Exporting from Adobe Premiere using extendscript

Hi!
I'm trying to figure out how the exportTimeline() function works.  So far, I have managed to import files and add them to a sequence.  Now I want to export the sequence as a Quicktime movie.  Eventually, I want to be able to set start and end points for an export (i.e. export a work area, export a clip from the timeline, etc.).
I did try to use the function by passing in a path to a file name:
exportTimeline("somepath.mov")
I didn't get an error message, which is good.  I got a 'result:7' (not sure what that means).  I did not see any new files exported to the path though.
Thanks!

Ok I'm figuring this out.
Seems like the trick is to use Adobe Media Encoder to render out the final clips as quicktimes (or whatever format you want).
I have exported the project as a XML file.  Then I scraped the XML with Python and lxml to get the start and end points I want and wrote that data out as another XML file, which hopefully I can read back into Premiere with ExtendScript.  I will set the in and out points and render with Media Encoder.
Hopefully this will work!

  • Poor video quality when exporting from Adobe Premiere

Hey, I was just wondering if there was anyone here that could help me  with this problem I am having with Adobe Premiere Pro.
I have used it to edit a movie together with MOV video files from my  iPhone 3GS which are of decent quality but everytime I try to export it,  the video quality is degraded significantly from the original. I have  tried several different export options but none seem to do the trick.
Also, exporting with DivX just gives me an audio file with no video so I  have been unable to try that.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Exporting from Adobe Premiere CS5 into FCPX

    Hi,
I have been given a project in Windows Adobe Premiere CS5. What is the best way to import this into FCPX?
    Thanks

Export PPro's XML, run that through the utility app "7toX", open the resulting FCPXML file into FCP X.  It won't be 100%, but rarely is XML between companies software 100%.

  • Need Help Import Project from Adobe Premiere CS6 TO FCPX

Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to export a project from Adobe Premiere CS6 to FCPX.
    Many Thanks,
    Mat

I am trying to transfer a movie project I made on my work computer (MacBook Pro, iMovie '08) to my home computer (iMovie HD, iBook). I've transferred the files using a Lacie, but when I open iMovie HD on my personal computer, it does not let me open the project I desire.
As you have already found, iMovie '08 projects, as such, are not backwards compatible with previous versions of iMovie. iMovie '08's project basically consists of a list of instructions detailing how a project is to be exported while previous versions of iMovie actually rendered physical file segments ordered properly in a physical timeline reference file.
I can import, but not the whole file, it keeps putting items in the trash. I have exported Mobile, Medium, and Large files.
Basically you have two options. You can either import your raw footage (the Event clips) and "re-create" a project in iMovie HD or export your iMovie '08 project, complete with edits to an HD compatible format (e.g., DV or AIC/AIFF) and import this file into iMovie HD. Unfortunately, this latter approach will not allow you to "manipulate" your previous edits.
Basically, I want to be able to open the file in iMovie, in case I wanted to duplicate it or edit it.
As indicated above, you can import iMovie '08 shared/exported files to iMovie HD but you then have to edit them as source files. To remove a previous edit, you would literally have to delete it from your new project in order to add another.
I also want to be able to continue burning copies of this movie slideshow to DVD (I created a DVD project using iDVD).
Previously authored and burned DVDs can be copy-burned by applications like Toast or used to create stored "image" files that can be used to burn new DVDs on an as needed basis in the Mac OS "Burn" folder or using the Disk Utility application. In fact the "image" file can also be created for this purpose from within iDVD.

  • Are 'Archived' projects in ver. 12 openable in ver. 13? ie. from Adobe Premiere bundled as Elements and Premiere.

Subject: Are 'Archived' projects in ver. 12 openable in ver. 13? ie. from Adobe Premiere as bundled in  Elements and Premiere, their mid-level product.
Can version 13 open up a version 12 archived project?
How about vice versa? Have to be in a couple cities and have different version installations in different locations.
Any insight? Support's closed and I'm heading out of town today, will need to use the 'other' version.
    Thank you.

The ability to work natively with AVCHD files was not added until version 10, Michiel. So you'll still have to render while you work in version 8.

  • HT5918 Playback screen flickering from Adobe Premiere Pro

When I use a secondary screen as a playback screen from Adobe Premiere Pro it flickers. Horizontal lines jump around and the desktop background occasionally appears. Tried to use the HDMI-output for live graphics on a television broadcast, but it could not be done because of this. Also the thunderbolt-output behaves like this.
    Anyone have a solution?

I previously had PS CS5 Trial installed but removed it using both Control Panel Programs and deleting all files from the CS5 directory on Program Files.  I then installed a purchased product from Adobe disc using the serial number on the case.  But when I try to launch it, I get a screen headed Photoshop CS5 Extended Trial.  It asks for the serial number and says that my trial has expired.  It rejects the serial number from the Adobe case saying "This Serial Number is not valid for this product".  It thinks that I still have the expired Trial Version installed.  How do I convince it (the program) that the Trial Version is long gone and the currently installed product was installed with a valid and accepted serial number????

