Exporting to PDf reduces font size of one item only

I am using VS 2010 with the latest CR release. Within my crystal report I have a barcode (using IDAutomationHC39M) with set font size of 10. When I click on the "Export" button and choose PDF, all of the text stays the same except for the barcode which gets reduces to a font size of like 3 or 4 (its really tiny).
I can print it using Adobe PDF and the Barcode will stay the same font size of 10, but I want to avoid that if possible.  What do I have to do to make the barcode export with the correct font size?

You will have to use it as a guide as it does not specifically address CRVS2010, but the patern is eh same...

  • Export to PDF and font size

    Hi,
When I export the report to PDF, the font size is getting reduced. It is because of the legal size I have set in the report. If I set the print size to letter the font size are retained after export to pdf. I am using CR for visual studio 2005. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
    Try with this:
Go to the following registry sub key:
    HKEY_USERS\[your security profile]\Software\Crystal Decisions\10.2\Crystal Reports\Export\Pdf
Right-click the sub key and click New > DWORD Value. Name the DWORD value "ForceLargerFonts" and set it to the value of 1.
Note :Backup the registry before making any changes.

  • Export to PDF - Change Font size

    Hello everybody,
We were exporting reports to PDF file using te "Export to PDF" option in WAD. We recently have updated the BI environment with the SP17 patch. After the patch, the font size of the reports in the export PDF file has become very small and hence not clear.
Is there a place where we can adjust the font size of the Texts seen in the "Exported PDF reports"?
Please help me with your Knowledge and Experience,
    Shameem

    Hi Rane,
Thank you for your input. I am aware that we can zoom the document and see the content. However when we print the report, the reports are not as clear as it was before SP17 installation. Thats the problem.

  • Export to PDF changing font size

    Hi,
I have gone through the posts on this topic and was wondering if anyone has a formula to predict what will happen to the text or what looks best in PDF?
I am using Arial 10,11 and 12 on some reports and Times New Roman 8, 9, 10 and 11 on others.
The worst effect is that all reports have a group of text boxes on the top right hand corner which have borders.
The reports are basically text documents so have lots of word wrapped text.  In CR these paragraphs are close to the right hand edge in line with the text boxes at the top.
In PDF the right hand edge of the paragraph moves in by 3-4cms.  Setting the paragraph to Justify rather than left Justify keeps it at the right, but has lots of white space which looks bad.
    regards
    ps

    Try with this:
    To resolve the behavior
Set the resolution of the default printer of the local computer experiencing the issue to 1200 DPI. Most printers have a default setting of 600 DPI.
Create two registry keys to prevent the crxf_pdf.dll from decreasing in font size.
Click Start > Run. Type "regedit". The Registry Editor appears.
Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI with the defined values:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1
    Default Value: 1
    Creation Method: manual
Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.
Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI Release 2 with the defined values:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF\ForceLargerFonts
    Type: DWORD
    Recognized Values: 0,1

Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.
    Hope this helps!!

  • How can I print a pdf doc of size A3 (one page only) on A4 (on one page) front and back (actual size duplex printing) without reducing the size?

The printing should come of actual size half on front and half on back of A4 paper.

    Hi Fakhar,
That is not possible without reducing the size. It cant be possible at all.
    Regards,
    Ajlan Huda.

  • Export to PDF yields 95% reduction of one file, only 30% of another?

    I've got two separate projects.
    1. Coffee table book, 92 pages, 15 inch wide pages, large picture, even full page, on 70 % of the pages. Page document is 292 megs. PDF is 10.1 megs.
    2. Storyboard, 104 pages, 11.5 inch wide pages, 3 small pics on each page. Page document is 300 megs. PDF is 160 megs.
Why might I be getting this odd discrepancy? There are perhaps twice the number of pics in the storyboard, but they are 1.7 inch across (as opposed to the 15 inch across pics in the coffee table book).
    A mystery to me..
    Ben

    Hi Dennis,
Checked it twice .... to make SURE it was 'good' both times.
I'm trying to think what might be different. The coffee table book had all 300 dpi pics (big ones). The storyboard had all 72 dpi pics (small ones). The text was about the same in both.
Perhaps lunch and a cup of espresso will make this clearer to me.

