Extractor parameter "maxsize " and ABAP parameter "s_s_if-maxsize"

Hi folks
Can anyone explain how the ABAP parameter s_s_if-maxsize is populated in the FETCH of an extractor function module?
- Using RSA3 you get what you set, of course : 100 by default,
- but how does an Infopackage populate this field ?
There are many SAPNOTEs about settings MAXSIZE and MAXLINES, example
- System defaults are 10,000 and  100,000 for each
- you can set them in SBIW (ROIDOCPRMS)
- you can set them again in the infopackage (reduce MAXSIZE) per loading type
etc.
BUT :
What puzzles me is that the setting 'MAXSIZE' in ROIDOCPRMS or in the Infopackage is expressed in Kilo octets, but in the ABAP s_s_if_maxsize is a number of records.
So which is whick and how is it set at runtime in the ABAP ?
Also : Is there a way of running an infopackage in debug mode so I can see what value of s_s_if-maxsize is used in the ABAP on the OLTP system ?
Thanks for any help.
James

  • Examples for SAP Memory and ABAP Memory

    Hi all,
        can u give me one example of sap memory and abap memory.
                                              Ranjith

    Hi,
    <b>SAP Memory</b>
    SAP memory is a memory area to which all main sessions within a SAPgui have access. You can use SAP memory either to pass data from one program to another within a session, or to pass data from one session to another. Application programs that use SAP memory must do so using SPA/GPA parameters (also known as SET/GET parameters). These parameters can be set either for a particular user or for a particular program at the time of logon using the SET PARAMETER statement. Other ABAP programs can then retrieve the set parameters using the GET PARAMETER statement. The most frequent use of SPA/GPA parameters is to fill input fields on screens .
    <b>example:</b>
    ABAP programs can access the parameters using the SET PARAMETER and GET PARAMETERstatements.
    To fill one, use:
    SET PARAMETER ID pid FIELD f
    This statement saves the contents of field f under the ID pid in the SAP memory. The ID pid can be up to 20 characters long. If there was already a value stored under pid, this statement overwrites it. If you double-click pid in the ABAP Editor, parameters that do not exist can be created as a Repository object.
    To read an SPA/GPA parameter, use:
    GET PARAMETER ID pid FIELD f.
    This statement places the value stored under the pid ID into the variable f. If the system does not find any value for pid in the SAP memory, sy-subrc is set to 4. Otherwise, it sets the value to 0.
    <b>ABAP Memory</b>
    ABAP memory is a memory area that all ABAP programs within the same internal session can access using the EXPORT and IMPORT statements. Data within this memory area remains throughout a sequence of program calls, with the exception of LEAVE TO TRANSACTION. To pass data to a program that you are calling, the data needs to be placed in ABAP memory before the call is made from the internal calling session using the EXPORT statement. The internal session of the called program then replaces that of the calling program. The program called can then read from the ABAP memory using the IMPORT statement. If control is then returned to the program that made the initial call, the same procedure operates in reverse.If a transaction is called using LEAVE TO TRANSACTION, the ABAP memory and the call stack are deleted. They cannot be used for data transfer.
    Since objects belonging to ABAP objects can only be accessed within an internal session, it does not make sense and is therefore forbidden (from a syntax point of view) to pass a reference to an object to a calling program through the ABAP memory.
    <b>Example:</b>
    Export hello to memory id 'Hello_world'.
    Import hello from memory id 'Hello_world'

  • SSO and ABAP Web Services

    I am opening this thread on behalf of my colleague Bala regarding SSO and ABAP Web Services.
    We have gone through single sign on options and found several options are available within 5.0.
    We would like to know the options available for SAP ABAP web services access from a Non-SAP system with user authorization but without Portal/ITS installation.
    Also I would like to avoid any hard coding of user id in Non-SAP system .
    Could you provide any information.
    Thanks,
    Bala

    We have gone through single sign on options and found several options are available within 5.0.
    Tell me what are the several options and what is your Non-SAP system?
    without Portal/ITS installation.
    ITS is now an integral part of ECC 5.0 system. So would not need a seperate installation, unlike earlier versions.

