  • Execute powershell commands on a VM from the host.

    I’m wondering if it’s possible to execute PowerShell commands from the host that will be execute on a virtual machine.
    I have around 10 VM and I need to run the same command on all of it and I need to do the same in other 15 host.
    None of the VM belong to the same domain.

    Yes, it's possible.
    It's not recommended to do any administrative tasks from the host. You should remove the GUI and all roles from the host except things related to Hyper-V and used in your environment like Failover Clustering and MPIO.
    As a best practice, set a Windows 8.1 VM as your management station and install RSAT tools on it including Hyper-V Manager. It also comes with Powershell modules you need to run Powershell commands and scripts against all your hosts and VMs.
    On the machines to be managed by Powershell you need to enable Powershell Remoting. In Server 2012 and above and Windows 8 and above this is enabled out of the box (even core versions). In older versions of Windows
    enable Powershell Remoting manually as shown in this post.
    On the management Win 8.1 VM that has RSAT installed, if the managed machines belong to the same domain as the managing station, you're good to go. If not, run this command on the managing station:
    winrm s winrm/config/client "@{TrustedHosts=""My2003Server,host2,host3,vm4""}"
    Execute your scripts against multiple machines by using Invoke-Command as in:
    'Computer1','Computer2','Computer3' | % {
    $Result = Invoke-Command -Computer $_ -ScriptBlock {
    Get-Process
    $Result
    This example, will execute the commands in the scriptblock on each of the 3 computers in line1, and return the result.

    Hi!
    I'm working on a set of scripts to automate MOC classroom installations using MDT and PowerShell. Sofar I've been able to automate everything except for the Rearm needed within the VM Clients. Is there any command (preferably PowerShell) that I can Launch

    If you think your to small to make a differnce, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room...

    If you wanted the pings to run in parallel, you could have this applet configure another applet to do the pinging, then remove it on the last run.  This will require an amount of programmatic logic, though.  If you wanted to keep things a bit simpler, add another applet that runs at 22:00 that configures a watchdog pinging applet, then a third applet that runs at 22:10 that removes the pinging applet.
    When it comes to embedded quotes when you configure your nested pinging applet, you'll need to use $q to stand for the embedded quotes.  You'll also need to configure:
    event manager environment q "

  • Best method to execute a command on a remote machine?

    I am currently using runtime.exec to execute commands on the machine where my java gui is running. What I would like to do is to execute the programs on a remote networked machine.
    What should I be looking at? creating sockets, using rmi?
    eventually it would be good to utilise ssh for the connection.
    Any help is much appreciated.

    haven't really looked at this properly, was really after some advice on what methods would be useful.....
    I can see that a telnet type solution can work... need to look further at rmi i think

  • Vision EXEcutable does not work on host machine (missing subVIs)

    Hello,
    I am working on LabVIEW 10 / vision 11. I am making a VI to take a picture with USB camera and I built this application to create an executable.
    This executable works fine on my computer (which has LabVIEW installed) but does not work on other a host machines.
    I tried to run this application on another computer with LabVIEW installed and it worked fine.
    On host machines, it keeps telling me that I have missing subVIs (only vision subVIs !!). All my other executables without vision VIs work fine...
    Do I need a license on my host machine to run my executable?
    Do you have any other idea?
    Thank you!
    Nicolas.

    On a target machine, you need the LabVIEW runtime engine and a the Vision Acquisition Software installed to run an executable. The LabVIEW runtime engine doesn't cost anything but you still need to pay for the license of Vision Acquisition Software.

