Export Data in 1.1 to XLS very slow

I'm currently running with Oracle 10g. I have been having a problem running Lengthy SQL and trying to export to XLS. It appears to lock with I select Export Data --> XLS and after letting run for a long time eventually it will return with the Browse window and then when I select the file location it will again take a long time before it returns again. Is there still multiple selects re-occur in 1.1 as the prior versions? Or is there a setup parameter that I can set to improve performance?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This is an issue with the way the export from SQL Developer works - it doesn't matter which format you are exporting to. SQL Developer executes the query multiple times when exporting.
On top of the initial query, it appears to execute the query again before displaying the dialog (for the columns and maybe sample data for the where tab?) and then again to actual export the query (in case you have added conditions on the export where tab).
Try switching on tracing with a quick statement, run it and then export it. You need to look for the "select * from ( select columns from ( <your query> ) )" selects that are generated by the export).
With long running queries, I find that it is far quicker to query all the rows and then do a select all, copy and then paste into the spreadsheet. Unfortunately, you don't get column headings with this, but if your query takes 10 minutes to run, you save yourself 20 minutes to manually add the headings.
This has been a problem since 1.0 (see More export issues/bugs but at least 1.1 has reduced the number of additional queries - there was an extra query on export in 1.0.
Note that export also still fails with an ORA-972 on exporting a query like "select 'testing query execution on export' from dual" as part of this multiple execution on export.

  • Script to export data frmo SQL Server 2014 to xls file

    Hi All:
    I want to export data form a table in SQl Server 2014 to an xls file.
    Currently I have a working script for SQL Server 2005 in the below lines, but the same script doesnot work for SQL Server 2014.
    set @outFileName='D:\Folder1\File1.xls'
    SET @QueryString = 'INSERT INTO OPENROWSET( ''Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0'', ' + @outFileName +
     ',''select * ' + 'from [Sheet1$A1:IV65000]'') select * from Table1 ' --order by CreatedDate'
    EXEC ( @QueryString )                  .
    I have checked on the web but didnot get a good answer. Please share with me if any one has a working script for SQL Server 2014.
    Thanks... Happy Diwali.. :)

    Ok, I have downloaded the exe from the above link.
    As I have to install this on a production environment, I want to be sure of certain things ...
    Say I have installed the Provider, what would be the syntax for exporting the data from sql server 2014 to xls.
    It would certainly not be the same ... i feel.. please let me know.
    Thanks
    Yes
    provider connection string would be different
    like
    INSERT INTO OPENROWSET("Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0", "Excel 12.0;Database=<full file name>.xlsx;HDR=YES", "SELECT * FROM [SheetName$]")
    SELECT ..
    FROM table

  • Force SQL Developer 1.5.4 to export data on  1 XLS workSheet

    Hello.
    I'm using SQL Developer 1.5.4 to export data into XLS format.
    The exported file is about 40MB big.
    During the export, I have noticed that SQL Developer splits the data into several worksheets, having about 64,001 rows each.
    Please, is there any way I could force SQL Developer to have all of the data on a singke WorkSheet?
    Thanks.

    I'm just guessing, but I suspect that the 64,000 row limit is so the resulting XLS file can be opened in Excel 2003 or earlier. Excel 2003 has a limit of ~65,536 (2^16) rows in a worksheet. Even if you were to export as a CSV or Text (tab-delimited) file and try loading it into Excel, it would choke and quit once the worksheet limit had been reached.

  • V 2.1.1.64 Export Data - nothing happened after clicking "Apply" to export

    Hi,
    I just installed SQL Developer 2.1.1.64 and need help to figure out what's with Export Data functionality.
    Here's what I did:
    1) Ran a select statement;
    2) Positioned my mouse cursor in the Query Result area;
    3) Right clicked to get to Export Data option;
    4) Selected xls as output format; and
    5) Accepted default file name and location by clicking on 'Apply'.
    It did not seem like an output file was being created and I received no error messages....
    Where should I look to figure out what went wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    I've the same problem with the export data, and before start to write this post i've tried to made the changes to the sqldeveloper.conf and ide.conf but data files was created only in some queries result not depending by the number of row selected. For example :
    query A
    select ofx_cd_isti, ofx_dt_rif
    from ofx_datarif
    where ofx_cd_isti = '05188'
    Result 1 row
    query B
    select of1_cd_isti, of1_dt_stipula
    from of1_contratti
    where of1_cd_isti = '05188'
    and of1_id_fin = 1
    Result 1 row
    I succeed to export the result of query "A" and not for "B". The data type of selected columns are the same (CHAR 5, DATE) and the results are both 1 row, but the two table are very different (just 10 row for query A, and 800000 for query B).
    The location of data file created for the export of query a was C:\Documents and Settings\GS01140\Documenti\table_export.xls.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Export data form JTable to excel

    Hi! i want to export data from JTable to excel.
    could you help me please?

