Executing command in java.

This is my code, but i don't know why i can't get the output. What i want to do is to capture the output and enter the input automatically rather than typing it manually. I want to handle two things(Reading the output and enter the input) one time with Java. But if i try a command "dir", then i can get the output.
if there is anything wrong, please fix it...
Thanks...
public class fileTest
public static void main( String[] args )
throws Exception
String[] cmd = new String[3];
cmd[0] = "cmd.exe";
cmd[1] = "/c";
cmd[2] = "nslookup";
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
System.out.println("Running command: "+ cmd);
Process proc = rt.exec(cmd);
InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(proc.getInputStream());
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
String line = null;
while ( (line = br.readLine()) != null )
System.out.println( line );

Sorry I don t know what is the solution of your problem but i want to thank you for giving me a good idea..

  • Cannot call the execute command from java code

    Hello,
    I like to add a new user via a java web service.
    Establishing a connection to the OC4J MBean server is no problem. I also can execute the commands 'listAllCommands' and 'help' on the MBean. But if i try to call the execute command, i always get an NoSuchMethodException. Looking at the MBeanInfos 'execute' is listed there as an operation.
    Can anyone explain this to me?

    Hi,
    I basically used the code described at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/web.1013/b28952/mbeans.htm#CIHFDJBJ to connect to the MBeanServer.
    To invoke 'execute' i used
    MBeanServerConnection con= jmxCon.getMBeanServerConnection();
    con.invoke(new ObjectName(MBEAN_NAME), "execute", new Object[] { COMMAND }, new String[] {});
    where MBEAN_NAME is the ObjectName of the CommandService MBean and COMMAND is a String like "identity add ..."

  • Execute Command fron Java Program

    Hi All,
    I am trying to execute a command from Java Application, but iam not getting any result. My problem is:-
    1- Open a terminal.
    2- execute command.
    The same is working fine in windows , the step for windows are:-
    1- execute cmd.exe
    2- go to prompt
    3- execute command.
    How to do it for Solaris 10 ??? Any cmd.exe equivalent for solaris terminal???

    This is done in the exact same way. You open a terminal (depending on your gui its called "console" or "this computer" (CDE), and "Gnome console" (iirc) in the Java desktop) and then you're home free. "javac", "java", etc. should all be in your search path.
    If not look in /usr/java.

    I tried to run the code using -Duser.language=es -Duser.region=ES -Dfile.encoding=Cp850, but this did nt help. I could see the outputs properly in command prompt,

    but it deletes the infected file.
    and running the program second time (after deletion of infected file), it executed fine.

  • Executeing Command Line Java

    Greetings, I need to execute the following command line in
    java (and get the results via CF):
    java -cp
    /Volumes/htdocs/encrypt/me/;../bcprov-jdk14-133.jar;.;
    com.me.crypt.Do test
    I have tried to do this with cfexecute but I cant seem to use
    the arguments attribute correctly. I have even tried this but all I
    ever get back is a blank string:
    <cfexecute name="java" arguments="-version" timeout="100"
    variable="MyObj" />
    Im also not sure how to create a object with
    the"../bcprov-jdk14-133.jar" in there. Normally I would just put
    the classes in the classpath and create a object but the jar is
    throwing things off. Its not my java class and Im not really at
    liberty to change it.

    When you provide the name of the class, it has to include its full package name (your's doesn't have a package) and the parent directory of the root of the package has to be on the claspath. In your case: java -cp Java Simple It works in the first case because if there's no classpath specified and no env var set, then the classpath is assumed to be the current directory.

  • Executing shell commands from Java.

    I want to execute shell commands in Java using the Runtime.exec( String ) method.
    The method works fine under Linux OS, but under Windows '98 the method didn't work at all!
    For example the following call: Runtime.exec( "dir" ) throws an exception showing that the command was not completed. If I replace dir with ls under Linux all is good. What is the problem with the Microsoft Windows '98 ? Is there any solution at my problem ?!
    thx in advance!

    hey JSarmis,
    You can help me... "ls" doesn't work for me on linux.. using Runtime.exec, some commands work, others don't... you may hold the key to what i need? How did u get "ls" to work?

  • How to execute dos command in Java program?

    In Perl, it has System(command) to call dos command.
    Does java have this thing?
    or any other way to execute dos command in java program?
    Because i must call javacto compile a file when the user inputed a java file name.

    Look in the Runtime class, it is implemented using the Singleton design pattern so you have to use the static method getRuntime to get its only instance, on that instance you can invoke methods like
    exec(String command) that will execute that command in a dos shell.

    i know i should use JNI. because i have to use C lib.
    but i have already use JNI to wrapper the original code the cpp code and java code is :
    //: appendixb:UseObjImpl.cpp
    //# Tested with VC++ & BC++. Include path must
    //# be adjusted to find the JNI headers. See
    //# the makefile for this chapter (in the
    //# downloadable source code) for an example.
    #include <jni.h>
    #include <stdlib.h>
    extern "C" JNIEXPORT void JNICALL
    Java_UseObjects_changeObject(
    JNIEnv* env, jobject, jobject obj) {
    jclass cls = env->GetObjectClass(obj);
    jfieldID fid = env->GetFieldID(
    cls, "aValue", "I");
    jmethodID mid = env->GetMethodID(
    cls, "divByTwo", "()V");
    int value = env->GetIntField(obj, fid);
    printf("Native: %d\n", value);
    env->SetIntField(obj, fid, 6);
    env->CallVoidMethod(obj, mid);
    value = env->GetIntField(obj, fid);
    system("preprocess -path sha.c");
    printf("Native: %d\n", value);
    } ///:~

    class MyJavaClass {

    public class UseObjects {
    private native void
    changeObject(MyJavaClass obj);
    static {
    // System.loadLibrary("UseObjImpl");

    UseObjects app = new UseObjects();

  • Execute NMAP command in java

    Hi all
    i would like to execute a NMAP command from java. So i wrote the following method:
    public void execute(){
    try {
    Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
    String command = new String("nmap -sU -p 161-162 "+this.network+" -oX /home/hippie/blaTEST.txt");
    System.out.println("command: "+command);
    Process p = r.exec(command);
    System.out.println("executed nmap");
    catch (Exception ex) {
    System.out.println(ex);
    Now i have the problem that i have to be root user in linux to execute this command. So it doesn't work the way i implemented it
    Could someone explain me how i have to implement it?
    I think the same problem could occur in Windows if i'm not Admin, is this right?
    Thanks Angela

  • Help with executing windows command in java

    hi, i am trying to execute dos command in java. currently i am trying simply to create a folder in the current directory.
    here is the code snippet:
    try {
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("md myFolder");
    } catch (IOException io) {
    io.printStackTrace();
    i have also tried using "mkdir" instead of "md". but my code just throws an exception that says:
    java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: md myFolder error=2
    what have I done wrong? thanks in advance

    try {
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c
    mkdir myFolder");
    catch (IOException io) {
    io.printStackTrace();hey! that code worked out perfectly. so "cmd" is needed to run dos commands? i searched through the net, but most of the examples that i were able to find did not include "cmd".
    if it wouldn't be too much trouble, what is the option "/c" for?
    i would also like to add that "mkdir" also works. The problem was the missing "cmd /c". Thanks guys for your help! I really appreciate it.