  • Export to PDF (smallest file size) is giving me a very large file

    Hi all,
I got 2 document with around 100 pages (same size), with a picture or two in each page.
I've been using the Export to PDF (smallest file size) and export it.
first file became 5MB, which is fine
second file became 30MB, this is much too much.
I have used the exact same setting for both files and have no idea why the big difference between them.
The only difference between them is that first file contains CMYK photos, and second one - RGB.
    Can this be the difference?
    Any suggestions?
    thanks,
    shlomit

That's certainly part of the difference. Additional font information if one of the documents uses more fonts or additional glyphs could be some of it, too. Swatches and styles might also be a factor. Vectors don't compress like bitmaps, either.
Have you opened the optimizer and done a space usage audit to see what is taking up all the space? Did you do a Save AS before export?

  • PDF reduce file size filters and CMYK to RGB conversion

This doesn't seem to be on-topic to this forum, but I'm hoping someone here has the expertise to answer my question. We have some scripts which take a series of press-quality pdfs and use the "reduce file size" filter to prepare them for viewing on the web. We run these scripts on a 10.4 machine, and the filter works very well, reliably reducing file sizes of all sorts of pages.
When we tried to upgrade the machine, we discovered that the quartz filtering has changed in 10.5 and 10.6. While it's usually an improvement, getting maybe 5-10% better compression ratios, it has become unreliable in that about 5% of my files fail spectacularly -- they blow up to 3, 4, 5, 6 times the original size.
The other thing that happens is that the 10.5/10.6 filters munge the colors up. I found the solution to this -- in the ColorSynchUtility, make a duplicate of the Reduce File Size filter, and add a Color Management Component called Convert To Profile. This allows me to set a filter that converts the CMYK content to RGB. The problem is that there are about 40 choices of profiles, and it's not at all clear what I should use. Many of them have printer manufacturer's names in them, some say "Adobe", others have cryptic codes (probably referring to various RFCs and schemes). I've tried a couple of the ones that don't look like they are for printers, basically chosen at random. They all produce files of slightly different sizes for the reductions that go well, but on the files that blow up, some filters are better than others. (For example, I have a 5MB page which reduces to 1.4MB with the 10.4 filter, but blows up to 27MB with the "sRGB IE61966-2.1" profile, but only 12MB with the "Adobe RGB" profile.)
    So I have 2 questions:
    1) Is there any way to configure a 10.5/10.6 custom profile so that it behaves as reliably as the 10.4 "stock" PDF Reduce File Size works? It doesn't have to be the most wonderful compression algorithm out there, just so that it never or rarely has a file blow up in size.
    2) For converting press documents to pdfs that are going to go on the web, what is a good "Convert to profile" to use of the 40-some choices on the pull-down menu?

    Cathy,
You have posted your question in a forum dedicated to the Final Cut Studio application Color. It is a very specialized program to grade (adjust) the color in video/film images. We know nothing regarding PDFs.
Have you tried posting this on an Adobe support site?
    Good luck,

  • Reduce font size in a document.

Hello guys. I've a bit of a problem here. So I have this document downloaded from the internet and I have to print it out but the problem is that it's text size is way too large due to which it is spanning over about 275 pages. Is there any possible way to reduce font size of certain elements which keeping their relative sizes? For example, headings should stay the same but paragraphs should be reduced to about 12px.
    I'm using Acrobat X Pro.

PDF files were not meant to be edited in this way. For such large-scale
changes you'll need to edit the original source file, and then re-create
    the PDF.

  • Reduced font size in browser

All of the sudden some of my text is showing up a point or two smaller in Safari and in FireFox.
The font is Arial and all of the text was created in text boxes.
Even on the same page some of the text will be the correct size and some will be a reduced size.
The pages were all created in '08 and I have not had the problem until just recently.
    I'm stumped.
    Here's the site: http://carlisleantiques.net
Check out the "Philadelphia Secretary" in "Conservation"
I have tried copying the text to the clipboard, deleting the text box, creating a new text box and pasting the text back in. But the text still gets reduced in the browser.
I have noticed that the text will often come up the right size and then a split second later it gets smaller. What's going on?
    David

Well I seem to have been able to figure out what was going on.
I tried increasing the font size in one of the text boxes and was surprised to find that the font size actually got even smaller in the browser! What has solved the problem is increasing the size of the text box. I think the browser was trying to render the correct size but didn't have the room to make it the full size. This is clearly a bug in iWeb '08. You shouldn't be able to make the text box too small like that. I also changed the setting to keep the text in the middle of the box so that I made sure there was room top and bottom. It has solved my problem, and maybe it will help someone else who has text showing up smaller than it should.

