External speaker on ipod touch

Does the ipod touch have an external speaker on it so you don't always have to use headphones?

The +iPod touch+ has a transducer so can make simple sounds, such as Alarms and for calendar events.

  • Connecting external keyboard to iPod touch

    Hi,
Is it possible to connect external keyboard to iPod touch. I saw a article in net which says that we can connect external keyboard to iPod touch with Jailbreaking, which I don't want. Is there any other way to do that?.
    Regards, Arun

You got a point there, jailbreaking might solve a lot of things like attaching an external keyboard to the iPod touch by installing a application in Cyria store which bring support for Bluetooth keyboard. But is not a very safe choice to do that. Since it clearly voids your warranty on the device and youifht have some problems with software issues causing to malfunction of the iPod touch.

Well, right now is not possible to connect an external keyboard to your iPod touch because of some software limitations imposed by apple. There are rumors that since the ipad has the ability to use an external keyboard via Bluetooth that it might come to the smaller screen devices like the iPod touch. Some say via an software OS update, but let's see if it's true.
As of today, the only real solution as to connecting a physical keyboard on the device is by a product that was released last year by Mobile Mechatronics. It’s called iTwinge – a lightweight keyboard sleeve that attaches to the bottom of the device. I will provide a link to the manufacturer website below, click on the link.

  • External Microphone and Ipod Touch 8GB

I am interested in purchasing a (3rd Generation-whatever is the newest) Ipod Touch. Because I only have about 10GB of music total and limited finances, I only need an 8GB.
I am working for a small newspaper and hoping that I could use the Touch to record interviews.
My questions regarding this endeavor are:
Is the Touch compatible with a cheap external 1/8 jack mic? I don't need the best quality mic or anything. Just one that the Touch recognizes and captures voices coherently.
How much time can the Touch record for? This would probably depend on how much other media is on the iPod.
Does the Touch stay active while recording? Would it go to "sleep?"
I also assume that the file would be saved an mp3 file and I could play it back in iTunes.
    Thanks so much!

The connections inside the 1/8" mini-jack socket are NOT the same as a normal mic. It takes a 4-pole plug, with the mic on poles 3 and 4.
You can get plug-in mics, like this:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-Microphone-Mic-Recorder-for-Apple-iPod-iPhone-3G_W0QQ itemZ280413087186
An app. like Griffin iTalk Recorder gives you more options than the built-in Voice Memos app. It records to aiff (not MP3) files in good, better or best quality (11kHz, 22kHz, 44kHz respectively). You can play them in iTunes or Quicktime Player.
It only records in mono, and to get any sort of decent recording with that mic (no cable), you MUST stick the iPod+mic. near the speaker's mouth - but I guess as a reporter, you know that!!

  • No sound is coming from the internal speaker of iPod touch

The internal speaker on my iPod touch no longer works. I've already reset it, any other ideas? And yes, it did work before.

was it water or physically damaged, if not
then just check the volume button on the right hand side if volume is not low
if still facing issues then u just need to go to an apple store and get it replaced if your device is still under warranty

  • External Charger for iPod touch?

Hi. I got a doubt. Did my old external charger (it works perfectly with my old iPod Photo) works with the new iPod Touch? I'll apreciate any answer. I didn't know if plug it or not. The charger has the same voltage (5V), so I suppose that it gona work just fine.

any ipod charger should work fine. if you are talking about the one that came with the ipod photo, yes that should work.

  • Please help : external mic for ipod touch 4G?

    hye,
so I'm not an audio professional, just a student wanting to quality-record lectures.
I understood 4G ipod touch only accepts mono recordings, which is fine with me (it's just for voice...).
Now, what external microphones are compatible with my ipod touch (running iOS 5.0.1.) for improving audio recording?
Would adding adding a deadcat fuzzy be helpful (maybe it'll reduce the recording's size?).
Thanks for any help on this!

    - See if this program will place it in recovery mode since that erases the iPod and bypasses the passocode.

  • External mic on iPod Touch

I want to use an external mic on my iPod Touch instead of using one integrated with earphones.
How do I do that? Which adapter do I need or what kind of plug does the mic need?

I use a small mic from Griffin now which enables me to record.

  • Recommend an external mic for iPod touch 4g

I bought a Mikey which I now learn is not compatible with the 4th gen touch. Any suggestions? I couldn't find anything that resembles the Mikey, which is what I would prefer, as opposed to a more conventional shaped microphone.
    Thanks!

