Exporting to excel...automatically converts to PDF

I can't quite tell to be sure, whether this is a problem within BO or with the computer.
However the problem is basically what the subject says.
Someone I'm working with has been having this problem for the past two week, which previously was not a problem
Whenever we try to export something from BO to excel, the prompt still says save as .xls but with the PDF icon.
I haven't posted on here before so I don't know how to go about it, but I do have a screenshot I'd like to post.
Here's a link to the screenshot: http://tinypic.com/r/256z6sk/7
Anyhow, that is the only option he's getting and when he saves it opens up in excel, but then automatically converts to PDF and the excel is lost.
Again, I don't know if this a problem within BO or something going wrong with the computer he's using.
If anyone has heard of this happening, or have experienced something similar...any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

    Good day,
I have installed Acrobat DC, and would like to combine 2 files. One is excel allready converted to PDF - No problem. The other one is from Pastel mailed as PDF.
When trying to merge the files, this file ask for a Password. No password was issued from the setup or mail?

    Good day abrieb93050306,
I can understand your concern, however can you please let me know that are you able to open both the PDF files ( the one you converted form excel to pdf & the other pdf that was mailed to you ) individually without using any password?
As it asks for the password, it means that the postal mailed PDF is password protected. You can ask for the password from the sender of the postal mail & then try to combine the files.
Please follow the steps in the provided KB doc.to combine the files : Combine files into single PDF | Adobe Acrobat DC tutorials
This will probably resolve your issue.
Let me know if you still experience any issue.

No Office programs can open a pdf and edit the contents so you will have to get a different app to convert teh pdf into xls format. There are plenty to be found on the web.

  • How to correctly and automatically convert a pdf having tables with embedded figures to MS Word format?

I'm a language translator. My source files are very often pdf's containing huge tables with hundreds of embedded figures as well as text. So far, I've been unable to find a way to automatically convert such a structure to MS Word format. When selecting the table, the figures do not copy. Figures can be selected and copied only one at a time. Tried Reader, tried Acrobat, tried third party software like ABBYY PDF Transformer+ to no avail. Is there a way to do it?

  • Excel 2007 Converted to PDF cuts off information

I am using Acrobat 8.1 and I am having trouble converting the information from Excel 2007. Some of the text in the cells are cut off on the ends. Is there some kind of tweak to stop this? Thanks

Select the Adobe PDF printer in the print menu. Then go through the Excel file. Excel (like WORD) reflows the document to best fit the printer. In this case you are apparently outside the printing range of the Adobe PDF printer. You may have to reduce the font size.

  • MS Excel automatically converts numeric fields to date format

I have at least 2 different spreadsheets where this happens.  I maintain them for months, adding, changing, deleting data.  They contain lots of data elements (numeric, text, date, etc).   Some columns are all numeric, some all dates,
etc.  Then suddenly when I open the spreadsheet, my numeric formatted data has been converted to date format.  I see lots of # signs in cells, which is an indication that this happened, and selecting an affected cell shows a date, generally in the
early 1900s, depending on the original numeric value that was in the cell.  I convert the fields back to numeric, but sometime later the same problem occurs -- numeric fields are now date formatted.  I cannot identfy any specific change that I make
that would cause this.  And I only recognize it as having occurred when I open the spreadsheet, not anytime during its maintenance.  I am using MS Excel 2007 SP2 in a Windows XP SP3 environment.  The machine is well maintained and updated /
kept current by our corporate IT group.  I have done numerous Internet searches and cannot find anything like this in any other blog.  Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Were some of the these data imported from a .csv file? As far as I know, data formats cannot be saved in .csv file. If this is the situation, try this:
Save a copy of your .csv file changing the extension of your file from .csv to .txt
    open excel.
go to DATA --> Import external data --> Import data --> browse to find the .txt file you made earlier
The text import wizard should open.
    Click on delimited, click next
    click comma, click next
You should now see all columns appear with heading GENERAL --> highlight the columns with the values that are changing to date and click TEXT (top right) instead. The heading of these columns should now change to TEXT.
    click finish
Excel will now treat the column as text when it imports the data and will not change them to dates
If this is not the situation, this issue might be caused by some add-ins.
Start Excel in safe mode:  Press and hold the
CTRL key, and then click the Excel program to start. Then, click File > Open to open the Excel file.
If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Office program, we can try to disable them.

  • Problem on Export to Excel - converts Long type field to General (Unknown)

hello! i used JSP to export table data to excel.. there's nothing wrong with the data displayed.. But the problem is.. when one of the fields is computed and retrieved in the JSP, and then exported to excel, it converts the Long type field to General and therefore cannot be computed when being used in a formula. Also, when you change it's type by right clicking the cell and chose "Format Cells", it still can't change it's type to number even if you have it changed. Therefore can't be computed..
I have other number fields but they were just retrieved and not computed as they were exported to excel.. But they don't change their types like the computed ones..
    please help.. thanks

hello! i used JSP to export table data to excel..Yuck. :p Didn't even consider it being possible. I'd use a servlet anyway, after all, it's designed to be able to stream out non-HTML.

