Executing a report in background, without selection scr  with a variant

Dear All,
Please let me know whether I can execute a report which doesn't has a selection-screen, in background, <b>using a variant</b> ?
Alok.

Hi,
In order to restrict the user to run it only in background , you can as well check for SY-BATCH condition.
The other way is try to remove "execute in foreground" option from the menu and this can be done with the function module .
Do reward points if useful and close the thread if the doubt is cleared
data: begin of int_exc occurs 0,
code like sy-ucomm,
end of int_exc.
data wf_repid .
initialization.
clear int_exc.
int_exc-code = 'ONLI'.
append int_exc.
int_exc-code = 'PRIN'.
append int_exc.
move: sy-repid to wf_repid .
call function 'RS_SET_SELSCREEN_STATUS'
exporting
p_status = '%_00'
p_program = 'wf_repid'
tables
p_exclude = int_exc

  • Restrict 'Executing report in background' from selection screen

I want user to not to select option for executing report in background from Selection Screen of the program.
i.e. 'Execute Program in Background' option in 1st menu bar tab should either be disabled OR if user clicks on it then he should get error message on selection screen itself.
    Thanks,
    Falguni

    Hi Falguni,
Write the code based on function code SJOB in the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN. Write the following code :
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN
    CASE SY-UCOMM.
    WHEN 'SJOB'.
MESSAGE E000 WITH 'You cannot schedule background job'.
    ENDCASE.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Faheem.

  • Execute scripts in your PWD without prepending them with "./"

To execute scripts in your PWD without prepending them with "./", add it to the end of your $PATH:
    $ export PATH="$PATH:."
...and, to make it permanent, create an entry in your .bashrc:
    $ echo "export PATH=\"\$PATH:.\"" >> ~/.bashrc
It won't cure cancer, I just think it's cool

I put all my scripts-in-progress in ~/Workspace/Development/Scripts, and move them to /usr/local/bin when they become "production ready," but every now and then, I create a semi-random folder in which I create a script I only need temporarily; it's nice to be able to quickly create a script and run it with only its name, despite the fact prepending it with "./" only adds 2 more characters.
Arkane wrote:I'd say there still is a risk, because many applications will test for the presence of a helper application simply by trying to call it (for example with -v) and seeing if the command is found. Of course that's arguably bad practice on their part, but it's still pretty common in simpler scripts (I think).
@Arkane, could you give me some examples?

  • To run a report in background in selection screen using a new button

hi friends iam new member to this site
    nice to meet u all
i want to run a report in background using the selection screen of the same report and i want to keep a button in application tool bar.
after enter the values in the selection screen by clicking that button it should move to the screen which we get generally by menu option
    program-->execute in background
and by entering the output device and start condition it should be scheduled in the background.
with job_open,job_submit and job_close we need variants.
for this i tried through bp_jobvariant_schedule and
bp_jobvariant_overview but with this we can run with variants only
but the user wants to enter the values in selection screen and need a button to run background
ok friends i think u understood me
please inform soon ok bye have a nice time

    Hi Jagadish
There are two ways for you to handle the situation.
    1. Train the users to enter the values in selection screen and manually go for backgroung scheduling.
    2. Use At user command and within that basing on the option selection selected, use FM:JOB_OPEN with sy-repid get the job number, submit the program with the values on the selection screen and lastly executing FM: JOB_CLOSE with the job number from JOB_OPEN and SY-REPID.
Note that you have to set 'X' for export parameter something like startimmed while calling FM: JOB_CLOSE for immediate execution. Am not on SAP to give you the exact parameter.
Hope the above info helps you.
    Kind Regards

  • RKAEP000 in the background without selection criteria

    Hello,
    advice, please.
If you execute the KSB1 report in the background, the selection criteria are automatically displayed there with the header data (states within SAP Note 1174588).
Is there any way how to disable this?
We have got a custom program in which we start the KSB1 via SUBMIT RKAEP000 and we do not want to display also the selection criteria within the spool.
Maybe some parameter, which could be used within the submit rkaep000?
    Thanks

    Thanks for reply,
I know you can define an default layout, but where within the layout can you set to not display the selection criteria if running in background?

  • Execute  MCSI report in background : process Output

    Hello Folks,
I am working on Ecc 6.0 . i executed the report MCSI (RMCY9200) in background .
I need to process the output of that Job , But could not find any spool for the same job ...
Then i came to know that the Output of the job has to be seen from the Select Version option with the same Report MCSI(tcode)...
But now i have no idea, as how to process that output through an abap program...
Experts, please throw sum light, as how i can process it through an abap program ?
    Thanks & regards
    Sonal...