Let me know how it goes. Go into your Adobe account and register your serial number asap.

  • Change .mp4 Icon on published files from Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014

When I export my Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 file, to a .mp4, the thumbnail icon of the final file doesn't pick up the first frame. (which is a still shot, title shot). Instead, it picks up the first frame of the first video clip at about 5 seconds in.
How can I set the this to pick up the first frame?
I can upload the file to YouTube, and change the custom thumbnail fine, but when the video is embedded on a page, it pulls the this same icon instead of the desired first frame.
    Thanks for helping!

I contacted Adobe customer service and they directed me here.
They told me that they would transfer the chat to the appropriate group but ended up giving me this community forums link.

  • Importing and exporting from cc premiere pro is very slow

importing and exporting from cc premiere pro is very slow, the system has i7 processor and memory is 64 gb and has internal raid storage. what could be the issue.

If you would like to test the tuning and setup of your Premiere installation go to our Premiere Pro BenchMark PPBM, the Instructions page has the download file.  This single download can test Premiere 6, 7 or 8 with the identical benchmark.  We maybe able to tell you why you are having problems.

  • Exporting from FCP for use with PC

    Hey all,
Trying to deliver a high-med quality 8 minute video from FCP for use with a PC. I've tried exporting both a .mov and .avi using DVCPro50, but neither are readable through the PC. Best I can get is sometimes audio will show up. Does anyone have a good solution for exporting from FCP for use with a PC?
    Thanks again for your help!

I don't think DVCpro50 codec is available on a PC. I think panasonic has a special license with apple only, so you need to try a different codec for the avi.

  • Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?

Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?
I have a file created by digitizing an 8mm film at a rate of 24 fps. I would like to create a downloaded movie at a frame rate of 15 fps.  The Export using Quicktime option seems to provide that capability but the resulting file has the same duration as the original 24 fps file.  How can I get the exported movie to be slowed down?

    joegez,
There is a feature you can use to slow down the video. In the project, move the mouse pointer over the clip, then click the gear icon. That brings up the Inspector. Click the Clip tab. Then you will see a feature there called Speed. Move the slider to the left to slow down the clip. Or you can enter a percentage in the box on the right.
Hope this solves the problem for you.

  • Upgrade from Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 to the latest version

I purchased few years ago Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and enjoying it since.
Recently I purchased a new camcorder outputing MP4 and AVCHD video formats which cannot be read by Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5.
    What are my options?
Is there a path to upgrade from Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 to a version which can read MP4 and AVCHD video formats?
    Philippe

There are two solutions for you and neither of them offer any discount for already having version 1.5 since it was released over 10 years ago.
You can atill purchase Premiere Pro CS6 (which will never, ever, be upgraded) and have it for a one time price, or, you can simply subscribe to the Creative Clould and get the latest and greatest Premiere Pro CC.
To sign up for one product is $19.99 per month, and to sign up for all of them is $49.99 per month. That is just about every Adobe program from Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, all the way through to Acrobat Pro.

  • How do you export 4 discrete mono audio tracks with video from Adobe Premiere Pro 4/Adobe Encoder?

I've posted this question in different terms a few times and have not had an answer.  I can't find the answer on the Premiere Pro support site either (which makes me think that a simple solution doesn't exist)
We use adobe premiere pro 4.  We capture DVCAM tapes with 4 discrete audio channels.  When we export the video using adobe encoder, the result is stereo tracks with the discrete audio channels mixed together which is completly useless to us.  When I select Mono for the output settings, two channels of audio are mixed into one audio channel.  Also useless.
When capturing the clip, we always use the mono timeline and modify the clips to mono. We can edit the discrete audio channels but when we export the video, the audio is mixed down.
this is the problem.  Each of our  4 audio channels contain a different language of dialogue.  When exported, these 4 get mixed down to 2 mixed channels blending of course the language.
Can Premiere Pro 4 export discrete mono audio channels?  How do you do it?
Does version 6 have the ability to export 4 discrete mono channels?

    Hi Steve,
Important info is missing from your post - what format are you wanting to export to, and for what purpose? We need to know how the exported file is intended to be used. Who's going to view it, using what gear? Is it for another editor to work with? End user viewing?

  • Exporting prores files from adobe premiere on a windows 7 PC

Does anyone know if Media encoder can be set up to encode to Prores files.
If not how can I save edited prores files on my Adobe premiere timeline to a prores file for distribution.

AFAIK, You can only export to Proress if you are on a Mac.
On Windows you have to export to a lossless format and then use a converter.
