F4 describe for packages with public synonyms error
v1.1.0.23 If I hit the F4 key to do a describe for a package that has a public synonym, an error box pops up that says "No valid query. No query found for version of the selected database" . After 5 presses of the OK button, a flyout window displays that contains the package spec.
Hi
I am not sure but maybe you need to use this command:
SQL> insert into ums_sita_address values
('EK','EK','DXB',SITA_ADDRESSES_TY());
SITA_ADDRESSES_TY() instead SITA_ADDRESSES_NT

Problem in CR XI returning Views with PUBLIC synonyms
I am having problem in CR XI returning Views with PUBLIC synonym.
I can see the tables and stored procedures with PUBLIC synonym but not VIEWS.
This is a simple View that has a PUBLIC synonym to it. I have granted the user SELECT access to the underlying Views.
I checked the boxes in Report > Options for all the combinations possible one by one but to no avail.
I connect CR to the instance as a specific user , password. But when I go to Views (and Tables) there is nothing visible.
I tried PRIVATE synonyms and when I go to Views (and Tables) the views are visible, but now the Fields are not visible.
In SQL+ and Oracle SQL Developer connected as the same user , password everything looks ok.
Any help will be appreciated.Hi Wayne,
Sorry for the delay. Not sure where this post came from.... must have been transferred from another forum.
R1 is no longer support nor are updates available. You can upgrade to CR Xi R2 for free, it's end of life now also but has all of the latest patches included.
Install with your XI R1 keycode and then test again.

Search for packages with pacman
Normally I searched for packages with packman -Ss ...
But is there a posiblity that it shows only that packages wich i havent installed?pacman -Ss <packagename>

pacman -Q

Create a package with one function - Error Ora-00907
Hello,
I want to create a package which should store one function.
The code looks like this:
Package Header:
CREATE OR REPLACE
PACKAGE "PCK_REPORT" AS
TYPE t_varchar2 IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(4000);
FUNCTION f_tabtostring(i_varchar2 IN t_varchar2) RETURN VARCHAR2;
END;Package Body:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY "PCK_REPORT" AS
FUNCTION f_tabtostring (i_varchar2 IN t_varchar2) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
o_string VARCHAR2(32767);
BEGIN
FOR i IN 1 .. i_varchar2.COUNT LOOP
IF i != i_varchar2.FIRST THEN
o_string := o_string || ', ';
END IF;
o_string := o_string || i_varchar2(i);
END LOOP;
RETURN o_string;
END f_tabtostring;
END;Comilation works fine, but when I try to use the function with the following example:
SELECT pck_report.f_tabtostring(CAST(COLLECT(mytable.col1) as t_varchar2)) as column1
FROM mytable;it only returns an error ORA-00902: Unknown datatype.
When I add the package name to the datatype at the cast in the sql statement, it returns an error ORA-00903.
What is my misstake?

write and exception-handler where you capture the EXEC_SQL.Package_Error exception and then show the last error raised by the exec_sql package.
eg.
BEGIN

MESSAGE('Code: ' || EXEC_SQL.Last_Error_Code || ' Msg: ' || EXEC_SQL.Last_Error_Mesg || ' Position: ' || EXEC_SQL.Last_Error_Position );

Public Synonyms for Nested Tables - Insertion Problem
Hi,
we are facing a problem during implementation. Our DB set up

The problem is we have some nested tables in our application.
When I try to insert into the synonym which is created for the

What can i do for creating view on a public synonym?
Hi people,
I have create a public synonym for other users object as,
SQL> create public synonym pdep for scott.dept;
Synonym created.
then i tend to create a view on this public syn as,
SQL> create view vpdep as select * from pdep;
create view vpdep as select * from pdep
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I have privilege to create view.also i can create view on a public synonym of my own objects.for ex,
SQL> create public synonym cdep for dept;
Synonym created.
SQL> create view vcdep as select * from cdep;
View created.
what could be the reason behind this?is there any privilege required for me.pls suggest me.
Regards
VIDSHi vidusnat!
This is from Oracle's onlinedocumentation:
>
Privileges Required to Create Views
To create a view, you must meet the following requirements:
You must have been granted one of the following system privileges, either explicitly or through a role:
o The CREATE VIEW system privilege (to create a view in your schema)
o The CREATE ANY VIEW system privilege (to create a view in another user's schema)
You must have been explicitly granted one of the following privileges:
o The SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE object privileges on all base objects underlying the view
o The SELECT ANY TABLE, INSERT ANY TABLE, UPDATE ANY TABLE, or DELETE ANY TABLE system privileges
In addition, in order to grant other users access to your view, you must have received object privileges to the base objects with the GRANT OPTION clause or appropriate system privileges with the ADMIN OPTION clause. If you have not, then grantees cannot access your view.

