In my project i used event structure it working fine.
Now i want to exit(close) the application when i press EXIT button on the front panel.
Here i attached my project give an idea.

We have an application designed for an old oracle version which issues some sql which is no more supported in todays database version.
We want to use the application unchanged with a new database server.
Old Server Version: 7.3.4 (still in production...)
New Server Version: 10.2 or 11.2
The application issues an
ALTER SESSION SET OPTIMIZER_GOAL = FIRST_ROWS ;
which results in ORA-01986 and the application dies.
We would like to hide the error 01986 from the application using a trigger:

Does the client read the error stack and does it die after reading an error from the stack?The client just checks the error code. On error it terminates.

Accessing the Logon User Exit from the Internet using an ITS Service
I can access the Logon User Exit (EXIT_SAPLSUSF_001) from R/3, but not from the Web using an ITS service. What am I missing in order to access the Logon User Exit from the Web. The ITS service was created from an ABAP screen program.

david yeeThe SAPGui logon exit is called after successfull authentication has been completed and after a SAPGui session has been attached.
If you logon via RFC, WebGui, ICM or the Wgate then this exit does not trigger.
What are you wanting to add to your code after the logon ?
An solution I have used is to create a wrapper RFC for a BAPI and create a webservice for the wrapper. Before calling the BAPI you can do whatever you want to from a security perspective.
But for that you need to have an appropriate BAPI...
Please explain what you want to do and what you would have wanted in the exit. Often there is a better way.

Firing events from a Menu using Event Structure - all in the same Event Window?
I have an ap where I have three menus, and several selections from
those three menus. I'm trying to keep everything within the Event
Structure, but it seems that ALL of the events fired from the Menu must
be contained within one "frame" of the Event Structure, that being the
Menu Selection (user) Event. In other words, if I have 16 events that
can be fired from the menu, do I have to put them ALL in this one event
frame?
I can't seem to use a T/F indicator within the Menu Selection (user)
Event to access another Event. For example, within the Menu Selection
(user) Event, I placed a boolean named X and can turn it on with a menu
selection. Now, make a new Event Structure to look for X Value Change -
doesn't work.

RichardI use one event, Menu Selection (user). to trap all of my menu events. Use Item Path and / or Item Tag to figure out what menu item was selected then branch code based on selection. Wtih Booleans and menus you need to update the state of the boolean on the menu by setting it True or False. It doesn't automatically toggle like you would expect.

Can I use Event structures in a subVI?
Hi,
I have a subVI (ProvaEv1.vi) that use an event structure inside. But when I use it in a VI (ProvaVI.vi) the event structure in the subVI doesn't catch the events.
I tried to insert the event structure in a while loop but it doesn't work too.
Could you help me?

Wiebe! I tried to do as you suggested but I am not able to link the Event Reference Number inside te SubVI with the Event Register Number of the Register for Event in Main VI. There is e class conflict. Another question: how the SubVI can know the structure of the Register event outside?My aim was to create a modular structure but it seems very difficult, wath do you think about these problems?
The broken wire is related to your question. The event structure inside the sub vi knows about the events you register in the main, because the reference wire/control has a "strong" type. It contains information about the registered events. That is also why the wire is broken. You have to register all events, then create an indicator/control of the output. Use that control in the subvi. You have to do this every time the events change (you might use a type def if you use the control a lot).
Usually, the events that you would want to put inside subvi's are those related to user interface objects. I've had this a lot. You make a nice interface, but it's not reuseable, because the events are mixed with all the other events. Only solotion is to manually add the needed event cases in your program, and copy the code.
Even if you can put the events in a sub vi, I'd expect hanging vi's when more subvi's are registered for the same event. It's hard to tell without trying. So it's not a real solution either.
Like Chrisger suggested, the event callback might help a little, but they are tricky, and actually ment for this (they are intended for activex callbacks).
Perhaps you should look at XControls (if you use 8.2). It would be more work to replace your code to XControls, but once you're done, you have reusable code.. Haven't worked with them jet, but they are invented for this problem...

When i run the application event is not happening for the active page.
When user switches from active page to the other page then event is taking place for all pages

The event structure belongs inside the while loop, and not vice versa. RIght now, the event structure only runs exactly once and never again.
If the stop is pressed first, the VI will stop. Game over.
If the tab control is changed (from any state to any other state!), the inner loop will spin forever as fast as the CPU allows, either executing one or the other case. It just reads the tab terminal to decide which case to execute. Changing tab never triggers any events. The VI is trapped inside the event until stop is pressed to stop the VI.

