Extraction using infoset query.

Hi,
I have an extractor in R/3 which is using infoset for extraction. The infoset contains some logic for extraction. I want to debugg the infoset. As the infoset is not attached to a query how can i debugg the code written in infoset.

If the problem is in the data which is being extracted from R/3 then debug the datasource by:
use transaction RSA3 in R/3 to execute the datasource and put a tick in the option "Debug Mode".

Generic Extraction using Infoset Query

Hi Experts,
I am trying to create on Infoset query on the R3 side for creating one generic Extractor Joining EKKO and EKPO table.
u2022I have created the User group in SQ03.
u2022I have created the Infoset in SQ02 and selected few 5/6 fields from each EKKO and EKPO tables into the Field Groups of the Infoset.
u2022I have generated the Infoset and assigned it to the user group created on SQ03
u2022I have created a query on SQ01 using this Infoset and deselected the u201Ctextu201D fields created by default and selected the Basic list. Done everything needs to be done in there.
Now when I am going to RSO2 and created the extractor using that Infoset, I am not seeing the Function groups that I have created in the Infoset in the Extract Structure, rather its pulling all the fields that is there in the Infoset joining both tables. It should show me those 5/6 fields that is there in the field group.
I just want to see only those 5/6 fields in the extract structure of the DS.
I am not sure what is missing.
Any documentation on the same or if anyone faced similar problem, please help.

Hi,
You can create the infosets in r/3 using the t code Sq01,sq03 etc.
You can create a generic extractor in r/3 using the tcode rso2 and that you can specify the infoset name.

GDS using infoset query

Dear All,
I need to create a GDS using 2 tables COSP and BSEG.
BSEG is cluster table and COSP is transparent table ... Can i create GDS using Infoset query ...

Extraction using ABAP Query

Hi Experts,
I have a data source in which the extraction is using ABAP Query. From RSA2 I got the infoset name. I would like to know if the extraction logic is put inside this infoset. If so how to see the extractor ouput in R/3 and how to debugg the infoset. I can't put break point in infoset. I tried to debugg the extractor through rsa3 and it is not going to the infoset also.
Please help me as I don't have any experience in BI.

Hi Soumya,
Infosets are similar to views created on different tables by linking them with one another. So instead of debugging one should look for how this tables have been linked in tcode SQ01.

Using Infoset query

Dear Experts and friends,
I have created a infoset using the logical database sdf, and have created a query adding two more tables( mara and marm) giving conditions.
The problem is when i try to add some fields under basic list for list output the message comes " You placed fields from different parallel branches of the hierarchical data source in the same line. . This makes no sense. The list will not be displayed as you desire. . List is only displayed in simple format for correction purposes. . Please check the sequence. Button allows you to color list fields according to the hierarchy".
I have tried all the possibilities of list order and still the message comes.
eg.
when i tick the profit center(faglfreesel-prctr) first and then material number(bseg-matnr) , this error message comes.
Please tell a solution for this as this report wants to be moved to the production server this week end..

   i had created the report for the HR in SQ01 there they asked me to display the personal area in the header dynamically which they select in the screen .. Can any of u give some solution for it

Please follow the full process ..
Most easiest way to create
Decide on the various Infotypes we want to make the query. Decide on the area where we want to query i.e Global area or Standard area. Standard area is client specific and globel area will include all clients.
Menu : HR u2013 PM u2013 Admn - Information System - Adhoc Query
Select area standard and select the user group already created
Creation of new query :
TC SQ03 - Select Environment u2013 Select Standard Area - Enter -- If new user group is to be created, enter name of the user group, click on create and enter necessary information and exit after saving
TC SQ02 - Enter name of the Infoset u2013 Create u2013 enter name of Infoset - Data source -- > Table join by basis table u2013 give name of table e.g pa0000 - Enter - Click on insert table if we want to include more tables u2013 give name of table one by one and after finishing, place cursor on the joining lines and right click to delete unwanted relationships - check - and go back - field groups - include all table fields - click on generate button   - go out
TC SQ03 - Select user group -   eg. Payroll
Infoset - Enter name of newly created Infoset
Assign users and Infosets - Assign infosets - put tick on payroll - save and go back
TC PAAH - Expand the nodes and put tick on relevant fields depending upon necessity
Save the query by giving the same name as infoset for easyness..

When to go for generic extraction using view and infoset query?

Can anyone clarify me when we should go for generic extraction using view and when we should go for generic extraction using infoset query....
Also what is the difference between view and infoset?

Hi Kalyani,
We normally go for View or infoset when the data to be fetched in BW is distributed in different tables in SAP R/3.
Had the data been available in one table we can easily build our datasource on that table but if there are more tables then its not possible to do it without Views or Infosets. You can use Function Modules to build your datasource in case it involves complex logic to figure out the data from various tables.
Depending upon the table relationships we create view and include various fields from these tables in that view. Same is with the Infosets, you can have more flexible options like Outer Join, left outer Join etc.

Generic Extraction - query view and infoset query difference

Hi Guys,
I want to know the Generic datasource difference between Extraction from view and Extraction from Query .I have read some threads and documents, still i am not getting the exact difference.
My understanding :
Views: combination of tables to view the end result , we use views.
Infoset query also with help of SQ01, 02, 03 : we combine tables to see the result.
both use primary key to select the data.
Please help me.

