Execute RFC from PDK based development
Hi All,
I want to execute a RFC from PDK based component (AbstractPortalComp/JSPDynp).
What are the different options availabel for doing executing RFC?
Is there a way I can live without hard coding SAP system Connetion params in the project code or in a properties file?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Aakash
Hi,
you could also use Sap Enterprise Connector - see [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_webas630/helpdata/en/79/c6213e225f9a0be10000000a114084/frameset.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_webas630/helpdata/en/79/c6213e225f9a0be10000000a114084/frameset.htm] for more info.
For getting the client without specifying the login/pass in the code just get it from the usermapping of the current user (from the request) for the alias of the system used:
IJCOClientService clientService =
(IJCOClientService) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(IJCOClientService.KEY);
IJCOClientPoolEntry poolEntry = clientService.getJCOClientPoolEntry(systemAlias, request);
Client client = poolEntry.getJCOClient();
if (!client.isAlive()) {
client.connect();
the rest is as usual - see the help.

Sample Java code and detail to call RFC from Java clas developed in Eclipse
Hi All,
I am new to Java. I have downloaded Eclipse IDE and planning to use for developing Java application to send data to SAP by calling RFC JCO Interface.
I need a sample java code/tutorial step by step to create Java class for simple example to call RFC from Java.
I have downloaded SAPJCO3 from service market place.
Kindly help me to send steps involved to configure for JCO with my Eclipse with JCO.
Thanks in advance.

Calling RFC from JSP : development component
Hi everyone,
I created JSP that call RFC from SAP/R3.
I have problem with the DestinationService.
Without DCs, it worked very good.
But since I created a DC for my JSP project, I have exception at run time regarding
the java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/security/core/server/destinations/api/DestinationService.
Eventhough I add the specific jar, I get an excpetion.
Thanks for the help.

Calling RFC from custom connector
Hi,
I am developing a custom connector for UWL to get tasks from 3rd party system.
I need to call a RFC from backend SAP system to complete Input data for this 3rd party provider.
I assume that I have to make an RFC call from getItems() method of connector.
Any idea how to call a RFC from UWL custom connector code?
Please help.
Thanks & Regards,
AmeyHello Karri,
Yes, I am aware of two ways of calling RFCs from Java code.
Normally, I use following approach to call RFCs from my other Portal Components (JSPDynpages): -
IPortalComponentRequest request = (IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
IPortalComponentContext myContext = request.getComponentContext();
IPortalComponentProfile myProfile = myContext.getProfile();
String sapSystem = myProfile.getProperty("SystemIdentifier");
ISystemLandscapeWrapper landscapeWrapper = (ISystemLandscapeWrapper) UMFactory.getSystemLandscapeWrappers().get(0);
ISystemLandscapeObject systemLandscapeObject = landscapeWrapper.getSystemByAlias(sapSystem);
IJCOClientService clientService = (IJCOClientService) PortalRuntime.
getRuntimeResources().getService(JCO_CLIENT);
request.getNode().putValue(LOCALE_NODE_KEY, Locale.ENGLISH);
IJCOClientPoolEntry poolEntry = clientService.getJCOClientPoolEntry(sapSystem,request);
JCO.Client client = poolEntry.getJCOClient();
client.connect();
IRepository repository = JCO.createRepository("repository", client);
IFunctionTemplate functionTemplate = repository.getFunctionTemplate(Z_BAPI_EMP_GBU_GET);
JCO.Function function = new JCO.Function(functionTemplate);
JCO.ParameterList importList = function.getImportParameterList();
importList.setValue("US", "OBJTYP");
importList.setValue(request.getUser().getUniqueName(), "USRID");
client.execute(function);
JCO.ParameterList outputList = function.getExportParameterList();
gbuCountryBean.setGbu(outputList.getString("GBU"));
gbuCountryBean.setCountry(outputList.getString("COUNTRYCODE"));
gbuCountryBean.setPersArea(outputList.getString("PERS_AREA"));
gbuCountryBean.setCompanyCode(outputList.getString("COMPANYCODE"));
When I tried implementing same in UWL custom connector, I am not able to get instance of 'request' object.
Any hints/ideas on this?
Hence as an temporary alternative, I wrote following to successfully execute RFC.
mConnection = JCO.createClient(sapclient, sapuser,
sappassword, "EN", saphost, sapsysnumber);
mConnection.connect();
mRepository = new JCO.Repository("GetLeaveRequestFlag", mConnection );
IFunctionTemplate ftemplate = mRepository.getFunctionTemplate(Z_BAPI_CHECK_LR_TO_APPROVE);
myFunction = new JCO.Function(ftemplate);
JCO.Field OBJECT_TYPE = myFunction.getImportParameterList().getField("OBJECT_TYPE");
OBJECT_TYPE.setValue("US");
JCO.Field USERID = myFunction.getImportParameterList().getField("USERID");
OBJECT_TYPE.setValue(p_userID);
mConnection.execute(myFunction);
JCO.Field leaveRequestFlag = myFunction.getExportParameterList().getField("FLAG_LEAVE_REQUEST_RECORD");
mConnection.disconnect();
But only catch here is that I need to create & maintain SAP logon credentials for a particular user manually.
It is not possible to single sign on connector user into SAP system (like its done above).
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks & Regards,

