Extract a number (or specific value) from a string for calculation purposes

Hi everyone
I have a column other_remarks (for general medical remarks of string(300)). In that field doctors are writing many inormative details, found while examining a patient.
== Sample Data ==
"test asdad asd asdhkl BMI 30 askdhja ad has 45"
"patient is improving BMI: 30 askdhja ad has weight 89"
"BMI:20 ghghh jkghjk hjgfj akls dkl 234 fasdf2345 sda234"
I want to extract the number written after word BMI or want to calculate how many patients have BMI:
(i) less than 30,
(ii) and >= 30 and <45 , and
(iii) more than 45.
Please note that every user is writing BMI word first and than the the integer value, while there might be many other numbers in the string. And I have Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0 which dont have REGEXP_Replace function available.

  • How to extract values from pricing procedure for conditions in CRM Billing?

    I have a number of conditions in the pricing procedure in CRM Billing that I would like to extract to SAP BW. How can this be done?
    Is there a standard extractor for CRM Billing similar to the SD Billing extractor "Extraction of SD Billing Conditions" (2LIS_13_VDKON)?
    If there is no standard extractor, is there another way to extract the conditions and the related values?
    I am using the standard CRM Billing Extractor 0BEA_CRMB already, so maybe an append could solve my problem. How can this be done? In what CRM-tables can I find the values from pricing procedure for conditions in CRM Billing?

    you may want to post that last question in a CRM forum... in ECC it would be table KONV

  • How to extract specific line from a string

    Hi guys.
    I?m starting to work with java...
    i have the following data inside a string variable:
    0 rows inserted.
    0 rows updated.
    0 rows ignored.
    98 rows marked as deleted.
    0 rows have no country.
    3345 rows have no geo.
    0 rows are invalid.
    what i want to do i to extract the number of rows marked as delete.
    I think that i figured out how to extract the number from this line :"98 rows marked as deleted."
    but how do i get to that line?
    I hope you can Help me. Thanks.

    the string is the result from a Function... this function gets the info from a store procedure...
                   rta = "Results for " + dh.getSource() + " source:\n" +
    dh.getInsertedCount() + " rows inserted.\n" +

    i can?t change this function...
    so i need to work with the returned value...
    i what thinking to use the following method to extract te number...
    private int GetNumericValue(string sVal)
    int iFirst, iCharVal, iEnd;
    int iMult = 1, iRet = 0;
    char[] aNumbers = "1234567890".ToCharArray();
    iFirst = sVal.IndexOfAny(aNumbers);
    iEnd = sVal.LastIndexOfAny(aNumbers);
    if (iEnd < 0)
    return 0;
    string subStr = sVal.Substring(iFirst, iEnd - iFirst + 1);
    iEnd = subStr.Length - 1;
    while (subStr.Length > 0)
    iCharVal = int.Parse(subStr[subStr.Length-1].ToString());
    iRet += iMult * iCharVal;
    iMult *= 10;
    if (iEnd <= 0)
    break;
    subStr = subStr.Substring(0, subStr.Length - 1);
    iEnd = subStr.LastIndexOfAny(aNumbers);
    subStr = sVal.Substring(iFirst, iEnd + 1);
    return iRet;
    but i still need the 4rd line to extract the number

  • How to extract an integer or a float value from a String of characters

    Hi i have a problem getting to a float value within a string of characters..
    for instance the string is
    "numberItem xxxxxxxxx 700.0" (each x is a space..the forum wouldnt let me put normal spaces for some reason)
    how do i store 700.0 in a float variable
    remember the string is obtained from an inputfile
    so far i got the program to store the inputfile data line by line in a String array..i tried tokenizing the string to get to the the float value but since i have mulitple spaces within my string, the token method only gets "numberItem" from the above String
    This is all i have so far:
    String c;
    String Array[] =new String[g]; (i used a while loop to obtain g(the nubmer of lines in the file))
    while((c=(cr.readLine()))!=null)
    Array[coun]=c;
    it would be reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly easy if there was a predefined method to extract numeric values from a string in java..

    Not true.
    Anyway why not use string split, split on spaces and grab the last element (which by the format you posted would be your 700.0)
    Then there is the Float.parseFloat method.
    It is easy.
    And another thing why not use a List of Strings if you want to store each line? (And why did you post that code which doesn't really have anything to do with your problem?) Also in future please use the code formatting tags when posting code. Select the code you are posting in the message box and click the CODE button.

  • How to get one value from multiple duplication for a key figure field

    Hi expert,
          I have a infoprovider, with following format:
            employee     hourly_rate   action_type  count of action
         there are multiple rows for each employee, I want to create query as follows:
            employee     hourly_rate   action_type  count of action
         in which hourly_rate is constant , only retriving one value from multiple rows for one employee, count of action should be summarized.
    how to get this hourly_rate.
    Many Thanks,

    Hi,
    put the employee in rows panel -> reaming object put it in free char panel.
    suppress the all result rows for the all object except employee .
    select the object -> go to query properties -> select display tab -> select result rows -> select suppress.
    select the employee -> go to query properties -> select display tab -> select result rows -> select always display. - now it will give employee wise hourly rate summarize data.
    Thanks,
    Phani.

