Execute code from a text file ...
Hello , Would like to know whether it is possible to have my ABAP code in a text file in desktop and then execute the code by reading it into an ITAB in another ABAP program .
Note : Pl. dont suggest how to upload and create a new program . I dont want to create a new program after uploading into ITAB using INSERT or function modules . I want to execute the code as part of the uploading program only . So that once the execution is complete the uploaded code will not be available in the SAP system.

Oh dear. The only solution to your requirement is, sadly, to upload and create a new program, and then one further step. There is no other way. So it looks like you'll have to do without.

How to input data into an arraylist from a text file?
I am trying to take data from a text file and put that data into an arraylist. First here is the text file:

The first number below the arraylists in the text file represents the number of items in the list. The second number below the arraylists represents the total value of the items in the arraylists.

Reading a Random Line from a Text File

I have a program that reads from a text file words. I currently have a text file around 800KB of words. The problem is, if I try to load this into an arraylist so I can use it in my application, it takes wayy long to load. I was wondering if there was a way to just read a random line from the text file.

Understanding compile errors due to copying code from a doc file and not a txt file
SITUATION:
My instructor for my micro-controller class refuses to save sample code to a text file and instead saves it to a word document file instead. When I open up the doc file and copy/paste the code into my IDE "CodeWarrior" it causes errors upon compile time.
I am having to rewrite all the code into a text editor and then copy/paste it into my IDE.
MY UNDERSTANDING:
I was told to always save code as a text file because when you save code as a word document file it will bring in unwanted characters when your copy/pasting the code into your IDE for compiling.
Their are students in my class using the schools computers running "Windows" that copied and pasted the code into CodeWarrior and it compiled fine. This is not only frustrating but confusing. However, I know their are students in class with "PC's" running windows that had the same trouble I did so I know it's not a Mac issue.
Also I am running "Parallels" because my IDE for this micro-controller "Code Warrior" is not avaiable for my OS. I realize there are several IDE's out there that require "Windows OS" in general but I know this situation is not a Mac issue or Parallels issue or even a Windows issue. It's purly an issue of formatting that is done between the file being copied and the target program or so I'm understanding.
Can someone exlain to me in better words or perhaps provide a resource, documentation or article that will enlighten me on this issue. I would like to better state my case next time. I'm tired of being told this is a MAC issue and that Windows is just plain better.The problem is (as you suggest) almost certainly a gremlin issue - characters that for one reason or another Code Warrior cannot interpret correctly. Why it happens to you and not others is a different matter. That could mean that the pofessor uses fonts that are not on your machine, or that he is using a different version of word, or it could be in how you access the data. For instance, if the prof posts this word doc on the web you may get different results if you download the file and open it in Word as opposed to opening it directly from a web browser.
The sure-fire solution is to download TextWrangler and copy the code in there first. TW has a number of tools for finding and removing unpleasant characters. it adds a step, but... you could also try resaving the doc file as a plain text file from within word. -
Reading characters from a text file into a multidimensional array?
I have an array, maze[][] that is to be filled with characters from a text file. I've got most of the program worked out (i think) but can't test it because I am reading my file incorrectly. However, I'm running into major headaches with this part of the program.
The text file looks like this: (It is meant to be a maze, 19 is the size of the maze(assumed to be square). is free space, # is block, s is start, x is finish)
This didn't paste evenly, but thats not a big deal. Just giving an idea.

Reading parameters lists from a text file

Using CR XI R2 with VB6 and external .rpt files - - - - -
In a VB6 app I use VB to loop through my tables to create dynamic parameter lists (CR XI is limited to the number of parameters it can create from the table). This works well but each time the user refreshes the report the same code is run to re-create the parameter list which is redundant and slows down the report(s).
Is it possible to manually create a series of text files - say each morning - and then read the parameter lists from the text file(s) at runtime instead of doing it on the fly each time?

Typically, runtime means on the fly - I think...
So, I'm not sure if you are trying to read a saved data report and filter that saved data so that you do not have to hit the database(?).
Creating a text file is beyond the support of this forum, though that should be a trivial exercise. Reading a text file and passing the results to a parameter is the same thing you are doing already, so I'm not sure where the hang up would be here(?)
Or - rather than creating a text file, why not create a temp table and query it as you do when you loop through the tables to create dynamic parameter lists(?).
I'm pretty lost here...

Reading in integers from a text file
Hi, I am going to go for the 'reading in from a text file' action as I haven't done this before. So I have been looking at all the examples and am trying the one out below :) My question is that though the structure seems pretty straightforward, what is the action of the 'token' and why doesn't java recognise it as it is used in many different examples that I have seen?

I got this assignment, and almost have no clue, and my teacher doesn't even teaches us anything
This is what i am suppose to do
5. The program must store the following data about each student in this Talent Show:
* The student's name (store as a String)
* The student's average time score [only for the events they competed in] (store as a Double)
Note: Some of the data comes directly from the text file, and some of the data must be calculated from the data that is read from the file.
6. The program must search through all of the student's scores to find the student who has the minumum average time of all students.
7. You must calculate how many events each student played. Zero values are not counted.
8. You must then generate a report on the screen that prints out

Filling an object ArrayList from a text file
Hi all,
I am developing a project (for university) which has a class named "SupplierAgent", which is required to keep database of custom objects of type "InventoryItem". Basically these consist of a String (for the name of the item), an int representing the quantity on hand, and an int representing the unit price (in cents). I wish to have this inventory loaded from a text file rather than a binary file - that way the user can add new items to the file before loading the agent.
I have included the code below, which works provided the file is rigidly structured. The main problem is the user having to type the path to the file: I cannot guarantee the user will have the file in any folder, and so the user is required to type in the absolute path. Is there any way to make this less annoying? Or is there a better way of loading a preset inventory while allowing the user to edit that inventory at will?
I have included the current code below. it's not exactly in accordance with coding standards, because we are using the JADE agent architecture (hence why the method is called "action") rather than something more informative.
I should also mention that it uses a command line interface. The "io" class basically includes a scanner and the System.out.println method. Its "yesOrNo()" method is for convenience: it asks the user a question and allows them to select y or n.

}Some tips:
1) If you are adding or deleting stuff from a text file you need to write a new, modified file and then, optionally, do something like:
rename the old file to whatever.bak or the like.
rename the new file to the old.
2) Don't depend on System.out so much on a GUI application. For example if you get an exception use javax.swing.JOptionPane to display an alert (and show the message from the exception). You can write the stack trace to System.out if you want.
3) Don't muck about with calculating bounds for screen objects, let a layout manager sort it out. I like BoxLayoutManager for most things like this.
4) For bonus points do your IO in a separate Thread. Generally you don't want anything happening in an actionPerformed method which significantly delays it's return. The method should launch a new Thread to do the job, and disable the button until the Thread finishes.

Cannot make calls or receive calls . . .phone says "searching"
My phone is staying on "searching" and "my number" is gone in my phone settings . . .says "unknown" . . .cannot go in and change it. I've tried resetting it and so far nothing is working??? Has anyone ever had this problem?