    Hi Rajani,
This is because of the printer specification selected while running/scheduling the job.
Please follow the below steps to get it corrected:
    1) Go to SE38, enter the program name and press F8
    2) Enter the selection parameters and from menu click Program -> Execute in Background
    3) Now you need to select *Properties* button at below
    4) Click on Format in the Next window
    5) Select one which format with maximun WIDTH ot the width which works for you.
    6) Save the Settings and run the job
    Hope this helps!

  • Execute a report in background

    Hi All,
I have to create a batch job which will run a report. For that batch job i have to show only few Columns in report. This report also used to run for others batch jobs.
Now i want to know how can i modified my report to know which batch job is executing my report while processing in background.
i.e i can modify the report output based on the folloing condition.
If SY-BATCH is initial and BATCHJOBNAME = 'Test'.
    desired output.
    else.
    endif.

    Hi piyush,
    1. The answer to your question is :
    the FM
    GET_JOB_RUNTIME_INFO
    2. Use this FM inside the code
    of your report.
    3. It will give you various details like.
    EVENTID
    EVENTPARM
    EXTERNAL_PROGRAM_ACTIVE
    JOBCOUNT
    JOBNAME
    STEPCOUNT
    regards,
    amit m.

  • Running a report in background from selection screen input

    Hi,
i had created one report and i want to sechedule it in background based on the condition that if a check box is checked it will run in background otherwise in foreground.

    Hi Raymond,
    you was quicker
Didn't know this solution yet. Great.
(Hint, you have tho check the SY-BATCH also, otherwise the Job wants to schedule itselfs again, tried it right now).
      IF sy-batch IS INITIAL.
IF  sscrfields-ucomm EQ 'ONLI' AND checkbox = 'X'.
          sscrfields-ucomm = 'SJOB'.
        ENDIF.
      ENDIF.

  • Report in background without spool list generation

    Hi everyone!
I want to run a standard report RMMRP000 in backgroun, only I don't want it to generate a spool list. Fiddling with the output options, I was only able to make it generate a summarized list, instead of the mode datailed one that is currently being printed.
    My question is this:
Is it possible, when we create the job, to disable spool list generation, even if the associated report always returns a list?
    Best Regards,
    Luís Andrade.

one thing you could try: wirte a small program which SUBMITS RMMRP000 with the addition EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY. I guess you need to replicate the selection screen of RMMRP000 into your own program, but you could avoid the spool this way.

    Hi saswat mohanty ,
Welcome to SDN.  Ya your program takes lot of time to give the output becauase of more select endselects in  a loop.
You are hitting as  many times as the records in the ITAB.
Instead use "for all entries"   clause for fetching the complete data from a table atonce.
    Example: your itab is there.
    Select *  from  xyz
       into table itab2
       for all entries in itab
    where  field1 eq itab-field1
        and field2 eq itab-field2.
After fetching the data you can populate the final table by looping through ITAB  and itab2.
This is best procedure to reduce the load on database.
Implement this in your program to improve performance.
    REWARD POINTS IF USEFUL.

  • Executing the report in the background

    Hi Frnds,
I want to execute a report in background. After executing the report I want to receive a mail.
I think this is possible through reporting agent.
so i need the steps for this how to do...pls do the need ful..waiting for reply..
    Thanks and Regards
    Rajasekar.

    Hi,
there are two parts of it -
    a. you have some exceptions & you run report in background & are informed if exception occurs, for that kind of scenario look at -
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw33/helpdata/en/d3/a850390aa3b608e10000000a11402f/content.htm
    b. Without exception you can play with WEb template & get informed -- I am not very sure.see this --
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw33/helpdata/en/9e/9f653ade969f4de10000000a114084/content.htm
If you are on BW350, it can be achieved by Information Broadcasting feature. see this -
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a5/359840dfa5a160e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
    Hope it helps

  • Executing Report in Background

    Dear All,
I have a report with more than 400 characters in width. If it is executed in foreground the report is properly displayed but if the report is executed in background, the generated spool only displays upto 255 characters.
Is there a way to execute the report in background and make sure that the spool is generated with required width?
    Regards,
    Anosh

    Hi Sharabh,
I have tried printing it after unchecking the "spool request max 255 characters width" option. Still the generated report does not show the report upto 400 characters.
Can you please suggest some other solution or maybe provide a way to define our own printing format?
    Regards,
    Anosh

  • Change in Normal list when i execute Report in Background.

    Hi all ,
When we execute the Report in background a normal list will be displayed in the spool. In that Normal
list is it possible to shift the columns that are displayed at the last to be displayed at the beginning.
    Regards ,
    Murthy

    Hi,
    Yes you can do that.
You can determine the program is runing in background mode by using system variable SY-BATCH = 'X'.
    If SY-BATCH = 'X'.
Then you can shift the column of internal table.
    Endif.
