  • Strange problem: ORA-01403: no data found when report has a sort

    Hi,
    I have a report which behaves very strangely but only for one particular user. The report runs fine when no columns are set as sort-by in the report attributes. As soon as I try and set a column to sort (any column, it doesn't matter) this user gets the error message:
    failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-01403: no data found
    appear where the report should be on the page. The rest of the page displays OK. No other users are affected. If I remove the sort then the report is OK for this user (unsorted though!)
    The report is a structured query with custom column headings, nothing unusual, quite basic. I have tried exporting and reimporting the page but it doesn't fix it. Same behaviour for this particular page in our test system as well.
    I could rebuild the page but I'd rather know what is wrong in case it happens to some other region.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,
    The reports engine stores the sort settings in the user preferences. This is done so that when you return to a report, it maintains the earlier sort settings. Like in your response to the HTML DB studio posting, you would keep your report sorted by "Created On" descending or ascending even when you come back another time. It's save to remove those preferences; all that's going to happen is that your users will see the report using the report's default settings the next time they go to that page. I will try to investigate this problem further, whatever additional information you can provide, will be helpful,
    Marc

    1.) Set the Error Stack 1403 to know exactly which SQL is failing:-
    SQL> alter system set events '1403 trace name errorstack level 3';
    Re-ran the datapump export to reproduce the error then disable the events.
    SQL> alter system set events '1403 trace name errorstack off';
    The trace file, oddly enough, shows that this is the failing SQL:

    I ran this SQL manually and I get:
    SQL> SELECT VALUE FROM V$NLS_PARAMETERS WHERE PARAMETER = 'NLS_CHARACTERSET';

    Any ideas as to why I'm getting the ORA-01403 when I run expdp?

    Hello,
    Your error looks like what is descibed into the Metalink Note 345198.1.
    But this note apply to 10.1.0.4 not to 11.1.0.7.
    So, you should open an issue to My Oracle Support.

  • ORA-01403: no data found on LOGICAL STANDBY database

    Hi ,
    Logical Standby issue :
    Oracle 10.2.0.2 enterprise edition .
    M Working on LOGICAL Standby since 1 yrs but still i havent got this ......................................
    I m getting countinuously no data foud errror on logical standby database .
    I found the table causing the proble(db_logstdby_events) and skipped that table and instanciated table using bwlow package:
    exec dbms_logstdby.instantiate_table (.......................................
    but when i start apply process on logical standby it again give no data found for new table :
    Even i tried to instantiate the table using EXPORT/IMPORT during down time but the same facing same problem .
    As much as i known abt the error that is :
    table1
    id
    10
    20
    30
    Now if sql apply process on logical standby tries to performe the update transaction(for example) as belows
    update table1 set id=100 where id=50;
    above query will not be completed cos it will never find the values 50 which is not in table .Thts why this error comming ..
    Now my worry is ... no users dare to change/make such changes on Logical standby .So if there is no changes in tables then sqll apply should get all the values to be needded for an update ......
    watingggg guyssss/......

