Exporting/sharing to MJPEG codec

I hope that this has not been covered before, I've searched around and am getting more confused by the minute.
I am using OSX 10.6.5 with a built in iSight camera. I have iMovie 09 v 8.06, and iDVD v 7.04.
I would like to save a movie made using the iSight camera and iMovie in Motion Jpeg format so that it can be viewed on a Sony Digital Photo Frame. Is this possible or do I have to buy a conversion tool?
I am a complete novice as far as iMovie and Idvd are concerned in fact this the first time that I have tried to use them.
Many thanks
Andy

You're welcome, Andy.
Thanks for that link. I did not see it on the US sites.

  • PREMIERE PRO CS5.5 Gamma problem while exporting project to mjpeg A or B

    Dear Sir,
I'm in a big ****. I've directed and edited 1h documentary for Finnish television, also, the technical specs requested by the TV Channel is all production Broadcast masters must be encoded with Apple ProRES codec or MJPEG A or B.
As i'm working on PC (win7), the ProRES codec doesn't exist on PC system, so i've done the export to MJPEG. The problem is i have a different gamma level when i watch the final export with Quicktime or VLC. Of course i can adjust the level in those players, but it doesnt effect the file. When i import the Qt file into a Premiere sequence, the gamma level is still **** and different from my original level i have from my timeline and preview window. If i export the project to H264 1920x1080p25, then the gamma is perfect with Qt, VLC and WinMedia player. But the TV station don't wanna work with H264. Deadline is on next monday, and i can't send a Qt MJPEG file with wrong gamma !!!Any chance to find a solution to fix it ??? After reading different forum, i can see this problem exist since many years and never been solved.
    What can i do ??
    Denis.

Things is my prpject includ few effect plugins i bought, so what ever i could find a mac, not your i could export xml project to finalcut with plugins it dont have

If it were me, I wouldn't encode to MJPEG.
So as to encode to ProRes on Windows you can utilise any solution based on ffmpeg/ffmbc or better yet find a Mac with Final Cut or Compressor installed for delivering critical work.

  • Mjpeg codec

Hi, I am trying to export a video in Quicktime with the mjpeg codec but it is missing from the video codec list. Can anyone help me?
    Kind regards
    Suzie

Interesting that you'd ask a question about an Apple application in an Adobe forum.
That being said, you MUST have QuickTime 7 Pro version on a Macintosh computer or use MPEG Streamclip.
If you insist on QT7 you will need to re-enable the codec using the Terminal app and enter the following command-
         qtdefaults write LegacyVideoCodecs AppleMotionJPEGA enabled

  • Use Compressor to export to AVID DNXHD CODEC

    Hey all,
I posted this question at the CreativeCow FCP forum - and than I thought maybe its a COMPRESSOR Forum question - so here it is:
I have installed AVID CODEC PACK LE
Currently I use FCP to export to DNXHD and its working OK (but slow).
I wanted to know if it is possible for me to use COMPRESSOR to export to AVID DNXHD CODEC.
I need it because a lot of times I need to export to this codec (for AVID System that does the Promos)
And I don't want to use FCP for that because I want to keep editing While I'm converting.
If Compressor can't export to DNXHD can I use QUICKTIME TO EXPORT TO DNX HD?
    Thanks!

Create a new Quicktime Movie in Compressor. Open the Inspector window and click on the settings button next to "Video." Then click on the Compression Type pulldown menu and scroll up to the Avid section and choose "Avid DNxHD."
I've included a screen grab of what this looks like. http://www.box.net/shared/hzblfnsuu6

  • Exporting (sharing) just a single scene in the middlw of many scenes?

Exporting (sharing) just a single scene in the middlw of many scenes?
I have just imported a 15 minute clip of some pets
I have split it into 7 scenes
scene 3 is of a dog while all the others are of rabbits
Is it possible, I haven't found a way yet, to export (share), the dog scene on its own to an mpg file and then remove then dog scene and export all the rabbit scenes into a separate mpg file?

    Harry,
For more info on the WAB (Work Area Bar), see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3961685#3961685
It is a very useful tool, and can be used for a few other things, beyond just Export/Share.
    Good luck,

  • Is there a way to make the MJPEG codec for my camera compatible with Lion?

    The company states:
"Currently, the MJPEG codec is not compatible with Mac OS and the frame rate of this model will be slower on Mac OS systems."
Does this mean that the language the microscope camera (DinoLite) speaks is not understood, and cannot be translated to be understood, by OS X?  Is it like this is a custom dialect of MJPEG codec that would have to be designed to speak to OS X?  Or, is there an App for that?  Thanks!

