Facetime 1.0 Not working

Just bought 1.0 in the App store and cannot get it to facetime anyone. When I try to initiate from my iMac, it immediately tells me facetime failed and when someone tries to initiate to me, they get a message that I'm unavailable. Any ideas?

Hiya, just wanted to chime in with a "me too". I've been successfully using Facetime all the way through the beta but since updating to 1.0 it's giving me the "There is no connected camera" message when I launch it.
Looking in System Profiler shows no camera connected, either. I've tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, both to no avail. I recently swapped out my HDD so, as a test, popped the old unit back in (with the old beta Facetime and associated drivers on) and there's still no sign of the camera.
Has Facetime 1.0 hosed my iSight?

When I try to log onto my Apple ID to use facetime, it will not work and tells me to check my connection.  I have even tried creating a new apple ID but the same message appears.  I do not understand why this is happening, could anyone help me resolve this issue it is very frusterating that I can not enable facetime or imessage.

I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

Was it just this one time?  Could be that you, or your mom, were experiencing network problems.  Try again at a later time.

  • Iphone 5 doesnt accept ID password, facetime and imessage not working,

Im not sure if its to do with the new update 6.1.4 but my imessage suddenly stopped working. I checked my settings and saw that my email addresses associated with it were deleted. I would do hard resets but it wouldnt solve the problem. Then imessage was only partially working, sending imessages to certain individuals and text messages to the others. When i would try to add my email it would say that my password or ID is incorrect. I was thinking, no this could not be. I signed in and out of Itunes with no problem. I even signed on appleid.com and it worked. I tried it on my ipad which worked.
I was scratching my brains. so I had an idea,
I proceeded to reset network settings......BIG MISTAKE!!!
Now, along with my imessage and facetime problems, I cannot connect to my wifi at home. when I enter the password it says it is incorrect. I have also tried entering the wifi manually but to no avail.
I connected my iphone to itunes but it wont back up my data saying an error occured but it doesnt specify the error.
Iv also noticed that if i press and hold an app, and it starts shaking, the crosses next to the apps that I hav purchased whether it is free or not does not show the 'x' next to them so I cant manually delete an app.
What is going on? Is so frustrating because now I have to rely on my data and its depleting fast.
Iv booked an appointment with the Genius bar for next week but I am hoping I can sort this out before hand.
My first iphone and I was enjoying it up to now, not happy at all!

    Exact same issues here.
No, resetting iPhone via sleep/wake & home button does not work.
I also reset network settings and now cannot connect to wifi, says password incorrect , when it is not. IPad, other iPhones are connecting fine to the network so that is not the problem. Entered wifi settings manually and tried every possible Security setting. Even tried entering my network under " other" in choose a network and put name of my network exactly as it is and it says it can't find that network.
Just in case you're thinking to say,  go to wifi and select " forget this network " , the option to do that is not even there, so that is a no go .
iMessage and FaceTime keep saying incorrect password , when it is not.
I know what I am doing with Apple products and have never had a problem I could not fix myself until now.

  • Facetime and imessage not working after updating to ios 7

Facetime and imessage is not working at my 4s phone but on my ipad mini and iphone4 it is. What do i need to do? I have reset and sign out my account but still i cant activate it.

    backup the device with itunes.
Restore the device with itunes and set up as new.
Sign into the facetime and imessage to activate it.
After that is done and activation is good.
    Restore from the backup.
Then make sure to sign into facetime and imessage again and you should be good to go