  • Invoke windows sound recorder in host machine by flex application

    Hi
    I have a flex application which provides option to invoke
    windows sound recorder in client machine. User provides path of
    windows sound recorder exe file and using 'navigateToURL('path of
    recorder given by user)' method i plan to invoke the recorder in
    client machine.
    While executing this code in flex builder it runs properly
    and invokes recorder. Then i deployed the flex application in a
    server and requested using internet explorer. But this time it does
    not invoke recorder. The error messge it displayed is gi ven below
    SecurityError: Error #2148: SWF file
    http://localhost:8080/flex/bin/DEVM.swf
    cannot access local resource C:\WINNT\system32\sndrec32.exe. Only
    local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local
    resources.
    at global/flash.net::navigateToURL()
    I think it is a security issue of sand boxes. Anyway i tried
    to make the directory where exe file is kept (ie. system32) as a
    trusted location using 'Global security settings panel'. But that
    also did not solve the problem. I think only swf files, not any
    other files, in the trusted local directories can be accessed by
    the remote flex application. Is it right ???
    Anyway i dont wish to keep any swf file under
    'local-with-filesystem' sandbox in client machine.
    Can anybody please help me to resolve this issue please ....

    Hi,
    The problem is I am not able to connect to database (11i/R12) from host machine. I am successfully able to run the application from host machine after putting entry in "hosts" file.What is the error?
    To connect to database I have installed Oracle 9i client on host machine and put the entry in TNSNAMES.ORA generated by 11i/R12, but even doing so I am not able to connect to database.Are you able to tnsping the entry? If not, what is the error?
    Please make sure you also follow the steps in (Note 291897.1 - 11.5.10 New Features : Managed SQL*Net Access from Hosts).
    Is there any way I can connect to database (Installed on VMWARE) from HOST Machine.Post the error you get when you connect to the database remotely as well as the output of tnsping command.

  • Display files/directories of a remote system (RIO) on a host machine (PC)

    Hello,
    Please assume that we are discussing software built on the standard "Labview FPGA Control on Compact RIO" sample project. The host is a standard PC running LV14 Fall edition, the remote system is an sbRIO-9636 having an SD card and a USB HDD attached. The objective is process control. The process being controlled is not relevant to the question.
    This question is about implementing the following functionality: the user operates a host machine running a Labview user interface vi (UI Main.vi) locally on the host machine. Part of this vi must offer the user a built in dialogue (some express vi or another) or custom dialogue (a bespoke vi displayed on demand). The dialogue must display the directories and files of the remote system which runs RT Main.vi and it must allow the user to select a single XML file on the remote system (which contains some generic configuration information). The name of the file will then be passed to the remote system and the remote system will act to open it and populate some configuration variables.
    I am sure that a widely used solution exists for this problem but I've not found the right words to type into my favourite search engine yet to produce the result. I propose the following:
    1) User clicks a "select config file" button on UI Main.vi
    2) The UI Main.vi event loop enqueues a message on the UI Main message queue based on the value change event caused by the button press
    3) The UI Main.vi message loop enqueues a separate message on to the "UI Command Stream" network stream
    4) The RT Main.vi, RT Loop - UI Commands.vi subvi receives the message from the stream and enqueues it on the RT Main.vi message queue
    5) The RT Main.vi message loop performs some functions to read the disk structures, directories and file names from the RT system
    6) The file and directory name data in (5) is converted to a variant and is passed along with a suitable message into the RT Writer network stream
    7) The UI Main.vi periodically reads the RT Writer network stream (it's in the "monitoring loop") and enqueues the received message (from 6) into the UI message queue
    8) The UI Main message queue populated the UI Main front panel with the data
    9) The user selects the directory and file they desire and clicks an "ok" button
    10) The ok button click causes the event loop of UI main to enqueue a message in UI Main.vi's message queue due to the value change on the ok button
    11) The UI Message loop enqueues a message on to the "UI Command Stream" network stream with the selected fully qualified file name of the selected file as the data (stored as variant)
    12) The RT Main.vi, RT Loop - UI Commands.vi subvi receives the message from the stream and enqueues it on the RT Main.vi message queue
    13) The RT Main.vi message loop opens the XML file and populated the appropriate variables with the configuration options therein.
    The user should be able to cancel the dialogue and avoid using a configuration file but I have not delt with that here.
    Now for the questions:
    1) Is this a logical approach?
    2) Are there any suggestions for a better way?
    3) Any links to some pre-written code that will allow me to impliment all or part of this with minimum effort (I'm thinking here of the dialogue box bit rather than the network streams and events bit as those structures are extant and have lots of bespoke code already in them)?
    Thanks,
    James
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Bob,
    Thanks for your input. You're right I have used network streams.
    I implimented more or less what I said in my original post. It works. My main objective was to keep all the config stuff, and data for the particular target on the target's SDCard. On reflection that did make my life much harder than keeping stuff on the host.
    It is more (quite a lot more) involved to keep the config files on the target and send directory info etc. back to the host on demand. If I was to do this again I would probably keep the config files on the host machine and keep them in Dropbox or a Google drive so that if I had more than one host to work from (Work PC, Home PC and Laptop...) I would have all my files with little effort. Still I didn't konw that when I started.
    Thanks,
    James