    Despite your question looks doesn't seems to be very complex, I feel pity I am a newbie can not offer you the answers. I am more familiar with exporting data to excel in C#. I've worked with a Data Grid control, just like the JTable. Here are some C# code example. Maybe you can take them as a kind of reference.
    ExportToExcelML exporter = new ExportToExcelML(this.ketticGridView1);
    exporter.HiddenColumnOption = Kettic.WinForm.UI.Export.HiddenOption.DoNotExport;
    exporter.ExportVisualSettings = true;
    exporter.SheetMaxRows = ExcelMaxRows._1048576;
    exporter.SheetName = "NewSheet";
    exporter.SummariesExportOption = SummariesOption.DoNotExport;
    string fileName = "C:\\ExportedGridData1.xls";
    exporter.RunExport(fileName);

  • Report script taking too long to export data

    Hello guys,
    I have a report script to export data out of a BSO cube. The cube is 200GB in size. But the exported text file is only 10MB. It takes around 40 mins to export this file.
    I have exported data of this size in less than a minute from other DBs. But this one is taking way too long for me.
    I also have a calc script for the same export but that too is taking 20 mins which is not reasonable for a 10MB export.
    Any idea why a report script could take this long? Is it due to huge size of database? Or is there a way to optimize the report script?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the input guys.
    My DATAEXPORT is taking half the time than my report script export. So yeah it is much faster but still not reasonable(20 mins for one month data) compared to other DBs that are exported very quick.
    In my calc I am just FIXING on level 0 members for most of the dimensions against the specific period, year and scenario. I have checked the conditions for an optimal report script, I think mine is just fine.
    The outline has like 15 dimensions in it and only two of them are dense. Do you think the reason might be the huge size of DB along with too many sparse Dims?
    I appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks

  • Is there any way to export data from a calendar 5 instance to 6.3?

    I've run into yet another issue with my migration from calendar 5 to 6.3.
    It turns out that one of our satellite clinics has a very large amount of data stored on our older server. Right now we're having to put the migration on hold because there are several hundred events on the old server that are repeat events and/or events scheduled relatively far in the future. This issue, along with the possibility of double booking events/appointments while both servers are active, is a serious risk that could have detrimental effects on this site.
    There are a few issues that I'm not certain how to handle in this case. First of all, the old server's database is stored in schema 1, and changes in the LDAP directory structure from cal 5 vs. 6.3 made it impossible to migrate the old database and accounts. The new server is schema 2. So migrating the whole directory, especially at this point, seems rather unlikely.
    Is there any way that I can export data for specific accounts and calendars for the people at this site in a version-independent format and import it to the new server? If nothing else we can schedule somebody to come in on one of the weekends and manually copy the data, but if possible I'd like to avoid devoting somebody to that for the several hours that it would take to copy that by hand. Also, this would not be the preferred method due to the fact that human error could result in our clients being misscheduled, which would obviously be bad for business.
    I'd appreciate any ideas anybody may have on this matter.
    Thanks in advance.

    Actually I guess I was missing the obvious method of simply exporting to xml and importing on the new calendar. For some reason I thought that the exports were incompatible between versions as well.Hmm... whilst this may have worked on the face-of-it I do wonder whether everything has indeed been moved across and more importantly translated into the correct form e.g. access controls, uids => uids@domain format.
    Is there anybody that can answer definitively whether or not any data will be lost by this procedure?There are simply too many variables involved in your proposed migration to provide any kind of 100% iron-clad guarantees. I would suggest you perform a thorough test migration of the data and then compare the ics/xml export from the ics5/6 systems to see if any of the data has changed. Also test to see whether access controls are still working (can a user who could previously edit another persons calendar on ics5 now do so with ics6).
    Things to look out for are that meeting attendee information is kept, any 'fancy' characters (i.e. 8-bit characters) and formatting information is kept, the number of tasks/meetings is consistent between the two versions and so forth.