  • Error detected by Export DLL, when trying to export to excel

    Hi All
We are having an issue that has occured recently where some of our user's are unable to export to excel. They were working ok.
The crystal viewer was originally designed using Framework 1.1 (vs.net 2003) and we have applied the hotfix to the user's pc called:
    crnet11win_en.exe
Which fixed the issue originally, by upgrading the ExportModeller.dll to 9.1.1.528.
However in this case, even after running the patch, the user's pc is still unable to export to "excel", works ok for PDF and WORD, just not excel.
Tested the report on 2 other pc's and the report is able to export to excel.
Just not on that user's pc, is anyone able to give advice of what could be stopping the user from running the report.
The user is on Windows XP SP3, but we been informed that other user's with XP SP3 are able to export to excel with no problem.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice that you can give.
    Regards
    Chris

    Thanks Ludek
We found the issue after doing control tests, here.
We found that our crystal viewer, developed in .NET 2003, does not work with XP SP3, even with the fix crnet11win_en.exe.
    Our control test, was:
Ran report with XP SP2, exported ok
Upgraded pc to XP SP3, then ran report again, Report failed to export, with error message as described.
Had a crystal viewer set for  using .NET 2005 files, but not yet ready for deployment to users, tested and was able to export to excel using .NET 2005 with XP SP3.
The issue seems to relate to exportmodeller.dll, which was the issue in the past when XP was upgraded and stopped the export function from working before.

  • Export to Excel using URL in Discoverer Plus

    Using Discoverer 4i Plus.
Using URL arguments I want to export to Excel automatically. I see that if I was using Discoverer Viewer it would be something like fm=xls. Is there similar code for doing this with Plus?
    Thanks!

Maybe it's possible, but I doubt it.
Reason is that you're asking the URL to run the report and then once done export out the values and I just don't think the 'i' - or now 'g' versions support this.
This was why the command line interface with the Desktop version was so popular as this is exactly the kind of thing you can do, plus much more.
I checked the documentation for Plus and can find nothing about doing this in the URL. Maybe someone will say otherwise, but with Plus I don't think it's possible.

  • How to automate the process of converting a pdf to excel online?

    Hi,
Each morning I recieve a bunch of pdf files form my clinet and I need to convert all of them to MS - excel and then use them for further calculations.
This is a repititive, tedious and time consuming process.
So the idea is to automate the following steps-
    1. Open the pdf file from the suggested/given location
    2. Convert it to excel- online
    3. Save it at a desired location
    4. Repeat the process for all files.
Can some one please suggest how to write and execute the code to fulfill this algorithm?
    Thanks
    Vivek

    Hi, Vivek.
Currently, ExportPDF can only handle 1 file at a time. Adobe Acrobat can do batch export to Excel, however.
This idea has already been added to the ExportPDF Ideas list ("Export multiple..."). If you'd like to see this improvement to ExportPDF, please add your vote or comment here.

  • Huge (14K pages) PDF Export to Excel gives "Save As Failed To Process" Message

    Using version 11.0.7.79, running Windows
I have a massive (33.7MB, 13,900 page) PDF that I am trying to convert to HTML or Excel. When I try to export the file to either of these formats the export process will run for a number of minutes and then bomb out with the "Save As Failed To Process" message. I figured that the issue was with the file size, so I extracted a much smaller subset (200 pages) without a problem.
Since it appears that file size is the problem, does anyone have a suggestion on how to approach the exporting of this huge file? What causes this error message? Any way to get around it (maybe online conversion of the file)?
I could manually break it up into smaller files, but I'm hoping that there is 1) an easy way to segment the larger files into smaller files via a 3rd party solution (if needed) or 2) another way to export the huge PDF in one fell swoop. On point 1, I don't know if there is a solution that will automatically segment larger PDF's into 500 page segments per PDF file.
For context, I am brand new to Acrobat Pro, so there could be a practical solution that I am not aware of yet. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Yea, this approach is not going to work. Even when I break these down into 1,000 page, 2MB files I get the same "Save As Failed To Process" error message. What causes this message? Not enough memory? How can I resolve it?
It just doesn't make sense that I can't export basic data to Excel when the actual excel content for 1,000 pages will probably be less that 2MB once it is in Excel. I saved a sample 10 pages and it was 18KB. 100 sample pages was 123KB. I would expect Acrobat to be able to convert these files when I break them down into 1,000 page increments.
Are there any settings within Acrobat that I should be looking at adjusting? It just seems ridiculous that it is this hard to get Acrobat to do a very basic export for what seems to be a reasonable sized file.

  • Excel 2013 hyperlinks will not transfer when converting to pdf

Hyperlinks in Excel file do not transfer when I convert to pdf. I am using Excel 2013 with Acrobat XI Pro.

While Crystal exports to pdf indeed lose hyperlink functionality (both in Crystal as well as in Visual CUT), Visual CUT allows you to use Crystal formulas (acting as hidden Tags) to create hyperlinks in the resulting pdf file. Another option supported by Visual CUT it to automatically detect file references in the pdf text and turn them into hyperlinks.  Contact MilletSoftware for more detail.

  • Is it possible to convert several pdf files (into Excel or Word) at the same time ?

I'd like to convert several pdf files (up to 500) into Excel at the same time. Is it possible ? How many files can Export PDF handle at the same time ?

    Hi, Sylvain.
This is a great idea! Currently, ExportPDF only can export 1 file at a time. (Acrobat can do a batch export using it's Action Wizard feature.)
I added your idea to our idea list: http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1499. If you'd like to see us add this feature, please go vote or add comment to this Idea on the idea list.