I hope that this will bring a little light into darkness!

Create Classes In Different Packages With Error-free Importing
Hello,
I'd like to create a class which inherits from another class from some other package. So I use "import" keyword to involve the class to build my new class on. However, I hope my new class can be in its own package which is different with one the base class is in. To make it clear, please see the example below:
There are two folders, with name c08 and c09 respectively, in C:\Java which I created for this case. I set the environment variable as C:\Java. There is no problem. Then I saved file "Inter.java" in C:\Java\c08. It's source code is as below:
package c08;
public interface Inter {
void play ();
void action ();
And another "Test.java" is saved in C:\Java\c09. Source code as below:
package c09;
import c08.*;
public class Test {
protected class PC implements Inter {
public void play () {
System.out.println("Play()");
public void action () {
System.out.println("Action()");
It was successfully compiled for "Inter.java". But when comes to "Test.java", it failed with error message of something like "Cannot find the interface Inter". I tried some other ways and I didn't get any results.
I hope to create a class using classes from some other packages while keeping the new one in a different package. How can this be done? (I am currently doing this in J2SE 1.4.01 under Windows XP Home Edition)
Thank you!
Best Regards
FelixI copied and pasted your code as well as made c08 and c09 directories. I had no errors compiling. I am using NT, but it appears that your problem is Classpath related. You can try to CD to the C:\Java directory and compile using "javac c09\Test.java" That's the command I used.

Synonyms for packaged procedures
Heres something that is currently bothering me.
Why are we not allowed to create synonyms for procedures and functions within packages ?
Our database has too many individual procedures and functions for my liking and I would like to move some of them into packages. Consequently I want to create synonyms to avoid changing application code.
I have found metalink note 1061643.6 which confirms this cannot be done, but it also goes on to say:
"Oracle does this using the STANDARD package with overloaded functions and procedures such as TO_CHAR() and TO_DATE(), but how Oracle does this is proprietary information and is not available to the public."
(Thanks Oracle)The basic reason for this restriction is that the Oracle synonyms are alternative names only for database objects, not for PL/SQL objects like packaged function and procedures.
But moving stored procedures/functions to packages is a good idea, recommended by all the experts, with many benefits for you in the future.
There is a simple solution for you problem, with very little impact on the continuity or performance of your applications:
1. Copy the code of the DB stored procedures and functions to PL/SQL packages, mirroring them into packages subprograms.
2. Replace the body of the DB procedures and functions with plain calls to their packages equivalents, transforming them effectively into wrappers behaving like synonyms.
3. Change gradually the code of the application to call directly the packages functions and procedures
4. When the change is completed, delete the wrappers.
BTW If Oracle does not support a feature, than you it's better not to use it. Modifying the STANDARD package or using some volatile, undocumented features is not a clever move... -

Create a public synonym for a db link - "Connection desccriptor not found".
I want to create a public synonym for a db link.
The existing db link name is tst.world ( which is in db links table and is working fine).
I created the following db link using the following command:
create public synonym "syn.world" for "tst.world";
It created the synonym successfully.
If I try the following, it throws error "Connection desccriptor not found".
select * from [email protected];
It says "Connection desccriptor not found".
Any suggestions.
Thanks in Advance.Well then, lookup the Documentation on the CREATE SYNONYM statement in the SQL Language Reference manual.
The documentation lists the types of objects which you can create synonyms for.
You can create synonyms for objects referenced across DBLinks.
You cannot create synonyms for DBLinks.

RFC metadata import error - Couldnu0092t find the branch for version with id
Hi All,
When re-importing RFC meta-data, system returned following error message <i>Couldnt find the branch for version with id = <version id></i>
I am not able to delete the existing (already imported) RFC meta-data. However, I am able to import the same RFC into a different Software Component.
The error is described in SAP note 710998, unfortunately, this note only references XI 2.0
Is there anyway other than these-
1) Deleting a new SWCV and importing it and then import the RFC and make Release transfer from new SWCV to Old SWCV. If so, is there any impact on my QA systems and Productions systems during transport.
2) Deleting the existing SWC and Reimporting from SLD and trying to import the RFC again and redoing all the design
3) Exporting the current SWC and deleting it and importing the same file and then trying out the RFC import.
These options I just thought as an workaround solutions. Because i am not able to try these, as i don't have any test systems for this. Let me know any suggestions on these.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
MoorthyYes, the used structures were imported from an old XI system. But I created the mapping new on the PI and put the used externel definitions manually to the mapping. That worked fine but now everytime when saving the mapping this error occurs. Btw both structures are used in other mappings, too, and they can be modified without any problems.
Which jdk version do you mean? Client or server?
