Exporting csv reports to repository
Dear Cisco Guru's,
We are currently testing Prime infrastructure 2.1. Is it possible to export CSV reports to an external repository ??
Apparently, Repository path points only to localdisk/ftp
What is told in the 2.1 pi admin book :
Off load backups and reports—You can save space on the Prime Infrastructure server by saving reports and backups to a remote server.
Many thanks,
Lieven Stubbe
Belgian Railways
This is correct, it has options for local disk and FTP because, currently PI supports NFS and FTP/SFTP.
NFS is usually mapped/linked/mounted on one of the local directory and hence you need to select that local directory which is linked to NFS server.
For details check document for Configuring the NFS backup Server.
-Thanks

Strange caching error in exporting a report to csv (AppEx v2.0)
We have just upgraded to v2.0. I am experiencing a problem exporting a report to a csv file. I don't recall this problem in v1.6.
What happens is that what gets exported is not the report that is on the screen.
I have a report that employs a simple on-screen filter to vary the content of the report. So, for example, to begin with I select Company A. The report for Company A is displayed correctly, but when I click the Export button the csv file contains just the message "no data found". So I close the csv file and select Company B in the report filter. The report for Company B is displayed correctly. When I click the Export button the csv file shows the report for Company A. And so on...
I'm guessing that this is some kind of obscure caching problem. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?This looks like a problem I heard many times before. I have had it as well in my reports.
If you are using page items to filter your report, you have to make sure you use a
computation for your items of type:
- select list
- radio button
- checkbox
- multi select list
and compute your items on load - before header. This means to set the items to a kind
of a default value they should have at the start. Using default values within the item
properties will not do the work. Once you set it up like that, you will have no problems
exporting your .csv.
One more thing. Exporting .csv is a standard feature of the ApEx reports. If you would
like to export directly into excel, without having to save the file and then care about
how to get it into different versions of excel, you might want to try out my package
for a direct export to excel. You will find it here for both - ApEx and XE:

Apex 3.0: export a report as .csv file without any Enclosed By character?
In Apex "Report Attributes page/Report Export" is possible to define the Enclosed By field.
The default Enclosed By by characters are a double quotation marks (" ").
Is there a way to export the report as .csv file without any Enclosed By character?
Example line format:
a) using default Enclosed By
"value1";"value2";"value3"
b) using ('') as Enclosed By
'value1';'value2';'value3'
c) using blank space as Enclosed By
value1 ; value2 ; value
d) without any Enclosed By character
value1;value2;value3
What can we do in Apex to export a report as .csv file with the line format example d)?
Thanks for your help.Hi,
There is no Out of the box feature in Apex to achieve this functionality. But what you can do is write a page process to generate the CSV that you want.
For this what I will do is on the first page where you press the Button it will call a PL/SQL page process which actually generates the csv. You can keep the existing report only for display purposes. Find the below process which generate the csv that you require.
begin
-- Set the MIME type
owa_util.mime_header( 'application/octet', FALSE );
-- Set the name of the file
htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="filename.csv"');
-- Close the HTTP Header
owa_util.http_header_close;
htp.prn('columnHeader1,ColumnHeader2,ColumnHeader3'||chr(13));
-- Loop through all rows
for x in (
Select column1,column2,column3 from table;
loop
-- Print out a portion of a row,
-- separated by commas and ended by a CR
htp.prn(x."column1"||','||x."column2"||','||x."column3"||chr(13));
end loop;
-- Send an error code so that the
-- rest of the HTML does not render
htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true; --You can leave out this line if you still want to display the existing HTML report.
end;
This will show a download box, so you can download the csv file. The page process should be called before header and the condition should be the button press. -
Exporting Cystal Reports into CSV format
Hi,
I wanted to export some reports in CSV format with following options checked in Crystal 2008:
These options are given under separated Values exports options:
1. Mode = Standard Mode
2. Isolate Report/Page sections and Isolate Group Scctions check boxes checked
I could not find properties in CR object to set as per above requirement in VB6 code.
I am searching these properties in ReportObj.ExportOptions
Can anyone please advise in this regard.
Thanks in advance.
Regards-
BhoopendraHi Bhoopendra,
The Report Designer Component (RDC) COM component has been retired with the release of CR2008. Using CR2008 in VB6 is not supported, and it's not expected to work.
The recommended upgrade path is to migrate to the Crystal Reports .NET SDK. You can find getting started information in the [.NET Development - Crystal Reports|SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio; forum.

