layout with the fields
in the event handler there are events
in the event On Initiailization or ON inputprocessing write the select query similar to what we write in routine ABAp and fetch the data into ITAB and that has to be passed to the Layout
see the doc

To learn how to create Web applications with Business Server Pages, you can work through the simple tutorials that build on each other. You should be able to run through all of the steps described here in your own system.
If you want to develop Web applications with BSPs, your system must meet the following requirements: Prerequisites for Creating Web Applications.
The following tutorials are available:
· First Tutorial: First Steps with Business Server Pages
· Second tutorial: A Small BSP Application and A Small BSP Application with HTMLB
· Third tutorial: Our First Online Bookshop
· Fourth tutorial: Further Developing the Bookshop
· A small Tutorial is also available for your first steps with the Model View Controller design pattern.
· For a more complex MVC tutorial based on the third tutorial, see: Our Little Online Bookshop Using MVC and HTMLB
When creating BSP applications, note the browser dependencies described in Note 598860.
steps:
1) start the transaction RZ10.
2) now u u have to select Profile name, so select the INSTANCE Profile from the list of options given with the Profile parameter list.U may find multiple instance profile in the list, so select the profile in which ur server name is given.
3) u will also find three options in the same window.
Administrator data, Basic Maintenance, and Extended Maintenance. So select the last one from that.
4) Now click on change button.
5) here u will find parameter icm/host_name_full, so now set it as FQDN.
6) Now copy ur settings with new version number.
7) Activate that version.
8) And now please restart ur WAS.
So this will set ur FQDN, and also don't forget to login using Admin User.
Now u also check for following service are active in your ICF setting or not,( just start transaction code SICF)

IvanHi,
You would be better off posting / searching on other Oracle forums that deal more specifically with Application Servers. I googled "WebLogic set time_zone" and the first three hits were from our forums:
Default TimeZone
How to fix msg=ORA-01882: timezone region not found

I hope one of the these is what you are looking for.

APD - Numbers of Jobs used to execute datasource query
Hello experts,
I would like to ask for your view about an issue that I discovered while executing APD flows in background ("schedule job" button in transaction rsanwb or via Process Chain) vs. executing APD flows as dialogue job ("execute" button in transaction rsanwb).
a) If an APD flow is executed in background the datasource query of the data flow is accessing all InfoCubes (connected to the multiprovider of the query) sequentially. Only one job is used that is working its way through around 10 InfoCubes after each other.
b) If an APD flow is executed in background the datasource query of the data flow is accessing all InfoCubes connected to the multiprovider in parallel using many jobs that are reading the content of the InfoCubes at the same time.
It would be much appreciated if you could provide some input to me how this behaviour is driven and how it can be influenced. From performance point of view I would like the query in the APD Flow to read several InfoCubes in parallel instead of processing each InfoCube after the other.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
SvenHi all,
in the following SAP note "Note 605213 - RSCRM: Performance" it says that ODBO (when an APD Analysis Process is executed, the required data is read via the ODBO interface of SAP BW) executes the query in a different way than BEx or TA RSRT does. So you can't compare both regarding speed.
Still I am wondering why there are difference if I execute the Analysis Process in background job and dialogue in the way the query is accessing the InfoCubes of the used Multiprovider in paralle (dialogue) or sequentially (background).
Any ideas? You help is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Sven -
While executing the query the output is completey different from the query
Dear friends,
We built a query and loaded the data for that infoprovider.
While executing the query the output is completey different from the query what we have built.
Output has no relevance to the query.
Kindly help the same.
Regards,
SathyaHI Satya,
In my opinion the issue is with your front end.
Results should be identical in RSRT, BEx Analyzer (Workbooks) and the ABAP-Web since all three frontend tools use the "ABAP Runtime layer".
It may differ In the Portal where the new "Java Runtime layer". (Java-Web.) is used.
This is given in OSS Note 1296576 - Different Query Behaviour: ABAP - Java.
So i think the problem lies in your analyser. If you are using Analyzer: BI Add on 7.X (Based on 7.10) try and get support package 8.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Execute BEX Query via Function Module
Hi Mates,
I want to execute BEX query via a Function Module.
Also i want to explore whether the input parameters of the query can be retrieved from a Database Table.
Please let me know how this can be achieved.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
HrishikeshHi Hrishikesh,
Assuming you have the necessary ABAP knowledge, you will have to code the exit in the include ZXRSRU01 under I_STEP = 1 (this is because you want to prepopulate your parameters from the values in your DB table).
Your DB table has Key1, Key2 and Your field as the three fields and you want to read the value of 'Your Field' based on your keys Key1 and Key2.
So, the code will be something like -
when 'Your variable'.
if i_step = 1.
select single 'Your field' from 'Your DB table' into lv_your_field where Key 1 = 'X' and
key 2 = 'Y'.
clear l_s_range.
l_s_range - low = lv_your_field.
l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
append l_s_range to e_t_range.
endif. -
Pesky Error Executing Database Query
About three times a week, we get a ton of errors for "Error
Executing Database Query", all at once. That is about as
descriptive as it gets. It does tell us the line and the exact SQL
statement it tried to run, but when we copy and paste the SQL into
a query browser it runs fine. It's almost like there is a
connection failure somewhere between CF and the db that is causing
this "error"? Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thanks for
any help.We sometimes get that when a table has been corrupted on the
SQL server, or the DTS service is having issues. The error just
says there is a database execution error and says the error was at
xyz, just like yours.
Generally restarting the SQL server fixes the issue because
when it restarts, SQL server rebuilds the tables as a kind of
repair.
Our problem seems to relate to issues with the drive. Just
lately we saw a note in the Event Viewer that indicated that one
drive had a bad block. It is possible that during the "repair" SQL
moved the data off that block, similar to how defrag would.
Basically, if you are seeing it semi-regularly and it works
fine after restarting the data server, you may want to schedule a
maintenance downtime and run a full disk check and defrag, possibly
even replacing the drive. -
Hi,
While executing a query in portal it is giving internal server error.
In the input screen help, we are searchign using wild card characters.I.e " 141",its giving internal server error,
If we are giving the one value/no value the report is executing correctly.
The input variable is a heirarchy variable. We tried to give it in the heirarchy format also. Still its not working.
Could anybody help on this.
Thanksu might be using "select * from <table name>", instead try this
"select slno as slnod, title as titled.."

