Extended internet radio use

Will it hurt or wear out my Macbook (Processor 2.16 GHz Intl Core 2 Duo... 1 gig 667 MHz DDR sdram OS X 10.4) to listen to a internet stream all night? What about i tunes?
I was concerned about prolonged heat and wearing the chip set or hard drives out.

Will it hurt? Nope. Will it wear it out? Sure, just like anything that gets used, it's going to wear. You can use your Macbook 24/7 without risk of it dying off - if there are problems then you have a standard warranty to fall back on.
As for heating issues, just make sure your Macbook is on a flat surface so the bottom of the case can get some air.

  • How to listen to internet radio using iTunes

Before I upgraded I used to be able to go to a list of radio stations all over the country to listen to local news but cannot do so anymore. How do I find such using the new version of  iTunes

Theproblem is there is no such option as you suggest. Look at the attached screen shot to see what I see when I have the iTunes app open. There is no option to click on Internet!!!

  • Playing Internet radio using safari on iPad (works fine on my MacBook pro)

How can I play my Greek eradio site?
    http://eradio.gr/categories/greeklaiko.asp

In general you don't use Safari for such things, because the iPad does not support the apps required to play the audio. Instead you use a radio app.  I find Reciva works well, but don't know whether it has the station you want.

  • Broadcasting Live Internet Radio Using NiceCast

So I want to start using NiceCast and broadcast live shows. My question really has to do with the server options and what not. NiceCast can only be installed on Mac Machines, but if I have Windows XP users that are in other locations across state, can they somehow connect THEIR Windows program to my NiceCast server and broadcast their part of the show using whatever program theyre using?? Thanks!

Download and set up QuickTime Broadcaster. Note that the usage of QuickTime Streaming Server requires Mac OS X Server.

  • Still no Nokia Internet Radio for N97?!

In order to listen to Internet radio, like I always do with my N96, I have to purchase the JoikuSpot so that my N97 can become a Wi-Fi hotspot.  And then I have to use my old N96 to connect to my N97 via Wi-Fi and listen to Internet radio using the N96.  A temporary solution, I am OK with it.  But this long wait is getting silly.  And there ain't any other alternatives in the OVI Store either.  No, not in firmware version 20.  I hope Nokia can release a timeline or even a statement if and when, if or not Nokia Internet Radio will appear in N97 (and other touchscreen phones).
And no, the version in OVI Store supposedly for the N97 cannot be installed.

  • Playing internet radio on computer cannot connect

I am trying to listen Internet Radio using iTunes in my Windows pc. But, when select a station gets a new window "Opening URL" with the message "connecting..." and stays like that forever. How can I fix that conection?

it may use Flash which is not yet available for the iPhone....
...it possibly could be available soon through the new AppStore...but no one really knows for sure....Adobe, maker of Flash, has said they are in the works trying to develop an application for the iPhone, but not much more info has come out since

  • How to use my iPhone 4 to select Internet radio stations on MacBook Pro

Okay, once again I return here to seek guidance and wisdom.  Fellow members here told me about Air Video, a terrific set of programs for iOS and OS X to stream videos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4.  It is awesome!
Now, my other need (?).  I want to run something on my Mac that lets me select Internet radio station streams like TuneIn for ex., but I want to be able to change selections on whatever is on the Mac from the iPhone 4.  What I want to do is use the iPhone 4 as a remote for the app on the Mac which I want to connect to either some external speakers or someday to a real external Dac, amp, and speakers.
I have the TuneIn Pro app on my iPhone 4 already and on the Mac via browser have accessed their website.
Now someone surely is going to mention Airplay or something to stream from the iPhone4.  From the cost of Airplay capable hardware, I just can't afford it yet.  Maybe if I could find Bluetooth speaker or device?
One other thing to throw in for thought.  I have not only iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but also Fidelia and Amarra, and thinking about Decibel or Audirvana.  In other words somewhat hi-def music output quality available on the Mac.  So....I do have a remote app for Fidelia and think there's one for either Decibel or Audirvana, so that brings me back to Internet radio on the MacBook Pro.  If I can find a way to use the iPhone 4 to select an app on the Mac for Internet radio, I can play those plus hi-def music via one of those programs.
I probably didn't say all that right, but I hope you can decipher what I am asking about.
If nothing else, can you recommend inexpensive Bluetooth speakers to play radio from the iPhone4?  I was hoping to buy some AudioEngine powered speakers for the Mac, hence the desire to run all sound/music through that device but using the iPhone4 as control device.