A codec is a coding format for media. MJPEG is one such for video.  If your computer doesn't have a codec to decode the video component then it cannot play it.  If it is some obscure third party codec then it is possible the makers don't care about Macs and only made a PC version.  Reading about mjpeg it looks like it is an old codec which has had Mac support for quite some time, but it is possible it is some special variant. The Dino-Lite makers don't provide any details on their site.
...and the frame rate of this model will be slower on Mac OS systems.
that's because the highest frame rate feature uses the MJPEG codec which isn't available on Macs so for Mac use you will have to use a format that only works at lower rates.
You could always throw the general third party Mac codec collection at it and see what happens.  In addition to MPEGStreamclip try the Perian set of codecs and VLC player.

  • Flicker showing up in exported videos with various codecs

I am exporting videos using various codecs and all of them are showing a flicker occasionally that is obviously not in the original footage or in the editing footage. The flicker is a brief one-frame looking jump to black. The flicker only seems to occur viewing it on the web. Viewing the same file on my system using "Preview" (Mac OS X) produces the same flicker. However, watching it using the full QuickTime viewer does not show the flicker.
The footage was shot using a DSLR and is from a Pentax K7 and is 1280 x 720, 25 fps.
Edited footage in Premiere CS6 looks fine. I am using export settings for 720p from H.264 for YouTube, Vimeo and straight HD 720p at all three available frame rates (23.976, 25.0 29.97). I have also exported using QuickTime codecs at HD 720p, H.264
Here is a link to two examples of the videos with the flicker probelms. One flick occurs in the first one in several places, the first one right at the beginning as the fade-in is still occurring, but occurs in both videos throughout occasionally.

Any idea as to what is causing this and hot to fix it?
    Thanks.

Bad form putting QuickTime's on the web.  This requires unwanted plug-ins to be required for viewing.
    Use MP4 instead.

  • Exporting/Sharing Custom XMP metadata schema not possible?

I've written a Python script which automatically encodes Quicktime files which I've mastered out of Premiere Pro CC with embedded custom XMP metadata (created using "New Schema" in the Metadata Display panel). I'm using the embedded custom metadata to drive the Python script (e.g. "Spot Title", "Client Name", fields etc etc), which encodes the source QT file to several different formats, based on the delivery specifications of various local TV broadcasters which the encoded files will go to.
Everything about the XMP metadata entry/writing/parsing is fantastic. My only hitch is in the exporting/sharing of the custom metadata schema which I created for this purpose. I would like to roll the schema out to the other editors in our facility, so that they can also enter the XMP metadata on their own systems when they export out master timelines from Premiere.
But unless I'm missing something, I can't figure out a way to "share" or export my custom schema for use on another system. Is this not possible in Premiere Pro CC?

There's no feature for exporting and importing custom schemas, but it's entirely doable. Here are the path to the custom schemas
    MAC: Macintosh HD ▸ Users ▸ <username> ▸ Library ▸ Application Support ▸ Adobe ▸ XMP ▸ Custom File Info Panels ▸ 4.0 ▸ custom
WIN: C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\XMP\custom file info panels\4.0\panels [I can't vouch for this path as I'm on Mac at the moment and it's been ages since I poked around for custom schemas, but this should at least be the right neighborhood.]
You might also be interested in sharing your custom metadata display profiles. They in Documents ▸ Adobe ▸ Premiere Pro ▸ 8.0 ▸ Profile-mapes ▸ Metadata Preferences.

  • What hapenned to the MJPEG codec in Vision 2012 SP1?

NOTE:  This discussion is about the 64 bit version of the Vision toolkit!
NI has re-vamped its AVI functions in the latest Vision toolkit (2012 SP1).  At first glance, the new AVI functions work fine.  At least the 64 bit version now has a wider selection of codecs to choose from (see this old bug that caused issues with codecs in prior versions).  However, something strange has hapenned to the codecs!!!
Prior to SP1, I used the "MJPEG Compressor" codec.  Honestly, I know nothing about this codec except that it provided the best compression.  I don't even know if its a Microsoft codec, or is provided by NI.  But with that codec, I could get a smaller AVI file without compromising too much on image quality.  I typically used Quality=700.
However, with SP1, that codec is gone!  It appears to have been replaced with a codec named "Motion JPEG (NI Vision)".  And now I can't specify the quality!  Apparently, none of the "NI Vision" codecs allow you to specify the quality. Wow, what a pain!
After reviewing all the available codecs, "Motion JPEG (NI Vision)" is still the best option compared to the others.  But now I can't change the Quality!  This basicaly means that its actually BETTER for me to use older version of the Vision Toolkit.
Can I get a response from NI on this issue?  Assuming that is the same old MJPEG codec as before, why was the "Quality" parameter removed for it?

    Greetings, Josborne;
While I do not know whether the MJPEG Compressor or the Motion JPEG (NI Vision) codecs are actually the same, it would seem that the 2012 SP1 readme does mention the fact that the compression inputs in Codecs installed by the Vision Development Module will not have that Quality input (under the Known Issues section)
    http://download.ni.com/support/softlib//vision/Vision%20Development%20Module/2012SP1/readme.html
I will thus inform myself as to what might be going on there and as to whether that might or not be changing.

