    i have compiled an xml file and got html,pdf etc using jasperreports but that was from an java application and now i want to convert this application to an jsp page so i have copied these jar files "commons-beanutils-1.5.jar","commons-collections-2.1.jar","commons-digester-1.3.jar","itext-1.01.jar","jasperreports-0.5.2.jar" to the folder "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\lib" and have set classpath to these jar files.
    my application(java class invoked by a servlet) is in C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes.
    i m using this API "JasperCompileManager.compileReportToFile(fileName);"

    please help me..
    i know i may not be clear to u but plz give me some way out i m totally stucked.

    hi,
    thanx for your reply.
    ya i have "commons-logging-1.0.2.jar" file but when i tried to put it with other jar files and set the class path and run the application thru tomcat then it automatically stops the tomact.and when i removed this perticular logging jar file then tomcat works normally but gives the error which i mentioned before.
    i have also tried the second option u suggested, by putting the LogFactory class files in "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\org\apache\commons\logging" but that was not working.shud i set some classpath for them? or shud i have to import these packages........ but when i copied this folder "org" to C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes and in program wrote import org.* then copilation error occured "no such package found.
    what to do now.

  • Generate Jasper report in JSP

    Hi all,
    im currently doing some research on jasper. Im totally new to this and wish if somebody can give some tips on how to start off..Below are some of my questions..
    1. After compile and create the report design using iReport, does it means when we've got our XML response from server ,we just feed in the fields accordingly to the .jasper file we've created earlier on OR we have to concurrently design,and compile report and send XML request to server...
    2. Can provide me with some ideas of how to generate jasper report in JSP where the whole process is inclusive of passing XML request to server..retrieving data..formatting..passing result set to XML response ...may i know when is the process of generating jasper start off in between of this?
    Please advise, im really blurred at the moment...
    Thx a million...
    chEers,
    cyunntan

    Probably its better to ask it at JasperReports Forums:

  • Crystal report from JSP using the JRC

    Hi, I am trying to call crystal report from JSP using the JRC.
    But i am getting the Error as 'Logon Failed'. my web.xml entry is

    <env-entry-type>java.lang.String</env-entry-type>
    </env-entry>
    i am setting the userid and password in the code. Please see the below code for your reference. Please help me to solve the issue.

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Crystal Report with Database Logon information</title> </head>
    <body bgcolor="#ffffff">
    <%
    try
    String report = "/TEMPLATE.rpt";
    IReportSourceFactory2 rptSrcFactory = new JPEReportSourceFactory();
    JPEReportSource reportSource = (JPEReportSource) rptSrcFactory.createReportSource(report, request.getLocale());
    CrystalReportViewer viewer = new CrystalReportViewer();
    viewer.setReportSource(reportSource);
    viewer.setHasRefreshButton(true);
    IConnectionInfo newConnInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    newConnInfo.setUserName("TEST");
    newConnInfo.setPassword("TEST");
    ConnectionInfos newConnInfos = new ConnectionInfos();
    newConnInfos.add(newConnInfo);
    viewer.setDatabaseLogonInfos(newConnInfos);
    viewer.setEnableLogonPrompt(false);
    viewer.setOwnPage(true);
    viewer.setOwnForm(true);
    out.println("Connection Information: "+viewer.getDatabaseLogonInfos().getConnectionInfo(0).getAttributes().toString());
    viewer.processHttpRequest(request, response, getServletConfig().getServletContext(),null);
    viewer.dispose();
    catch(Exception e)
    throw new JspException( e);
    %>
    </body>
    </html>

    I never really had much luck with this approach.
    Mind you I was using Crystal Reports 10, and as far as I recall it didn't allow setting/changing of database at this level.
    Things to check
    - can you create a database connection on your page with this URL/username/password?
    - what server are you using? Tomcat? WebLogic?
    I found this in your other post:
    Connection Information: {Server Name=ee6rpt, Connection String=DSN=s(ee6rpt);User ID=s(ee62test);Password=;UseDSNProperties=b(false), Database Name=, Database DLL=crdb_odbc.dll}That would indicate it is using odbc to connect to the database (crdb_odbc.dll). ODBC is a bad idea with java.
    The way I have got it to work for me (after much trial and error) was to in Crystal Reports to connect using the Oracle Driver, and specifying a tnsname - eg define REPORT_DS in tnsnames.ora.
    When running through the JRC, it looked for a JNDI datasource under that same name "REPORT_DS".
    Don't know if that will help you or not.
    Good luck,

    Hi,
    this is the forum for the SAP Integration Kit. I would suggest you post your question into the Crystal Reports forum.
    the answer - yes you can use OpenDocument to show the report right away as PDF.

    On my Windows environment the JRC export into PDF work perfectly. I know that there are some known issues regarding the usage of JRC on Linux environments. Could this be one of those?
    Any solution (or workaround) would be highly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    PS Maybe this is relevant: I use a MySQL database!

    What kind of image do you have in the report?
    Do you have -Djava.awt.headless=true specified for the Java JVM option?

  • Unable to view Dynamic Prompts in Crystal Reports through JSP

    Hi,
    We are using Crystal Reports, SQL Server and Java in our application. We are using JSP to access Crystal Reports from another machine, get them as "ReportClientDocument" objects and then display them using "CrystalReportInteractiveViewer" object. We are able to view reports with Static Paramter values, but when we try to access reports with Dynamic Parameter values the parameter fields are not visible. It doesn't show any error but we can't see the parameter values.
    Any help in this regard will be great. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ted,
    We are using the JAVA SDK to fetch the report. These are the steps we do using java.
    - Log in to the Crystal Enterprise
    - Get the Report Application Factory from Crystal Enterprise
    - Get the InfoStore service from Crystal Enterprise
    - Retrieve the report by name from Crystal Enterprise
    - Open the report in a ReportClientDocument
    - Instantiate a CrystalReportInteractiveViewer
    - Get the report source from the ReportClientDocument and set it as source for the CrystalReportInteractiveViewer
    - Process the HTTP request to view the report
    Please let me know if you need any further info.

  • Error on server while trying to export a report into PDF using JRC (CR XI)

    This field name is not known.
    The error occurs only on the server deployed application, in localhost environment it works fine. So I guess it might have something to do with the server environment, but I can't figure it out. The table reports_selection and the field idReport are well presented in the database.
    The idReport(Number) is passed as a parameter to the report.
    In Select expert... I have the following  formula {table1.idReport} = {?idReport} and in Database expert... I have a join between table1 and reports_selection by idReport.
    Does anyone know what might cause this problem?

    Have you able to preview the report via the Central Management Console?
    When you upload the report template to the server, be sure to do a preview to make is sure its working there.
    It might be that your server is using a different DB Connection.