    Hi Starbux48
First off. The benefits of using Amarra, Pure Music, Audirvana or whatever, can only be heard if you have a true audiophile system set-up. Think of systems starting from 5000 U$. Then only if your music files are high resolution. Think ALAC or FLAC, AIFF or Wave.  For all other music playing the itunes set-up suffices. So the better idea for you will be playing the music over your macbook.
Mountain lion offers airplay for intel based macs. You can use this. If you install the free Remote App. on your iPhone, you can use that to control itunes on your Macbook via wifi/Airplay. The remote app offers you the view of itunes on your Macbook and the screen of your Macbook changes with what you do on your iPhone. So you can even control the itunes radiostation from your iPhone.
If you have an older, non-intel macbook, you can install airserver on your macbook. This will set you back 15 dollars or so, but will basically do the same.

  • How to use a Mac for broadcasting an internet radio station?

    Hi
Have been toying with the idea of starting my own internet radio station. I have a new Macbook Pro and one Macbook from 4 years ago (updated to Yosemite though), and I have been wondering if Apple itself loads any capabilities into their hardware for starting off a slick and professional sounding radio broadcast.
If one uses cloud tech, could the station be run with minimal requirements of storage etc at my end? Could iOS be a possibility if combined with other content over cloud?
    Thanks for any tips.

    Yes.
Although you will likely have much simpler and more satisfying results by having at least one of your Macs repaired, depending on which Macs you have and which Mac OS you use with them, there are at least the following possibilities:
      • Screen sharing overview
      • Allow access using Remote Desktop
      • Use another Mac as a display (Target Display Mod

I don't know if this is what you really want, but I created a Playlist for Radio, and add some of the stations I like from websites. (If you click on the web-links they load into iTunes in the Sidebar). And you can also add individual Radio stations from the top right,(under Apple) to a Playlist. That's the only way I know to have them in the Sidebar.
Z_ZS-B, You also helped me to find the old Radio list! I didn't even know it was up on the right, under Apple. I haven't liked this version of iTunes so I hadn't even bothered to try and figure it out until now, but because I just bought a my first iPod Shuffle I'm determined to bend this version to my will. ;-)

  • Problem in using Nokia E-63 Internet Radio

I am using Nokia E-63, I have installed Internet Radio software on it and it was working fine for the past few days. 2-days back it prompted me for an update, when it was finished I received the following error when I tried playing it:
    "Internet Radio: Feature not supported"
I have tried installing it twice or thrice again but the same problem occurs. Please advice what to do?

  • Using Internet radio

Hi everyone - I'm completely new to the iPod - I got my first (second gen shuffle) yesterday ... I mainly got it because I wanted to listen to podcasts and Internet radio. Problem is, I don't know how to do that... I really want to use Internet Radio with it - specifically Beatlesarama - could anyone help? Thanks.

You can't listen to internet radio on an iPod because iPods have no way of connecting to the interenet. You could record internet radio programs using something like Audio Hijack and then transfer the recordings to your iPod.

  • Use iTunes for internet radio - settings question

    Hi all,
I have a Linn Klimax DS (digital streaming) unit as part of an audio system, and that's being fed over my Cat5 network by a Twonky MediaServer installed on one of my mac's. That Twonky setup has SHOUTcast enabled and was serving internet radio fine and identified the stations until I installed iTunes 8 yesterday. I made the mistake of clicking on the button that says 'Use iTunes for Internet radio' in the preferences-> advanced->general pane.
Basically, I need to find out what precisely that setting actually does under the hood, so I can use the command line to reset that, turn it off, or undo basically what it did set.
Hope someone can shed a bit of light on that, maybe even just a hint, as I have been through the console logs, but haven't seen anything that jumps out at me. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Chris

    It's in Preferences>Advanced>General.
    Hope this helps.

Lelisa it is only necessary to connect to the internet periodically to receive updates and validate your membership.  If you have an annual membership you can be offline for up to 99 days.  You can find additional details at Activation & Deactivation Help.
I would also recommend reviewing Creative Cloud Help | Install, update, or uninstall apps which discusses adjusting the installation language.

  • Problems using Yahoo Music - Internet Radio

Usually, I go to the page, click on the "start listening" button and new page loads (in another tab) and the internet radio begins. With FF5 a new page will not load - nothing happens, even tho I've told FF5 that there is an exception (or, I have tried several times - it does not retain the information) to the pop-up blocking. What can I do to fix this issue?
p.s. it works fine in IE, but I don't like that browser!! Yucky!

Just trying to get a better web ;-)
Can you please help sending them some [http://feedback.islanddata.com/clientpages/yahoo/yahoomusicsite/feedback.aspx feedback] pointing them to the bug?
Perhaps Yahoo! Music would then realize I'm not the only one using Firefox =(
