  • Can you export audio tracks as AIFF? I dont get it!

Can you only export audio files to iTunes??????
Is there a way to export the files as normal audio files?

    Ok, will do. Thanks!!!
So they don't let you set your own sample rates and such. That is pretty darn lame. Very limited control.

  • How to export audio track from iMovie '11

I found that the sound from the video recording of a live band worked pretty well for my purposes (listening for problems). But I don't need the video itself for some things. Is it possible to just grab the audio from the video and save it as just a sound file? I tried messing with iMovie but couldn't figure out a way yet.

You can detach the audio then copy and paste it around if you have other clips in the time line but if you want all the audio from a clip or group of clips put them in a project and do a custom QT export and export "Sound to AIFF file". Import that as an audio track in iTunes or drag directly on to another movie clip.

  • DVD DTS audio track to iTunes library

Over in the iTunes for Windows community, I added this issue to a similar question posed there.
Before I explain my challenge, I want to address some other postings that I came across in my search for an answer.  I noticed in a now-locked discussion that someone wrote that iTunes does not support DTS. This is incorrect. iTunes handles DTS files quite well, and many of us have many DTS sound files in our iTunes libraries, and play them either 1) through the optical port on our computers, or 2) through our Airport Expresses. Granted the optical output of those two routes must be connected to capable ports in a sound system that can detect and decode DTS data. It works. I have been enjoying it for more than a decade. And a note to the fellow who 'suspects' that Apple TV would also pass DTS – no it doesn't. That point is one of my significant complaints about the ATV – an inexplicable shortcoming, given that the Airport Express has long had the capability.
Now back to my current challenge. I have successfully extracted the DTS audio track from a concert DVD. How do I know I have been successful? VLC plays the file out the digital port of my MacPro into my sound system, which, in its display, identifies the encoding of the file. It is DTS, and sounds wonderful, naturally. How does one play the file to the digital port? In VLC, under the Audio menu, one finds, at the bottom, Audio Device, which leads to more choices. The only choice that will forward the pure DTS to the sound system is Built-in Digital Output (Encoded Output). VLC doesn't encode to DTS, it just doesn't decode by choosing this output device. So, what is the problem? iTunes will not accept nor import this file into its library. Obviously, there is more to the file than the song data and the file extension. I have tried the extensions that I have found on my existing DTS library entries (.wav and .aif). VLC seems to recognize the file for what it is regardless of the extension. Obviously, the file is somehow encapsulated, so I need to find a way to change the encapsulation to make it acceptable to iTunes. I've tried to have VLC export to .m4v, but that hasn't been successful.
I should add that this concert DVD came with a companion CD of the same concert. Unfortunately, the CD is standard stereo, and, yes, it is now in my iTunes library. However, it is much better to turn out the lights, sit back, and just listen to the music in full 5.1 surround without visual distractions. Be it the Police, the Moody Blues, Shania Twain (am I dating myself here?), or many others, DTS is... well, you should experience it for yourself!
I am looking for solutions / suggestions. Regards to all,  Brian
I should add that I am quite willing to describe the process of extracting the sound track once I have the final steps resolved - getting the track into iTunes.

This is the build in copy protection of you these mp3-players called iPods... when you unpacked it there had been a little message (iPod Mini, iPod Video an earlier iPods)
    (Don't steal music.)
That is still the reason why it is not possible to copy songs from your iPod back to iTunes, since all your songs should have been copied from that iTunes onto you iPod in first place ***....
So via build in AppleScript import commands you will not be able to hack that protection...
You can give macupdate.com or versiontracker.com a try to find the best tool do that job...

  • Exporting audio tracks as AIFFs/WAVs to a DVD?

    Hi all,
I am very new to fcp and trying to export the audio tracks (background noise, music, voices etc) from my completed edit, separately, in an uncompressed format to a DVD/CD. A file format like AIFF or WAV would be perfect. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Is it difficult? I have very little exp with final cut pro.
    Any help appreciated.

Set an IN and OUT point in the Timeline for the section you want to export. Go to File->Export->Using QuickTime Conversion. When the export window opens, choose AIFF from the format menu then select the specs from the Options menu.
I recommend using Toast for burning, but you can do it in the Finder as well. NOTE: if you want to format the CD as an 'Audio CD' you can also do that with Toast or with iTunes.

  • Exporting audio tracks

    Elements 7
is it possible to export individual audio tracks? for example if I wanted to just export the narration could I do this without all the other audio in my project exporting too?

Yes, in Export/Share, one can choose Audio Only, and then settings for Export.
To isolate your various Audio Tracks, go to Window>Audio Mixer, and choose Mute for all Tracks that you wish to exclude.
    Good luck,

  • Export audio track for third-party mixing

I want to export my FCE audio track so I can mix it using Cubase. All I can see to do is to export it as a Quicktime movie, but I think I need to retain the format as AIFF, or perhaps MPEG-4. What can I do?

Use QuickTime Conversion. Change to format popup to Sound to AIFF.

  • Exporting audio track to external editor

Is it possible to "export" or otherwise transfer an extracted audio track from iMovie 6 to an external audio editor such as Audacity. If so, how? I could do this with iMovie 4.

    sure, easy:
export/Quicktime/Expert Settings.. in the following dialog, you'll find in the drop-down menu 'aiff'.. which is the uncompressed audio-only of your current project ..

