  • Package javax.faces.bean does not exist

    I am new to JSF. I tried to build a jsf application that runs on glassfish 3. I did not use IDEs.
    When I compile it , I encountered the following 4 errors:
    Error 1: package javax.inject.bean does not exist
    Error 2: package javax.faces.bean does not exist
    Error 3: cannot find symbol : class Named
    @Named<name="user">
    Error 4: cannot find symbol: class SessionScoped
    @SessionScoped.
    Please help me fix these errors.
    Thank you in advance.

    You must also be new to Java if you don't know how to deal with these problems. Do you even know what the classpath is?
    I warn you right now: if you don't know the more advanced features of the Java platform (annotations, packages and the classpath, jar library usage, classloaders) you will basically get nowhere developing web applications - especially using a complex framework like JSF.

  • Re: javax.faces.convert.Converter error, how to diagnose?

    I’m rendering a region on a page. The region is a table which is entirely build in java. The .jsff for the region looks kind of like this:
    <af:treeTable value="#{backingBeanScope.myBean.treeModel}" var="row" etc…. >
    <af:forEach items="#{backingBeanScope.myBean.columns}" var="column">
    <af:column binding="#{column.adfColumn}" />
    </af:forEach>
    </af:treeTable>
    When a row selection happens, there is context menu build, where one of the menuitems pops a dialog. After the dialog is dismissed a return handler/listener is called:
    public void propertyToolReturnHandler(ReturnEvent event)
    AdfUtil.showMessageDialog(AdfUtil.MESSAGE_TYPE.INFORMATION, “some msg”, “some msg”, true);
    Notice the last param to showMessageDialog, which is “true”, as I want to show the message as inline. However, having it set to “true” causes the following exception. If I set it to “false”, then it does work and a popup message appears with the “some msg” text.
    I’m truly stuck trying to figure out what Converter is missing and where. Any ideas will be most welcomed!
    The error I get:
    [Ljava.lang.Object; cannot be cast to javax.faces.convert.Converter

    I did more trial/error with this problem. It is not related to AdfUtil.showMessageDialog().
    My java-built table, shows a popup. After the popup is dismissed, I will get this exception, not right away though. The view has tabs, if after dismissing the dialog, I navigate to some other tab, and then back to the one which has the table, that is when the error shows up.
    ANY help on how to diagnose this problem will be very much appreciated!

  • Javax.faces.convert.EnumConverter - defective by design?

    Dear all,
    I'm confused as to how javax.faces.convert.EnumConverter is ever supposed to work. It basically does:
    getAsString: value.toString();
    getAsObject: Enum.valueOf( targetClass, value );
    But Enum.valueOf was never designed to be the opposite of value.toString(). The JavaDoc says it is the opposite of value.name(). So if you ever override an enum value to have a different toString than its name (a common occurence)...
    enum Gender {
    MALE {
       public String toString() {
          return "Male";
    }...then EnumConverter won't work for you. Surely this is a bug in the spec?
    For a long time now I've been using my own EnumConverter with JSF 1.1. It does...
    getAsString: if ( component instanceof UIInput ) return value.name() else value.toString();
    getAsObject: Enum.valueOf( targetClass, value );
    ...so there's a caveat when you're using labels (when you really do want the .toString() instead of the .name() to appear), but for UIInputs (eg. UISelects) you need to use the name() or it will never convert back.
    Can this design decision be double checked for JSF 2.0?
    Thanks,
    Richard.

    Okay, thanks. Now logged: https://javaserverfaces-spec-public.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=470

  • Javax.faces.convert.Converter

    I have derived my converter from javax.faces.convert.Converter interface. Inside my getAsObject(FacesContext contx, UIComponent comp, String value) method I can access other form data using:
    UIComponent uic = PageCodeBase.findComponent(contx.getViewRoot(), "textYear");
    Above code works only if textYear is read only input control.
    How can I access non read only control?

    Yes, that was the problem. :) Now, I can access my <hx:dataTableEx id="table1"> with this code:
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot().findComponent("form1:table1");
    but, I don't know how to access table row values. I have looked into HTML source and tried this:
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot().findComponent("form1:table1:0:text1");
    but that code doesn't find <h:inputText id="text1"> which is inside <hx:dataTableEx id="table1">.
    Any idea? :)

  • Package javax.faces.context does not exist

    i get the following errors when trying to compile my class
    package javax.faces.context does not exist
    package javax.faces.component does not exist
    package javax.faces.validator does not existi'm really new to this and i do not know what this means
    i hope someone can help me

         public String getlastname()
         { return lastname; }
         public void changeName()
         { lastname = firstname+" "+lastname; }
    }

    Hello,
    nornaly this kind of errors happens, when the compiler isn't able to find the classes which it needs to compile your sourcecode. What you have to do is to say the compiler where it can find the sourcecodes. This means you have to put the jars into you classpath. you find the jars in the lib-directory of the jsf-directory which you downloaded. after unzipping the jsf-directory you will see it.
    if you use eclipse you go with you mouse to your workingdirectory, click with the right
    button on that directory ,choose properties then on the left you choose " java build path" and than on the right the libraries. Here you choose " add external jars" so you will have to direct to the jars. your are done.
    But if you don't use eclipse, you have to put those jars in your classpath, in the environment of windows.
    bye hamid

