Hi..
I need to invoke a Store Procedure AS/400 from my Oracle Database (Workflow Engine). . How Can do That ??
Thank you

Hi Peter,
is the xml File available for the Orchestrator Runbook Service and the logon account?
Or are you Running with Runbook tester? ->

  • HOW TO EXECUTE A STORE PROCEDURE THAT RETURN MULTIPLE ROWS FROM A QUERY

    I NEED TO CREATE AND USE A STORE PROCEDURE THAT IS GOING TO DO A SELECT STATEMENT AN THE RESULT OF THE SELECT STATEMENT IS RETURN IN SOME WAY TO THE REQUESTER.
    THIS CALL IS MADE BY AN EXTERNAL LANGUAGE, NOT PL/SQL OR FORMS APPLICATION. USING FOR EXAMPLE ODBC AND VISUAL BASIC. WHAT I NEED TO DO IS ADD A DATA ACCESS LAYER TO MY APPLICATION AND I ALREADY HAVE IT DONE FOR MS SQL SERVER, BUT I NEED THE SAME FUNCTIONALITY ACCESSING AN ORACLE DATABASE.
    FLOW:
    1. VB CREATE A ODBC CONNECTION TO A ORACLE DATABASE
    2. VB EXECUTE A STORE PROCEDURE
    3. THE STORE PROCEDURE RETURNS TO THE VB APPLICATION THE RESULT OF THE QUERY THAT IS INSIDE OF THE STORE PROCEDURE.(I.E. THE STORE PROCEDURE IS A BASIC SELECT, NOTHING COMPLEX)
    4. VB DISPLAY THE RESULT IN A GRID
    FOR SURE I CAN DO THE SELECT DIRECTLY TO ORACLE, BUT FOR PERFORMANCE REASONS AND SCALABILITY, I'LL LIKE IT TO DO IT USING A STORE PROCUDURES
    IS THIS POSIBLE?, HOW?
    THANKS

    Certainly, it's possible. First, define a stored procedure that includes an OUT parameter which is a REF CURSOR. Then, call the stored procedure via ODBC omitting the OUT parameter from the list of parameters. IT will automatically be returned as a result set. Syntax for both is below...
    CREATE PROCEDURE foo (inParam in varchar2, resultSet OUT REF CURSOR )
    In ODBC:
    {call foo( 'someData' )}

  • How to execute a store procedure automatically every day

    NT4 and Oracle816,I wanna let Oracle execute a store procedure automatically every day.
    How to do it?
    Thanx.

    There are a few ways to do this: first of all you could write a script file and schedule it to run every night.
    Another solution is to use the DBMS_JOB package. Refer to the documentation to see how it is used

  • How call procedure or package from Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.2.1

    Hi Gurus,
    I need to call a procedure or package from Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.2.1 by passing parameters, I do it because it would be easier to fill a table as the report that asks for is too complex (8 breaks, 5 dblinks, 20 tables, etc).
    I'm not using the Oracle XML. Review include the following solutions:
    Re: Stored procedures and dynamic columns
    Re: Is it possible to use Stored Procedures in BI Publisher GUI?

    But none of them useful for me was the level of complexity.

  • Can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?

    Hi ,
    can you suggest a best way to store and read arabic from oracle database?
    My oracle database is Oracle Database 10g Release 10.1.0.5.0 - 64bit Production on unix HP-UX ia64.
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
    I have presently stored the data in nvarchar2 field. But i am not able to display it correctly.

    Using the national characterset should work but there are other factors that you have to consider when working with NCHAR/NVARCHAR2/NCLOB.
    If possible, changing the characterset is usually the best solution if it's a possiblity for you.
    For more info:
    Dear Gurus: Can u pls explain the difference between VARCHAR2 & NVARCHAR2??

  • Can't execute Sybase store procedure

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to execute sybase store procedure, but somehow the procedure not executing. if any body what's the problem? I'm using JBoss server
    Code:
    public void deleteRigMapSP(String pMappingID, String rigid, String date,String pPhysicalDel, String database) throws DataAccessException {
    GregorianCalendar val = new GregorianCalendar();
    DateFormatter dateform = new DateFormatter();
    String deletiondate = dateform.convertGregorianToString(val);
    query = new StringBuffer("EXECUTE spRR_STAT_DeleteMapping ");
    query.append("'"+pMappingID + "',");
    query.append(null + ",");
    query.append(null + ",");
    query.append(null + ",");
    query.append(null + ",");
    query.append(null + ",");
    query.append(null + ",");
    query.append("'"+deletiondate + "',");
    query.append(pPhysicalDel);
    System.out.println("query: "+query);
    try {
         getDBConnection(ServiceLocator.getInstance().getDataSource(database));
         CallableStatement cs = dbConnection.prepareCall(query.toString());
    if (cs.execute()) {
              System.out.println("deleted");
         } else {
              System.out.println("not deleted");
    When I try to execute the method it's run fine, but it not executing the procedure.
    Any help will be greately appreciated.