    Troubleshooting ORA-1403 errors with Flashback Transaction
    In the event that the SQL Apply engine errors out with an ORA-1403, it may be possible to utilize flashback transaction on the standby database to reconstruct the missing data. This is reliant upon the undo_retention parameter specified on the standby database instance.
    ORA-1403: No Data Found
    Under normal circumstances the ORA-1403 error should not be seen in a Logical Standby environment. The error occurs when data in a SQL Apply managed table is modified directly on the standby database, and then the same data is modified on the primary database.
    When the modified data is updated on the primary database and received by the SQL Apply engine, the SQL Apply engine verifies the original version of the data is present on the standby database before updating the record. When this verification fails, an ORA-1403: No Data Found error is thrown by Oracle Data Guard: SQL Apply.
    The initial error
    When the SQL Apply engine verification fails, the error thrown by the SQL Apply engine is reported in the alert log of the logical standby database as well as a record being inserted into the DBA_LOGSTDBY_EVENTS view. The information in the alert log is truncated, while the error is reported in it's entirety in the database view.
    LOGSTDBY stmt: update "SCOTT"."MASTER"
    set
    "NAME" = 'john'
    where
    "PK" = 1 and
    "NAME" = 'andrew' and
    ROWID = 'AAAAAAAAEAAAAAPAAA'
    LOGSTDBY status: ORA-01403: no data found
    LOGSTDBY PID 1006, oracle@staco03 (P004)
    LOGSTDBY XID 0x0006.00e.00000417, Thread 1, RBA 0x02dd.00002221.10
    The Investigation
    The first step is to analyze the historical data of the table that threw the error. This can be achieved using the VERSIONS clause of the SELECT statement.
    SQL> select versions_xid
    , versions_startscn
    , versions_endscn
    , versions_operation
    , pk
    , name
    from scott.master
    versions between scn minvalue and maxvalue
    where pk = 1
    order by nvl(versions_startscn,0);
    VERSIONS_XID VERSIONS_STARTSCN VERSIONS_ENDSCN V PK NAME
    03001900EE070000 3492279 3492290 I 1 andrew
    02000D00E4070000 3492290 D 1 andrew
    Depending upon the amount of undo retention that the database is configured to retain (undo_retention) and the activity on the table, the information returned might be extensive and the versions between syntax might need to be changed to restrict the amount of information returned.
    From the information returned, it can be seen that the record was first inserted at scn 3492279 and then was deleted at scn 3492290 as part of transaction ID 02000D00E4070000. Using the transaction ID, the database should be queried to find the scope of the transaction. This is achieved by querying the flashback_transaction_query view.
    SQL> select operation
    , undo_sql
    from flashback_transaction_query
    where xid = hextoraw('02000D00E4070000');
    OPERATION UNDO_SQL
    DELETE insert into "SCOTT"."MASTER"("PK","NAME") values
    ('1','andrew');
    BEGIN
    Note that there is always one row returned representing the start of the transaction. In this transaction, only one row was deleted in the master table. The undo_sql column when executed will restore the original data into the table.
    SQL> insert into "SCOTT"."MASTER"("PK","NAME") values ('1','andrew');
    SQL> commit;
    The SQL Apply engine may now be restarted and the transaction will be applied to the standby database.
    SQL> alter database start logical standby apply;

  • Error with export | ORA-4063

    Hi all,
    I am facing an issue with export backup of oracle database version 10.2.0.1 on RHEL 5 server.
    export terminates with warnings and the export log shows following error:
    EXP-00008: ORACLE error 4063 encountered
    ORA-04063: package body "SYS.DBMS_CDC_UTILITY" has errors
    ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "SYS.DBMS_CDC_UTILITY"
    However, the tables get exported and this error is thrown only while exporting procedural objects and actions:
    DBA registry shows component OLAP and OLAP catalog are invalid.
    Alert log repeatedly shows the following errors:
    ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 42568
    ORA-04063: ORA-04063: package body "SYS.DBMS_LOCK" has errors
    ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "SYS.DBMS_LOCK"
    ORA-06512: at "EXFSYS.DBMS_RLMGR_DR", line 2907
    ORA-01403: no data found
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Have tried reinstalling OLAP by using the following method:
    deinstall:
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    ----> Remove OLAP Catalog
    SQL> @?/olap/admin/catnoamd.sql
    ----> Remove OLAP API
    SQL> @?/olap/admin/olapidrp.plb
    SQL> @?/olap/admin/catnoxoq.sql
    ----> Deinstall APS - OLAP AW component
    SQL> @?/olap/admin/catnoaps.sql
    ----> Recompile everything
    SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql
    reinstall:
    SQL> conn /as sysdba
    SQL> @?/olap/admin/olap.sql SYSAUX TEMP;
    Still OLAP and OLAP catalog are invalid.
    There are only 6 objects invalid under sys schema(including dbms_lock package) and 4 objects invalid under
    olapsys schema.
    Is this got something to do with sequences?
    However there is no issue on the application level and no complaints from users.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Rahul Singh.

  • Apex 4.1: Error processing session sentry function. ORA-01403

    Hi,
    I have developed an application in Apex 4.0. I've translated the application into one additional language, and set the language to be derived from the browser. On the 4.0 instance, this works as expected (changing the preferred language in the browser and reloading a page uses the translated app).
    I then deployed the main app and the translated app to an Apex 4.1 (runtime-only) instance. If I access the application with the browser set to the primary language (English), it works, but if I change it to the secondary language and reload the page, I get:
    Error processing session sentry function.
    ORA-01403: no data foundThis also happens if I try to access the translated application directly via the URL.
    (I'm not sure what "session sentry function" means; in my application I have a custom authentication scheme with a custom "authentication function", but I have not specified anything for "session verify function" -- which is close but not exactly the same as "session sentry function", so I am not sure if they are the same thing.)
    Anyway, as this works on Apex 4.0 and not on Apex 4.1, I wonder if it is a bug... ?

