Export Application and Static Files
Using Apex 3.2, I use the Export Application utility to move apps from one Environment to another.
In one of the Apps I have a Static file which is only for that specific App, It doesn't seem the import the static file for me.
I have to load thru shared components again in the other the environment.
I'm I missing a step with regards to static files or do I really need to do both steps?

I can't tell for sure, but - when I tried to include "static files" (such as images?) into my export script (APEXExport, right?), I couldn't find a way to do that. Therefore, speaking from my own experience, that stupid way you described is the only way I know.
It would be nice if someone knows better; at least two of us would benefit from it.

Waiting for the best suggestions ?when you have a large number of images/css/javascript/static(html/pdf/doc) files. It takes some of the processing load from your app server and also reduces the network traffic (otherwise traffic must flow between webserver and weblogic as well). it is also reasonably trivial to configure cache/modification/etags headers from a webserver and they are probably more featured than a weblogic server (e.g. to turn on gzip for static files dynamic is just a setting in the webserver but probably needs a custom filter developed in weblogic).
Again this applies if you already have a webserver (normally because your firewall policy dictates this approach). If you are considering whether to have a webserver at all then there are different considerations.

Apple Compressor has been doing wmf exports for a decade. I have the Quicktime export components from Telestream and they appear as presets in Compressor. They should be available in Media Encoder or they should be importable. Adove apparently refuses to see them. Still trying to figure that out. -
Security Settings won't reset "Launching applications and unsafe files"
Hi,
I'm using Windows 8.1 update 1 with IE.
I found a very strange problem,
If I changed the setting of:
Security tab-> Internet -> Custom level -> Miscellaneous -> Launching applications and unsafe file,
for example, I changed the setting from default "Prompt" to
"Enable",
Then I tried to reset all setting to "Medium-high(default)" at "Reset custom settings",
The setting I changed above never goes back to its default setting, it keeps the status "Enable".
All other settings I changed would be reset normally but only this one refuse to be reset.
B.T.W, I noticed this because somehow my IE refused to allow me download any exe file, even though I tried to reset the security setting. The only way which could let me reset this is to click the reset button in "Advanced" tab.
I don't know if this is intended or a bug or something wrong with my PC, but this is dangerous I think, because it made me believe that I have reset my security setting but actually not.
I tried to scan my PC with windows defender and MalwareBytes and found no threat. Windows update is also in an up-to-date state. I also tried to launch IE as admin then reset the security setting and with no luck.
I'm worrying about my PC is getting some kind of virus which caused this problem, so if any information will be appreciated.

Reset button indeed can't change it as default. I also could reproduce this issue.

If you want to go back to "Prompt" status now, you need to uncheck "Enable" and check "Prompt" checkbox manually.

Not able to access files from Workspace Images and Static files
Hi,
We have just migrated our APEX Application from one server to another.
All the functionality is working fine except the images or files which we are uploading
in
Shared Components -> Static Files
Shared Components -> Images
We are uloading Images in Shared Components -> Images but those are not getting displayed there.
Similarly the files which we are uploaded in Shared Components -> Static Files are not accessible. If we
try to download using download icon its showing blank screen.
I am using some javascript files which i have uploaded into static files, but not able to refer them in page.
Please someone guide us how to resolve the above problem.

If you upload any static files such as IMAGES, FILES, or CSS you have to use the tags: #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# or #IMAGE_PREFIX# depending on your files location..
then try something like htp.p ('<img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#fileName.gif" />');
And it should show the fileName.gif on your browser...
I am not sure if i remember correctly, you can reference files to a specific application or to the whole application, if I am not mistaken..Correct me..

Non-application specific static files not visible in shared components
Hello,
We recently upgraded to APEX 4.0.2.00.07. In the past we have uploaded a number of static files with no specific application linked to them.
Now, when I search on these files using Shared Components -> Static Files, I don't find them back.
But, if I directly query the view APEX_WORKSPACE_FILES (using the APEX schema owner), I see all the files. They have APPLICATION_ID = 0 and APPLICATION_NAME is empty.
Is this a bug? I couldn't reproduce this with newly added static files, whether I specify an application or not.

Excellent idea/perspective...I did not think of that. Each of our forms/screens has a seperate class file. Each class file has a CreateForm() routine that is called when an instance of the class is intiated behind the menu selection.

Hi All,
I was given a macbook pro with parallel windows, and later windows was remove but hard disk space is greyed out and could not be merge and when i run a 'verify disk' it told me to reformat my OS. The nearest service centre is real far away from me and i hope to solve this on my own. I need to keep my applications and files, how do i do so? As some of these applications was given by my company. I need help on keeping my files and reformating.

