Executing script file

Hi,
I am trying to execute script file through sql plus.
My script contains list of all triggers.
on sql plompt when I execute the file like
sql> @d:\triggers.sql
It return some number as
4223
when I hit enter, it increments by 1 (4224) and thus doesn't even allow me to exit.
I am not very clear what this output means. i have tried to take output to text file by spooling. But only the blank file got created.
what is exactly happening?

Hi,
It sounds like there's an error in triggers.sql.
For example, that output could be cause by triggers.sql creating a stored procedure or package that did not end with a /. SQL*Plus will think everything you enter is part of that procedure or package.
Make sure triggers.sql has a / (on a line by itself) after the final END of each CREATE TRIGGER (or similar object) command.
If you still have problems, then make a much smaller version of triggers.sql that causes a similar error, and post it.

  • Applescript: Problem Using Load Script File. Please Help :-!

    My setup: file 1 is a script object and file 2 is the script that uses the script object in file 1. This seems straightforward, but I'm getting runtime errors when tryig to use the script object, whether looking at its properties or calling its handlers. The whole thing just doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?
    Question 1: Is the 'load script' statement correct in file 2? It took forever and looking at many examples to not get an error in that statement. I don't understand why the path string is 'as alias'.
    Question 2:  When loading a script and specifying its path, is there a way to start with the current path (of the executing script file). All the scripts are stored together, but so far, I've only seen commands for absolute paths or user or desktop, etc. how can I get the path of the currently running script?
    Question 3: Is the cURL syntax ok? I can't even get the script to run to that line, so I don't know if it will even execute.
    Thanks a million, in advance.
    Cheers,
    Mark
    File 1: this is the script library file
    script AR_Redeye

              property outside_lights_ON : "http://..."
              property outside_lights_OFF : "http://..."
              on do_command(command_url)

                        set command_status to (do shell script "/usr/bin/curl -s -S  " & command_url) as string
              -- the url (when opened in a web browser) displays 'success' or 'fail'

    set arRedeye to load script (("Macintosh HD:Users:...:AR Redeye Class.scptd") as alias)

    If I may indulge you again, I've cleaned up the scripts according to your advice and made progress, but I am still receiving the following errors:
    Applescript Error:
    «script» doesn’t understand the do_command message.  (see below for where it occurs)
    I also get an error for referencing a property of the script object.
    Might you provide some insight as to why this is occurring?
    Still a little confused.

    iCal failing to run applescripts: The 'Open' button does not change to 'Run', and the script file is opened but not executed.

    Calendar (not called iCal anymore) does not include that capability any longer, apparently.  What you have to do now is go to Automator and create a Calendar Alert action.  You can add a Run AppleScript object to the action and paste in your script there, then when you save it, it will become available as a choice in the alert menu in Calendar.

  • Executing mysql script file in java

    Hello,
    I am working on a research project that involves the creation of anywhere from 50 to 200 MySQL databases at a time. So far I am able to execute CREATE DATABASE commands successfully using the Statement.execute() command.
    So onto my problem.....
    I have the script files needed to create the tables for each database, but I cannot figure out how to run them through java. I am trying to execute a SOURCE /file_location/ statement, but I am getting "you have an error in your mysql syntax....".
    Does anyone know if there is a way to execute a script file from java?

    You mean to say that you have websphear application server (WAS) installed on Windows NT machine. Can you please share how you have deployed your application on WAS. The problem might be just because of configuration. What error/exception you are getting when you run application in WAS.

  • C# application to execute both oracle and sql server script files.

    Hi All,
    I am suppose to develop an application using c# which can execute oracle script files as well as sql server script files based on some user's choice.
    Both the script files(oracle/sql server) contains scripts to create tables, create views and create functions.
    What is the best way to do this and which existing c# functions should is use.
    Thanks in advance.

    I am suppose to develop an application using c# which can execute oracle script files as well as sql server script files based on some user's choice.
    You can use SQL Plus for Oracle. You can have a C# program that issues commands  for  scripts for table, views, triggers  creation and the whole 10 yards to SQL Plus,
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14357/qstart.htm
    https://www.google.com/#q=sql+plus
    I started writing a program to use SQL Plus to run the scripts, but cI ame to the conclusion that it was a waste of my time.
    A tool called OSM, an Oracle, tool gives a list of script files that need to be run do to a change in a script file based on file timestamp. You can copy the list doing a copy/past operation and drop it into SQL Plus's Command line, and SQL Plus runs the
    scripts.
    For MS SQL Server, you have this, which you can run from a C# program too.
    http://www.webfactory-world.de/wfknowledgebase/wfknowledgebase_wf3.3/Content/AdditionalWindowsSettings/Tutorials/UpdatingSQLDBFromCommandLine.htm
    I would consider using the above from a C# program a waste of time too.
    I look at it this way. If the user doesn't have database admin experience and know how to use DB admin tools, then they have no business doing anything with a database - period.
    BTW, the Invoke statement in VB or C# will run SQL Plus or SQL Server command line tool.

  • Execute Unix script file using PL/SQL.

