Export estimate in oracle 9i
How can I estimate the size of full database export in oracle 9i? I am talking about old exp in oracle 9i (not data pump of 10 g). thanks
Hi,
There is no reliable way to estimate the size of a dump file.
Take a look at this thread below:

Exporting Data From Oracle 10g to Access
Hi Experts,
I need to export data from oracle apps shcema(each and every object in it) to MS ACCESS File.
Please let me know how to do it
Thanks and Regards,
AndySince you did not provide details of what you are planning to do, a very simple, however, depending upon the number of your tables, very labour intensive solution:
Although being not very familiar with access, I think access offers a means to import csv files.
So e.g. using SQL*Plus you can execute the following steps.
set pagesize <nnn>
set linesize <nnn>
set colsep ',' -- You may choose other special characters to separate columns of your output
spool <csv-file>
select * from <tab>;
spool offWherever you see <nnn> exchange by appropriate numeric values to get just one page as result and to configure your line size to hold a complete record in one output line.
Replace <csv-file> and <tab> by the name of your output file to be read in to access and by the name of your table, respectively. -

Export performance on oracle 9i
We have newly installed Oracle DB on 2 Linux Servers
Perfromance on both is found to be slow as compared to
Oracle DB on the other server LINUX
The Export activity (for 100K records) in AutoClass on various servers gives
following figures:
D1- 2min
D2 : 5hrs
D3 : 14 hrs;;
Can you tell mi configuration / settings and differences between them and
suggest the changes that would be required.which parameter I want to check for the fast export in the oracle database..? How I improve the speed of exportDo the three machines have equal specifications? Are the databases all the same (same size, parameters,...)?

i want to export/import the
Oracle Portal Online Help Content Area
i tried this same as (my own content area
export/import)...but my own content area Pages were worked.....how do i do this..
any help..
thanks in advance
nullThe recommended way is to export the User Manager configuration template out (using the AdminUI), import it into your new enviroment (again using the AdminUI - you have to type the password of the LDAP user in since it is not exported) and then initiating an LDAP Synch.

============================================
PURPOSE
============
- Direct
- where 절에 해당하는 export utility는 query parameter 를 사용한다.
UNIX syntax:
- Example:
1.SCOTT.Emp table의 ename 이 JAME과 비슷한 이름의 data 를 export ..
exp scott/tiger query=\"where ename like \'JAME%\'\" tables=emp file=exp.dmp log=exp.log
2. employee와 cust table에서 new york 주의 data 만 export ..
exp scott/tiger query=\"where st=\'NY\'\" tables=(employee,cust) file=exp.dmp log=exp.log
예)query=\"where JOB = \'SALESMAN\' and salary \< 1600\"
tables=emp query="where job='SALESMAN'"
[rmtdchp6]/apac/rdbms/64bit/app/oracle/product/9.2.0> exp scott/tiger parfile=p
Export: Release 9.2.0.4.0 - Production on Wed Mar 17 00:12:34 2004

server uses KO16KSC5601 character set (possible charset conversion)
About to export specified tables via Conventional Path ...
. . exporting table EMP 4 rows exported
exp scott/tiger tables=emp query="where job='SALESMAN'"
LRM-00101: unknown parameter name 'job'
EXP-00019: failed to process parameters, type 'EXP HELP=Y' for help
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
1>exp scott/tiger tables=emp query=\'where deptno=20\'
Export: Release 9.2.0.4.0 - Production on Wed Mar 17 00:22:00 2004
Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

. . exporting table EMP 4 rows exported
2>exp scott/tiger tables=emp query=\'where job=\'SALESMAN\'\'
LRM-00112: multiple values not allowed for parameter 'query'
EXP-00019: failed to process parameters, type 'EXP HELP=Y' for help
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
query=\'where deptno = 20\'
query=\"where deptno = 20\"
query=\'where deptno \< 2\'
query='where deptno = 20'
query="where deptno = 20"
query='where deptno < 20'
WINDOWS NT / 2000 와 NETWARE syntax:
Example:
EXP demo/demo tables=emp file=exp1.dmp query="""where deptno>30"""
file=exp66.dmp
query="where deptno > 20"
tables=(emp)
log=log66.txt
userid=scott/tiger
Explanation
Windows NT or Win2000의 경우 command line에서는 3 double quotes 이 필요하고
'PARFILE 을 사용하는 경우에는 double quotes(") 한번만 필요함

As this is your first export and import activity, relevant concept understanding is mandatory for you.

hi all
i want to know how can i export an query in xml format,
should i installa an xml sdk
the datanase is oracle 8i ( 8.1)
thanksAs I recall from my 8i days (it's been many years), the only way to do this is to install the XML XDK. From http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdk/xdk_java.html, it says "The Oracle9i versions of the XDK can also be used to build applications designed to interface with Oracle8i databases." I had thought the 10g version could do that as well but I'm not seeing it now.
Since XMLType was not part of 8i, you will need to use PL/SQL to take your Select statement results and build them into a DOMDocument structure.
Hope that helps.
