Execute my own SQL statement

How i can execute own SQL statements?
I would like to create my own SQL command!
Is there somewhere exist a interface for it?
Thanks for help.

Hi Björn,
what exactly are you looking for? A tool like sqlplus? Or is it ok for you to just use 'exec sql' in an abap?

  • Inserting your own sql-statements in JSP

    How do I use my own sql-statements in JSP combined with the ones
    generated by JDeveloper?
    It seems to me that the following sentences are the ones
    generating the sql for inserting in a database:
    <jbo:DataSource id="ds" appid="MimPKG.MimPKGModule"
    viewobject="BidragView"/>
    <jbo:Row id="newRow" datasource="ds" action="Create">
    <jbo:SetAttribute dataitem="*"/>
    </jbo:Row>
    I would like to have more control and therefore I need to make
    my own sql-statements.
    Is that possible?
    Thanks
    Leise

    You can use ExecuteSQL data tag to do so. It allows you to
    include your own query like insert, update etc.

  • Execute Stored Procedure SQL Statement with Parameter from Cell

    I would like to know if there is a way to pass the parameters to SQL Statement of Power Query. For example, I have a SQL Statement as follows:
    EXEC [dbo].[spReportBuilder]
    @Report = N'Revenue Summary',
    @Year = N'2014',
    @Period = N'11'
    I would like to know if it is possible to pass the @Report, @Year, @Period values from cells in the workbook, preferably without vba.
    Thanks

    rtisserand,
    Here is the M code:
    let
    IDValue = Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name="YearTable"]}[Content],
    Source = Sql.Database("localhost", "AdventureWorks2012", [Query="EXEC [dbo].[spReportBuilder] @Report = N'Revenue Summary', @Year = N'" & Number.ToText(IDValue[ID]{0}) & "', @Period = N'11'"])
    in
    Source
    Some notes:
    You have to reference the excel query from another step in the query or you will get the following error:
    Formula.Firewall: Query <>something<> references other queries or steps and so may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination.
    I only did the parameter for one value.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to execute the following sql statement in Jdev10g -- custom sql quer

    Hi All,
    I have requirement where I need to execute the below Query String through Jdev10g to Sql Server 2005.
    Query string -- select * from table where #InputString
    << Input String -- col3 like 'col%' and col1 like 'col2%' ...... >>
    Here the Input string will be generated by the client and the results will be transferred back to the client. Can any one help how to do this? Input string would like
    col1 like 'col%' and col2 like 'col2%' and so on.. and this is dynamic which can be changed in runtime like col3 like 'col3%' and col1 like 'col1%' and so on..
    I have tokenized the string and assinged the values and executed the custom string through Input parameters for all the fileds instead of only search string .. since table having so many null fields not receiving the exact row counts and records.. hence I have to pass only the Input string as I mentioned like Query String.. If some body got the same concern please let me know..
    Your help would be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks & Regards,
    Khasim

    Hi All,
    Even though the answer is a bit tedious by formulating the where clause with all fields and dynamic parameters, I achieved the goal. But we do have another option to use orcl:query-database in the transformation. But this one give tedious results when you are trying to achieve multiple rows from this. If some one have a better idea to utilize this query-database function, you are most welcome.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How to execute entire result set of multiple sql statements via sp_executesql?

    I have a query that generates multiple insert statements (dynamic sql).  So when I execute this my result set is a table of sql insert statements (one insert statment per row in my source data table).  Like so:
                 Select 'INSERT INTO [dbo].[Table_1] ([Col1]) VALUES (' +  SrcData + ')' from SourceDataTbl
    How can I completely automate this and execute all these sql statements via sp_executesql?
    My plan is to completely automate and execute all this via an SSIS package.
    As always any help is greatly appreciated!
    fyi-  This is a very simple version of what I am trying to do.  My query probably plugs in 20+ values from the SourceDataTbl into each of the sql insert statements.