  • Getting char values from a string problem

    Hi,
    Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:
    boolean loopSwitch = true;
    while (loopSwitch)
         String orderDecider = JOptionPane.showInputDialog (null, "Would you like your numbers to be ordered in   ascending or descending order(A/D)",      "Order decision", JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);
         if (orderDecider == A)
         loopSwitch = false;
         }I basically want the user to input either a/A/d/D and to get the char values from the string so I can use them in an if statement.
    Basically, I wanna parse the string into a char.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks.
    Edited by: xcd on Oct 16, 2009 8:38 AM

    Why not just use the String.equals() method to compare a String to a String?
    But if you must, you can use the String.charAt() method to return a char at a particular location in the String.
    Note: char literals need to be surrounded by single quotes ('A') and String literals need to be surrounded by double quotes ("A").

  • How to extract an element value from a String of HTML

    I have a web service that returns a fragment of HTML that contains a number in a table. The return parameter type is a string. I need to get this number and use it in a BPEL while loop, as the condition for the loop (while the number > 0).
    I have tried using the function bpws:getVariableData() but the BPEL PM faults and says: XPath expression failed to execute. Error while processing xpath expression. I think this is because I am trying to apply an XPath expression over a String variable.
    The return value from my web service looks like this:
    <whileConditionResultSet>
    <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance" name="response">
    <ns1:string_Response xmlns:ns1="http://systinet.com/xsd/SchemaTypes/"
         xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="d:string">
         <p>SQL Query: select count(*) from delta_manages</p>
         <p><table border='1'>
              <tr> <th bgcolor='#C0C0C0'>COUNT(*)</th></tr>
              <tr> <td>28</td></tr>
              </table>
         </p></ns1:string_Response>
    </part>
    </whileConditionResultSet>
    How do I get the value from the HTML table into a BPEL variable?

    the doSqlService() which executes an arbitrary SQL statement, returns a string of HTML like this:
    <doSqlServiceResponse>
    <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance" name="response">
    <ns1:string_Response xmlns:ns1="http://systinet.com/xsd/SchemaTypes/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="d:string"><p>SQL Query: select count(*) from delta_manages</p> <p><table border='1'> <tr> <th bgcolor='#C0C0C0'>COUNT(*)</th></tr> <tr> <td>14</td></tr> </table></p></ns1:string_Response>
    </part>
    I then copy the result to the whileResultString variable
    <variable name="whileResultString" type="xsd:string"/>
    <copy>
                                       <from variable="doSqlServiceResponse" part="response" query="/ns1:string_Response">
                                       </from>
                                       <to variable="whileResultString"/>
                                  </copy>
    I realise too, a root element will be needed. This is not a mission critical problem as we could change the web service at the other end. It was originally designed for a client to display the results rather than use them within a business process. Anyway, I'm just interested to know if I can create a node from this string data in BPEL.
    Ross.

  • How to extract sub string value from a string?

    Hi,
    I need to know how can i extract sub strings from a main
    string, something like this:
    main variable-------->"2087-5E2SE-19-JG7BC"
    i want to split it into like this:
    sub_main_1 variable---------> "2087"
    sub_main_2 variable---------> "5E2SE"
    sub_main_2 variable---------> "19"
    sub_main_2 variable---------> "JG7BC"
    I did the same in flash by using Split and arrays, like this:
    var my_str:String = "2087-5E2SE-19-JG7BC";
    var my_array:Array = my_str.split("-");
    for (var i = 0; i<my_array.length; i++) {
    trace(my_array
    this.aaa1 = my_array[1];
    this.aaa2 = my_array[2];
    this.aaa3 = my_array[3];
    this.aaa4 = my_array[4];
    My question is that how can i do the same in director ?? i
    haven't find any split function in director.
    Thanks in advance,
    Amir

    You do a similar thing in Director using the itemDelimiter,
    which is a
    _player object property in MX2004. By default, it's a comma:
    put _player.itemDelimiter
    It will let you get specific items within a string.
    p = "2087-5E2SE-19-JG7BC"
    _player.itemDelimiter = "-"
    put p.item[1]
    -- "2087"
    You could use it to write yourself a little split function:
    on split(theString, theDelimiter)
    oldDelim = _player.itemDelimiter
    _player.itemDelimiter = theDelimiter
    itemList = []
    repeat with cnt = 1 to theString.item.count
    itemList.add(theString.item[cnt])
    end repeat
    return itemList
    end
    p = "2087-5E2SE-19-JG7BC"
    a = split(p, "-")
    put a
    -- ["2087", "5E2SE", "19", "JG7BC"]

    what you mean by "naam" ?
    If the value has a specific format like as you write "1-xyz,99-fgj". you can use instr function and substr function to cut it out..
    Hope this helps.

