F Buttons Question:

Is there any way to make it so that I can use the F buttons, not the picture shown on them? For example, how could I press F3 to take a picture in War Craft 3 instead of pressing it and making the sound go off? Thanks for the help!
Sorry if this goes somewhere else.

Is there any way to make it so that I can use the F buttons, not the picture shown on them?
Yes. System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard:
Check the box next to where it says "Use the F1 - F12 keys to control software features."

  • Updateable Report : re-display collection & Update Button question

    This a sequel to a previous Updateable Report question I had.
    Varad pointed me to this doc which has been incredibly helpful .
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/
    howtos/tabular_form.html#RESTRICTIONS
    I was\am having the following issue :
    Let's zoom to the part where we create a region to display the tabular form for the previously saved collection , and drill down to the part where we create an UPDATE EMP button for that displayed collection :
    I was not able to display the collection again when I failed the validation a 2nd time. ie, clicking on the UPDATE EMP button after it displays both the errors-post validation and after displaying the collection ( of course) would return me to the previous report pre-collection creation. When I turned debug on I found out that it was not even creating the collection and was hence deleting it before displaying the subsequent page.
    So what I did differently from what the documention instructs is as follows :
    I removed the page reference on the 'branch to page' of the UPDATE EMP button. In my case, the default 'Branch to ' Page after Processing is the same page I am using for this part of the application.
    So when I remove the reference to the page number. for that button, the page is then able to re-create the collection and hence re-display the collection so I can re-fix the 2nd error ( ... and 3rd) and finally update the report .
    Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience ?
    Thanks !

    The columns and rows have a set format for the Id, so if you know one Id you know the row and the ids of all the other columns.
    As an example, this will show the value of column 6 when you click on any column with the function call in the Element Attributes:
    Script:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function showCol6(col){
      var col6 = document.getElementById("f06_" + col.id.substr(4,4));
      alert(col6.value);
    </script>Element Attributes:
    onclick=showCol6(this);You could also use a Named Column template, specific to this region, to include the column values directly in the function call, but I think it's best to stick with the ApEx defaults if possible.

  • Good old "Disable brower's Back button" question.

    I don't have to implement it. I am posing this question just out of curosity . Is there a way we can somehow disable Back button on our browser starting second page onwards?
    I recently browsed one site that had "Next" and Previous" buttons on each page. Surprisingly Back button on all the pages was disabled.
    I know, when we open the first page for browsing, Back button is disabled by default. Is there a way we can force browser to treat each and every page as the first page? How did they implement this functionality?
    Thanks.

    If you're using JSPs, simply ensure that they are not being cached by the browser.
    <%
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Pragma","no-cache");
    response.setDateHeader ("Expires", 0);
    %>Otherwise, there are a couple of ways to do this via Javascript.

  • Layered Menu Button Question...

    Using layered menus throughout my project as it is fitting with our concept, but have never used them before. I have a question:
    I have several images on a flattened layer of a PSD file that I want to use for buttons on any given screen. Can I use an overlay to give an outer glow effect to a given button image? (Don't really want to go back and add extra layers in the psd for each button state if I can show selections some other way.)
    My limited experience has shown me that each time you add layers to the PSD file, it changes the layer selections settings on the menus where that PSD is used, as if DVDSP simply counted the depths of the layers and wasn't using the layer name as its reference.
    In short, what is the best way to show the user he has selected a button on a layered menu without adding more layers to the original PSD, if possible?

    James Roller1 wrote:
    So let me get this straight about layered menus... especially in my case: the final background document needs to be complete before I begin adding buttons or building the project, and any additional layers added will throw off any work done. Correct?
    Unsure of that, been awhile since I played with layered menus, due to their limitations on some players, slower speed etc. so I stay away from them (and so many others) for the most part when creating a "real" DVD (as oppossed to just some one off type fun things for my friends, family and myself.)
    I do not recall having the issue that you seem to have when renaming - having things switched up - but it has been awhile and I think I probably had everything laid out ahead when I did it. But if you are seeing that happen then have the menu set as close as possible before using it.