    How do you know it's not executing? Maybe you're in manual transaction mode and you're not committing the transaction before you close the connection and it gets rolled back.
    And why on earth are you using CallableStatement if you're embedding the parameters into the SQL query rather than using placeholders and the setXXX() methods?

  • Calling stored procedure (AS400) from Oracle

    From Oracle, I can't call a simple stored procedure (function created on a AS400) :
    1) Let's take a basic function in AS400
    CREATE FUNCTION TEST.TEST2 (x INTEGER)
    RETURNS INTEGER LANGUAGE
    SQL CONTAINS
    SQL NO EXTERNAL ACTION DETERMINISTIC
    RETURN x * 2
    2) Let's test the function in AS400 with a simple SQL :
    SELECT TEST.TEST2(5) FROM SYSIBM.SYSDUMMY1
    The return result : 10
    3) I give the maximum Grants to this function
    GRANT ALL ON FUNCTION TEST.TEST2 TO PUBLIC;
    4) Testing the function in ORACLE with a simple SQL (with the gateway) :
    SELECT TEST.TEST2@DB2DBLINK(5) FROM DUAL
    The return result : ERRORS: ORA-06571 and ORA-06512
    QUESTION:
    Is there any tricks or setting on the gateway to make works functions and also procedures?
    Thanks if anyone can help,
    Michel

    Michel,
    This is 'expected' behavior when using an DB2/400 function, but the manual describes on how to be able to use a DB2/400 function:
    Oracle® Transparent Gateway for DB2/400
    Installation and User’s Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.2) for IBM iSeries OS/400
    Chapter 9 - Developing aplication
    Paragraph - 9.6 Using DB2/400 Stored Functions with the Gateway
    <snippet>
    If the stored function is referenced within a SQL command, then the user must specify its name in the IFS file /HOME/MYINST/RDBMS/ADMIN/CALL_NAMES.ORA, where, MYINST is your instance name. If you attempt to use an AS/400 stored function (DB2/400 user defined function) in a SQL command without specifying that name in the above IFS file, then you will get the Oracle error 'ORA-06571: function xxxxx does not guarantee not to update database'. After changing this file, it is recommended that you bring down and then re-start the instance. Other than the declaration of the function name in the above IFS file, the gateway does not require any other special definitions in order to invoke the DB2/400 stored function.
    </snippet>
    The manual can be downloaded from http://docs.oracle.com :

  • (Resolved) How to execute 2 store procedures in 1 transaction?

    public void method1(){

    session.executeNonSelectingCall(spc2);
    The above method is defined in SessionFacadeBean (just like the EJB in SRDemo),
    I want the above 2 procedures executed in 1 transaction. If spc2 failed, the spc1 should not be committed. How can I do this?

    I have changed code as follows:
    public void method1(){
    DatabaseSession session = getSessionFactory().getSharedSession();
    session.beginTransaction();
    try{
    StoredProcedureCall spc1 = new StoredProcedureCall();
    spc1.setProcedureName("PKG.SP1");
    spc1.addNamedArgumentValue("param", "aaa");
    session.executeNonSelectingCall(spc1);
    StoredProcedureCall spc2 = new StoredProcedureCall();
    spc2.setProcedureName("PKG.SP2");
    spc2.addNamedArgumentValue("param", "bbb");
    session.executeNonSelectingCall(spc2);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    session.rollbackTransaction();
    } finally {
    session.release();
    It seems that the "session.rollbackTransaction();" will be executed if spc2 fails.

  • SQL Server Store Procedure, selecting rows from multiple tables

    i have got a store procedure that is pulling data from one table, now i have got the same data collected in a different table,
    as the IDs are different i cannot put all data from the second table into the first one. so now i have to have two select statements in one store procedure. Although the corresponding data is same but the field names in both table are different. for instance
    BRIEF_TITLE would be briefTitle in the second table. how can i merge the data from two different tables into one. the result is bonded to ASP.net grid view control.

