Executing the SQL statement is not allowed - Error

I am getting "Executing the SQL statement is not allowed" for an INSERT cfquery that I'm running.  I checked the usual suspects:
- DSN allows INSERT
- I've seen reports online where certain field names or values are considered key words, so for protection CF blocks the query in this way (it would be nice if there was a different error message when it gets blocked this way vs. the DSN doesn't allow INSERT error message).  The field names and values were all benign strings, so it didn't seem like that.
I took the same string for the query and ran it on another page and it ran fine (same DSN, too).

SOLVED: I decided to enter this in here, just to get it into web searches for others since I couldn't find anything.
- I was calling a function for one of the values in the query:  get_db_status_code("initialize")  Apparently CF parses the query to see if it's allowed BEFORE it runs the CFML in it, so something in that function name, or the parameter "initialize" was a key word that CF doesn't allow.  I moved the function call outside of the query and loaded a temp variable for use in the query and it then worked.

  • The SQL statement is not valid - when importing data from SQL Server using a query

    Hi there,
    I am trying to import data from SQL to Power Pivot using a SQL query like below:
    SELECT Score.FieldCount, Score.Record.GetAt(0), Score.Record.GetAt(1),  Score.Record.GetAt(2),  Score.Record.GetAt(3),  Score.Record.GetAt(4)
    FROM
    SELECT * FROM dbo.CLR1(
    dbo.CLR2('c:\FILES\Test.xml'),
    'SELECT * FROM [dbo].[CXCustomer_Small]') Input
    ) Score
    And when I tried to validate it, it returns
    The SQL statement is not valid. A column name cannot be blank.
    I ran the above SQL statement in Management Studio and it works without problem. Any idea?
    Thanks!

  • Execute the sql statement stored in table

    friends i m in complication that, how can i execute sql statement which is stored in database table.
    how can i fetch that particular statement from table and make it execute!!!
    Thanks in advance

    I think we should stop at this point and have a little think.
    My understanding is that your plan is to do the following
    -Execute a Dynamic SQL statement which is constructed from values in several columns in a table (Bad idea to begin with)
    -The result of the execution is then loaded into PL/SQL.....not sure how you are handling different column lists but I'll assume you are not having to convert every column value to a VARCHAR2
    -The values returned are then used in an INSERT statement
    So basically your goal here is to take some data from one table and insert it into another table by moving data from SQL to PL/SQL then back to SQL in an elaborate, dynamic way. This is a costly waste of resources and will not scale (this is before we get to the problem of having to read the SQL statement from a table in the first place)
    I would recommend looking the INSERT SELECT statement here: http://psoug.org/reference/insert.html
    This will get the job done in one go. If you really do need it to be dynamic (which you don't, trust me) then you can still store this statement in your "dynamic SQL" table and execute it using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE although I can say for sure that you're going to run into more problems down the line with this architecture, it won't scale very well, and you'll probably waste at least *1* day of your time every week trying to fix a bug caused by the removal of a table, change to a column name etc.......
    However if you believe that storing SQL in a table is the best solution to your problem then go ahead.....at least when you find out that it isn't you'll have learned a valuable lesson.

  • BIDS 2008 DataFlow viewer not showing even though the sql statement returns data

    Have a dataflow and trying to see why no rows are being written to the destination.  I popped a viewer on the connection, but it doesnt show up when I run.  What can I check?
    The DataFlow source runs a sql statement and it runs fine and returns a result.

    Why would that be if I can execute the sql statement that is being used in the OLEDB Source, and I get a result, yet the destination gets no rows afterwards.  Even executing the Dataflow task by itself, no rows are written.
    I do have a script task that modifies the connection before the dataflow, but this was working fine yesterday :)
    Even so, if there was a problem with the connection, I would get an error.  There no no errors, it just sees no rows and the dataviewer is never displayed.
    What the heck can I check?

  • Executing multiple SQL statements fails using ODBC

    Executing multiple SQL statements will fail with error 'ORA-00911 invalid character' when connecting to an Oracle database using ODBC driver version 8.01.07.00.
    When I use either my application or the Oracle ODBC Test client utility connecting using ODBC driver version 8.01.07.00 I can only get a single CALL statement (as shown below) to execute:
    CALL BHInsert (TO_DATE('2003.07.23 10:04:28','YYYY.MM.DD HH24:MI:SS'),'BATCH_ID','1:CLS_FRENCHVANILLA-1','
    ','Event File
    Name','\\KILLIANS\BATCHCTL\SampleDemo1\JOURNALS\1.evt','','AREA1','','','','','','1','','','','','',' ','');
    When I try to execute the following string with multiple CALL statements (as shown below) it fails with the following error being returned - ORA-00911: invalid character
    CALL BHInsert (TO_DATE('2003.07.23 10:04:28','YYYY.MM.DD HH24:MI:SS'),'BATCH_ID','1:CLS_FRENCHVANILLA-1','

