Exporting sequence only resulted in first video track

I recently exported a sequence in PP CS6 that had two video tracks. The second track just had some Picture In Picture (PIP) shots. When I exported the sequence into a an .mp4 file, only the first video track was exported. Non of the PIP's from the second video track showed up on the new .mp4 file. Does any body know what may have caused this. I imagine it is something simple as I heve exported many videos with multiple tracks with no issues before.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your feed back. I imagine it would be something as simple as that as it seemed to be working fine for me last week. I am new to the software so it is possible that I dissabled the second track without even noticing it. If this would cause the second video track to not show up on an export file then that is probably the problem.
How would I confirm if a particular video track is enabled or disabled? Is it the button that looks like an eye that you enable/disable to view or not veiw the track in the program monitor, or is it a different toggle on/off button?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

  • "Offline editing" only linking the first video?

Hello. I'm trying the called "offline editing", which is making high resolution files offline and linking them to lower resolution versions. The problem is: I make the files offline, go to link them and Premiere asks for the first file of the list (which is normal as I've seen on tutorials) but then it only links to this first file - so only this first file is linked to its lower resolution version, remaining the other ones I selected as original. I've seen a couple of videos showing this process and it doesn't seem too complicated so I don't know what I could be doing wrong.
All the lower files are with the exact name and format as the original ones, only on a different folder. I'm working on Premiere CS6.

    Hi,
I am so awlfully sorry. I was really careless in how I miss that method...
    Thanks....

  • My preview and exports now only play audio, no video

I was working in my timeline last night and suddenly lost all video preview.  I still ahve audio but I can't view the footage.  If I export the project it is blank also.
I had been working with it for a few hours before the issue occured.

+I can view most video podcasts but there are a few that I can hear the audio, but there is no picture, except for some flashing colors mostly purples and greens. They do this in iTunes and Quicktime.+
With those symptoms, the first thing I'd try is the "Disable Direct3D acceleration in QuickTime" section from the following document:

  • Exporting MPEG 2 files with audio & video tracks COMBINED?

I want to post a film on Google Video. I'm told they like MPEG2 files, but with the audio and video combined.
How can I create an MPEG2 with the video and audio combined?
I've also been told I can change the .m2v extension to .mpg after I've encoded, without causing problems. Their 'uploader application' doesn't like the .m2v extension.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Compressor's standard mpeg2 export presets are set up to create separate audio and video files. Changing a m2v extension to mpg does nothing. You still have a file with only video.
However, deeper in Compressor is the means to create muxed (mixed audio and video) files. Do a search here, it has been discussed a few times.
Still, why not send them an mpeg4 file?

  • How to merge video tracks

    Hi,
I want to combine 2 m4v files into 1 (2 part movie), which I have successfully done in Quicktime Player Pro 7. Although when I play it in itunes, it only plays the first video track and the rest of the movie goes to a black screen. The second track which contains the second half of the film is not played.
Is there a way to combine Video Tracks, Audio tracks and Text Tracks?
    Thanks

Unfortunately, this is normal when the video resides on two separate tracks.
Is there a way to combine Video Tracks, Audio tracks and Text Tracks?
Only if the video properties are exactly the same (e.g., encode, normal, and current display dimensions, frame rate, PAR value, etc. are all exactly the same) since the video tracks must be merged to the same track. AAC audio usually is not a problem but if secondary AC3 tracks are present, it usually forces all audio and video tracks to be separated. Also, if you intend to merge the chapter/text tracks, they should be actively selected since otherwise, only the primary (first chapter) track is copied/contained in the target file.

  • Changing opacity in an adjustment layer to affect just one video track

    Premiere Pro CS6
    Hi,
I have a sequence of images in one video track that creates an animation and I've added an ultra key effect to remove the background of every image one by one (not sure if there was a better way to do this but anyway). Now I want to introduce this animation slowly with an opacity change but I can't seem to make it work. I've tried adding an adjustment layer and changing the opacity but this didn't work, I only want to change the opacity of this animation, not the other video track as well. So then I added a transform effect to the adjustment layer. I adjusted the opacity within this transform effect in this adjustment layer but I can't seem to make this work well either.
I've tried exporting the animation as a separate file so that I can bring it back to my project as one clip, but I'm a bit lost as to what kind of file to export it to. I tried an AAF file but that didn't load into my main project at all well and I had to force PPro to close.
    Thanks.

Make your animation in its own sequence.
Then bring that sequence into the EDIT SEQUENCE.  ( a Nest)

  • Can't Rename video tracks in Bootcamp

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 on my Macbook Pro on the Windows 7 bootcamped partition. I try to rename my video tracks by right clicking (or control clicking for that matter) but all that happens is they become highlighted or unhighlighted (or nothing if the track is locked). My right click works for other applications as well as other parts of Premiere (renaming the sequence, etc) but not the video tracks. How can I fix this?