  • A few IMPORTANT observations about the iPod Touch (MUST READ)

While doing research on iPod Touch (to purchase for myself), I discovered the following review http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/apple-ipod-touch-8gb-16gb/P0
It is by far a VERY detailed review of the iPod Touch.
One thing that i had noticed before was that on the comparison page of the iPod's the 8GB iPod touch states it can hold up to 1750 songs, while the iPod Nano 8GB can hold 2000 songs. Which lead me to ask why.
    In the review, it says:
iPod nano 8GB = 7.41GB available free space
    iPhone 8GB = 7.24GB available free space
iPod Touch = 7.08GB available free space
Now i understand that the iPod Touch and iPhone use OSX and that uses a large chunk of space, but why is there 160mb missing? You'd think that the iPod Touch would have MORE available space than the iPhone, since a LOT of the applications are missing, as well as there is less hardware installed = less drivers.
Now I kind of agree with the reviewer when he says that the iPod Touch is a downgrade from the iPhone. Technically speaking the iPod touch is the most expensive and top of the line in the iPod family, yet it suffers a huge loss when compared to the iPhone.
The following things are missing from the iPod touch (at the cost of $100 less): Dock, charger, camera, external speaker, microphone, battery life, screen quality, resilient back casing, Bluetooth, and several applications!
Now someone might ask, Saeid just get an iPhone then. But the problem is that the iPhone is NOT available in Canada (officially) and IF one day it does become available, chances are it would be with a contract on Rogers (i'm on Fido).
I look forward to your views on the matter. Perhaps i AM over looking a few things. I am a HUGE fan of Apple, i ask because i usually look at EVERY single aspect of something before i make a purchase.
    Saeid.
P.s. Forgot to mention that in the review, it also states that the Sync (upload) time is much slower on the iPod Touch than the iPhone. The battery life one might argue is due to the fact that the Touch is smaller in size, but how would you explain the rest of the issues?

I am probably one of the few people on the planet who seldom uses a mobile phone. I have only a bare-bones phone plan. When I use a camera, I want one that takes high quality photos. At this point, I don't care that much about Bluetooth or a microphone.
I bought my Touch for the expanded music & video storage. I prefer flash memory to a hard drive so I didn't choose the iPod Classic. The Wi-fi is a bonus that works well for me. It would be nice if I had access to the Web all the time, but I don't want the ongoing monthly costs for an iPhone.
I've had my Touch for almost two months. It was an excellent choice for me. Chris Breen of Playlist revisits the Touch in his blog. Take a look at it for some good points: http://playlistmag.com/weblogs/ipodblog/index.php#61228

  • External speaker audio quality

I find that the audio quality from the external speaker on my Touch is very poor.
I don't have to turn the volume up very much before the sound starts to become distorted. Anything close to half of the full volume or higher, the distortion is so bad it's not even worth listening to.
This problem is most noticeable when using the external speaker to listen to music. I don't notice it when listening to audio from a video on YouTube.
I realize that this speaker must be extremely small and that the audio won't be the greatest but, just wondering if this is a common characteristic or if it's a problem with my unit.

P Fleming wrote:Anything close to half of the full volume or higher, the distortion is so bad it's not even worth listening to.
It's still better than nothing. It beats having to dig out the headphones or speakers when you don't have it plugged in.

  • Does iPod Touch 2G work with Belkin's TuneSync (F5U255) ?

Hello. I have a question about iPod Touch and its 3rd party docking accessory called Belkin's TuneSync.
This product which was released a couple of years ago, provides 5 USB ports HUB and iPod docking station.
OFFICIALLY, it supports up to iPod 5G, also known as video iPod, but a substantial number of people confirmed that it works fine with iPod classic, iPod nano, iPod touch 1G, and also the first iPhone.
On the other hand, some people reported that it doesn't work well with iPod touch 2G and the latest iPhone, 3G.
I was confused because I've seen some people's reports which show they are using this docking station with their iPod touch 2G.
Although a guy claims that Apple has changes iPod's charging and syncing mechanism since 2008 September when iPod touch 2G and nano 4G were released so it can be hard to sync them with former generation of accessories, nothing is sure for me.
Is anyone using this docking station with iPod touch 2G?

    I'm answering my own question.
It partly works. Syncing and charging are perfect but audio line out doesn't work.
I'm OK with that because I don't think I am gonna use that port but if you are one of them who want to attach a pair of external speakers for iPod touch 2nd gen, you should re-consider the purchase.

    I would try in oreder:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • How do i turn off the external speaker on my brand new iPod touch

how do i turn off the external speaker on my brand new iPod touch - it is very annoying

Just turn the volume fully down using the lower button on the upper left side of the iPod.
You can also go to Settings>Sounds to turn off alert and ringer sounds.

  • Ipod touch 3g external speaker

I have a 3rd gen ipod touch, and out of no where the external speaker stopped working. I've restarted it several times, made sure the volume limit was off, and tried with sound check on an off. It works fine with headphones in though. Also i'm really trying to not have to restore it.

I'm having the same problem with my 4th gen iTouch. I purchased an iTouch 4th generation which worked fine for a month or so, only to have the external speaker stop working all together. I returned it to Best Buy, and they gave me a new one.
Now the new 4G iTouch is doing the same thing, but a little different. I can listen to my voice recorder using my external speaker, but I can't hear anything else (YouTube, other apps) through the external speaker.
I've checked my settings countless times, and can't figure out what's up. Another trip to Best Buy? Or is it me? I will try the reset & restore.