  • Cannot Export Audio Track to DVD

I've edited a video using Premier CS4. Wanting to burn a DVD of the video, I choose File/Adobe Dynamic Link/Send to Encore, then select the settings I want, and click Build. So far so good, but when I play the resulting disc it has no audio track. Yes, the audio track is on in the Premier project.
I tried exiting the programs and then re-opening. I also installed all updates.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    W Vought,
One thing to consider is that Encore is designed to produce DVD-Video discs. What you are looking for, it seems, is a DVD-Audio disc. Is that correct?
One way to sort of accomplish this would be to Export>AME just your Audio to a WAV, or AC3 file. Burn that to a data DVD. You could try to create a dummy Audio_TS and Video_TS folder structure, place your AC3 into the Audio_TS folder and burn with ImgBurn, Nero, whatever. The Audio_TS is for DVD-Audio discs. Then a DVD player *should* be able to play the Audio, if it has the capabilities.
Another workaround would be to just put Black Video on you VT 1 and the Export to Encore. DVD-Video needs to have Video of some sort - Black Video qualifies as Video.
Now, I do not do DVD-Audio discs, so do not know which authoring sofrware you'd use. Neil Wilkes, a MOD in the Encore forum, does this all of the time, as its his main business. I'll bet he'd have suggestions on what you need to do.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Editing and Exporting Audio Track Only

Is it possible to just edit and export the audio track from a project that contains video and audio? I turned off the video track, and was able to make edits on the audio track but when I export the edited audio track entire unedited audio track is exported.

That did it. I didn't have the audio timeline material selected as the active window.
    Many thanks.

  • Exporting audio tracks in FC X 10.0.6

I have a project with roughly 300 clips in use.
Synced audio, Voice Overs, Sound effects etc...
I've been asked to send all of the (audio) tracks to an Audio guy. But how?
I've read a bit about "assigning roles". Is this the only way to do this? And if so, can somebody give me the Sesame Street version of how to do this?
in example please use a few of the above mentioned clips....
    Thank you.
(I don't kknow what software the audio guy will use at this point...)

Xto7 will work only if your audio guy can import an XML file, and you'll have to supply all of the project/event folders with it.
Different DAWs read/write different files.  You really need to know what the audio guy needs.  I'd speak directly to him first.  If he's using ProTools, there is XtoPro which wil work great for you.  But you seriously need to speak directly to the audio guy about this.  That is normal proceedure.

  • Exported audio tracks are not starting from beginning of track

    I have GB '08.
I export recorded podcasts (i actually make language learning CDs using an external mic) so each track ends up at between 20 sec or say 2 mins, to an Itunes playlist. I may play a track, and then click on another, by double clicking as is usual in itunes to start a new track, EXCEPT that it starts the new track at the place it was last time when it was played, even if it is its first time played in itunes, but was listened to some point whilst in garage band.
so the tracks dont start at the beginning of the track but rather where they were left off when last listened too. This happens also on my ipod with those tracks and i have to manually drag a track's progress bar back to the beginning to hear it from its start.
This is a disaster for my product. Is it a bug or is it a setting? Please help urgently.
    Many thanks, Craig

Hi christoph, this is one of those headbangers.
the AAC and mpeg or exported as mp3 files both do it, which yes, is totally weird.
So, i can get the context menu, right clicking or cntl click, but what option is there to set it to new, as you suggest.
    Thanks for your efforts

  • Multiple versions of audio tracks in iTunes

I updated the ATV to "take 2" with no problems.
However the new data model of seamlessly splicing together the data on the ATV and in the iTunes library on the synced-from computer has bit me on the posterior. The problem is that I have 3 versions of each CD "cut" in my main iTunes library --
    1) Apple Lossless (ripped from CD) for the main machine,
    2) 128K AAC synced to the ATV and copied to my laptop,
    3) 64K MP3 mono (i.e. 32K effective) synced to my iPhone.
The "Music" list shows all 3 tracks. I manage this with smart playlists that select based on the encoding bitrate. To play music on the main machine I look at and play from my "bitrate_high" playlist. I sync the "bitrate_128" list to the ATV and the "bitrate_low" to the iPhone.
After the ATV 2 update if the main machine is awake and iTunes is running, which is what you
want for video, I see all 3 tracks in the music section. Select an album and it shows, and plays,
all 3 versions of each track. If you try to use playlists the selection mechanism in iTunes isn't
present -- i.e. you only see a list of tracks in the playlist and can't select based on artist or
album. My current solution is to sleep the main machine if I want to listen to music on the ATV.
That works, but is fundamentally broken.
Not syncing to the ATV and streaming from the main machine won't help -- the ATV will still see all the versions of each cut.
Am I missing some way not to "splice" the content from the synced-from iTunes library for music?
I'm perfectly willing to complain about this in a productive way to Apple, but I thought I'd see if anybody here had an illuminating or helpful comment or suggestion.
I like the ATV. I like that it is simple. But maybe it is either a bit too simple or depends on iTunes which has some fundamental conceptual flaws in a world with many sorts of devices that are synced with a single library.

    You're welcome.