When Export ssrs Report to CSV file runtime filters not working
The Runtime Filters not working when Export SSRS Report to CSV format
Hi PatilPriti,
As for my understanding, the filter worked fine when you preview the report,
but it did not work when you export the report to CSV format. I tried to export the report to CSV file on my side, and the data was shown as expected. I guess the issue is due to the parameter or filter. please try to export to Excel format to test again
and make sure you created the filter correctly. Please refer to the following
blog about how to add a filter in SSRS:
http://arcanecode.com/2010/07/12/adding-filter-parameters-to-sql-server-2008-reporting-services-reports/
If the problem is not resolved, i would appreciate it if you could give us
detailed description of your problem.
It’s better to provide the table structure and some sample data, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.
Thanks,

Can you make the CSV Report Export Filename a variable so that the user can enter the filename before exporting? Can a directory on the local PC be specified prior to exporting as well?
Paul PlattPaul,
You typically get a file download dialog when clicking on CSV export. The download dialog has a suggested file name, which can be overwritten and you can also choose the file download location.

Html codes in export of report as csv
Hi Experts,
My requirement is to download a report details as csv on the click of a link.
The steps i followed are
1. Created the report of type SQL Query (pl/sql function body returning sql Query) ; No user Interface template ; Report Template as 'Export: CSV'
2. Created an item, based on its value the above report would be displayed
3. Created a html region to contain the javascript which would set the value of the above item and then sumit the page.
Now the issue is on the click of the link as in the javascript, the page prompts to save the report content as csv. This CSV contains html tags along with it.
Can some one point me to the place were i am wrong ?
My APEX version is 'Application Express 3.0.1.00.07'
Thanks in Advance

Need to export OBIEE report in native excel format
Dear All,
Apologies if this issue has been discussed earlier in this forum. I am posting this afresh since I could not find a proper thread pertaining to this problem.
Here is a snapshot of my issue:-
While exporting a report in excel this exports this in mhtml format instead of native excel. As a result, the generated files are way bigger than expected and every day we are receiving multiple complaints from the end users. We tried to fix this by changing the messages files as mentioned in few blogs but could not make this work. Our current reporting system is on 11.1.1.6.
In some of the online blogs I read that this issue is supposed to be resolved in 11.1.1.7. Can any one please confirm if this is indeed the case? Also, if any one can advise of any other resolutions it would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance.
RegardsVbez1,
Thanks for your response.
The way we are working at the moment is :-
1. Ask users to download in .csv if they just need raw data
2. While storing/sending the .xls files we have asked them to save the file as a excel workbook
However no workaround could be achieved for the reports sent as excels by agents(clogging spaced in user's mailboxes) or actual download volume of the formatted excel reports (excel taking an awfully long time to open the files).
As you mentioned, I heard that this issue was fixed on 11.1.1.7. Since this version is released for more than a quarter now, I wondered if someone out there can confirm that this has happened really.

Tabular Report->Place it in a section in a dashboard->Report Links (Export Option turned on). When doing the export, I want to change the file name as the <Login Name>_<File Name>_<Time Stamp>.csv when doing the export into csv from the dashboard.

Yes and no.....I replaced the export dll for Excel with a newer one...the newer dll removed the error message but the layout of the exported crystal reports was screwed up...so i went back to older version. I think it may have something to do with the default speadsheet or tab name that Crystal Reports creates that SP3 for Excel doesnt like...If i recall...i ran into something similar when i was on Crystal 7 and upgrade to Office 2003.... -

The log file has no errors.
The repository owner is DBA.
The connection is ok.
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance
Paolo.Sorry for the log. I looked at the one at the bottom of the window, i didn't know of the one in the directory.
I purged the log and i tried again with an account with only connect,resource privileges.
At the bottom of the message you'll find the log.
The java.exe points refers to the one in the java directory of the data modeler (i downloaded the one with Java included).
Thanks for the answer

Separator problem after opening a exported CSV file in Excel
Dear experts,
After exporting a report to .CSV file from BEX browser, I opened this file with Excel. I found that "," is considered as separator, but not ";" which is by default the separator in CSV file exported.
For example, when i open the CSV in Notepad, i have:
"15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"
"15.07.2008";"E001";"No value, date, time"
When it is opened in Excel, I have
"15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"(Column A)
"15.07.2008";"E001";"No value(Column A) date(Column B) time"(Column C)
Is that a problem in Excel configuration? How to solve it (for example, set ; as separator)?
Thanks in advance!
Edited by: Xiaoxuan WU on Jan 23, 2008 4:00 PMHi,
Please try opening your .csv file in excel. I am assuming that all texts are in one column. Select this column, go to Data>Text to Columns. Set the checkbox to Delimited. Click on next. Set the delimeter to ; and the text qualifier to ". Click on next. Click on finish. Then save in another filename. Try opening this new .csv file in notepad and see if it has the format you needed.
Hope this helps,