  • Javax.faces.model.ManagedBean not found

    Hi all,
    I am extremely new to JSF. Infact this is the first Hello World Application I am building that has Ajax Support. I have written following code from website :
    [http://weblogs.java.net/blog/driscoll/archive/2008/11/a_simple_ajax_j.html]
    import javax.faces.event.ActionEvent;
    import javax.faces.model.ManagedBean;

         Integer count = 0;
        public Integer getCount() {
            return count++;
        public void reset(ActionEvent ae) {
            count = 0;
    }But Eclipse is not able to find classes for:
    javax.faces.model.ManagedBean
    javax.faces.model.SessionScoped
    Jars added currently:
    jsf-api.jar
    jsf-impl.jar
    jstl.jar
    standard.jar
    servlet-api.jar
    and some commons jar files.
    What jars should i include. I googled for it but could not get relevant information. Sadly, www.findjar.com is down.
    Thanks,

    Between can you provide me some pointers for how to do Ajax + JSF? This sample is one sample I got from net that says that it is Ajax + JSF.
    If the tutorial is either some JBoss Seam Specific/wrong maybe I should be looking for some different things. Is Iceface good for Ajax + JSF?
    Thanks,
    Vikash Anand.Sorry, I can't help you with your latest reply as I haven't done Ajax...yet...nor do I have any experience with Icefaces. Anyway, there bound to be other JSF experts in this forum who can help you. If not, there are other JSF forums you can use to ask the same question as this thread - if you need to resolve this issue urgently.

    I tried to use javax.faces.context.FacesContext calss in my application but JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 can not find this class

    I checked the jar file of this library (jsf-api.jar ), it is in folder [jsf-ri] in Jdev home
    why JDev. can not read this library
    please how can i solve this problem
    Waheed

    Hi,
    make sure the project you are working in is configured for JSF. Double click onto the project to open its properties and set the "Technology Scope" to JSF. This ensures that all libraries are cnfigured. This also adds aa copy of jsf-impl.jar to the Web-Inf/lib directory of your project.

  • Error: Object variable or with variable not set while accessing BPC Excel

    Hi,
    I am working on BPC NW 7.5. When I am trying to access BPC for Excel I am getting the below error.
    'object variable or with variable not set'
    When I click on BPC for Excel it ask for the credentials, after entering it we encounter this error.
    Any idea why is this happening?
    Regards,
    Priyanka Singh

    Hi Renne,
    Could you share me the solution to resolve the issue?
    I am getting an error "object variable or with block variable not set" while trying to submit data through an Input schedule.
    I am working on SAP BPC 7.0 NW and using MS Excel 2003.
    I can log in to BPC Admin and excel with my user id and password.
    Only when i am trying to click esubmit --> send and refresh schedules i am getting this error.
    I checked my security profile and i have the submit data task in my task profile.
    Following couple existing SDN postings i tried to check the ADD-INs of the excel on my system. However it looks like the steps listed in the existing SDN posts are for MS EXCEL 2007.
    Please suggest me how do i resolve this issue. Please note I am working on SAP BPC 7.0 NW and using MS Excel 2003.
    Regards,
    Jagat

  • Object with runtime number '0' not defined

    Hello,
    We have a problem in one step of the workflow we created for sales orders.
    The following are the errors:
    EXECUTE_METHOD_OBJECT_SYNC -> Object with runtime number '0' not defined
    EXECUTE_METHOD_BOR -> Object with runtime number '0' not defined
    EXECUTE_METHOD_BOR -> Object with runtime number '0' not defined
    Object with runtime number '0' not defined
    Message no. OL808
    We have already seen all the binds and correct.
    Thanks!
    Ariel Prebianca

    Associated message no with message 'Object with runtime number '0' not defined' is OL 808.
    Check Note 1322173 - Wrong error msg raised in BP_JOB_READ of interrupt process. It may not directly solve the issue but it will help you show correct message.

  • Package javax.servlet.jsp does not exist.

    dear all!
    I've one program which import javax.servlet.jsp.* as one of the package to be used in
    the program, and I am using j2sdk 1.4.0_01 to compiled it.
    However I got this error message : package javax.servlet.jsp does not exist.
    Where does it wrong?.
    error message like :
    logisticslib.java:6: package javax.servlet.jsp does not exist
    import javax.servlet.jsp.*;
    ^
    logisticslib.java:201: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class JspWriter
    location: class elogistic.db.logisticslib
    public void getServiceInfo(JspWriter out, String SQL) {

    You need a J2EE implementation, I recomemend Tomcat, you also need to put the .jar w/ the implementation in in your classpath.

  • Package javax.servlet.http does not exists

    Hi,
    I am new to J2EE and am writing my first servlet. I tried to compile a servlet I wrote and got the following error.
    "package javax.servlet.http does not exists".
    What do i do to correct this error?
    Also is there any links which has a complete servlet tutorial.
    Please advice
    Thanx

    Most probably you need to include the servlet-api library in your classpath when compiling.
    You should find this file in the lib directory of your container.
    It will be called servlet-api.jar (Tomcat) or j2ee.jar (Suns J2EE server) or something along those lines.
    The j2ee tutorial is a decent place to start learning about servlets...
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/tutorial/doc/
    Good luck,