GO button to execute a query once report parameters are selected.
I am familiar with the GO button depicted in chapter 10 of the 2 Day Developer manual that does not cause the report to be rendered until a user chooses a value from a select list of values. The GO button is used in conjunction with Null Value Text (ex. -Select-), Null Value (ex. -1), and Default (ex.-1).
I need an alternative to the above method that will still force the user to pick a value from the List Of Values parameters prior to executing the query and rendering the report. Please provide.
Thanks, Don From MaineWhy don't you use a validation process?

Can I stop a report from Re-executing the query when I go back to that page
I have a report that has a complicated query and looks at a lot of information to display the results. This query then links of to show details of individual items that were displayed in the result. But when I hit the back button on the browser, it executes the query again and it takes a while for the page to load.
Is there any way to stop this and only execute the query when the User pushes a Button on the page else display the previous results.
Thanks
SriramAnother alternative is to make that detail link open in a popup window using
javascript:popupURL(...);This way, the complicated report page is always visible. -
How Can I Execute Sql Query in Managed bean?
Hi,
I want to execute sql query in managedbean and get the query result. How can I do?
Best wishes! You can do this by having current Database connection your application is using like this
public static synchronized DBTransaction getDBTransaction(){
FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
ValueBinding vb = ctx.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{data}");
BindingContext bc = (BindingContext)vb.getValue(ctx.getCurrentInstance());
DataControl dc = bc.findDataControl("AppModuleDataControl");
ApplicationModuleImpl am = ((ApplicationModuleImpl)(ApplicationModule)dc.getDataProvider());
return am.getDBTransaction();
and then user DBTransaction object to create Statement and PreparedStatement you can find those in java doc. -

I searched the OSS and found a note 1001621 which said apply support package: SAP_BW_VIRTUAL_COMP - Rel 700 - Pkg name SAPK70012NVCBWTECH
But, our basis guys came back with the reply that the solution suggested in OSS note is for SAPKW70011, but our system is already on SAPKW70012. So, this note cannot be applied.
Is there any hidden solution out there? Please respond asap.
ThanksHi Raj and Sunny,
Actually solution is very simple. You have to open this query in Query Designer and redefine the corresponding selection. The problem is that OLAP in BW 7.x is much more strict to query definition than in BW 3.x. Therefore queries from BW 3.x are not accepted quite often. This error is just one example. So try to touch the corresponding selection using hierarchy and save a query once again. For sure this will help. If not, create a message, we will look at the problem directly in your system.
Best regards,