    Anyway, as this works on Apex 4.0 and not on Apex 4.1, I wonder if it is a bug... ?Pretty sure it's a bug.
    I looked at APEX_040100.WWV_FLOWS and noticed that the AUTHENTICATION_ID column was NULL for my translated application (app id 301), whereas the main application (app id 300) has a value in that column. (This appears to be a new column for Apex 4.1.)
    The export file for the translated app creates my custom authentication scheme:
    wwv_flow_api.create_auth_setup (
      p_id=> 1711018744328150.301 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset,So what I did to fix this was to run:
      update apex_040100.wwv_flows
      set authentication_id = 1711018744328150.301
      where id = 301;That solved the problem, although the question still remains: Why didn't this get set automatically when importing the translated app?

  • Pb importing already-existing pages - ORA-01403: no data found

    Hi,
    I get an issue when trying to import a page already existing on my target environment.
    The problem does not occur during the import, but when trying to edit the page, once imported.
    I get the following error message:
    Error: ORA-01403: no data found
    Note that this problem does not appear if I export/import the entire pagegroup, but only when exporting/importing
    one or several pages independently.
    Thanks for your help,

    WWV_FLOW_FILES is a view that will show different data based on which schema you are working in. If you do a:
    select * from wwv_flow_files
    from within the schema you are developing in are you seeing any data?

  • Additional language installed - ORA-01403

    Hello there,
    yesterday I upgraded APEX 3.2 -> APEX 4.1, this worked fine.
    Today I installed the additional language german. Now I get ORA-01403 when choosing language de in the development environment of the application. The error is the same if I set the browser language to english or german.
    This is what I did:
    1.) set environment:
    NLS_LANG=GERMAN_GERMANY.AL32UTF8
    export NLS_LANG
    echo $NLS_LANG
    GERMAN_GERMANY.AL32UTF8
    2.) start sqlplus
    3.) ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040100;
    Session wurde geändert.
    4.) @load_de.sql
    Any help is appriciated,
    thanks,
    Carola

    Hello again,
    in the first attempt I set the wrong environment AND I executed the wrong script:
    I took the script of <APEX3.2 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de instead of
    <APEX4.1 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de
    So now I deinstalled the language:
    changed directory to <APEX3.2 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de -> ran unload_de.sql script
    and installed it again:
    changed directory to <APEX4.2 software directory>\APEX\Builder\de -> ran load_de.sql script
    BUT I got a new error:
    After installation of the german language I was able to click the "Deutsch" (German) Button in the GUI but I was allways redirected to the Login-Page
    i am only able to login with my login/password even I used "English" for the language.
    I cannot login with German...
    as described here:
    Connot login into APEX 4.1 Workspace with German language
    The solution mentioned in that thread worked for me, too:
    sqlplus / nolog
    connect sys as sysdba
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040100;
    begin
    wwv_flow_security.g_security_group_id := 10;
    wwv_flow_security.set_internal_cookie_name;
    commit;
    end;

    Hi,
    I think there is a part of the stored procedure you did not displayed in your post. I think your issue is probably due to a parsed value from java. For example when calling a procedure from java and the data type from java is different than expected by the procedure the ORA-01403 could be encountered. Can you please show the exact construction of the call of the procedure from within java and also how the procedure possible is provided with an input parameter.

  • Forms application returns "ORA-01403 no data found" exception on Windows 7

    Hi everyone,
    I am currently involved in an application compatibility project for an O/S migration from Windows XP to Windows 7.
    We have a legacy Oracle Dev6i P18 Forms application that has been working perfectly on Windows XP for the last decade or so. When we installed the same application on Windows 7, it returned a pop-up error message with the text: "ORA-01403 no data found" when performing a certain operation (clicking on a Submit button in a specific form). The same operation works successfully on Windows XP displaying the message "Submit has been successful".
    This error is well documented and the solution involves adding an exception handler to the faulting SQL statement(s) in order to handle the ORA-01403 exception. Unfortunately, the application is composed of compiled forms (.FMX) and we no longer have the source code so I can't implement this solution.
    I ran a file comparison utility (WinDiff from the Windows SDK) and confirmed that all the files in the application folder and the Oracle Dev6i P18 folder are identical on both the Windows XP and Windows 7 systems.
    I enabled tracing in SQLNet.ORA by configuring TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT=SUPPORT (I know, too verbose) and other related settings on both systems and have uploaded the traces to my SkyDrive for public viewing:

    The traces show that the "ORA-01403" exception occurs many times on both Windows XP and Windows 7 systems as a result of various SQL statements being executed, for instance:
    SELECT TASK_ID,TASK_DETAIL_STATUS,ASSIGNED_DATE FROM TASK_DETAILS WHERE TASK_ID = :b1 AND TASK_DETAIL_STATUS = (SELECT ID FROM V_TASK_STATUS WHERE ABBREVIATION = 'PLANNED' ) FOR UPDATE OF TASK_DETAIL_STATUS,ASSIGNED_DATE
    UPDATE TASK_DETAILS SET ASSIGNED_DATE=NTMS_UTIL.GET_SERVER_DATE,TASK_DETAIL_STATUS=(SELECT ID FROM V_TASK_STATUS WHERE ABBREVIATION = 'ASSIGNED' ) WHERE ROWID = :b1
    ORA-01403: no data found.
    So the same error happens on both Windows XP and Windows 7.
    On Windows XP, the error is somehow handled, and does not cause the "Submit" operation to fail.
    On Windows 7, however, the error bubbles to the surface and is displayed to the user, thus halting the "Submit" operation.

    Thank you. I'm well aware that adding an exception handler is the classic solution to the ORA-01403 error. However, like I mentioned in my original post, I don't have the source code. All I have are the compiled .FMX forms so I can't implement such a solution:
    From my original post:
    This error is well documented and the solution involves adding an exception handler to the faulting SQL statement(s) in order to handle the ORA-01403 exception. Unfortunately, the application is composed of compiled forms (.FMX) and we no longer have the source code so I can't implement this solution.

    hi,
    my report is giving error REP-1401:'cf_1formula': Fatal PL/SQL error occured,
    ORA-01403: no data found
    There are two table emp1 and emp2 created from employees table from HR schema
    I have deleted some records from table emp2 where department id is 110
    main query is
    select employee_id, first_name, department_id from emp1
    now i created a foumula column
    function CF_1Formula return Number is
    dept number;
    begin
    select department_id into dept from emp2 where employee_id = :employee_id;
    return(dept);
    end;
    the above error is given when report is run. i tried
    exception
    when_no_data_found then
    dept:=000
    but problem is not solved
    i want to disply any number in this foumula column if the record is not found

  • PLSQL function body returning an sql report returns ORA-01403 No Data Found

    I am on APEX 3.1.2.00.02 and Oracle 10g.
    I am developing a report with SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query) type. But on running the report I am getting
    report error:
    ORA-01403: no data found
    Region Source
    declare
      qry varchar2(32767);
    begin
      --Procedure call
      my_pkg.get_query(qry);
      htp.p(qry);
      return /*select 1 from dual */ qry;
    end;
    Procedure
    PROCEDURE get_query (V_QRY OUT VARCHAR2)
    IS
      qry varchar2(32767);
    begin
      qry := ' select name
         , max(decode(to_char(service_date,''Mon-YY''), ''Jan-09'', value, null)) as "Jan-09"
         , max(decode(to_char(service_date,''Mon-YY''), ''Jan-09'', value, null)) as "Feb-09"
         from MY_TABLE
         group by name ';
      V_QRY := qry;
    end;
    The query will be enhanced later to add more months and year based on user parameters once I am successfull in running report on this.
    I wish to use Query Specific Column names. I have seen this suggestion from Scott in a number of threads to use /*select 1 from dual */ with query but not working in my case.
    Can someone please suggest what can I do to make it working?
    Regards,
    Amir

    Firstly, have you unit tested the procedure (namely, within the SQL Workshop, SQL*Plus, SQL Developer,etc, etc.) to see if it produces the right output in the first place?
    If you have, and the query string generated is valid, try assigning the output to a page item (thus allowing you to view it in the session browser) or even pass the procedure output into the debug window (with the use of the wwv_flow.debug function). This might reveal some state or session change which is causing it not to return.You might find this easier to achieve if you change from a 'procedure and out parameter' combination to a 'function returning string' approach.
    Alternatively, try re-creating the report in a new region - occasionally I've come across weird bugs with report regions which resolved themselves in this manner.