    >> I have a store procedure that is pulling data from one table, now I have got the same data collected in a different table, as the IDs are different I cannot put all data from the second table into the first one. <<
    This is redundancy. The idea of databases even before RDBMS, was to remove redundancy. Oh, columns are not fields. These are basic concepts.
    >> so now I have to have two select statements in one store procedure. Although the corresponding data is same but the field [sic] names in both table are different.<<
    NO! Where is your data dictionary that assures data elements have one and only one name everywhere in the enterprise!  You are is serious trouble here. The data element names should be universal and used everywhere with the same casing, so that case sensitive
    standards will work.
    >> for instance BRIEF_TITLE would be briefTitle in the second table.<<
    The quick kludge is a VIEW with the ISO-11179 names over the camelCase crap
    The moron who did the second table does not know ISO-11179 Standards and missed the research that showed us that camelCase does not work. Your eye is trained to jump to an Uppercase letter since it is the start of a semantic unit (proper name, sentence, paragraph,
    emphasis, etc). When we researched this stuff at AIRMICS, this could add 8-12% to the time to maintain code in large systems. Your eyes twitch!
    You really need to get your act together with a good text editor/ pretty printer tools. Get a copy of my SQL Programming Style and adapt it to those tools.

  • Trying to connect to AS400 from Oracle =  ORA-28545

    Hello,
    I woul like to connect to an AS400 DB from an Oracle DB (OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2 - 32 bits, DB: Oracle DB 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0).
    To that, I have done the following steps:
    1) Create System DSN
    Name: AS400_DTA
    Driver: iSeries Access ODBC Driver
    2) Edit tnsnames.ora:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = AS400_DTA)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\bise1\db)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = HOST)(PORT = 1521))
    3) Edit listener.ora:
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = AS400_DTA)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\bise1\db)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    4) create initAS400_DTA in D:\oracle\bise1\db\hs\admin:
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = AS400_DTA)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\bise1\db)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    5) Restart the listener
    6) Create DB link:
    create public database link AS400_DTA connect to "user" identified by "pwd" using 'AS400_DTA';
    In this step I have the following error:
    Link  : "CRPDTA.REGRESS.RDBMS.DEV.US.ORACLE.COM"
    Error : ORA-28545: error diagnosticado por Net8 al conectar a un agente
    Unable to retrieve text of NETWORK/NCR message 65535
    ORA-02063: 2 lines precediendo a DTA
    What I am doing wrong? How can I solve the issue?
    How can I test the ODBC drivers to ensure that connectivity is made to the AS400 database?
    If I execute > tnsping AS400_DTA, the result is:
    TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on 15-JUN-2011 15:05:37

    TNS-12541: TNS:no hay ningún listener
    I appreciate any idea/suggestion.
    Thank you in advance!
    Regards,
    Mónica.

    Monica,
    The error reported from the tnsping is -
    Adaptador TNSNAMES utilizado para resolver el alias
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.18.125.103)(PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = AS400_CRPDTA)) (HS = OK))
    TNS-12541: TNS:no hay ningún listener
    so looks like a problem with the listener and it is also reporting the SID as AS400_CRPDTA and not AS400_DTA as you have in the tnsnames.ora. Are you accessing the correct tnsnames.ora file ?
    Also, the listener.ora entry is -
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = HOST)(PORT = 1521))
    Are you using the actual host name in the HOST entry instead of (HOST = HOST) ?
    What is the output from issuing -
    lsncrtl
    then the 'status' and 'services' command ?
    And an obvious question - did you stop and start the listener after adding the new entry ?
    Also, this is completely incorrect -
    4) create initAS400_DTA in D:\oracle\bise1\db\hs\admin:
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = AS400_DTA)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\bise1\db)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    The initAS400_DTA.ora file should only have these entries -
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFORMATION =AS400_DTA
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=debug
    And finally, 10.2 HSODBC is now desupported and you should install and use the replacement product which is the 11g Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC).
    The following note has links to further information -
    Note.1083703.1 Master Note for Oracle Gateway Products
    If you want to continue to use HSODBC then refer to this note -
    Note 109730.1 How to setup generic connectivity (HSODBC) for Windows NT
    but we strongly recommend you install and use DG4ODBC so that you are on a fully supported version.