  • Exporting Shared Components

The present method I have of exporting Shared Components in Portal (Oracle 9i) is within Portal itself, exporting Fonts, Images, and user templates
    individually.
Is there an automated COMMAND LINE method of exporting these Shared Components?

Which version of Portal you are using?
    Is it 3.0.9 or 9.0.2 ?
For 9.0.2 there is an option to bulk export/import the shared components by way of transport set.

  • Playing Native Canon 1DC 4K MJPEG Codec

I shoot with my Canon 1DC and I would like to use the native MJPEG codec in PPCC 2014. When I drop it on the time line or play it on the viewer it plays choppy even at 1/2 res, but if I render it play smooth. If I transcode it to a ProRes 4096x2160 file it plays with no issues. If PPCC 2014 supports native MJPEG files, I would figure it would play smooth or be able to handle it. Ideally I want to edit in its native format so its lossless and saves me time on transcoding, because that's the main thing Adobe promotes and why I use PPCC. I have played 5k RED footage and it plays smooth so what's the deal with native MJPEG support as Adobe states? And I'm on A new late 2013 MacPro 3.5 GHZ 6 Core with dual AMD FirePro D700 graphics cards, so I would assume I should have no issues handling this footage. Any updates on this, and I hope adobe will make this codec more usable in its native format.

    Not a lot lower though.
I don't use a Mac so I don't know if ProRes is easier on the GPU than MJPEG, but if I had to guess I would say that it probably isn't the drive after all. Unless the drive is fragmented and the ProRes file is not in a fragmented area. Hard to say.
I think you need to analyze the drive throughput and GPU as well as CPU capacity. If one or the other is maxed out, the tool you use to look at it should indicate that. I know how it is done on a PC but not on a Mac.

  • Trouble exporting/sharing part of the video

    I do:
    create a new iMovie project,
select and copy part of a video clip from the Event Browser (e.g. 30 seconds -long piece out of 3 minutes -long video),
paste that piece into the created project,
Share --> Export Movie, or Share --> YouTube (or whatever).
    The problem:
The whole original video is exported or published on YouTube instead of the small piece of it which I have selected and put into the project.
If I play the copied/pasted fragment inside the project, it has the duration which I need.
Also (that is likely an obvious consequence of the first problem), the audio/video edits I do on the selected video fragment in the project do not end up in the exported/published video.
It looks like iMovie simply takes the original video from the Event Browser and exports/publishes it, bypassing the project altogether.
Either I am doing something wrong, or this is a bug.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    update:
the problem with keeping various Adjustments and edits in the exported/shared video (e.g. clip trims, equalizer adjustments, etc.) may be an intermittent one.
I suspect, it is related to working with "iPhoto Videos".
if you have encountered the same problem as described above, please share your experience.

  • Exporting/Sharing problem

    Hi!
I made a recording in iMovie on my iPhone 6. After editing (just a few cuts and trims and a Text-titel) I tried to export the project to iCloud Drive.
The result was a film with "double"-sound. The audio was merged from all the clips in the beginning of the film...
Before exporting/sharing I could use the Play-button (left to the Sharing-button) and the movie played correctly. After exporting the fault is in the phone as well...
I also tried to save to the camera-roll with the same result...
(I have the latest versions of everything)

I can see clearly now, for some reason, the format of my video is "Animation"
Yes, this is a known problem. Animation is frequently used as an "intermediate" file format by applications like LiveType and Snapz Pro X. Until Apple can figure out the problem, the only remedy is to convert these files to another format. Havent tried it but if you are "adventurous," you could try converting the files while they are in the event folder ensuring the new files have the same name, trash the event and project thumbnails, and re-open iMovie '08 to see if it re-generates the thumbnails properly without having to re-edit the project. As I say, I've never tried this and have no idea what would happen.

  • Looking for a mjpeg codec 64 bits

    Hi all,
I have the PICVIDEO mjpeg codec v4 32 bits version. I use this codec to record my game footage with the help of Dxtory. The problem I have is that I can't read the video recorded in Adobe Premiere Pro CC (7.2.2). PICVIDEO mjpeg codec v4 has it's own 64 bits version but the problem is that I have to get a licence for it.
At this point, is there a way to use the 32 bits version of the codec into Adobe Premiere Pro CC? Or does anyone know a free mjpeg codec for 64 bits?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Kevin Monahan,
This is the method I use currently for my footages but the problem is that I have a lot of videos to convert, so I'm trying to avoid this to gain times and also space for my hdd.
Thank you for your help anywway.

convert your Flash8 video BEFORE import into dv-stream, Apple Intermediate or h264. edit again.