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to execute a PL/SQL procedure which call the Unix(AIX) OS script file.
    My version of Oracle is 7.3.
    Thanks.

    As Justin says, Java stored procedures is one way
    else if you dont know Java and are familiar with C,
    then you can create external routines in C
    and use them in procedure.
    Works with 8i and above( I believe)

  • [CS5] InDesign Server holding onto script file after being executed?

    Hello,
    I've run into a scenario which we have a script file dynamically created, saved to disk, then sent to InDesign Server to be executed. The code that tells InDesign Server to execute the script will delete that script file after it's finished executing. This works MOST of the time. However, sometimes, we get IO Execeptions stating that the file cannot be deleted because it is still in use. It would appear that InDesign Server is possibly holding onto the script files maybe even for just a millisecond after it's finished executing.
    Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I'm looking for possible things to check (maybe it's not even ID Server that is the problem). Or maybe there is some option within ID Server when executing scripts that would allow ID Server to remove the file instead of our .NET code?
    Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks!
    -lhanneman

    UPDATE:
    It appears that this problem is related to IDS executing the script. I've narrowed the problem down by taking the script execution completely out of the equation. If my code saves the script to disk and attempts to delete it right after - it works every time. I'm also able to, within our .NET code, save the script to disk, open the file up, read a line out, close it, and then immediately delete it. ONLY when ID Server executes that script between writing the file and deleting the file do we have problems.
    Has anyone ever encountered anything like this? It seems to be directly related to ID Server holding onto the file for too long.
    Again, many thanks in advance for any help!

  • How to execute a .SQL script file?

    Hi
    I'm sure this question has been answered already, however I was unable to find an answer using the search tool.
    Using c# I'd like to run a .sql file. The sql file contains multiple sql statements, some of which are broken over multiple lines. I tried reading in the file and tried executing the file using ODP.NET ... however I don't think ExecuteNonQuery is really designed to do this.
    So I tried using sqlplus via spawning a process ... however unless I spawned the process with UseShellExecute set to true sqlplus would hang and never exit. Here's the code that DOESN'T WORK.
    Process p = new Process();
    p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
    p.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
    p.StartInfo.FileName = "sqlplus";
    p.StartInfo.Arguments = string.Format("xx/xx@{0} @{1}", in_database, s);
    p.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
    bool started = p.Start();
    p.WaitForExit();
    WaitForExit never returns .... Unless I set UseShellExecute to true. A side effect of UseShellExecute is that you can no capture the redirected output.
    This must be such a common thing to do, I'm hoping someone has a solution to this.
    Thanks
    Rich

    If by "SQL script" you mean run a program that resides outside the database (a file of the format whatever.sql) then the answer is with difficulty. We can use extproc calls to run c libraries or embedded java to execute host-style commands but it's a lot of pfaffing about.
    The easiest solution is to bring the SQL commands into the database as a stored procedure. If you still need to be able to run the script externally then rewrite that to call the same stored procedure. However, if the .SQL file includes OS calls then you will have to choose either Java or extproc, depending on what it is the script actuually does. If you want more focused advice you'll need to give us details.

  • Stop executing the rest of the script files

    Hi
    I am having a collection of scipt files(drop table , create table , create sequesnce,create procedure etc .) . Now , if any of the script fails , I want to stop executing the rest of script files as well as want to store the error(sqlcode , sqlerrm) in a table . To achieve this , what i guess is that ,probably , I have to write a schema level trigger . Any idea about how to do that ?
    Thanks

    Well
    I didn't get your "whenever sqlerror exit;" line .
    Can you be more explicit please ? Also , my requirement
    has been changed . I've posted that also .
    Actually , I want to store the error code(sqlcode) and
    error messege(sqlerrm) into a table when any effort
    to create database object fails.
    How can i do that (using a trigger) ?

    error while executing script for sharepoint online (office 365) - the remote server returned an error: (503) server unavailable.
    I am creating many site collections reading records from sharepoint list using powershell in sharepoint online tenant (office 365).
    Few site collections are created and then getting above error so this error record will be skipped then few succeeding record processed then again getting error.

