Exporting 600MB results in jumpy video

When I export a largish video (7 minutes), I get a jumpy .mov file. The audio is fine. Only the video is jumpy. And I have a high-power system.
I've been using these expert export settings for a while, but up to now all my videos have been under 2 minutes in length. This one is 7 minutes long. Based on the export lengths of previous videos, this should export to a 600MB .mov.
I have a top-of-the-line computer, a new MacBook Pro, 2GB RAM. My DV file is on the internal hard disk, and I'm exporting to an external 500GB 7000RPM LaCie drive via Firewire.
I'm exporting a 7 minute widescreen video to 640x360 using H.264 at 24 key fps. I've tried both 1700 kps and automatic rate (high quality). I'm de-interlacing and allowing re-ordering.
I can export a few clips at a time just fine, but when I try to export the whole thing it seems to quit early, the entire video is represented, just with frames that are shown for much longer than they should be. Ten minutes into the export it'll say "24 minutes remaining," and then a minute later it'll be done.
I do have a still frame in there that I'm playing for 10 seconds, but I was able to export that along with the adjacent clips with no problem. When I go to export to iPod, I get a new dialog screen saying it first needs to render my "still/slow motion/reverse" clips. I don't get that exporting via expert settings.
Any suggestions on how I fix this? (I've rebooted, updated the OS, etc.) Is there a work-around? Maybe multiple exports, but then I'd have to concatenate them together for yet another export and further reduced image quality.
Thank you!
~joe

More information: That still frame was causing the problem! But I don't know why, and I still need it in there.
I tried shrinking the video dimensions down to nothing and reducing image quality, but none of it eliminated the jumpiness of the video.
But when I removed that 10 second clip I made from a still frame, suddenly the export came out clean.
I'm going to close this thread and open a new one asking how I play a still frame. Thanks!

      For Testing purpose, just converting the original within Adobe Media Encoder.
      Profile: same as Source
    1) The original source files play fine using any player, so the hardware of my test systems (3 computers) is ok
    2) When exporting the Video to H.264 the resulting video is jerky in Windows Media Player and Quicktime
    3) When converting the jerky result video again, but now into WMV, it plays fine
    The problem can be reproduced on all 3 machines.
    It seems to me that Windows Media Player and Quicktime enforce their own h.264 decoder which has problems playing Premiere Exports.
    These Players seem to play the file properly:
    - VLC Media Player
    - Media Player Classic Home Cinema
    - Adobe media player
    So how can one be sure that the Premiere h.264 exports are just fine and the only problem is on decoder side? However, I feel very uncomfortable not being able to play the h.264 files within Windows Media Player 12, which has uses the built-ind Windows 7 h.264 decoder.
    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Hello Harm,
    let me add my comment of another discussion:
    My concerns are about a)distribution and general b)compatibility.
    a) When videos are distributed most of the users will probably try to open the files with Windows Media Player. So it is not a good start to have fresh exported h.264 videos which won't run fine with the 'main' player on windows
    b) I am wondering if the Problems with Windows Media Player may also be a sign of a general compatibility issue of the h.264 video itself
    At least in case b) Adobe would have to look into this.
    And in general there maybe a bug in the MS h.264 decoder.
    Thank you

  • Can the author please send me an exported version using H.264 video codec

    Seems as thou I am having similar problems as other clients are having with movies. My computer guy asked me to ask you this question in the subject line. I have no idea what this means. I sent him a video, he has sound but no video, and he has tried multiple applications, but the results are the same. No video. So, I am suppose to ask the author to send you an exported version using H.264 video codec???? Please help get this resolved!

    So, you need to re-export it, this time choosing H.264. What software are you using?

  • Using Powershell Script Run simple query in MS Access 2007 and export the results of query to Excel

    Hi Experts,
    I have a Access 2007 DB file and 2 Big tables inside that (bigger than the size that can be easily handled by MS Excel 2007).
    My requirement is automate using powershell scripts the below things.
    1. Create a SQL query in Access DB and save that in access DB
    2. Run the saved query and export the result in excel sheet where I can create the charts and Pivots. Thanks in advance
    Prajesh

    Do you have to use the Access query, couldn't you just recreate the query in Powershell?  Here's a link with good info that references an existing script for querying an Access database:

  • How to export query results

    How can I export query results from sqlplus on the command line? Are there ways to specify the format such as CSV, TAB, XML, etc?
    I've seen one approach that involves creating a shell script and piping the output to a file:
    #!/bin/sh
    sqlplus user/password <<__EOF__
    set heading off;
    set newpage none;
    select f1, ',', f2, ',', f3 from some_table;
    __EOF__
    Then pipe the output to a file. Is there a simpler solution to this?