Exporting data from Production to Development in a R/3 System
Good Morning,
I have a landscape where i have a Productive and a Development system (SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.70 SR1 1.10 with MaxDB 7.5 running on a HP-UX 11.23) and i was asked to copy the data and customizing (not user master data) from Production to Development. Both systems have 7 clients (6 for each country and one for Human Resources) and i need to copy the productive data to the development data (the Productive data can overwrite the Development data).
This is my first time doing this, and since i have a short deadline to do it, i need all the help i can get...
I'm not sure if i should use SCC8 or SCC9 in order to create a transport request for each client copy.
I've checked the OS space in sapdata and transport directories, i've also checked the database space and i need to change MAXDATAVOLUMES size and also create more volumes.
Now that i've done that, i need to know what to do next... Does anyone knows where i can find a procedure or documentation on this? Some kind of step by step guide?
About the Export Profiles, which default profile should i choose in order to copy
All client specific data, customizing AND NOT user master data?
Can i do any kind of test run before the export in order to understand the space i'm going to need in transport directory for example?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Pedro GasparHello Pedro,
1. In SCC8 the SAP_APPL profile isn't available, so i guess i need to use SAP_ALL and change the user master data accordingly afterwards right?
In that case, you should/can 'Export' the user master of the target system before the Client copy, so that you can re-import the same user master in the target system after sap_all copy from source.
2. I also have several project teams developing in ABAP in my development system. If i export the productive client, will the ABAP code be overwritten (scripts, smartforms, etc...)? I ask this, because right now there are several programs with different versions in both systems (the landscape consists of only a DEV and PRD system NO quality). If the ABAP code in development will be overwritten, i need to tell the development teams to comment all the changes, then create transports to production to make the program versions the same, and then save the data an cofiles to import them again in development after the import. Will also RFC definitions change? Jobs will also be copied? What's the difference between this and a Homogeneous System Copy using backup/restore?
This is the reason that normally the 'Production to Development' copy is not recommended. I would wait if our other techies here can help/advise us for this.
A simple difference between a client copy and system copy is that the client copy is just 'client dependent' change and system copy is 'system wide' change - erasing everything on the target and just overwriting/duplicating the 'complete source' onto the target.

Error while calling an RFC from R/3
Hi all,
I am new to webdynpro. I am calling a RFC from R/3/.the code is like this.
Zhr_Fm_Loan_Input input = new Zhr_Fm_Loan_Input();
wdContext.nodeZhr_Fm_Loan_Input().bind(input);
input.setUsrid(wdContext.currentContextElement().getEmpnoa());
try
wdContext.nodeZhr_Fm_Loan_Input().currentZhr_Fm_Loan_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
catch(Exception e)
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Exception "+e,true);
In the output i am getting an eror Exception com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFCExecuteException.
Can anybody explain the error.
Regards,
RajeshHi Rajesh
Kindly check ur BAPI once from Backend, i hope there is no other mandatory field required apart from Usrid.
I hope BAPI doesnot have any mandatory Structure in it. in case it has , u have to pass that also..
Try printing this context also ..wdContext.currentContextElement().getEmpnoa().. i hope it is not returning a null.
wdContext.nodeZfm_Input().nodeOutput().invalidate(); // Add this line after execute statement