Hi last night I stupidly downloaded App Cleaner and deleted all my applications and their associated files. Because I panicked I wasn't able to use the "put back" so I just dragged everything back in to Applications. Now none of the applications will work as some of the associated files aren't in the correct location and some of the files aren't even applications. i did not back up my system with Time Machine (lesson learnt). Please please can someone help me, I know that Mac's don't have a roll back like PC's

You need to reinstall all of your Apps. That should replace all of the support files you nuked. -

Get the document out use FTP. Make a backup copy :). Edit using you favorite XML editor. Put back in using FTP. More often than not if it's something I expect to do many times I will create a SQL statement to do the changes and use dbms_xdb.cfgget and cfgupd to do the changes. I also have an xdb_configuration package that get methods for the really common ones. Latest version of the code is shown below...

Applications and random files have magically disappeared!!!
Hello Everyone,
I've been using my imac (OSX 10.5.5) daily for about 18 months with no problem whatsoever....until last when it started behaving erratically:
1. external hard lacie firewire drives would not eject partitions (had to restart computer)
2. for a period, the computer became very CPU hungry and slow for no apparent reason. i noticed in my istat widget that a particular process was the culprit, but unfortunately i didn't copy it down...
3. my copy of entourage has given me several warnings to restart the application and that if the problem persists (whatever that is..??) i might have to rebuild my mail database. I have never received these errors messages from entourage before...
To my horror, i then discovered the following:
1. several iphoto albums had missing photos despite having being successfully imported from external media earlier in the day
2. several application icons all of a sudden displayed a superimposed "?" in the dock
3. the above mentioned applications magically disappeared COMPLETELY (eg, m/soft entourage, vuze, adobe acrobat), with no evidence of their existence in the applications folder. for example, even my entourage mail database file was completely removed from the documents/microsoftuserdata/office2008identities folder!
4. several other files magically disappeared from the hard drive
rebooting from an external source and attempting to repair/verify disk permissions resulted in the following error messages:
+Started verify/repair permissions on disk disk0s2 Macintosh HD+
+Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired+

Thankfully, I have a recent (working) superduper clone of of HD, so i restored the entire system (using the smart update function as opposed to doing a clean install)
(i stupidly neglected to enable my timemachine backups as of late, so i didn't have a 'most recent' time machine backup to restore to)
OK so after doing the superduper restore, i decided to perform several dejavu backups of selected folders. BUT the backup failed, and i received the same disk permission error messages. In addition, i also got the following dejavu error log:

My next logical step is to perform the superduper restore again, but this time i will erase the destination drive first and do a clean install/restore. Before i embark on this, i was hoping someone could give me a little advice!

An improper shutdown or restart can cause the filesystem corruption.
Can someone please tell me what these error messages mean?
The repair permission errors are innocuous. Dejavu is looking for the volinfo.database which is missing. This database keeps a record of permission enabled and disabled mounts (disks). -
Error While deploy VC Application and Par file
Hi Experts,
The deployment of par or VC application worked fine, but last one week i am getting error while deploying par or VC application.
I am getting pop-up window while deploy VC Application. That pop-up window shows Portal Request Failed. (com/sap/netweaver/bc/uwl/UWLException).
I am getting Error like this, Please Check the user ID and password, while deploying par from NWDS.
I have checked my userid and password, it is correct. I checked with admin userid and password, it shows the same error. it is showing same for my team members userid also.
I have checked logs and traces in server, nothing is logging regarding this deployment error.
Where is the problem, please anybody help me. I am using EP7 SP9.

I checked all the permission in the SECURITY ZONES, all the setting are correct in the portal.
I informed to our BASIS Team, they found that problem is, one process always running in SDM. It didnt let to deploy another PAR file. They cann't able to open the SDM after gave the SDM username and password, its shows "still processing". So, how can we kill the process ? They restarted the SDM and also J2EE Engine, its still processing. After that they restarted the Machine also, still the process going on.
How can we rectify the problem ?..