Make sure that you are Rt-clicking ON the Track Name in the Track Header. Otherwise, you will just Target the Track. Depending on your screen rez, you might have to be very exact with cursor placement. It can be rather like finding the vertical zoom handles, between Tracks - a pixel hunt!
[Edit] Just tried this in PrPro 2.0 (obviously on a PC), and the cursor position was not anywhere near as critical, as I suspected. Anywhere in the Header got me the Rename option. Guess that I always did it right on the Track Name, and made an incorrect assumption. Sorry for that.
I've not heard of Bootcamp loosing the Renaming capabilities, but have to admit to being a PC-only guy.
    Good luck,

  • Prem El 7: Previewing individual video tracks

    Hi All,
I am new to Prem Elements 7 and have been spending a lot of time on my first project.
Some simple things are holding me up and I can't resolve with the Help centre.
I have 3 video tracks stacked in the timeline.
A key problem is how to select and preview in the monitor panel each video track.
As default, the monitor will only preview the top video track in the stack. So for me, it will preview track 3.
But I want to be able to switch between video tracks and view the content of each track in the preview monitor to help with editing decisions.
    Can anyone help please?
    Many thanks.

    Mike
You can do as SG suggests in that you double click the video clip on Video Track 1, 2, or 3 to bring up its Preview Window.
But, consider the following when and if applicable:
    a. staggering the clips of Video Track 1, 2, 3 (train arrangement) and then clicking above the Timeline to move/direct the Timeline Indicator to the video clip location to view that clip in the Edit Mode Monitor.
    b. if you wanted a before/after, doing a split screen effect where you drag the Crop video effect (Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Crop) into the clips and use the Edit Efffect to crop the clips to display side by side in the Edit Mode Monitor....if find, more space to do that with 16:9 project.
As has been stated, if there are no transparencies in the clip in Video Track 3 and you are not adjusting Opacity, all that you are going to see is what is on Video Track 3 in the Edit Mode Monitor.

  • Multiple video tracks available???

I am gradually moving over to FCE from Media100. In one of my earlier post on this forum, I wrote that I need to work on several (4-5) timelines at the same time in one project. I edit documentary work and need this flexibility in developing ideas and different sequences to select the best one. In Media 100, infinite 'programs windows' can be opened within the same project
I went to an Apple demo; someone suggested I create different project names. Won't work for me. I need to refer to numerous sequences at a fast pace instead of closing out and opening a new project just to see a 45 second sequence, reopening, etc....
I was informed on this forum that multiple timelines could be nested, but I dont understand this or how this is done. Is there only one video track in FCE? Would these different 'trial' sequences be made up on one video track in a differenet track location?. I see that audio has numerous tracks. Does video has this too?
    How is video nesting done?
    Thanks.
    Billp

You can have as many sequences as you want in a single FCE project. You can have multiple projects open at the same time. Any sequence can have 99 tracks of video and 99 tracks of audio. By default, though this is user pref you can change, a sequence is created with one video track and four tracks of audio.
You can have as many sequences as you want open at the same time in the timeline window. You can pull the sequence from the timeline window so you effectively have multiple timeline windows. Your screen will get pretty cluttered pretty fast though.
Nesting simply means putting one sequence inside another. There are a number of ways to do it. The simplest is to drag one sequence from the browser into another sequence.

  • Snow Leopard iTunes 10.5 will not play multiple video tracks in QuickTime .MOV files

I recently discovered that Snow Leopard iTunes version 10.5 won't play multiple video tracks in a QuickTime .MOV file.
Both video tracks appear and play correctly when playing the file in:
    - QuickTime Player 10 or QuickTime Player 7.7 on the same Snow Leopard machine
    - iTunes 10.3.1 on another Snow Leopard machine
    - iTunes 10.5 on Leopard or Windows 7
So I think the problem is iTunes 10.5 on Snow Leopard (although I haven't been able to test iTunes 10.4).
First test file is two 640x480 video tracks side-by-side (total dimensions 1280x480):
    http://160.94.17.23/demo/two-video-tracks-1280x480.mov
All I see is the first (left) video track, and not the right one.  iTunes "Get Info" command incorrectly reports the video dimensions of the file as 640x480.
Second test file is two 640x480 video tracks played one after another (duration of 10 seconds each):
    http://160.94.17.23/demo/two-video-tracks-640x480.mov
All I see is the first video track, and although it reports the correct file duration (20 seconds), the second video track never appears -- it simply freezes on the final frame of the first video track for the last 10 seconds.
Anyone else see similar behavior?  Unless I'm missing something, I suppose I should submit this as a bug to Apple.

I have the same problem, i tried re-installing, converting it to AVC H264 but none seems to work so far

  • Exporting multiple video tracks as 1 file with different effects on each track.