RFC from Sap R/3 to IBM Mainframe...
I should create an RFC from R/3 based on Unix sistem/Oracle to a Mainframe system.....
Any advise on that ?
I never created rfc like that....
thanks and regardsHi Mauro,
Below is the steps to connect to an external MS-SQL server from ABAP... similarly, you can explore connecting to a mainframe...
Regards,
Raj
Connecting to an External database from SAP
<b>Step 1</b>: Create an entry for the External database in DBCON table using Trxn: DBCA.
Table: DBCON (Description of Database Connections)
Field Name Description Value (For: E.g.:)
CON_NAME Logical name for a RAJ
database connection
DBMS Database system MSS
USER_NAME Database user <username>
PASSWORD Password for setting up the connection to the database <pwd>/<pwd>
CON_ENV Database-specific information for a database connection MSSQL_SERVER=depotserver MSSQL_DBNAME=HOF_INDORE
DB_RECO Availability type for an open database connect
<b>Step 2</b>: Now you can write code to connect to the external database
<b>Your Sample code can be something like this </b>
FUNCTION-POOL z_houston. "MESSAGE-ID ..
DATA: BEGIN OF wa,
c_locid(3),
c_locname(50),
c_locstate(5),
END OF wa.
FUNCTION z_houston_connect.

Testing RFC without Executing RFC in SAP R/3
Hi All,
Is it possible to test a sender RFC adapter to invoke Web service in SAP XI without executing RFC in R/3. I am facing problems when executing RFC in R/3. So would like to confirm that the other portion ie, from XI to Webservice is working fine. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thx
DenoHi Deno,
Just go in a stepwise manner and you will know here the error is.
1. First execute RFC and see if it reaches SAP XI.
2. Check in Transaction SXMB_MONI as to which step is going into error.
3. If it's not reaching XI ythen there is problem with RFC destination or the RFC adapter config check that.

How to call the RFC from R/3 to SRM, when we use webdynpro abap? (Urgent)
Hello
We use SRM Server 5.5 with classic scenario.
We want to call RFC in R/3 from webdynpro ABAP.
How can we do that?
We are developing the web report using webdynpro abap.
So we need some of R/3 data such like PR(EBAN)and PO(EKKO,EKPO).
When user choose the search parameter, report diplay the Shopping cart, PR and PO data on webdynpro. So we call the R/3 RFC to display the PR, PO data.
But I tired to call the RFC in R/3, We could not call it.
How to call the RFC from R/3 to SRM, when we use webdynpro abap?
Thank you,

Sender RFC from Third Party System
I have a vendor who is actually communicating through RFC from third party Application to SAP R/3. Now we are trying have XI in between. Where as with minimal impact on both sides.
Solution.
1. Have the RFC made as ZRFC in XI. Let the vendor call the RFC in XI ABAP and internally make an RFC call through XI Interface to R/3 as Sync Interface. Because we need to report the information back to the system where the request initiated.
2. Have RFC INI file copied as SAP Suggests under one of the folders. Develop the regular RFC to RFC Interface via XI.
Is there any other alternatives other than the above mentioned solutions? Or out of those 2, which one will provide the best performance
Appreciate any feedback. Please adviceThat's exactly what we are trying to achieve here. By Eliminating direct connection R/3, we are placing XI in between. But with the budget/timeline constraints from the Partner side, we are trying to have minimal change on the partner side. They might not change something to web service etc...
Here is the text about INI file
You can configure the non-SAP RFC client to connect to the sender communication channel in the following ways:
■ By defining the parameters PROGID, gateway-host, and gateway-service within the saprfc.ini-file using RFC-SDK.
■ By using appropriate parameters in the function RfcOpenEx.
If you use the saprfc.ini-file, the respective RFC destination has to be of type R.
All the parameter values used within the saprfc.ini-file or with the function RfcOpenEx should match the entries maintained within the corresponding sender communication channel.
Example for the saprfc.ini-file is as follows:
DEST=RFCCLIENTEXT
TYPE=R
PROGID=P106646.HKExternalClient
GWHOST=pwdf2153
GWSERV=sapgw40
Please check the following link, for the same text on RFC Sender