    Hi Jerome,
    I have gon ethrough your code again and there we are missing the destination plugin.
    We have to query the info store to get the disk unmanaged plugin.
    Below is the code
    IDestinationPlugin destPlugin = null; //Destination plugin returned by InfoStore Query
            IDiskUnmanagedOptions diskUnmanagedOptions = null; //Object returned by the getSchedulingOptions() method
            List listDestination = null; //List object to hold destination file location
            IDestination destination = null; //Destination Interface
            //retrieve the Scheduling Options and cast it as IDiskUnmanagedOptions
            //This interface is the one which allows us to add the file location
            //for the scheduling
              for(int i = 0; i< oInfoObjects.getResultSize();i++)
               oInfoObject = (IInfoObject) oInfoObjects.get(i);
               destPlugin = (IDestinationPlugin)iStore.query( "SELECT * from CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_PARENTID=29 and SI_NAME='CrystalEnterprise.DiskUnmanaged'").get(0);
              diskUnmanagedOptions = (IDiskUnmanagedOptions) destPlugin.getScheduleOptions();
            listDestination = diskUnmanagedOptions.getDestinationFiles();
              String dest = "c:\\";
            listDestination.add (dest + oInfoObject.getTitle()+".pdf");
              schedInfo = oInfoObject.getSchedulingInfo();
            schedInfo.setRightNow(true);
            schedInfo.setType(CeScheduleType.ONCE);
            //retrieve the IDestination interface from the SchedulingInfo object
            //use the setFromPlugin() to apply the changes we made to the
            //IDestinationPlugin object returned from the IStore
            destination = schedInfo.getDestination();
            destination.setFromPlugin(destPlugin);

  • What are the best export settings for a HD video in Premier Pro CS4?

    Hi!
       I've been having so much trouble with this issue and it's something that continually frustrates my boss. I have a HD video the settings for it are
    FPS 23.98
    1920 x 1080, then a few lines down it says 1408 x 792
    16 bit,
    2 channels
    48000 Hz
       What should the settings be when I make a new sequence?
                 When I look at it in the window in Premiere Pro I have to contantly 'shrink' the image to fit the window, is that something I should be doing or does it indicate the sequence settings are incorrect?
    But more importantly what should the export settings be? I exported a 4 minute long video and the size was 1 GB, I know that's too big.
    I need to export it without loosing any quality and export another one that meets the Youtube and Vimeo limits on size.
    Vimeo is 500 MB per week, sometimes I upload 4 videos per week. I think Youtube you can only upload 500 MB at a time.
    I need to get smaller sizes with loosing the least amount of quality possible AND the best export settings for quality, so I guess I have 3 separate questions-
    What are the best sequence settings for HD video?
    What are the best export settings for HD without loosing any quality?
    What are the best export settings for the size to come out around 500 MB with loosing the least amount of quality possible?
    Thank You!

    On the above thread I used the 5th anwer, and it's going to take about 7 hours to export a 4 minute video :/

    It Stands for "Coder Decoder."
    Your format is like a container for your video file. Certain containers can hold certain codecs and not others. Other containers can hold other codecs. Sometimes different containers can hold the same codecs.
    This might be a bad analogy but I'll give it a try.
    A coffe cup (container) can hold pretty much any liquid you drink, where a red solo cup (container) won't hold scolding water. So, the coffe cup would be your container of choice most likely because it has the most options for liquids (codecs). But, you might want a red solo cup for just a single crappy beer at a party (a moderate quality streaming video on the web). In that case, you don't need all the optoins of another container.
    In Premiere Pro CC H.264 is a Container and the Codec in one option. This has been streamlined for web distrobution of video to be played in browsers without things like Flash or special players.
    Were as if you choose the QuickTime Container there are over 40 codec optoins (at least on my machine with additinal ones installed) but you may run into an issue where your browser doesn't support QuickTime playback.
    I would say that your container is for compatability with players and your codec is taken into consideration when looking at the quality of the compression.
    Yesteraday I wrote a blog entery on Exporting from Premiere Pro and found that the MPEG-4 codec inside of the QuickTime container gave me much richer colors than the H.264 container/codec option.
    I posted the link before but here it is:

    Hi Lowstone and welcome!
    Are any of those audio files imported from iTunes?
    That would produce the symptoms you mention if the tracks were copy protected (Get Info in the file menu will tell you).
    The workaround is to burn those tracks to a CD, re-import them from that CD into iTunes, save them as AIFF files, and import them into iMovie when they should work fine.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello Yucky,
    what do you mean by
    the format of it export is not the same to the result of Oracle result areaDo you mean the output of a tool other than SQL*PLUS?
    To enhance the formatting of a spool file you can set
    SET MARKUP HTML ON
    SPOOL ONthis will add html markup to format the output as a html table which you can open in a browser or in excel.

    anyone can help me to do that ? Thanks so much

    Hello Sue,
    I just tried to export to excel with the esdev extension and got java.lang.NumberFormatException. I found the workaround at Re: Windows Multi-language env, - how do I set English for application lang?
    open the file sqldeveloper\jdev\bin\sqldeveloper.conf and add the following two lines:
    AddVMOption -Duser.language=en
    AddVMOption -Duser.country=USyet now my date formats in excel are 'american-style' instead of german. For example 01-DEC-01 so excel does not recognize it as date and therefore I can not simply change the format.
    When export to excel will be native to 1.1 perhaps someone can have a look at this 'feature'