    Ah, a small error in Visakh's post, which I failed to observe, and then I added one on my own.
    DECLARE @SQL Varchar(max)
    SELECT @SQL =
       (SELECT 'INSERT INTO [dbo].[Table_1] ([Col1]) VALUES (' +  SrcData +
                ')' + char(10) + char(13)
        from SourceDataTbl
        FOR XML PATH(''), TYPE).value('.', 'nvarchar(max)')
    EXEC sp_executesql @SQL
    Without ", TYPE" FOR XML returns a string when assigned to a variable. The TYPE thing produces a value of the XML data type, so that we can apply the value method and get string out of the XML.
    And why this? Because:
    DECLARE @str nvarchar(MAX)
    SELECT @str = (SELECT 'Kalle Anka & co' FOR XML PATH(''))
    SELECT @str
    SELECT @str = (SELECT 'Kalle Anka & co' FOR XML PATH(''), TYPE).value('.', 'nvarchar(MAX)')
    SELECT @str
    Although the data type is string when , TYPE is not there, it is still XML and characters special to XML are enticised.
    Confused? Don't worry, for what you are doing, this is mumbo-jumbo.

    You could look at the SQL (from V$SQLSTATS, V$SQL or V$SQLAREA) and then determine what it is doing and then get some clues as to why one database has multiple executions of the SQL . Most developer leads would be able to say "ah ... this SQL is executed by this module in this part of the application when the user chooses this option". Then you figure out why you have multiple users choosing the option.
    OR there could be dependencies between different statements or enqueue waits -- and multiple sessions waiting on the same lock !

  • Wish: Executing multiple SQL statements

    I've noticed Raptor, SQL Worksheet, and Toad all execute everything from the beginning even if there was an error. This can be bad if the next statement depended on the first statement being successfull.
    Also, when executing a single statement and you get an error, I've seen a message box pop up saying there was an error. This is annoying. Can there be an option to always put the error message in the script output?
    Could you also have another option to execute a bunch of sql statements starting where the cursor is located? This way, if you were executing say 5 SQL statements, but it failed on the 3rd. You could correct the 3rd SQL statement, and then continue on starting with the 3rd.

    I tried preview 2 (0804), and it is awesome. Thank you so much!
    This time, I didn't have to do anything. It ran out-of-the-box for me on Windows XP using Oracle 9i. I even still have all my other java runtimes and SDK's in the PATH. Nice work ignoring those. This should make my admins happy. And since we don't need to worry about the Oracle client, it will make the DBAs happy. Yay!
    I tried what you mentioned, and it works.
    WHENEVER SQLERROR EXIT FAILURE;

    It stops executing on the SELECT 2 FROM DUALX; which is what I needed.

  • Execute the sql statement stored in table

    friends i m in complication that, how can i execute sql statement which is stored in database table.
    how can i fetch that particular statement from table and make it execute!!!
    Thanks in advance

    I think we should stop at this point and have a little think.
    My understanding is that your plan is to do the following
    -Execute a Dynamic SQL statement which is constructed from values in several columns in a table (Bad idea to begin with)
    -The result of the execution is then loaded into PL/SQL.....not sure how you are handling different column lists but I'll assume you are not having to convert every column value to a VARCHAR2
    -The values returned are then used in an INSERT statement
    So basically your goal here is to take some data from one table and insert it into another table by moving data from SQL to PL/SQL then back to SQL in an elaborate, dynamic way. This is a costly waste of resources and will not scale (this is before we get to the problem of having to read the SQL statement from a table in the first place)
    I would recommend looking the INSERT SELECT statement here: http://psoug.org/reference/insert.html
    This will get the job done in one go. If you really do need it to be dynamic (which you don't, trust me) then you can still store this statement in your "dynamic SQL" table and execute it using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE although I can say for sure that you're going to run into more problems down the line with this architecture, it won't scale very well, and you'll probably waste at least *1* day of your time every week trying to fix a bug caused by the removal of a table, change to a column name etc.......
    However if you believe that storing SQL in a table is the best solution to your problem then go ahead.....at least when you find out that it isn't you'll have learned a valuable lesson.

  • Execute non-sql statement

    Does anyone know how to execute a non-sql statement(eg an oracle command).
    eg stmt.execute("set define off"); // this doesnt work
    Any help will be appreciated

    is there any way to overcome this ?Yes, as already pointed out, you use SQL*Plus rather than JDBC. You can use Runtime.exec() and use input and output files (or streams) and drive SQL*Plus anyway that you want.
    At the very least that solution is going to be more complicated and it means that the oracle client must be installed on any box that runs your solution.
    You would probably be better off looking for a different way to solve your problem using PL/SQL. It probably exists.