  • Executing a command using Runtime Class

    How to execute a command on a differnet machine with different ipaddress using Runtime Class
    My code is
    String[] cmd = new String[3];
    cmd[0] = "192.1...../c:/WINNT/system32/cmd.exe" ;
    cmd[1] = "/C" ;
    cmd[2] = args[0];
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    System.out.println("Execing " + cmd[0] + " " + cmd[1]
    + " " + cmd[2]);
    Process proc = rt.exec(cmd);
    // any error???
    int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
    System.out.println("ExitValue: " + exitVal);
    This is not Working

    I have same issue. Actually when I use cmd.exe /c set in java code and if I run the java code in DOS propmt, it retrieves all latest user Environment variable values. But if I run the code in windows batch file, it is not retrieveing the latest user environment values until I reboot my computer, Do you know how to get user environment value with out rebooting machine??????

  • Executing System Commands In Java

    Hi,
         I am not sure if this is a bug or I am just doing this wrong. I have
    written a program to move files into ~/.trash/ . My problem is that this
    works only for files without spaces but for files with spaces it will
    not work. Some of my code is below.
    I have temporarily uploaded the complete file at
    http://www.geocities.com/carmaski/Remove.java
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    String currDir = System.getProperty("user.dir") + "/";
    String trashDir = "\" \"/home/masca/.trash/";
    String commandString = "";
    for (int i = 0; i < args.length; i++ ) {
    File tmpFile = new File(currDir + args);
    if(tmpFile.exists()) {
    commandString = "mv \"" + currDir + args[i] + trashDir
    + args[i] + getTimeTag() + "\"";
    System.out.println("The command would be -- " +
    commandString);
    try {
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(commandString);
    catch (IOException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(-1);
    As an example I tried this with a file that has a space and I get
    the following output.
    The command would be -- mv "/home/masca/WORK/Text File"
    "/home/masca/.trash/Text File_2005.04.17_04hrs:25mins:36secs"
    However the file remains without being moved.
    I cannot understand why the mv command does not work in java. If I
    manually copy this to the command line I can get the file to work. It
    should be noted that this program works perfectly if the file does not
    have a space.
    Regards,
    Rio

    Use File.separator or simply / instead of Windows
    backslashes.
    - SaishI think OP is on a unix machine, and he still needs to escape the spaces. The escape character is, of course, a back-slash.
    Depending on the shell (my experience is with bash), to execute the command mv Test File.txt newTest File.txt, the file names either need to be double-quoted so that the command shell will treat them as a single token (I think that will work), or the spaces need to be escaped (I know that will work). In java, to include a single \ in a literal String, you need to escape the escape character, which is why I think two \\ are needed in the String, so that one will survive to be passed on to the exec command.

  • Executing OS command from sql procedure

    i want to execute an OS command from the procedure, can i do this way? looks like it is not executing the command move....
    declare
    begin
    dbms_output.put_line(' moving...');
    host;
    move c:\file1\test.txt C:\moved
    exit;
    /

    True. But that job is going to run in a separate session, some time after the current transaction commits (depending on the number of jobs queued up to run). So if you need to pass information back from the job, or you want the procedure to handle exceptions thrown by the job, or you want to tie job related failures back to a particular application level event, or you want the rest of your procedure to wait for the operating system command to finish, using the DBMS_SCHEDULER for this sort of thing is going to require a fair amount of additional coordination/ monitoring/ infrastructure code. It's certainly not a Herculean task to write that additional code, and it's reasonable in some situations, but the Java stored procedure approach strikes me as substantially easier to deal with in most cases.
