Explorer (Polestar) Indexing status of univers

Hi guys
I have a question I hope you guys can help me with.
One of our BOBJ consultants have asked me if there is a way to monitor the Indexing status of the universes in Explorer (Polestar)
I'm not too familiar with the process flow or monitoring of this product. I have tried to find some information on the subject with no luck.
As he explains the indexing routine, the data is dropped from the univers and then replaced/imported again from the BW client. In the indexing/univers overview he showed me where he can see if the last indexing ran successfully or not.
Is there any way to trigger an alarm via CCMS, mail or in some outher way catch if a index run fails?

Not currently, I looked via QueryBuilder to see if there was something you could look at but Explorer infospaces don't keep any instances so there was nothign there.  I think it might be added in the future as Explorer/Polestar is relatively new I think they concentrate on rounding out the product before adding things like monitoring.

  • Explorer/Polestar: Need to re-index every time new data was loaded?

I have a question concerning the indexing functionality of BO Explorer/Polestar. It's clear that I need to re-index my infospace everytime the structure of the infospace has changed (e.g. I added a new object from my universe). What I'm not sure about is whether I also need to re-index my infospace as soon as new data was loaded in the warehouse which is supposed to be a part of my infospace. Example: I crate an infospace consisting of countries (UK, USA, Germany and Japan) and revenue. I index this infospace. The next day a new country (France) is loaded in the dwh. Do I need to re-index the infospace so that users can see "France" in BO Explorer?
    Thanks for your help!
    Agnes

    Hi Agnes,
according to the Explorer documentation new data are available AFTER reindexing.
Indexing refreshes the data and metadata in Information Spaces. After
indexing, any new data on the corporate data providers upon which those
Information Spaces are based becomes available for search and exploration.

  • How to STOP and START the BO EXPLORER/POLESTAR - LINUX

    Dear friends,
Could you please let me know on How to STOP and START the BO EXPLORER/POLESTAR on LINUX platform?
    Thank you,
    Nikee

Oracle Apex is an API, if that helps you understand / visualize. You do not start Apex process nor stop it.
When an Apex session starts it starts calling the API.
You can however start / stop the listener. It may be OHS, ApexListener and the J2EE container running it, OC4J or any other "server" that you are using.
The built-in EPG is something like an API again, you cannot start / stop it but you can disable/enable it with DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT API.

  • Explorer/Polestar Supoprt Pack Query

    Hi,
I am breaking this out from a different thread I created for clarity and because I am still not clear on the answer.
Basically I am trying to work out whether Polestar SP3 is available and if not is it safe/recommended/supported to install SP3 for Edge XI 3.1 and SAP Integration Kit, but SP2 for Polestar, i.e. different support pack levels?  Apologies if I can find this information in the documentation, but I've so far been unable to.
In addtion:  I only see these SPs for Explorer/Polestar (using two different S user IDs) to download from SMP:

  • "index status" as a search parameter in navigator

    Hi,
Out of approximately 300 000 files we have, there are about 6000 files that can not be indexed. I want to move the files to another location and then copy them again to search area folders in order to force datafinder to index them. However i have difficulties to find non-indexed files, since there are lots of folders and files.
As for the first idea, i thought i could search files using the property "index status" but this property doesnt exist in search properties. Is there a way to search for non-indexed files?
    thanks in advance
    Kaan

    Hi Kaan,
I remember answering this post yesterday, but today I don't see my answer.  I must be getting senile.  Oh well.  The DataFinder can only see files in the declared Search Areas which also have a file extension that is on the "to-index" list.  At that point the DataFinder will attempt to index that file.  The File properties that store the indexing result are "File.ErrorLog", which contains any error message as a string, and "File.IndexStatus", which stores the indexing state as an enumeration integer:
    eIndexedNotYet
    eIndexedFailure
    eIndexedSuccess
    eIndexedTimeout]
Now, as I thought I explained yesterday (but can't find today), DIAdem 10.0 will not be able to search on this property, basically due to bugs in the interface between DIAdem and the DataFinder (though it's actually more complicated than that).  The good news is that DIAdem 10.1 can search on these properties, both interactively and programmatically.

  • Spotlight -Unable to detect Spotlight indexing status

    Hi,
I am receiving the folowing error.
Spotlight -Unable to detect Spotlight indexing status
OS Bot is not accessible or mdutil(/usr/mdutil is not working.
    Basically Spotlight has stopped working
I don't have a clue how to fix this.
I would appreciate any help giving me instructions on how to fic this problem
    Thanks

I had the same problem and none of the "solutions" or "fixes" I found on any post helped. Eventually I found that my /etc/hostconfig file was not right. Every line in the file lists a service and then a setting, and there should be only one entry per line with no white space. My hostconfig file had two entries on one line, and it was the line that controlled spotlight starting up.
In /etc/hostconfig, the spotlight line looked like this:
    SPOTLIGHT=-YES-CRASHREPORTER=-YES-
But it should have looked like this:
    SPOTLIGHT=-YES-
I used vi to edit the file and moved "CRASHREPORTER=-YES-" to the next line. I then rebooted and spotlight started normally.
If your /etc/hostconfig is similarly corrupted, do the following:
    1. Launch Terminal (in ~/Applications/Utilities)
    2. type: sudo vi /etc/hostconfig
    3. enter root password
    4. use the arrow keys to place the cursor on the "C" in "CRASHREPORTER=-YES-"
    5. type i
    6. press <enter>
    7. press <esc>
    8. type :wq!
    9. press <enter>
    10. reboot