  • Naming an ArrayList using value from a String variable

    I am trying to name an ArrayList the value of a String variable in this code:
    public void addstudent(String name)
    ArrayList //i need a name here// = new ArrayList();
    I want to use the String //name// that will be used when the method is called. What do I do? I tried using:
    ArrayList (String.valueOf(name)) = new ArrayList();
    That didn't work.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Its suppossed to allow the user to input the student's name, grades for 4 specific subjects. Then take that and organize the students by name alphabetically. It is also suppossed to allow the user to search for users by grades, like find everybody with a GPA of 3.7 or higher or find everybody with a GPA of 3.5. This was a project asigned by my intro computer science teacher. I was suppossed to make it with 2D arrays but that was lousy because you were then limited to a specific number of students without editing the code. I'm not familiar with all the different ways of doing this. My computer science teacher said that I could do it with a HashSet.
    Okay. You have a String. Let's suppose it contains "fred" or something like that -- you didn't say what was in it so we have to speculate. Next, you want to create an ArrayList from that? What does that mean? You want to end up with an ArrayList that contains one entry, that string? Or what?
    In your example I would want to start by giving the method "fred" as the name parameter. So right now the String (name) has the value of "fred". I then wanted to make an ArrayList for that student named fred. This ArrayList would have 4 grades for that student fred. This ArrayList for fred would be part of a HashSet for the whole group of students. That way when I wanted to search alphabetically, I would just sort the HashSet. My computer science teacher said this would work.
    Thanks

  • Access af:table values from JavaScript array (for google maps task)

    Hi!
    I have JSP page with af:table where latitude and longitude for google maps are stored. I am using these tutorial [https://blogs.oracle.com/middleware/entry/integrating_google_maps_with_adf] and I know how to access latitude and longitude from output text (for one point). Now i need to do something similar with loop for all table rows. How can I achieve this?
    I have JavaScript code which uses Google Maps API and can display many points on one map. Also I have longitude and latitude data in af:table (bindings), each table row has one point. My task is to take data from af:table and pass it to JavaScript.
    May be it is better to use managed bean as you said. Firstly I will access binding data from managed bean. Then I have to pass this data to JavaScript method? Can you suggest some example? I have "Using JavaScript in ADF Faces Rich Client Applications"

    My table is there :
    <af:table value="#{bindings.LocView1.collectionModel}" var="row"

  • Removing Null values from character string

    Hi All,
    Can i remove NULL values (hexadecimal - 0000) from character string. I am uploading a file from presentation layer (shared server) and getting NULL values in many fields which i want to remove.
    please assist.
    Thanks for you help..
    Regards,
    Mohaiyuddin

    Hi,
    Most likely, nobody needed it, but if anybody in future will need the solution for related problem  - here's solution:
    data: lv_nullchar type xstring value '0'.
    shift lv_xstring right deleting trailing lv_nullchar in byte mode.
    shift lv_xstring left deleting leading lv_nullchar in byte mode.
    This hack deleting null chars in lv_xstring at end file and at begining of file. Works perfect for me, where i also worked with files.

  • How to take the values from a  String ( CSV   values).

    Hi All,
    I am passing csv String to a procedure as in parameter,but I have to take the values from a csv String one by one.Please let me know Is there any StringTokenizer function in oracle to take values like in java. Here is my javacode.
    import java.util.StringTokenizer;
    public class Sample {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              String s="one,two,three,four,five";
              StringTokenizer stringTokenizer=new StringTokenizer(s,",");
              System.out.println( stringTokenizer.countTokens());
              System.out.println(stringTokenizer.hasMoreTokens());
              while(stringTokenizer.hasMoreTokens()){
                        System.out.print(stringTokenizer.nextToken());
    o/p: one two three four five

    Something based around one of these two methods should assist...
    select substr( the_string
                  , decode( level, 1, 1, instr(the_string,',',1,level-1)+1)
                  , decode( instr(the_string,',',1,level), 0, length(the_string), instr(the_string,',',1,level) - decode( level, 1, 0, instr(the_string,',',1,level-1))-1)
                  ) the_value
                  from ( select '10,12,20,30,30,3,12,12,56' the_string
                         from dual
                  connect by level < length(replace(translate(the_string,'01234567890','00000000000'),'0')) + 2

  • Pick value from file in FOR loop

    Hello All,
    I was trying to delete records from database day by day and commit. Is it possible to pick the dates from file and then delete the database record for that day. Something like below.
    For day IN <File.txt>
    LOOP
    delete from table where date = '<1st value from File.txt>';
    commit;
    END LOOP;
    I have to do this from unix box, so i can place the file (with list of dates as input) in the path from where i am issuing sqlplus.
    Please suggest any other way to delete it day by day is most welcome.
    Thanks.

Something like below.You an use EXTERNAL TABLE (Or SQL Loader, if the file cannot be moved to the DB server) to read from a file and it can be used in your DELETE statements just as a normal table.

    LOOP is a bad idea.. You could do it in a single statement..
    delete from table where date in (select the_date_coumn from the external_table);
    And COMMIT inside LOOP is again not a good idea..