  • Set custom font size for one column

hey guys! I am trying to decrease the font-size for one column based on an lov and used
style="font-size:8pt"It does not work though! Do you have a hint?
    brgds,
    seb

    Hello Seb,
    >> Might it be important whether the column is of type "...based on lov"?
If by "...based on lov" you mean “Display as Text (based on LOV, does not save state)” the answer is yes. This type of column is not treated as an updatable column (the implementation is by using a regular <td> tag and not the <input> tag) so the Apex engine ignores the Element Attributes field.
As far as I can tell, this column can only be styled in the query itself (and you need to implement the LOV yourself).
Another option is to use a select list and disabled it, but the column will appear in gray, and with small font size it doesn’t look that good.

    Arie.

  • PDF Reduce File Size makes certain pdfs HUGE

Generally reduce file size works great for me but certain files, those coming from someone using Microsoft Publisher in particular, result in larger pdfs. She sends me newsletters for a website and sometimes the 3 page pdfs are 2-4mb. I tried opening in Preview and re-saving them using the Reduce File Size filter and the result is that they ballon up to 50-100mb!! Info for the file reveals that the pdf producer is GPL Ghostscript 8.15 and the content creator is PScript5.dll Version 5.2.2. I seem to be able to open and reduce file size using Acrobat so I'm not quite sure why Preview is choking on them.

Hi geekinthegarden- This does not surprise me. There are many variations and reiterations in specifications of the PDF format.
Going from Ghostscript language interpreter, to Apple in rendering could introduce complications which we will not be able to sort out in this forum encapsulating a complete description of a fixed-layout 2D documents that includes the text, fonts, images, and 2D vector graphics which compose the documents.
Suffice to say it is not a perfect science.
Print PDF has a compress PDF file option as well as ColorSynch in your /Utilities folder +reduce file size+ option for PDF's. This may or may not be of use.
You found your workaround using Acrobat, this is part of the value of having more than one PDF viewer, good computing!

  • Interative pdfs- reducing file size?

    Hi again,
I have created a page turning pdf and cannot work out how to reduce the file size of this.I have tried reducing the size of the jpeg to minimum in ad settings and obviously using 72dpi with a result in no reduction of file size. Is there anything anyone can think of just to get it down y 1 meg? I want to change the pdf from 6.4 to <5mg to make it email friendly! If have have not been very clear, please feel free to ask me more questions if you think you may be able to help.
    Many thanks,
    Sam

PDF files don't support "page-turning", so what you've made is a single-page PDF file containing one full-page Flash annotation. Inside that is a SWF (usually a whole bunch of them) which contains your actual document, and nothing Acrobat does with PDF compression settings will have any bearing on the contents of embedded SWF files - the only way to do that is to change the quality settings in the original application that's exporting the SWFs.

  • Export to PDF ignores document size settings?

I have several documents in InDesign CS4 and when I export them to PDF the document size changes.
I have set all the following options to A4 (210x297mm):
    In Indesign: File->Document Settings
    In Windows->Printer settings->Adobe PDF->Paper Size
After exporting and opening in Reader 9 the document size has changed to 210 x 303.3mm
This then requires a tweak before the first print run.
I should be able to just export to production and they can print from the PDF without checking the settings!
    What have I missed?

I am using the export option not printing to PDF.

  • CFDOCUMENT PDF HEADER FONT SIZE

Using CF to create a PDF via <cfdocument> and finding that the font sizes within the header do not scale properly.  I've researched the web for hacks or solutions and cannot find any.  Has anyone been able to make the headers in CFDOCUMENT work?  I've adj the topmargin size and the font will adj once you get to 3 inches or greater but then there is huge white space at the top of the document.
if anyone has any suggestions, would appreciate the feedback.

    Hi There,
I had the same issue with fonts in the header. The work around I came up for me (at least) was the following.
    <cfdocument ... margintop="0" ...>
I create a separate .cfm file, with a <div> tag setting the height to the desired header height. I then place the header content inside the <div> tag like images, barcodes, titles, etc, with desired font and border formatting applied.
I insert the header content with a <cfinclude> tag, as the first line in the <cfdocument> tag. The rest of the page content is inserted below the <cfinclude>. If more then one page, I just <cfinclude> the header content again on the second page and so on. If changes are required, I change the header page which then updates appropriately where inserted.
Additionally this allows me to insert odd and even headers into multiple page documents, while controlling the font structure, etc. It also allows me to insert a different header for the first page, with a subsequent header for the rest of the pages.
Others may have their own solution to the header font formatting issue. However, like I said this is what I have found works for me.