  • BOBJ Explorer (Polestar) Personalization gives PS_50304

Hello,   Your help or comments are appreciated on this issue:
    BOE: XI3.1 SP2 FP2.3
    Sap Integration kit:  XI3.1 SP2 FP2.3
    BOBJ Explorer: XI3.2 (Polestar 12.0?)
We have an existing 'primary' Information Space, and have been able to 'explore' - fabulous product!
Attempting to restrict data access, by using Personalization:
    1. Created a 'lookup' Information Space (from xls file - two fields - User_id and Sales Org) - and index it.
    2. Update 'primary' information space, adding personalization using the 'lookup' information space; match User_id to User, and add Sales Org Key to Sales Org as 'ref'.
    3. Re-index 'primary' information space (gets data from BW)
    4. Close all IE sessions, and re-logon to BOBJ Explorer (same 'admin' - SAP/BW - user, with entries in the 'lookup' Info Space)
    5. Explore 'primary' information space.
    6. Error dialog PS 50006 with detail of PS_50304.
I can't find any references to PS_50304 anywhere in docs/forums/etc.
Has anyone got this 'personalization' to work ok - preferably with primary data from BW, and personalization from xls file?
    Regards,
    Martin.

I see that there have been no responses to this but I am hoping that there is someone out there who can help.  I am having a similar issue with trying to Personalize an Explorer Infospace in BOE X3.1 SP3.
We have created an Infospace from Excel spreadsheet containing 2 columns User, Business Unit. Then in our Primary Infospace indicated this as the Reference.  when we try to open the Primary Infospace we get PS 50006 error with PS 50306 missing technical index error.
we have followed the instructions on how to set this up but appear to have missed a step somehow.
    can anyone help?
    Thanks, Faith

  • Format Value in BO Explorer (Polestar)

Hi, i'm currently have BO Explorer 3.2 SP2, does anyone knows how to format a value (Dimension or ratio) in a space?

    Hi,
All these kind of formats should be done in the source side itself.
For example, if you are using "BO Universe" as the source then you can do these formatting in the universe itself. Or if you are using SAP BI Accelerator indexes as source then this formatting can be done in the source of the Indexes (BW Infocube).
Hope this helps helps in solving your issue.

Is there any way to re sort the order of the facets/dimensions in as they appear in the an information space?
They appear to display in no specific order and can be in a different order each time you open the space.

  • EREC: TREX Index status

When i go to SES_ADMIN, if the objects dont have anything to index since the time system is online, will the status always be Initial?

    Hello Dhana,
for the latest eRec releases in combination with TREX 7.10 the index category is no longer used. So this is not an issue.
If you think that some configuration steps are missing you should repeat the eRec TREX setting again. I assume you are using an up to date eRec release (enhancement package and support package stack) so check SAP note 1301016 in the service marketplace. There you find 3 scenarios, pick the one which is matching your system and repeat all steps.
Within the note you also find the names of the eRec indexes.
    Kind Regards
    Roman
PS: one small hint for configuring the indexes in SES_ADMIN. The note still says that you first add the object and then the relation indexes for objects ERC_CAND/NA and that an error message appears. This has changed since some support package. Object and relation indexes are created together.

  • What do I do if index status is Populate?

    Hi,
    I was creating two indexes.
Creating the first index was successful, but creating the second index failed.
The second index type is based on URL datastore.
The index is created and I was able to see the index in CTX_ALL_INDEXES.
However, its status was "Populate" and I can't do anything on this index.
I tried to drop it, but I couldn't.
    1. How long does it take to change its status from Populate to Indexed?
    2. Is there a way I can force to drop an index?
    Thank you in advance,
    Sue

You can do "DROP INDEX indexname FORCE".
Do this as a last resort - it's possible for it to leave the database in an inconsistant state.
Sometimes, it may be necessary to shutdown and restart the database before you can drop the index, if you're not willing to wait for it to finish.

  • Explorer Infospace Index update

When new data has been extracted into Infocube , is it available directly to use for the Explorer?
Or we have to update the indexing of the Explorer Infospaces?

  • Business Objects Explorer(polestar) Bookmark tool Issue.

    Hi All,
We have installed business objects explorer recently. We are currently running on BOE 3.1. We have published an explorer view to our users and we have an issue with it. The users add or change analytics to the view and try to bookmark them. But the bookmarks always takes them to the base page.
Wanted to know whether this is a known issue or a service pack or a fix pack issue. Also is there a workaround for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Karthik

    Hello Karthik,
You may want to try the  Business Objects Administration forum.

  • Index status

    Hi,
i want to know the situations in which the index become invalid.if invalid how to check it out.
    rajkumar

    Hi,
Indexes can become invalid or unusable whenever a DBA tasks shifts the ROWID values, thereby requiring an index rebuild. These DBA tasks that shift table ROWID's include:
Table partition maintenance - Alter commands (move, split or truncate partition) will shift ROWID's, making the index invalid and unusable.
CTAS maintenance - Table reorganization with "alter table move" or an online table reorganization (using the dbms_redefinition package) will shift ROWIDs, creating unusable indexes.
Oracle imports - An Oracle import (imp utility) with the skip_unusable_indexes=y parameter
SQL*Loader (sqlldr utility) - Using direct path loads (e.g. skip_index_maintenance) will cause invalid and unusable indexes.
    Thanks