  • Netweaver Data base instances for Java and ABAP

    Hello Experts,
    Please help me to understand how the two technology stacks of SAP WAS (Java and ABAP) are configured to use underline data base in Netweaver.
    Is it manadatory to have two separate data base schemas, one for ABAP applications and other for Java applications in the Netweaver?
    If yes..the any idea about what are those schema differences??
    - Rajan

    Hello Krishna,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Is there any way I can access these shemas? Are they the same by structure or there are major differences?
    My requirement is to build a common schema out of these two and have the data from these two schemas to be consolidated in the new schema.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Users mapping between EP and ABAP system

    Hello
    I'd like to ask for some guidance in my quest
    Current situation looks like this:
    I've configured UME in AS Java to work with LDAP as read only data source. Then I've configured SPNego to run SSO - It works, users from MS AD can log into portal.
    Now I have application in WD which authorizes via EP/AD - works fine.
    And next step is users mapping between AD and ABAP backend (serving some BAPI's for WD app)
    I've found a bunch of help pages starting from
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/0b/d82c4142aef623e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    But somehow it's quite complicated to achieve this mapping. I've tried to set RFC destinations logon type to user mapping but without succes.
    Can anyone point me to some more clear example or give path to configure this scenario? Is there a way of configuring this with NWA or some XML file editing is required?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    BTW: whole environment is in version 7.11
    Best regards
    Maciej

    There is no equivalent to SPNEGO on the ABAP side.
    If your goal is to propagate the user, then possible options are:
    -> Wait for SAML 2.0 or invest now in a SAML 1.0 provider.
    -> Use the same kerberos ticket for the EP as what your ABAP system will accept: route = SNC and 3rd party libraries.
    -> Issue SAP logon tickets for the ABAP system from the EP, and use these in your WDA.
    Another option is to expose the service with saved logon data in the ICF. If the service is just a wrapper for the BAPI, then you can also consider using trusted RFC between the service and the backend, but this might not be acceptable for your service.
    I have only done experimental stuff with this and some of the above is not released yet. Also consider the consequences, even if it "does work"...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • 1:n Message split and Abap Proxies??

    Hello,
    Can I not use Message split and Abap Proxy together? My scenario is MDM->File ->XI->Proxy->BI.
    I am getting a single file syndicated from MDM and in XI If I use message mapping to do 1:n split in the message mapping, can I use it with Abap Proxies? As per the link below, XI adapter is not present in the list..We are on PI 7.0 SP14. Thank you..
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/42/ed364cf8593eebe10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
    Thank you for any suggestion..

    Hi Thanujja,
    If you see the message from Raj, I dont think we can split the messages for the proxy. This is beacause the splitting of messages take place at the Adapter Level only for the adapters on the Java stack.
    As suggested by Guru, you can try splitting the messages in the inbound proxy instead of using a BPM, in that way you can acheive good performance.
    Thanks,

    I using the following statement to convert a Internal Table to XML String:
    CALL TRANSFORMATION id SOURCE  root = lt_sflight RESULT XML l_xml_string.
    And I get the XML String:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" ?>
    <asx:abap xmlns:asx="http://www.sap.com/abapxml" version="1.0">
    <asx:values>
    <ROOT>
    <SFLIGHT>
    </SFLIGHT>
    <SFLIGHT>
    </SFLIGHT>
    </ROOT>
    </asx:values>
    </asx:abap>
    But What I expected is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" ?>
    <asx:abap xmlns:asx="http://www.sap.com/abapxml" version="1.0">
    <asx:values>
    <ROOT>
    <DATA>
    </DATA>
    <DATA>
    </DATA>
    </ROOT>
    </asx:values>
    </asx:abap>
    Could you tell me how to get my dream format using XSLT?

  • Java Stack and ABAP Stack

    Hi Experts,
    i am now confused about these two stacks: Java Stack and ABAP Stack.
    for IR objects, like DT, MT, SI, MM, SM, Action, Process Integration Scenario
    for ID objects, like profile agreements, receiver determination, interface determination,
    1. where are these objects stored in? Java or ABAP stack?
    and i know Adapter Engine is run on JAVA Stack while Integration Engine is on ABAP Stack.
    2. how do they call the objects stored in different stack during processing?

    Hi,
    1. where are these objects stored in? Java or ABAP stack?
    These objects are basically developed on the JAVA stack, when they are activated their runtime version is created on ABAP stack, which you can check in SXI_CACHE transaction.
    2. how do they call the objects stored in different stack during processing?
    Runtime versions of these objects are responsible for the execution of the interfaces.