Error at executing RFC in a dynpro project but not at executing in R3
Hi experts,
I have a problem whit my RFC. When I execute it from the R3 there's no problem, I got the result that I expected. But I conect the RFC in a dynpro project and when I executed it I got an error.
Supose that my RFC receives a USER as parameter and returns me a table of type RPM_TT_ORG_UNIT.
The structure of my RFC is something like this
* First I obtain the position of the user
CALL FUNCTION 'HRHAP_SEL_POSITION_OF_PERSON'
* If error
IF SY-SUBRC = 1.
MOVE: 'E' TO error-msgty,
'1' TO error-msgno,
'Postion not found for the user in the UO' TO error-msgv1,
SY-MSGV1 TO error-msgv2,
SY-MSGV2 TO error-msgv3,
SY-MSGV3 TO error-msgv4.
APPEND error.
ELSE.
IF Sy-SUBRC = 2.
MOVE: 'E' TO error-msgty,
'2' TO error-msgno,
'An error not expected has ocurred' TO error-msgv1,
SY-MSGV1 TO error-msgv2,
SY-MSGV2 TO error-msgv3,
SY-MSGV3 TO error-msgv4.
APPEND error.
ELSE.
When I executing it from my dynpro project I got the first error 'Postion not found for the user in the UO'. I tought that maybe the USER parameter was not sending correctly, but then I returned the parameter in one of the 4 error messages and turns out that it was sended correctly.
I hope that someone can help me.
P.S Sorry for my english.Hi Hanif,
Can you explain me a litle more because I put the external breackpoint in my abap function but when I try to execute my dynpro project, ir executes like it was no breakpoint at all.
I was trying with something else ...
First, I create a web service from my function module from the R/3. When I try the web service it works fine and I though "OK, this is the solution" but when I import the module in my dynpro project it turns out that the destination and metadata is incorrect. I put one that its like the "default" when all the webservices are, but this web service is not located at this destination. Then I try to put another destination where the RFC is located to, but it didn't work.
My second option was to execute it directly from a simple Java Class using the libraries of sap com.sap.mw.jco and it works fine, but we thing that this is no the correct way of executing it. My code is something like this:
mConnection = JCO.createClient (<parameters>);
mConnection.connect();
repository = JCO.createRepository("MiRepository", mConnection);
ftemplate = repository.getFunctionTemplate("Z_RFC_FM".toUpperCase());
myFunction = ftemplate.getFunction();
// Here I pass the parameters hardcoded
myFunction.getImportParameterList().setValue("HCURA841", "USUARIO");
myFunction.getImportParameterList().setValue("50001129","ORGUNITID");
mConnection.execute(myFunction);
// Here I get the result
JCO.Table table = myFunction.getTableParameterList().getTable("SUP_JERARQUICO");
int rows = tabla.getNumRows();
System.out.println("Rows:" + rows);
for(int i=0; i<rows; i++){
// Get the result on the column ONAME
System.out.println(tabla.getValue("ONAME"));
tabla.nextRow();
I don't know if it could be also a proble o permission of the user. -

Plug a Swing-based development tool into Eclipse
This article teaches you how to integrate a stand-alone Swing-based editor into the Eclipse Platform as a plug-in. Using simple techniques, you can share resources between the Swing tool, the Eclipse Platform, and various SWT widgets -- and these resources can communicate through mutual awareness. Tool vendors who want to bring Eclipse-based development tools to market with a minimal amount of re-coding will also find this article helpful.

I am working since a few months on this topic. We have a Swing Application
which we want to integrate in Eclipse. We decided to do this in little
steps. One of the first is to integrate the application as far as possible
over the Swing Bridge. And the results are really good. We integrated our
editor, some views, resources and the most actions so far. We hope to
release our Alpha version in February.
The really nice thing is, that we could take allmost all our existing Swing
Wizards and so on from the old application. Only some wizards for Project
and new Resource creation had be made new. The communication between AWT /
Swing and SWT is also runnig well. All events (Mouse, Keys..) are being
transfered from one toolkit to the other. The only problem is the
synchronization of the Swing and SWT thread. You often get "Invalid thread
access" messages. But this is solvable.
Gentleware also integrated their modelling tool Poseidon in Eclipse over the
Swing-Bridge. If you wanna see how it looks like, here the download page:
http://gentleware.com/downloadcenter.0.html
You need the Professional version. Their integration is not so nice (I think
they did it really fast). But I think they work on it in the future. But
here you can see that it works ;-)

How to create windows executable file from a java file. Please help.
Hi,
For my project I developed the codes in Java. It is working well with java run time environment. But without that I can not run it. I need to create a exe file (windows executable file) from the java source code. If you have any idea please share it with me.
Even if you know it very lightly, please help with what you know. That would be a big help for me.
Thank you very much.Does anybody know how to read a manual?