  • Using DB Adapter to execute a custom SQL sequence

    Hello everyone, First of all happy 2013
    I've done with Jdeveloper using DB Adapter to execute a custom SQL statement, has been very simple, then the code JCA integrate it into OSB OESP PS3, and have successfully deployed, then did a testing from the console of OSB
    "Before Configure a DataSource and a Connection Factory for Db Adapter"
    I have seen that I have a casting error, but do not understand why, is a single number which I hope to run the following code sequence:
    SELECT
    MYSEQUENCE.NEXTVAL@DBLINK_EXAMPLE
    FROM dual

  • Toplink generate the SQL statement correctly but it does not return any row

    Hi
    I faced an strange problem when using Toplink as JPA provider. Following snippet shows how I create and execute a query using Toplink JPA:
    q = em.createQuery("SELECT B FROM Branch B WHERE B.street LIKE :street");
    q.setParameter("street", "'%a%'");
       List<Branch> l = q.getResultList();
      System.out.println("List Size: " + l.size());The SQL statement resulted by this query is as follow (according to the generated log file)
    SELECT ID, STREET FROM BRANCH WHERE (STREET LIKE CAST (? AS VARCHAR(32672) ))
      bind => [%a%]Problem is that List size is always 0, independent of what I provide as parameter. I tried and executed the generated SQL statement in the SQL manager and I got some tens of record as the result. The SQL statement i tested in the SQL manager is like:
    SELECT ID, STREET FROM BRANCH WHERE (STREET LIKE CAST ('%a%' AS VARCHAR(32672) ))Can someone please let me know what I am missing and how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thank you for reply.
    All data are stored in lower case so, the case sensitivity is not a problem. I am wondering how the generated query works fine when I execute it in the sql manager but it return no result when it is executed by the JPA.
    Thanks for looking into my problem.

  • SQL statement with LIMIT and total count?

    Hello,
    I would like to know if it is possible to execute a single SQL statement that will return me a subset of data (for pagination purposes) that not only includes the subset of data for the page but the count of all available data. Can this be done so as to not take up the cpu and time it takes to essentially run two queries? One to get the subset and one to get the count? I think simply doing a subselect is not going to give me what I want in that we actually query twice.
    There may be no way to do this other than that, but I wanted to check with the gurus here first. :)
    Thanks,
    Mark

    BUT of course it adds additional row in execution plan and takes additional time and CPU :)
    I assume that it directly depends of course on returned result set and some other factors like available sort space but a simple test case on a table big which actually is 1.6 M rows like dba_source got following results:

    I assume that for a small overall returned row count it probably is OK, but for less restrictive search it can be quite deadly as before with two queries.

  • Java hibernate on sql statement

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to execute a plain sql statement using hibernate? In otherwords, I would like to pass in a sql string, and use a hibernate command ( api ) to execute that sql string.
    Thanks a lot.
    cc

    I would like to query all the record form a view, say, allRecord. Here is my mapping file:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE hibernate-mapping PUBLIC
    "-//Hibernate/Hibernate Mapping DTD 3.0//EN"
    "http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-mapping-3.0.dtd" >
    <hibernate-mapping >
    <sql-query name="mySqlQuery">
    <return alias="yr" class="com.org.forms.AllRecordForm"/>
    SELECT *
    FROM AllRecord
    </sql-query></hibernate-mapping>
    Where AllRecordForm is the form for the view AllRecord in the database. Can you tell me where I did wrong? I got Unknown entity: com.org.forms.AllRecordForm error.
    thanks again.

  • Log for all the sql statement executed

    Hi,
    I would like to know how to see the log for all the sql statement executed starting from connection to all the database related actions.
    Is it something that i need to set it up in the driver?
    I'm using Tomcat and JDBC driver.
    Please reply.
    Thanks,

    Make your own.
    Calendar cal = new GregorianCalendar();
    int year = cal.get(Calendar.YEAR);
    int month = cal.get(Calendar.MONTH) + 1;
    int day = cal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH);
    //use calendar object to get other infos such as time of query
    //append your query string
    File f  =new File ("c:\\jakarta-tomcat-3.2.4\\webapps\\ASD\\LOGS\\log" + df.format(day) + df.format(month) + year + ".txt");

    i want to execute a dynamic SQL statment using procedure builder not using forms
    because my statement depending on a variable table name
    i know that i can do that from forms using
    FORMS_DDL('SQL_STAT');
    but i wanna to use the procedure builder
    which function i should use and how?
    please explain in example if you don't mind.
    thanks

    Hi,
    You can very well use DBMS_SQL Package supplied by Oracle for doing this.
    Search for DBMS_SQL in OTN. You will get all info regarding this.
    Regards.