I am currently trying to export 3 video tracks as 1 mp4.
Each track has exactly the same footage, but with different effects to achieve a certain aesthetic.
When I view the sequence it in premiere all 3 tracks are displayed correclty.
The exported version appears to only export the uppermost track, track 3.
Track 2 and 3 have opacity set to 47%.
Track 1 opacity is set to 100%.
I have tried exporting a test project that has multiple layers and there was no problem.
I have NOT tried exporting a test project with exactly the same opacities and effects, as it's a bit time consuming. I will do so if I can't get a stisafctory solution from the forums.
The problem, I believe, is down to the layering of effects. In this case on track 3 I have procamp, which is boosting the red in 1 layer. This is the image I get once the final piece is exported - track 3's.
    So..
How do I get the effects of each layer to show properly in the export?
    and
Why is the exported version missing tracks (or the effects of tracks) 1 and 2?

You didn't answer probably the most important question: whether you're using hardware or software Mercury Playback Engine (MPE). However, since you've set Maximum Render Quality on, it's largely irrelevant.
When you're using hardware MPE or have the MRQ flag set for your export, rendering is performed with linear color. Linear color processing affects how color channels and alpha channels are composited--anything less than 100% opacity is subject to linear color processing. Check out this article for more information on linear color/linear light: Linear Light - Artbeats
Since it sounds like you're seeing the results you expect in the Program Monitor, but not export, I'll wager you're not using hardware MPE. Only by disabling the Maximum Render Quality flag on export will you be able to get results that match what you see in the Program Monitor (within reason, of course). The only way you could see the effects of linear color within Premiere would be to either use a qualified GPU that enables hardware MPE, or go into your Sequence Settings and check the "Maximum Render Quality" option and then render previews.
Please let me know if that helps resolve the issue, or at least provide a little insight into the problem.

  • CS3, exporting to tape has problems with more than two video tracks

Well, not quite, but that's the best I could do in the subject line.
I record multiple performances and edit scenes from among them.  At times, this results in three or four video tracks on the timeline at once.  Each track is 100% opaque, so only the top Enabled track shows.  By Enabling or Disabling the various tracks, I can get the sequence I want.
And the sequence plays back fine in the Monitor window.  But when I try to Export it to tape, as soon as I get to such a place, the image hiccups around the same small number of frames (think of the video equivalent of an audio sample).
It's not the number of video tracks.  I can add Image Mattes on a third video track operating on the two below.  I can add any number of titles on different tracks.  They need to render, but then they export to tape perfectly.
What's different about three or more .avi tracks, even when they are Disabled?

Thanks, Jim, for your reply to this and other threads.  (Warning:  I had two other questions — been saving them up for awhile — that I'll post shortly.  It was too late already last night).
    > AVIs need to be "read" from the hard drive and can create a bottleneck depending on certain conditions.
Agreed, but unless there is partial opacity in the top Enabled track, only one track at a time is exported.  And in the cases I cited, the unused clips were Disabled.  No need for Premiere to read them at all.  I assume the state of each clip is part of the Project.
Ah well, I was only curious if I was missing something obvious, or perhaps it was a known bug that would be addressed.  Apparently the additional resources needed for tape export push Premiere over some edge.  Remember, I can watch (even Preview) the sequence in the Monitor window without seeing this artifact.
    > Render before exporting to tape is SOP.  Go with that.
Naturally.  And I do.  And if I didn't, Premiere would do it for me automatically before opening the Export to Tape window.
Thanks again.  On to the next thread.

  • Export Mpeg4 to Ipod results in no video

When I use the export a Mpeg4 video to Ipod option in Quicktime Pro the resulting file has audio but no video.

I used the Mpeg4 to Ipod selection.
There is no "MPEG-4 to iPod" export option in QT Pro. There are, however, "Movie to iPod", "Movie to MPEG-4", and "Movie to QT Movie" export options in QT Pro. Since the first possibility has no user options which would normally interfere with your video playback, it is necessary to know the video format of the source file you are attempting to convert. In the case of the latter two options, it is possible to accidentially "turn off" video conversion and it is necessarry to know more about the specific workflow you used.
The Mpeg4 file plays fine in Quicktime 7 pro
I am still confused as to whether it is the source file or the target file that "plays fine in Quicktime 7 pro." The reason I am asking is to eliminate the possibility that you may have started with an MPEG-4 file and used the "None" encode option thinking this would "pass" the original video track to the target file to save conversion time. If that was your original intention, then the "Pass through" option should have been used instead. On the other hand, I can interpret your answer as meaning the the target file producerd in QT Pro plays fine in that player but does not play the video in other players, online/in browsers, or on the iPod in which case there may be some sort of software conflict invloved here.