  • Flash Button question.

    Any help on this matter is greatly appriciated. This is
    probably a stupid question but it is driving me nuts.
    I was updating my site in dreamweaver and I added a bunch of
    flash buttons.(slider type) When I upload the site to my server ,
    you have to click each button one time before the flash starts
    working. If I remember correctly, when I first started adding
    buttons, the properties at the bottom had 2 check boxes on the left
    hand side to continouisly play the flash. I do not have those check
    boxes now. I opened the buttons in flash and everything works fine
    in flash. If I hit the play button(in properties) the flash will
    work correctly until you preview in browser.

  • I accidetally hit the brightness button -Question about Auto brightness....

    I leave my display settings on "Automatically adjust screen as ambient light changes" which works in conjunction with the keyboard illumination.
    My question is, I accidentally hit the "Brightness Decrease" button often, the button directly above the ONE key. I was wondering,... How does that affect the automatic features?
    I noticed that the brightness never seems to go above about half way on the meter in the displays control panel, Do I have to adjust the brightness to full intensity to give the display more "Automatic" Range?
    It seems as if since I hit the decrease button, no matter how bright or dim a room is, the display never goes about the half-way mark.
    I know this is a weird question, but I really apprciate your opionon / information relating to this,
    -Rob

    (I do not know all that much on this topic, but) I believe that when you hit the brightness button, the automatic adjustment turns off. To reactivate it, you can restart your computer (obviously), or, I noticed that the automatic kicks back in when you unplug/plugin your computer.
    That's about all I know.
    I can experiment with more things if you want, just let me know. And I was curious, how do you keep accidentily hitting the brightness button?

  • Movieclips acting as buttons questions

    I have 4 mc's that are acting as btns inside an mc on the main timeline
    code is below
    newolivefour_mc.buttonMode=true
    newolivefour_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER,buttonOverfour);
    newolivefour_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT,buttonOutfour);
    function buttonOverfour(e:MouseEvent):void
        e.currentTarget.gotoAndPlay("over")
    function buttonOutfour(e:MouseEvent):void
        e.currentTarget.gotoAndPlay("out")
    there are 3 other mc/btns and all come up at different frames in  mainbranch_mc (mainbranch_mc is on the main timeline)
    first question, if I add the above codes to each mc at the beginning or end of mainbranch_mc I get a null error, so the only way I do not is if I add actions to the frames the buttons start in. (is this correct?)
    second question, since btn mode is true I do not need to change the mc properties from mc to button correct?
    last question, since newolivefour_mc and the 3 other btns (which I did not list are all inside the branch_mc timeline) how and where do I code so the btns when released to getURL's
    any help??
    RD

    1.  you can't apply code to an object that doesn't exist when the code executes.
    2.  never change an object from one type to another in the properties panel.  i have no idea why that option exists.
    3:
    newolivefour_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,buttonClickfour);
    function  buttonClickfour(e:MouseEvent):void
       navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com"));
    or even better, so you only need one click function for all your buttons:
    newolivefour_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,buttonClick);
    newolivefour_mc.urlS="http://www.adobe.com"
    function  buttonClick(e:MouseEvent):void
        navigateToURL(new URLRequest(e.currentTarget.urlS));

  • Trackpad Button Question

    I have a somewhat dumb question, but on my brand new mac air, when i press certain spots on the track pad button (middle) it's not as smooth as when I click to the sides. I've only had it for four days, had to return first one for dead pixels and second because trackpad button was uneven.
    Does anyone else notice this on their air? I don't want to be too anal about a computer and was wondering if maybe this issue would work itself out with more use. If not o you think apple would exchange for a small detail like this?

    I really don't think so. My MacBook Pro's trackpad clicks harder at different spots on the pad. The further I move up on it, the more pressure I have to put on it to click.
    Here is a picture of the Air's trackpad button from the bottom.
    It's looks like a strip with probably a spring-loaded button in it. The button might be in the middle, which would explain why it's harder to push there. In most of Apple's demos, they show the finger applying pressure more towards the ends on the trackpad button, as pictured below.
    I would turn on "Tap to Click" and see if you can get used to that.