Best way to remove applications and unneeded files
I have an Imac running slow. Duo Core processor. 4 mgs Ram. Disabled Java in Safari. Getting all my photos off the computer. Safari runs slow. Beachball forever. Have removed past Mac Keeper. Want to know the best way (Until I can add more RAM, if I can, to speed up my mac. I have had to purchase Adobe Cloud to replace Photoshop etc and want to remove all files on my computer not needed for Adobe and any other files slowing down my computer. Also, need Safari to be working. I wait for ever for pages to load and to access Gmail. Want to defragment my hard drive as well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Empty the trash in the Dock as well as iPhoto’s trash!
Open up your application folder & go through all your apps. Trash all the apps you no longer want and/or use.
An easier way to do this is to open the Application folder in list view & press the Command+j keys.
In the the dialog that appears, click the "This Window Only" button & the "Calculate All Sizes" check box.
Wait a bit until your file & folder sizes have all been calculated, then click the "Size" column to sort your apps from the fattest to the most anorexic.
Get rid of all your photo files you don't want and/or need. Same goes for those pics off the websites you downloaded (gifs, jpegs, etc.). Or transfer/move them all to a photo/movie storage site like ImageShack and Photobucket, 2 of the most popular FREE storage sites.
Get rid of all your video & music files you no longer view and/or listen too. Especially, if you already have the actual CD/DVDs or you can later redownload from a website. Or transfer them all to a FREE video/movies and/or music storage site.
Use Spotlight to make sure you got rid of everything. You can even trash directly from Spotlight! Better yet, download this FREE software called Find File. This app puts Spotlight to shame (works w/Mountain Lion).
Drag what you don't want and/or need to the trash. Better yet, download this neat little shareware app *demo* called AppZapper. It basically does all the work for you by not only trashing the apps but the apps preference files, caches & all its associated files.
Another software that does the above is AppDelete. Best of all this software is free!
Burn what you want and/or need onto CDs or DVDs. Not everyone has the luxury of purchasing an external HD and/or the system requirements for iCloud to store their "stuff.”
Dropbox is a free storage utility to check out.
You can check with your ISP to see if they offer *free* storage space. Most if not all do now-a-days. There are thousands if not millions of *free* storage facilities on the web also. Use your favorite search engine to search them out as they come in different storage sizes to fit your needs & wants.
Check for duplicate fonts.
Applications>Font Book
Select “All Fonts”
If you see any “black dots” next to any fonts this mean you have duplicates and/or multiple versions of these fonts.
To clean this up, select a “black dotted” font or the Apple + *click* to select multiple dotted fonts;
Edit>Resolve>Duplicates.
What the above does is turns off the duplicates & multiple version fonts. Not delete them.
More than likely the “extras” were installed by other programs and/or other users.
Clear out font caches
Use FontNuke. It does all the work for you. And, best of all it’s *FREE*.
Printer Drivers
Get rid of all the printer drivers you don’t need & use except the ones for your *current* printer(s)/scanner(s).
HD>Library>Printers Folder
If you accidently threw something out that you needed for your printer/scanner it can be easily obtained from the manufacturer’s website and/or from the CD that came w/the printer/scanner.
Garage Band
Has about 1GB of loops stored. Get rid of some some them. You surely don’t use, like and/or need them all.
HD>Library>Audio/Apple Loops>Apple>Apple Loops For GarageBand
Or just get rid of the Garage Band app altogether if you don’t use it.
Get rid of extra languages
Strip your computer down to your “native” tongue.
You can do this with a *FREE* utility called Monolingual. Another app that apparently does all the work for you. I’ve never used it. However, a lot of users here swear by & recommend it highly.
However, there is a warning for *native English speakers*. Make sure you keep BOTH English and English (United States).

Exif tool and Export Jpeg and Tiff files
I run Lightroom 4.4 under Apple OS X10.4.4
When I export files Exif Tool (in Graphic Converter) under ICC header shows for Jpeg "Primary Platform = Microsoft and for = Tiff Apple; and under ICC Profile Color profile for Jpeg = HP but Adobe 1998 for Tiff. I can see that there is a difference between the profile for Jpeg and Tiff (eg sRgb and Adobe1998) but don't follow why the Primary platform differs and shows Microsoft for Jpeg and that the jpeg profile is HP. Why the difference in the PrimaryPlatform tag, I don't know, it does not matter.
The ProfileCopyright tag is HP for sRGB, Kodak for ProPhotoRGB and Adobe for AbobeRGB (1998) of course. -
IMovie 11 Exporting Movie and No File and External Drive Falling Asleep
Help! Had a frustrating day and night with iMovie, which has been happening a lot lately.
We are making a highlight video for my son from his many sports events which are on a 3TB fixed external drive and a 2TB portable one. After putting the highlight video together with clips from both drives it is time to Export the movie which I am doing to the 3TB Drive. However after completion, there is no file anywhere. Upon taking the same steps with same filename, there is no warning about existing file. I have tried to export to local drive on Mac as well.
Also, if I do a higher quality export it takes a while and the external portable drive falls asleep. Any way to keep it awake without sitting there and accessing the drive manually. I looked in the drive settings through the mac and it does not tell it to put the drive to sleep. In hindsight we should have had all videos on the 3TB drive but I am afraid to move them now.
And...we put some arrows in pointing to him with a freeze frame and PIP. The arrows are there when I select them manually but don't appear when running through the movie as we preview the entire footage.

When trying to move a project from Macbook Pro laptop to iMac, the program says, 'file system of the destination volume is not supported.'
This is true for both a thumb drive and a SD card. What is the fix? ThanksFormat them OS X Extended. Aperture libraries have to be on OS X Extended formatted volumes.
Use Disk Utility. Remember when you format a drive you erase all the data that is on it. So it there is anything you want on those copy it off first.