How to run the two events at the same time by using event structure
In my project, I have to run two stepper motor which can run both forward and reverse direction by changing the control in front panel so I am using event structure. In front panel I gave two separate controls for both stepper motor such as forward,reverse and stop. I would like to do motor1 will rotate alone, motor2 will rotate alone and both motor will rotate at the same time when user click the control in front panel. My doubt is how to run a motor2 while motor1 is running at the same time please tell me the suggestion for this problem

Most motion control systems do supply two modes:
a) position based motion: The motion axis has a positioning system (most often some kind of encoder system) which enables the motion control to know where the axis is currently located. Passing the target location to the controller will result in the axis to move to that location. This is, for most applications, the recommended approach. It does require some sort of motion controller device.
b) direction based motion: This essentially tells the periphery device for the motor to move at a certain speed into a certain direction. As it does not stop at a dedicated location, it induces great risks for many applications if there are no kill- and/or end-switches. Depending on the setup, this can be either done with motion controllers or pure by software control (e.g. "controlling" the voltage level for the motor).
If you go for a), there is not much preventing parallelism as you request.
Option b) depends on the setup. If you have a control loop in the software itself, you have to move to an architecture like the producer/consumer. Please note that this does not incorporate any security measures for the external devices.

File from the Application server

I am working on a scenario where I need to get a file from the application server and for this I need to ask user to enter the location and that too at the selection screen and then I need to read this location using open data set and read data set in my program , once I am done with this I need to do some other validations. so can you please help me out how to achieve this.

Upload tab-delimited file from the application server to an internal table
Hello SAPients.
I'm using OPEN DATASET..., READ DATASET..., CLOSE DATASET to upload a file from the application server (SunOS). I'm working with SAP 4.6C. I'm trying to upload a tab-delimited file to an internal table but when I try load it the fields are not correctly separated, in fact, they are all misplaced and the table shows '#' where supposedly there was a tab.
I tried to SPLIT the line using as separator a variable with reference to CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB but for some reason that class doesn't exist in my system.
Do you know what I'm doing wrong? or Do you know a better method to upload a tab-delimited file into an internal table?

Change the condition in event structures
Hi all,
I am a student, currently doing a project. I'm very new to labview and I don't really know much of the function in labview. Anyway, I have this timer made using event structure if I'm not mistaken (I downloaded this timer from one of the post in this forum). This timer will start at 0s, count to 20s, then stop. So what can I do to change the end time of this timer?? Let's say stop at 50s??
Attached is the program. Kindly please explain to me or modify the program and attached back as a reply. I've been trying to figure it out from the help function, but still don't understand.

Thanks for your inquiry. The VI attached uses a couple of programming structures: While loop, Event structure and Case structure. What you would have to change is actually the case structure. Before we go to that, let us go through the different structures. Open up the block diagram by going to the Menu bar of the front panel and navigate to Window->Open block diagram.
The While loop is like a Do Loop in text based programming. It will execute until a condition is met. From the attached VI, it stops running when you click the exit button.
The Event structure is a structure which consists of subdiagrams. The structure responds to interactions with front panel objects. For example, if you click the start or stop button in the front panel, the event structure will switch to a case which corresponds to this interation. In the attached VI, the case, which corresponds to intreaction with the start or stop button, is called "Start", "Stop": Value Change. Each case will contain an event-handling routine.
Case structures are like switch statements in text programming. Take a look at the "Start", "Stop": Value Change event. It contains a routine which consists of a case structure. The case structure responds to the input terminal called Start (which is actually the start button on the front panel). The case structure switches between cases according to this input. To view the different cases just cycle through the case structure by clicking the left and right buttons. There are only two cases: True or False as the input is a boolean.
Now lets take a look at the VI. Take a look at the "Timeout" case of the event structure. This is where the modification needs to be made. Modify the case structure by editing the cases. Change the numbers in case structures: ..20000 to ..50000 and 20001.. to 50001.. This should do the trick.

How to exit from the button test in diagnostic mode
Hi,
I am having some trouble with my ipod 7th gen.
First my lightning cable wont be recognize. show the error Accesory incompatible.
I try to solve the problem cleaning the golden pins in the cable and in the ipod. Don't work
I enter in diagnostic mode in my ipod and I get stucked in the button counter test..
In the screen appear a mesage 'Please reset the unit to end'. I don't know how to reset the unit
I press any button and only increase the counter for every button.
First how acan exit from the button counter test and how can fix the issue with the lightning cableYour problem is that you are trapped inside an event case. It is not a good idea to run extended code inside event cases, else the event structure cannot service other events.
Why don't you use the outer loop for everything? Now things don't step on each others toes. What good is an event structure if it cannot react at all times???

Best way To get data from another application using NDDE lbrary
My vb.net application gets data from another application using NDDE Library. I got stocks prices (open,high,low,close,volume,change......(about 15 records for each stock)) (about 200 stocks) . I don't know if there is a problem in my code.
This is my code:

and then I get the data from Client_advise sub (called each time a value changed )and fill the list. What I know is that client advise gets only one record for single stock each time is called..
Example: for stock AAPL. 1st time enters client_Advise I get open price for AAPL, 2nd time I get high price for AAPL,3rd time I get low price..... and I update the value in the List (l)

Am I doing something wrong which inreases CPU usage to 80 or 90 % ?

According to your description, you'd like to get data from another app using NDDE library.
When using the NDDE library, the CPU usage is high. As the NDDE library is third-party library, it is not supported here. I suggest you checking if the problem is caused by the NDDE library.
If you'd like to get data from another app. I suggest you could save the data in the dataBase, and then read it in another application if necessary.