    success
    success
    success
    Error
    success
    success

  • Executing batch file from Java stored procedure hang

    Dears,
    I'm using the following code to execute batch file from Java Stored procedure, which is working fine from Java IDE JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
    public static String runFile(String drive)
    String result = "";
    String content = "echo off\n" + "vol " + drive + ": | find /i \"Serial Number is\"";
    try {
    File directory = new File(drive + ":");
    File file = File.createTempFile("bb1", ".bat", directory);
    file.deleteOnExit();
    FileWriter fw = new java.io.FileWriter(file);
    fw.write(content);
    fw.close();
    // The next line is the command causing the problem
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c " + file.getPath());
    BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    String line;
    while ((line = input.readLine()) != null)
    result += line;
    input.close();
    file.delete();
    result = result.substring( result.lastIndexOf( ' ' )).trim();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    result = e.getClass().getName() + " : " + e.getMessage();
    return result;
    The above code is used in getting the volume of a drive on windows, something like "80EC-C230"
    I gave the SYSTEM schema the required privilege to execute the code.
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'java.io.FilePermission', '<<ALL FILES>>', 'read ,write, execute, delete');
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'writeFileDescriptor', '');
    EXEC DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission('SYSTEM', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'readFileDescriptor', '');
    GRANT JAVAUSERPRIV TO SYSTEM;
    I have used the following to load the class in Oracle 9ir2 DB:
    loadjava -u [system/******@orcl|mailto:system/******@orcl] -v -resolve C:\Server\src\net\dev\Util.java
    CREATE FUNCTION A1(drive IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 AS LANGUAGE JAVA NAME 'net.dev.Util.a1(java.lang.String) return java.lang.String';
    variable serial1 varchar2(1000);
    call A1( 'C' ) into :serial1;
    The problem that it hangs when I execute the call to the function (I have indicated the line causing the problem in a comment in the code).
    I have seen similar problems on other forums, but no solution posted
    [http://oracle.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/oracle-jdeveloper-l/run-an-exe-file-using-oracle-database-trigger-1567662]
    I have posted this in JDeveloper forum ([t-853821]) but suggested to post for forum in DB.
    Can anyne help?

    Dear Peter,
    You are totally right, I got this as mistake copy paste. I'm just having a Java utility for running external files outside Oracle DB, this is the method runFile()
    I'm passing it the content of script and names of file to be created on the fly and executed then deleted, sorry for the mistake in creating caller function.
    The main point, how I claim that the line in code where creating external process is the problem. I have tried the code with commenting this line and it was working ok, I made this to make sure of the permission required that I need to give to the schema passing security permission problems.
    The function script is running perfect if I'm executing vbs script outside Oracle using something like "cscript //NoLogo aaa1.vbs", but when I use the command line the call just never returns to me "cmd.exe /c bb1.bat".
    where content of bb1.bat as follows:
    echo off
    vol C: | find /i "Serial Number is"
    The above batch file just get the serial number of hard drive assigned when windows formatted HD.
    Same code runs outside Oracle just fine, but inside Oracle doesn't return if I exectued the following:
    variable serial1 varchar2(1000);
    call A1( 'C' ) into :serial1;
    Never returns
    Thanks for tracing teh issue to that details ;) hope you coul help.

  • Security restriction while executing Flash file

    Hi,
    I am a beginer with Flash and I developed some sample Flash
    files(swf) using Flash MX 2004. The files were able to run with IE
    with out any issue on my XP machine which is having IE 6. The same
    files when I tried with IE 7 on Windows Vista, it is not letting me
    to run initially. It says ".... IE has restricted this web page
    from running scripts or Activex controlls that could access your
    computer....". Though I can right click and click 'Allow Blocked
    Content' to execute the file, I am wondering whether I can do some
    setting on the file itself to make it trusted or something like
    that. I can also change the IE settings not to restrict the file.
    But I think it won't be a general solution.
    I wanted embedd this flah file on an html page and I want to
    make sure that the file will execute with out the security warning
    or change in the IE settings.
    Most of the internet sites that I used access has flash
    content and my IE does not used to show any warning. How can I
    achieve the same with my flash file?
    Thanks in advance
    Seb

    If you embed the swf in the HTML it will not display that
    warning. The warning is something that IE displays when you open
    the SWF directly.

  • Oracle error while executing VBscript file

    I have a Connection.vbs file with following contents:
    Dim strCon
    strCon = "Driver={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle}; " & _
    "CONNECTSTRING=(DESCRIPTION=" & _
    "(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)" & _
    "(HOST= TRISHUL)(PORT=1525))" & _
    "(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=BTFLVAS))); uid=odb;pwd=odb;"
    Dim ocon1:set ocon1=CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    ocon1.open strCon
    Getting this error as a pop up message while executing this file :
    Script: D:\Connection.vbs
    Line: 10
    Char: 1
    Error: [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]
    Code: 80004005
    Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
    Please help!
    Shruti

    You are using an ODBC driver to connect to Oracle. The error you get is not an Oracle server error. (so ignore the silly request for an alert log)
    The error is from your client Oracle driver. It gets a TNS connection string (or alias) from the ODBC driver. This tells it how to establish a network connection to the Oracle Listener on the Oracle server platform.
    The Oracle driver then runs into a problem and says:
    12560, 00000, "TNS:protocol adapter error"
    // *Cause: A generic protocol adapter error occurred.
    // *Action: Check addresses used for proper protocol specification. Before
    // reporting this error, look at the error stack and check for lower level
    // transport errors. For further details, turn on tracing and reexecute the
    // operation. Turn off tracing when the operation is complete.
    Basic terms - your Oracle client driver ran into a network error when attempting to make the requested connection.
    This could be caused by a number of problems on your PC. Suggest you first check your TNS connection string to make sure it is valid. You can use tnsping (Oracle util in %ORACLE_HOME%\bin), e.g.
    C:\> tnsping "DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= TRISHUL)(PORT=1525))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=BTFLVAS)))"
    See if this works.