  • Status Buttons Question

    How come the status buttons next to people's names always show up in the standard iChat buddy list window, but don't always show up under the drop down buddy list you can see from the menu bar icon?
    For example, I have two buddys with audio capabilities, and one with video. I see the appropriate icons in the standard iChat buddy list window, but I only see an audio icon for one of those buddies in the drop down status bar list.
    Why the discrepancy?

    Hi,
    Your question..
    1. My question is, do we have a workaround to some how add more than 3 push buttons to a status?
    Ans: As per the standards there is no Possibility of adding more than three buttons in a single status.
    Workaround would be Make us of the Thrid Button, Which inturn takes to a new substatus which inturn would have three more buttons and The third Button would take to a New Substatus and keep on going untill your requirement is achived.
    Third Button will not trigger any workflow event, and "Next Status" would Blank.(ie not to select any of the two Exit/Dispaly)
    2. Or is there any other alternative that we can use to setup concurrent process as explained above?
    Try using Follow-up of Appraisal document. Where the final score of the sub apprisal can be used as a part of the main appraisal. (this I have not worked ) but there is a possibility to achieve your requirement.
    Part Appraisal can be used at only "In Process" Status once.

  • Basic save button question

    Hi
    I am new to apex and im try to figure out how a save button works.
    it is on a page where employee details can be updated and if you enter a leave date and click save an email is sent.
    The save button is in the buttons area of the page definition - :) not suprisingly
    there is a send leaver notification in the processes
    but i cant find the code that triggers the process within the button.
    Probably a basic question
    thanlks in advance.

    as the button is called SUBMIT does this then create the link?Not really.
    The button name alone isn't what determines that it has the ability to kick off a process (although if you created it with a wizard in Apex it might have defaulted or suggested that name to you).
    You can call the button "Jabberwocky" or "Gobbledygook" if you want and it still will perform a submit action of some kind if it does not call a URL and it does not call a redirect to another page in the app directly in the button definition. If it doesn't do either of those, it will therefore perform a submit action (regardless of the actual button name).
    In summary, a button will do one of three things:
    1. redirect to any URL
    2. redirect to a page in the app (which is really just a special variation of redirecting to a URL)
    3. perform a submit action (this is the default if it does neither #1 nor #2).
    Does that make sense? So if you look at a button and it does not redirect to a URL or page in the app, it therefore must be doing a submit of some kind.
    Then, over in the processes, these will execute if a submit was done and the process is either unconditional or is conditional and the conditions are met. These will fire in the order of the sequence numbers on the processes. These processes are not fired for a URL redirect nor a page app redirect.
    Finally, a branch fires after the processes. A branch isn't quite a redirect but more of a "after i'm done processing what control should I return back to the user?" thing.
    However, only ONE branch at most will fire. Apex will look at them in the order of the sequence numbers and fire the soonest of the unconditional branches or the conditional branches for which the conditions are met. The first one found eligible to fire will fire and the others will be ignored.
    Note that if you have no branches at all or you have conditional branches and the conditions aren't met on any of them:
    1. Before apex v4.0 you will get an error (e.g.: page xxx provided no page to branch to), as it expects to find a branch to fire.
    2. Apex 4.0 and up will implicitly default to branching to the same page so you won't get an error, however you don't have control of the other branch settings either such as whether or not to display the process success message, clear a cache, etc.

  • Scripting Play All Button Question

    Is there a way when I script a play all button, that at the end of playing each track individually, the button for the follow track is highlighted?
    Thanks.