When we build the datasource on the View
View is basically a table in which you can take data from many table combniation .
in view you can specify the table join condtion and selection condtion
View data gets updated as the data in the source table gets updated
When we build the datasource on the Infoset
Data source str gets filled from the infoset query .you need to use SQ01 and Sq02 transaction for this
in infoset you can define the tables from which you want to read the date .There is also facilty to write ABAP code which will process the data and fill the the data source str using infoset query
infoset query read the data from infoset and transfer to data structure

Advices about creating a datasource from an infoset query

i have to create a datasource with extraction from an infoset query in R3, i have many questions:
1- i have heard about the bad performance using a Datasource from an Infoset query, how can i improve this?
2- The infoset query doesnt exist in R3 Develop, but this exist in R3 Prod, what do i must to do? create a false infosetquery in R3 D, with just the same name of the info set query in R3 Prod? or what else?,
3- some material to improve this development about create datasources from an infoset query.

Hi,
You can verywell use infoset query if you are doing following things
Join using Keyfields to retreive data from tables
If not using keyfields create index for those table fields in those fields which will improve in accessing database
Try to use minimum of tables of small size dont try to join big tables like GLPCA and all.
Try to load small set of data like a period or month. Dont try for a year or so.
if your performance is good for aperiod you can go for a year.
If you are good in function module you can try function module in which you will have the option of specifying no of records to be selected usign package size.

Generic extraction using table

Hello friends,
We have three methods in Generic extraction, as we know.
1. Using view/Table
2. Using FM
3. Using Infoset Query
I know pretty well the extraction using View, but when do we use "Table"?
Is there a specific method to perform generic extraction using TABLE?

In case of a generic extraction with view, i've followed the below procedure.
1. RSO2.
2.create a generic datasource by giving a view name and selecting the fields for selection criteria, save and generate.
3. replicate data sources in BW.
4. create an infosource and assign the data source, mapping and create an infopackage to load data.
Now ,
1. how do we enable Delta for this method?
2. Is this possible at all? if yes, how?
3. How do we proceed after the replication of DataSources in BI? specifically, procedure in BI?
Pls clarify.

Infoset Query Usage

I am trying to create generic data source in RSO2 by using Infoset Query Method.I would like to extract around 7 lakh records from it.
my query is: how about desiging an infoset query which has to pull around 7 lakh records once in a month?

i want to know the step by step procedure for this extraction and also why we need to go for this, i mean in which scenario this is the best method. and do we need to write any abap code for doing this.and also i need what alla transaction codes we use including concepts.

1> I don't have a step by step procedre doc. But, there is a sample fucntion module, RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE. You can take a look at this to create urs.
2> It is an alternative to the of using InfoSet query (using ABAP datasource) where you cannot split the data to be extracted into DataPackages. So, it is very helpful for huge extracts.
3> Yes, you have to write ABAP code for this.
4> Transactions used.
Create function module - SE37
Create DataSource using FM - RSO2

Select-options in Infoset Query

Hello experts,
I'm working on a report in SAP HR and using infoset query.
I want to use select-options in my selection screen but without interval. In normal abap report we do this using 'NO INTERVALS' but how to achieve same in infoset query ?

SAP Infoset Query Reporting Set Restriction by Org. Structure

Dear Experts,
I am giving some new users a demo on using Infoset Query on an IDES server.
I am using the user group Personnel Administration (PA) and the HRDATA infoset.
As per my understanding, I should be able to restrict the reporting set according to organizational structure as the infoset is based on logical database PNP. However I am only seeing "No. of hits" in the restrict by drop-down (as can also be seen in the screenshot).
What am I missing to be able to see the restrict by option of "Persons along organizational structure"?
All assistance in this regard is really appreciated.

Thankyou for your response.
Your solution is perfectly sound for fulfilling the purpose.
However, because I am conducting a demo, I thought a reporting set restriction on the main screen would be more appealing, than an additional selection screen.
In a demo screenshot I have seen that the restrict by option "Persons along organizational structure", is listed right under "No. of hits" like in my screen shot. Can you shed some light on that. I am attaching the demo screenshot I am talking about for reference as well

I am having the requirement as I need to put default values in the selecion-screen of the report by using Infoset query. Let me know the settings required for this.
I am using SQ01, SQ02, SQ03 T.Codes.
And I need display one record only if any field contains mulitple records, for example in the HR-ABAP, field p0105-usrid contains multiple values depending on the subtype.So, I need to display USRID when URSTY = '900'. All these should display by Infoset query only.
Pls help me in this scenario , its an urgent requirement.I am very much thankful for you for reading my proble, if you will provide some sort of solution, I feel very happy.

To default the values on your selection screen, you will need to do some ABAP I guess. (if you do not want to use variant). Open up the infioset in SQ02 and then goto code option for the PNP**** field and then you can code to initialize the selection screen variables. Test with an ABAPer.
To display multiple records as multiple columns, you will have to create custom fields in infoset, and then go from there. Again see ABAPer.