  • Built-in Facetime HD camera not working

My MacBook Pro Retina's (mid 2012) build in camera just works sometimes. After doimg many SMC resets or killing VDCAssistan processes, I've realized that the problem boils down to the device name of the camera.
Here's the situation. When you open System Information and look at the USB section, you're normally supposed to see
    "Apple FaceTime HD Camera"
But when the camera is not working in Facetime, Photobooth or Skype the name I see in my USB device list is ViMicro USB Camera(358boot) and the device is identified as
    Vimicro USB Camera(358boot):
      Product ID:          0x3580
Vendor ID:          0x0ac8  (Z-Star Microelectronics Corporation)
      Version:           0.10
      Speed:          Up to 480 Mb/sec
      Manufacturer:          Vimicro
      Location ID:          0x1a110000 / 3
      Current Available (mA):          500
      Current Required (mA):          500
That is a clear indication that OS somehow uses a trick to identify this camera as Apple Facetime HD. I was first concerned that iy was a hardware issue, but then I'm convinced that all the applications look for a "Facetime HD Camera"
14.08.2013 11:24:42,642 VDCAssistant[408]: VDCAssistant:  Found a camera (0x1a1100000ac83580) , but was not able to start it up (0xe00002c0 -- (iokit/common) no such device)
14.08.2013 11:24:42,642 VDCAssistant[408]: VDCAssistant::DeviceArrived  Got error (0xe00002c0), waiting to see if the device shows up again
I'm pretty sure that this is a software issue and started after upgrading to 10.8.4 from 10.8.3 I'm looking forward for apple to fix this. All other remedies are just temporary and does not fix the issue

The problem arises from permission problems on the files/devices the VDCAssistant process tries to access. It's always a good idea to do a "Check Permissions" with Disk Utility on the startup disk after every version update.

I tried 'sudo killall VDCAssistant'. But it showed the message 'No matching processes were found'.
I also tried PRAM resetting but it is still not working. Now in USB it is showing below informations under FaceTime HD Camera (Built in):
    Product ID: 0x8509
    Vendor ID: 0x05ac  (Apple Inc.)
    Version: 5.16
    Serial Number: CC*******KL0
    Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec

  • Facetime HD Camera not working on new 27inch iMac

    Hello everyone,
I got a new 27" iMac and can't get the built-in Facetime HD camera working...when I open Photo Booth I just get a gray spinning wheel where my image would usually be.. I tried using it with iMovie, FaceTime, and Facebook and it wont work with any of them...
I went to System Information and the camera is being recognized under USB (FaceTime HD Camera Built In)
Tried restarting it, unplugging everything, creating a new user account...
Not sure what else to do since I have not installed anything yet
Any help would be appreciated...thank you!

[email protected] wrote: ... I already have OSX 10.8.2 installed, and when I tried to run the Combo update, I got message saying the disk volume didn't meet the requirements for the Combo Update. ...
Because you already use 10.8.2, unless something is wrong, the requirements for the 10.8.2 update can obviously be met on your startup drive.
Check your startup disk's free space.  Unless your disk has too little free space for the 10.8.2 Combo, your software (or perhaps your disk hardware) may need repair.
If your disk is getting full, increase disk space.
Otherwise, restart Mac from Mountain Lion Recovery and use Mountain Lion Recovery's Disk Utility to repair your boot drive.
Restart normally and try installing the Combo Update again.
[email protected] wrote: ... My old Logitech USB camera wont install either on the Mini.
If you mean that you are trying to install some kind of camera software, don't.  No software other than OS X is needed for any Mac-compatible cam.  Moreover, adding third-party camera drivers or other camera software apps can cause software conflicts.
If you mean that you have already installed some third-party camera software, follow its developer's instructions for uninstalling, and uninstall it immediately.  Then restart normally and try your camera again.
If you mean something else, please explain in different words.

  • Facetime Camera suddenly not working on any applications. Won't even show up/be recognzied.

I own a 15 inch Macbook Pro Retina, Mid 2012
and recently when I try opening facetime, photobooth, or even skype my mac won't recognize the camera. It acts as if I don't have a camera.
This issue was going on with Mountain Lion, so I installed Mavericks. Still not working.
I've already tried resetting my default keychain, updating to Mavericks, typing in some stuff in the terminal, restarted and shut down MULTIPLE times, going to disk utility and verifying/reparing utilities and the disk, nothing seems to work.
    PLEASE HELP ME

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Messaging, FaceTime and calling not working

I am having trouble sending iMessages, using FaceTime and calling only one contact. Each time I send an iMessage it says not delivered, when I try to call using FaceTime it pops up that the contact is not available for FaceTime and when I call the contact it goes to voicemail. Could they have me blocked?

    Hi,
Have you allowed either app through the MAc Firewall ?
(System, Preferences > Security > Firewall)
Are either app allowed though your Router ?
In fact what exactly do you mean by "Not Working" ?
    For Instance
    Face Time Launched
Go to the Face Time Menu > Preferecnes
Is it set to ON ?