    Eric,
    There are several ways to optimize Play All through different aspect clips, depending on the project type.
    One method is to conform the assets - though, this depends on the ratio of 4:3 to wide footage, and other factors - if you only have a couple of 4:3 assets, then you can make them wide (black on either side), and nestle them in with all the other wide clips in a single Track. You could also put them in another Track by themselves (still make them wide, and set for Pan and Scan - not failing to stripe the mpeg assets with the P&S centering vectors with John Brisbin's "Mpeg Append Force Pan and Scan"; that way the footage displays properly pillar bar'd on 16:9 TVs and full-screen on 4:3 TVs).
    If you have more or less equal number of different footage aspects, you can order your 'Play All' sequence to play through all the Wide Footage in one Track first and then jump to the other Track with all the 4:3 footage lined up in there (prepared for wide and set for Pan and Scan, as outlined above, so the clips aren't stretched out when presented on wide displays), and play them all the way through. I do have a procedure I use to make the jump from the first Track to the second super compatible with even marginal players, which prevents the back and forth jump.
    There are other ways, as well; again, depending on project parameters (and of course, wether Hal "got to 'em first" and had them script the twenty separate Tracks for Play All! ).
    Heck, *you don't even need a single script to set a project up to Play All through 20 Tracks (or any supported number), and then to have those same Tracks be switched to single play mode for targeting from their respective buttons on the menu. Zero scripts.* Play 20 Tracks in the order you define, or singly play any of the same 20 Tracks and return to the menu and proper button. But it's still better to put all the clips in a single Track and go with Stories.
    I have a start of an article on this whole question, and hopefully I'll be able to post it soon. My SPRM table I mentioned in another thread was delayed because of the games in NY (I'm based in Philly :- ), that will be up by Monday (feels good saying it!).
    Oh, and one correction to my reply above; When I said a Track is an entire 'Video Title Set Menu Domain', while true, all Tracks and Slideshows include such a structure; I should have said a Track is an entire 'Video Title Set'. It was late (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it :- )

  • My Home Button question.

    I just got my Touch yesterday (a great bit of kit!) and it seems that sometimes when I press the Home button it goes back into the main (Home) menu quicker than others, sometimes I have to press the button 2 or 3 times before it goes back to the main menu.
    I'm only pressing the button gently, am I supposed to hold it down for a few seconds for it to work properly?
    I did a search and found similar posts but nothing that really answered this question.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the info guys. I am pressing the button a bit harder and even though it still sometimes takes 3 or 4 presses it still goes back home, just me being a bit paranoid with the new toy I suppose! At the end of the day it works perfectly and does what it says on the box.
    Thanks for the replies.

  • Help button question Applescript Studio

    Hi everyone!
    My help menu works just fine but to get my help button on the main window to work I set the default app for my file to Help Viewer. Then I script the open file command in Finder to open the file which is in my app bundle. It works fine and I was never able to get the cocoa command to open the help file to work with my button. My question is though I just realized that if I would click the help button multiple times it would open multiple windows of the same file in Help Viewer. That doesn't seem to be cool as I would hope it would realize the file is already open and not open the same file again? Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?
    If it helps here's a link to my past posts:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=693971&tstart=0
    Thanks for the help!
    Reg

    My help menu works just fine
    You don't say whether or not you changed the normal setup for the Help menu item to make it work "just fine"... Typically the help menu item has a connection in Interface Builder to the First Responder's showHelp: method. Assuming you did not change this, and this is what is working fine, then there's no reason that you can't also set up your help button to work in the same way (no AppleScript code would be needed).
    In Interface Builder...
    - First turn off the "on clicked" action for your help button in the AppleScript pane of the Inspector window (so clicking the button doesn't trigger any AppleScript code).
    - Then select your help button and <Control>-drag from the help button to the "First Responder" icon in the "MainMenu.nib" window. As you're dragging you'll see a blue line following the mouse.
    - Release the mouse button once the line goes from your button to the First Responder and you see a blue square surrounding the "First Responder" icon. This will cause the "Target/Action" pane to open in IB's Inspector window and you will see a long list of "Actions for First Responder".
    - Scroll down and highlight the "showHelp:" method then click the "Connect" button. A little circle will appear next to the "showHelp:" item indicating the connection has been made.
    - Save your nib file and rebuild your app.
    Now when you click on your help button it will do a Cocoa call to the First Responder's showHelp: method allowing it to work just like the help menu item.