  • Exporting Data From Oracle 10g to Access

    Hi Experts,
    I need to export data from oracle apps shcema(each and every object in it) to MS ACCESS File.
    Please let me know how to do it
    Thanks and Regards,
    Andy

    Since you did not provide details of what you are planning to do, a very simple, however, depending upon the number of your tables, very labour intensive solution:
    Although being not very familiar with access, I think access offers a means to import csv files.
    So e.g. using SQL*Plus you can execute the following steps.
    set pagesize <nnn>
    set linesize <nnn>
    set colsep ',' -- You may choose other special characters to separate columns of your output
    spool <csv-file>
    select * from <tab>;
    spool offWherever you see <nnn> exchange by appropriate numeric values to get just one page as result and to configure your line size to hold a complete record in one output line.
    Replace <csv-file> and <tab> by the name of your output file to be read in to access and by the name of your table, respectively.

    Hello all,
          I am creating a application in BSP  wherein i have to export data to excel sheet.
      I am able to do that but the output in excel sheet is not formatted. it is displaying the data in a single

    Can anyone help me with some solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gurmahima.

    the issue is here
    LOOP AT itab_xls INTO wa_xls.
    CONCATENATE L_STRING wa_xls-product_name
    wa_xls-area_name
    wa_xls-landx
    CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>CR_LF INTO L_STRING SEPARATED BY SPACE.
    ENDLOOP.
    instead do the following
    LOOP AT itab_xls INTO wa_xls.
    CONCATENATE L_STRING wa_xls-product_name ','
    wa_xls-area_name  ','
    wa_xls-landx  ','
    CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>CR_LF INTO L_STRING .
    ENDLOOP.
    and then change the file name extension from xls to csv. it should open properly in excel.
    Note that this is only excel csv file. if you want a proper excel excel file, then
    option one: build a html table with your data into a string and pass it to excel
    option 2: build excel xml using your data into a string and pass it to excel.

  • Exporting data from a screen's tab pages to an excel sheet

    Is it possible to export data in different tab pages of a screen into a single .xls.
    Suppose i am having 5 tab pages on my screen and having one export button, is it possible to export all tabs data in one go in a .xls by pressing the export button.

    Batul,
    As I understand, through the standard Export button functionality you can only export the visible fields on the Page.

  • Exporting data from a multiple worksheet excel to oracle database.

    Hi,
    Am having a very big problem,i have to export data from excel to database.My excel is havin multiple worksheet.
    I thought of most of the options nothing is suiting my layout.
    SQL loader ,can't use due to multiple worksheet.
    HSServices can;t use because my column headings are row wise,and the excel start with a big Heading rather than having column headings.
    UTL_FILE can't use beacuse of multiple worksheet,and frankly speaking i don't know how to use utl file with excel to read paticular cell in excel.
    Thanks

    First of all: this is a forum of volunteers.
    So no one is obliged to respond to you.
    Therefore 'urgent' does not exist in this forum, and labeling your request as 'urgent' is considered rude by many. If it is really that urgent, submit a prio 1 request at Metalink.
    Secondly, I don't think you thought of most of the options.
    Yes, you can use SQL*Loader as you can dump each individual worksheet to a separate CSV file.
    Also, you didn't consider ODBC. If ODBC in Excel is too cumbersome, you can use MsAccess to hook the Excel sheet in Msaccess, connect to the database using the Oracle ODBC driver and design an ordinary append query,
    Obviously, you would need one query per worksheet.

  • Export data from an iView to Excel, get a login screen displayed in Excel

    Hi
    I'm trying to export data from a tableview to excel, I followed the instruction posted by Detlev Beutner, created a class extends AbstractPortalComponent, and overwrote the doOnNodeReady:
    HttpServletResponse response = request.getServletResponse(true);
    response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "filename=\"text.xls\"");
    I did write some test output in doContent:
             aResponse.write("Filed11,Filed12,Field13");
             aResponse.write("Field21,Field22,Field23");
    I was hoping to see the excel to display the content "Field11 Field12...", but I got a portal login screen displayed in Excel.
    Does anyone have the same experience and and idea on this?
    Thanks
    Yutong

    Sure, here is the sample code for method doOnNodeReady
    protected void doOnNodeReady(IPortalComponentRequest request,
          IEvent event)
      //set http content type to excel format
      HttpServletResponse response = request.getServletResponse(true);
      response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
      response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachement;filename=\"abc.xls\"");
      java.io.PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
      // print out the header
      out.print(headerSubject + "\t");
      out.print(headerDueDate + "\t");
      // then print out your data
      out.close();