    Shepard','','AREA1',' ',' ','','','','1','','','','','',' ','');
    I've tried adding a line feed in addition to the space at the end of each call but that doesn't seem to help. Also have tried unsuccessfully to change the seperator used between each call using various valid continuation characters.
    Executing multiple CALL statements from within Oracle's SQL Worksheet connecting as the same user and password, as my application executes successfully. However when I try this from within the Oracle ODBC test client, it fails with the same ORA-00911 error that I'm seeing in my application.
    I'm currently trying the more recent ODBC drivers, however any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Can you take the begin ... end block and run it using SQL*Plus?
    I can't think of any documentation that would specifically answer this question. I'm sure if you read & absorbed the ODBC Programmers Reference (2000+ pages) you'd be able to find out, but I don't know of a quick way to find out.
    You can enable SQL*Net tracing. There are a fair number of options for enabling this tracing-- http://tahiti.oracle.com has all the Oracle manuals online, which should give you enough info to configure exactly what you want.
    I would suggest, however, that you look into more performant/ scalable alternatives rather than going too far down this path. A block with lots of SQL statements with literals isn't going to make your database happy even if you get it to work.

  • Patterns to execute a SQL Statement from a Droplet (select)

    Hi,
    I need to perform a query on a table, Example: select * from ARF_QUERY "the database used is Oracle. I would like to know if the atg has some
    standard method to perform this database connection and execute the SQL statement from a Droplet (select).
    Thank.

    I dont think there is any generic droplet to run a select query directly against a table.
    However, there are various lookup droplets available that run on the repositories.
    Like /atg/targeting/RepositoryLookup droplet. you can run it for specific id or for all.
    You might want to have a look at it in documentation of how exactly to use it.
    Thanks

    I have created a execut sql task -

    Resultset=resultname=0 and variablename=empidvar
    I have added data flow task of ole db type and I put this sql statement under sql command - exec emp_sp @empidvar=?
    I am getting an error.

    shouldnt setting be Result
    Set=Full Resultset as your query returns a resultset? also i think variable to be mapped should be of object type.
    Then for data flow task also you need to put it inside a ForEachLoop based on ADO.NET recordset and map your earlier variable inside it so as to iterate for every value the sql task returns.
    Also if using SP in oledb source make sure you read this

  • The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]:

    Hello all together,
    actually I try to implement an user interface for using BRTools from a J2EE Application.
    I created a datasource-alias "BRTOOLS" using netweaver administrator.
    inside the implementation i execute the following code:
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/BRTOOLS");
    Connection con = ds.getConnection();
    String query = "select * from SDBAH;";
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    try {
       ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
    As the result I get the following message:
    The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:15 - the table or view >>SDBAH<< does not exist.
    Using SQLplus or dbconsole I can see and use the table SDBAH. The table scheme is "SAPSR3DB"which is the standard scheme for J2EE.
    If I try:
    select * from SAPSR3DB.SDBAH;
    I get the same result.
    What is wrong in my constellation?
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Greetings Stephan

    Dear Yordan,
    yes I did a restart of the whole system.
    If I do a wrong lookup:
    e.g:
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/BRToolsFailure");
    where Alias  "BRToolsFailure" does not exist, I get
    Object not found in lookup of BRToolsFailure.
    So I think that the Alias of the default data source is right and visible.
    Next try:
    I use an already existing alias "ADS" in my code and get the same message:
    The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:15 - the table or view >>SDBAH<< does not exist.
    If I extend the tablename with the scheme-name "SAPSR3DB" I get the following:
    The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SAPSR3DB"."SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:24 - the table or view >>SDBAH<< does not exist
    When I use SQLPLUS SAPSR3DB/password and call:
    select * from SDBAH;
    I get a result like expected.
    Thanks a lot,
    Stephan

  • The SQL query is not executing

    Hi
    I have the following situation: In a project we designed our reports calling a stored procedure the exits in a MS SQL Server 200 database. The Stored Procedures works fine and when they are used in the report everything works perfectly.
    The reports are being made with CR DEsigner 11, when the designer ends them, ha pass them to me and we put them in our java web application. I open them and even preview them since the Crystal Reprots Perspective of Eclipse and I can see the data, so everything to this point is OK.
    The problem comes when I change of connection, I'm trying to connect every report to the same host and database, and when the reprot is displayed in the browser there is no data. I profile the SQL commands that are executed when the report is requested and I found that the reprot is not executing the stored procedure.
    I guess because i'm connectring the report to the same database and host that was used when the report is created and i'm also passing exactly the same parameters of the stored procedure, then report thinks that it doesn't have executing again becuase it will be the same information.
    SO, i wonder if there is a way to request to the report to execute the sql query every time i have to display it.
    thanks for any help.