  • Multiple Add Page Buttons Question

    I'm working on a form that will have five seperate buttons to open five seperate templates. I've gotten the first set of buttons done and am thinking I may run into a stumbling block.
    When the user clicks Yes, a hidden template opens. When the user clicks No, the page is deleted. The user will not always need to have more than one template but may need say template one and four.
    I currently have my No button set up to delete a specific page number.
    My question is: If the user spawns template one and four and then decides they don't need template four and wants to delete it by clicking No, how would the program know to delete the template that was spawned by button four? Is there a way to say "delete this specifc template name" instead of "delete this page number"?
    My Yes button script says:
    var a = this.getTemplate ("Template"); a.spawn();
    My No button script says:
    var a = this.deletePages
    ({nStart: 1});
    I appreciate the help.

    GKaiseril -
    Yes, this is a form.
    This form will be accessed using the PDF Expert app by Readdle on an iPad, primarily. The final product, which will be a flat PDF will be viewed with Reader.
    I wonder if there is a way to designate a static character for the page number. So, instead of asking it to delete page 2, you could ask it to delete TemplateX if Template X has been generated.
    This is a grab of what I am working on. I have this duplicated five times in the form. When the user selects Yes for Submit Written Quote for Repairs, it spawns a Template. Each of the five Yes boxes generates an additional Template page.

    There are lots of questions apparently expressing frustration with the radioList, checkboxlist etc. and their inability to work properly with a button.
    But there are no proper responses.
    The issue is simple:
    On page 1 a button is pressed and a dynamically generated LIST becomes the source of a RadioButtonList. One of these radio buttons are checked/ selected and the form submitted and proceeds to page 2.
    Unfortunately this simple thing is a rocket science with something that is supposed to be easier to use.
    The bug I am encountering is that whenever I press the submit button control goes back to the constructor and since the list is empty it seems to encounter an error and NEVER even reaches the action method.
    Another instance is where in a drop down list I select an option and it is simply supposed to redirect to another page but it comes back to the exact same page.

  • Rookie CS3 Button Question,

    Hello all,
    I'm fairly new to encore and got a project dropped in my lap today a work. I'm sure this is simple ,but I don't know exactly what to search for. so here we go:
    I have a complete .PSD file that the client wants to use as a menu. The buttons have three versions: 1. Original state, as you would see it on the screen.  2. Highlighted, what you would see if you move the cursor over the button and 3. Selected, the button will highlight when you push play/enter.
    My question is how do I set these layers in the menu to react with the cursor properly?
    I only have two buttons on the menu (play and Scene select) and three versions of each button (mentioned above) built in as layers in the PSD. and i have no idea how to set the links/hierarchy.
    any help/guidance/tut links would be appreciated. they seemed to have misplaced the manuals, so I've gotta rule that out for now.....

    The beauty to using Stanley's suggestion of starting with one of the Templates, is that the Button Layer Sets and the necessary naming conventions will be there for you, already. Saves a lot of mistakes and extra work.
    Make special note of the Button Layer and Layer Sets' naming. Those initial characters are VERY important, as the take a regular, Layered PSD and turn it into a functioning Menu in Encore.
    I will Rename those Layers & Layer Sets, AFTER the space (leaving those necessary characters in place), to match up with my Timelines, or other Assets. Then, rather than trying to remember that "Button 1" one Scene Selection Menu 3 links to "Liz's Birthday," I will see the name, "Liz's Birthday."
    I also name my Timelines, usually from" 01 Intro," to "0x Whatever," so I can easily see the order, and then use those names (after the space). I find that a little extra work initially, saves me a lot of extra work and confusion, later on.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    PS - I also highly recommend Jeff Bellune's book, The Focal Easy Guide to Adobe EncoreDVD 2.0, Focal Press. Though written for EncoreDVD 2.0, 100% of the book translates directly to CS3 & CS4.