    What happens when you try to view the report using a simple viewer.jsp?without changing the connection?
    2009-05-25 14:06:09,250 ERROR com.businessobjects.reports.sdk.JRCCommunicationAdapter -  detected an exception: Error de conexión: [SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Error establishing socket.
    But the database server is ok, so i think the rpt needs more information to be connect to the database.
    Also what happens if you dont use the data bean and give everything there only?
    The same, the rpt is not executing the stored procedure.
    Did anything change on the RDBMS side? Additional packages, changes to the schema, ownership, etc?
    No, the server is ok and the database is ok.
    If you configure Log4J logging to DEBUG, you should see the database invokes from the Crystal Java engine, specifically the queries sent and the number of rowsets returned. Do you notice any errors?
    I have a problem here with log4j. In my project i'm using spring and with the help of spring i configure log4j, basically with spring is easier to configure log4j.
    I'm telling you this because i have log4j working but when my application reaches the code to change the connection to the rerport, log4j dies and stop sending any message to the stdout or to a log file. I haven't since this behavior in any other app o library. So i want to guess i have something wrong with my log4j or maybe with log4j+spring.
    So, i remove all the code of spring referring to log4j, but the problem with log4j wasn't solved.
    What i will try now is to remove spring from the project.
    This is my log4j.properties:
    log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, stdout
    log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
    log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
    log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=%d %p [%c] - %m%n

    From the documentation I understand that I need to create a session, is the session only necessary to access secured components since this
    particular method “ProfileServices.loginUser “ has been declared as not secure in restSecurityConfiguration.xml
    Also, are there two different ways in which I can log in
    1.       Using RestSession.createSession providing the username and password.
    2.       Or using ProfileServices.loginUser or ProfileFormHandler
      Can someone please clarify

    If you are invoking the REST web-service from a Java client then you can create a RestSession object using the createSession method. But in your case you seem to be invoking it with a HTTP request which by default would be treated as a GET request by ATG's REST implementation. Therefore being a GET, it would try to fetch a property "loginUser" from /atg/userprofiling/ProfileServices component (based on your URL) which would always fail.
    To invoke loginUser() method of ProfileServices with your passed argument you need to tell ATG's REST system to treat your incoming request not as GET but as a POST request which you can do using  atg-rest-http-method control parameter in your request like this
    http:localhost:8080/rest/bean/atg/userprofiling/ProfileServices/loginUser?arg1=[email protected]&arg2=Password&atg-rest-http-method=POST
    It should work this way provided your restSecurityConfiguration.xml is proper.

  • The update operation is not allowed in the current state of the request

    When users have logged a request through the service manager 2012 portal and they go back in to add user input they sometimes receive a message that says " The update operation is not allowed in the current state of the request." The state of the
    request has not changed it is still Active and has not breached its service level .
    I can't seem to find any information about this error and don't know how to troubleshoot it. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

    ok, so they're adding user comments after creating the service request. looks like this:
    the first thing to check is that the user is added to the default, un-scoped "End User" security role, or the custom end user security role they are added to has a scope that includes all work items. The "user input" field adds a user comment related
    to the SR, so the ability to create user comments is required to use this field.

  • Toplink generate the SQL statement correctly but it does not return any row

    Hi
    I faced an strange problem when using Toplink as JPA provider. Following snippet shows how I create and execute a query using Toplink JPA:
    q = em.createQuery("SELECT B FROM Branch B WHERE B.street LIKE :street");
    q.setParameter("street", "'%a%'");
       List<Branch> l = q.getResultList();
      System.out.println("List Size: " + l.size());The SQL statement resulted by this query is as follow (according to the generated log file)
    SELECT ID, STREET FROM BRANCH WHERE (STREET LIKE CAST (? AS VARCHAR(32672) ))
      bind => [%a%]Problem is that List size is always 0, independent of what I provide as parameter. I tried and executed the generated SQL statement in the SQL manager and I got some tens of record as the result. The SQL statement i tested in the SQL manager is like:
    SELECT ID, STREET FROM BRANCH WHERE (STREET LIKE CAST ('%a%' AS VARCHAR(32672) ))Can someone please let me know what I am missing and how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thank you for reply.
    All data are stored in lower case so, the case sensitivity is not a problem. I am wondering how the generated query works fine when I execute it in the sql manager but it return no result when it is executed by the JPA.
